Tonight's guests include:
Dan Rather, anchor and managing editor of "Dan Rather Reports" on AXS TV
Jared Bernstein, senior fellow at the Center on Budget and Policy Priorities, and a MSNBC and CNBC contributor
And here's executive producer Bill Wolff with a look at tonight's show:

Please have Rob Zerban on your show. He needs America's support to fight the Romney/Ryan Road to Ruin!
http://whateverworks4you.blogspot.com/2012/08/romney-ryan-road-to-ruin.html
I second that. He's amassed a nice little war chest in his attempt to beat Paul Ryan, but he needs visibility. Making regular appearances on the MSNBC shows will help him overcome all the publicity his opponent will get just by being on the ticket.
Saving Privateer Ryan.
The Rude Pundit's post today points out that Paul "Privateer" Ryan's family business (Ryan Incorporated) was built constructing public roads by Ryan's grandfather between the 1910s and 1960s. IOW, Paul "Privateer" Ryan's family was on the public dole, receiving taxpayer money into the millions, building public highways, expanding our nation's infrastructure, all of which "Ayn Rand" Ryan wants to cut funding for now, including all social programs, while cutting taxes on multi-millionaires like himself. What a freaking hypocrite, like Romney, like all the Republicans.
Looked more like Paul Ryan was cutting a Peso cake, not the "federal dollar", on that Fox clip.
I suggest that what we are experiencing is an insidious form of genocide. Even if medi-care stays intact, it is nearly impossible to find a doctor who accepts new patients. They are paid too little and it is difficult for the doctors to collect on their claims. We will exclude the dishonest doctors from this discussion. They seem to manage somehow by volume and false claims. Am I alone in this opinion????
Rachel - why don't you explain the difference between what the president did with the $700 billion and what Romney/Ryan would do? Not one dime is being taken from Medicare recipient benefits in Obama's plan ... the $700 billion came from the insurance companies and tangled network of Medicare ... whereas the $700 billion cuts by the Romney/Ryan plan would absolutely hit hard the benefits of recipients. This is not a difficult concept to understand for your viewers, especially after you explain it much better than I just did. I don't know why you shied from this argument on Meet The Press (it seems weak to defend most Obama policies, but not others), and I don't know why you're not explaining it better to your viewers now. Keep up the great work.
OK, this one. I've been hearing Republicans on the news programs saying Obama cut the same amount from Medicare for Obama Cares.
Maybe you can get Steve Kornacki to do one of his corny 2 minute challenges. Although I loathe the segment... It might be necessary to crystallize the difference in the two plans. I'm afraid Americans won't understand the difference.
Errr..., I'm not even sure I totally understand the difference. It sounds like chatter coming from the airwaves every time two people discuss it.
The Obama campaign and Democratic Party responses to this have been really weak. There's a huge difference that should be easily explained: Obama isn't reducing services to Medicare/Medicaid recipients; Romney/Ryan are. It's benefits that recipients care about.
Making the system more efficient and reducing payments to non-provider parties--cutting overhead--will preserve these programs for the long run.
Oops... Scratch that Kornacki 2 minute thing... It was Ezra Klein who did those pedantic 2 minute spiels. LOL! We still need someone to boil this argument down to an easily rememberable rebuttal.
It seems to me we are being subjected to an insidious form of genocide. Why is it so difficult to find a doctor who will take a medicare patient. What's the point of having paid for medicare and having a policy to pick up the difference if you can't even get to a doctor. And, if you are fortunate to find a doctor, the don't really seem to give a big darn. No follow up, no calls with results from tests, etc. Am I the only one feeling this way????
I posted twice, sorry, I am new to this.
M
Rachel,
Perhaps Romney is doing all of this on purpose. Let's go back to his failed attempt at the presidency in 2008; then the Republican Party disliked him and during the nominations this year, the Republicans disliked him, so---- maybe, just maybe Romney is purposely losing to get back at the Republicans. The money he's spending will only make a dent in his big fat offshore accounts so he can easily afford to make light of his campaign such as choosing Ryan as his VP. How great it would be if in the end -when he loses- he simply laughs at his own party -----having THE last laugh.
Love your show.
C'mon, post today's show already!!!
Please have Gar Alperovitz or Jill Stein on.
Rachel when someone brings up the medicare change they say is for those under 55, why does everyone leave it at that. The best offense against these guys is their stand so push it back and let them go with it ,keep asking for more diffinitions/info until you show how ludicrist they and their ideas are. Why does this work each and every time because liers can not go down any road until they get lost and contradict themselves or voice to you untruths which can be exploited back against them. Example: voucher for under 55 year olds. How much do we get - really - how can you endorse this plan and amount when those people will not be using the voucher for over ten years. Does that mean you can see into the future and assure us that medical, as your figuring will not increase? Show what their friends in the Ins. co. have done over the last 30+ years to premiums. Show those double digit increases when Obamas health care passed. This is another ploy to give Ins. co. a sure paycheck just like medicare did when it went into effect. ( drug plan), Look back at how medical costs climbed after those who got the government checks found it was a slush fund to be fleeced. Finally some controls called fair and customary, government amount for a billed medical cost. Ya those wont go up either!! And lets add in a topic no ones talking about I' m 56 and my retirement age is 66 and 4 months and it goes up. So whos paying for that -me! They have no future figured out and those climbing costs, push that down their throats and all they have are lies because they will not paint ugly pictures against their ideas, so they'll lie and distract themselves off the grid,(election), use what their saying and let them explain themselves to their own demise. 700 b. cuts,ad comm.lies, false claims against Obamas ads, Reids claims,Etc.Carl Rowe and Elite propaganda. Ryans their man not Romney. More of the same Georgee boy and Chaney/Rowe Government. Thanks Rachel from the poor small town Montana boy.
Just to let you know... The FoxNews folks have started a campaign to demonize and label one by one all the the moderators that are scheduled to run the Presidential and VP debates. They are calling them their favorite label "the mainstream left media" and accusing them of not being real journalists. Unbelievable how panicked these people are. O'reilly and the fab fives (four) are claiming short of a conspiracy. You need to see also Greta Van Susteren's interview with one of Ryan's former school teachers from Wisconsin. He said that he would not vote for Ryan's because on his view on public education and the fact that in his budget Ryan reduced funds for special education from 15% to 6%. You all should have seen the rightist reaction on Greta's blog. They even called her a hacked journalist and were practically asking for her head.... Precious.
I've been thinking about this "Current" development regarding the Republicans "Desperate" attempts to justify their reasoning.
What I am seeing is, "They" are pulling out all the "Stops", I mean any excuse for stopping any voting or survey's surge related to that candidates unpopularity, like photo ID's, expired licenses, illegals, etc, etc, trying to "Control" the "Simple" practice of the average citizen being able to choose or vote for some candidate that "You" personally feel "IS" best for the Country and not for the State(s) agendas or outdated dogmas related to whatever it is that controlling authority decides their citizenry should follow or believe in or "Obey".
Every citizen should be able to vote their very own conscience when their choices are made to benefit "All" the people and "Not" the old bias and prejudices ones that keep exposing the ugly faces and their "Real" meaning(s).
Here's an example of what a "Republican" was compared to what they have morphed into in today's arenas.
Republican, a 1. Pertaining to a republic; consisting of a commonwealth; as a republican Constitution or government. (can you spot any discrepancy's?)
2. Consonant to the principles of a republic; as, republican sentiments or opinions.
Republican Party (a) any party advocating a Republican form of government; (b) in the United States, a party led by "Thomas Jefferson" and others in opposition to the "Federal Party (or the theology of Federalism); now called the "Democrat" party; and (c) in the United States, a political party originzed in 1856 upon the ground mainly of opposition to the extension (by that government, then which were the Democrates) of Negro slavery, coming into power in 1861 and since that time with a few intervals dictating a national policy. (did anyone ask the question, wasn't Thomas Jefferson a Republican??) How can you be a Republican one minute and then a Democrat the next minute?
I personally believe that "It" is one in the same meaning when you have a "Two" party system, one term can be the bad guy one and the next can be the good guy one or the White hat, Black hat ploy. In other words you "Are" having your cake and eating too.
Here's another tidbit of information I was wondering about, In today's dictionary the definition of a "Conservative", adj. (1) : tending to conserve or preserve (2) of relating to conservatism (3) tending or disposed to maintain existing views, conditions, or institutions. There are many more that you can look up but everything that "They" say they are, are the opposite of what they claim and the Democrats aren't that much different
Sorry about rambling on and on about this stuff but if the general public would just review our history I believe they would understand better why both of these political parties need to be changed so that they "Will" do what "We The People" elected them to do. r
REPUBLICANS LOVE & TRUST OBAMA MORE THAN ROMNEY. NOT EVEN REPUBLICANS HATE OBAMA

In a recent poll conducted by the Internet Free press, the questions asked: aside from politics and religion, who do you love & trust most, Obama or Romney? Seventy percent said, Obama. The second question asked, do you hate Obama? Not one person said that they hated Obama.
I keep hearing people in the News Media saying that republicans hate Obama. I didn’t believe it then, and I sure don’t believe it now. It’s time to stop saying that anyone hates Obama. No one has a reason to hate him. Visit the Internet Free Press often.
