Beauty in Motion. . or my proof that people do give a crap
Hancock County, Mississippi made me cry in joy today. A burning car crash had two people trapped in a gasoline barbeque. But the locals there would not let it be. Good people stopped any and all on that road this day for help. And help came, one by one.
Damn , I love this country !!
Looking forward to the show tonight. I live in Albuquerque, New Mexico where we are having a purge of voter rolls supposedly to make sure voters addresses are up to date but I think our republican gov. has something to do with it. Also on this whole medicare issue having an impact on those under 55, what about those of us that are disabled and under 55 (there are a lot of us out there) we receive medicare so will we be switched to a voucher program? I am an independent voter, I am leaning democrat in this election due to the war on women and the poor being waged by the GOP. The efforts to block the vote makes me ashamed of my father's party (GOP).
Ayn Rand is the writer and philosopher known for what came to be called Objectivism: the philosophy that the individual should be preeminent over the state and collective action, and that enlightened selfishness and capitalism are the purest forms of individual freedom. Born and educated in Russia, Ayn Rand moved to the United States in 1926, moving to Hollywood to begin a career as a screenwriter. In 1932 she sold her first screenplay, but soon turned to writing novels. Her novel The Fountainhead was published in 1943 and became her best-known novel. The story of Howard Roark, a principled architect whose brilliant designs and pure ideals were sneered at and blocked by the cultural elites, it was an early template of the Objectivist ideal. Still occasionally working as a screenwriter, Rand moved to New York City in 1951 and published Atlas Shrugged in 1957. That book introduced John Galt, a genius who organizes a strike of great creative thinkers and capitalists to "stop the motor of the world" and prove his point that collectivism is corrupt. Rand's ideas were both popular and controversial in an era when communism was still a major force in world affairs. In the early 21st century she was in the news again, as so-called Tea Party candidates suggested that capitalists and industrial leaders should "go Galt" and leave liberals and collectivists to suffer
The real test is, if Howard Roark can be driving by and feels nothing for my grandma changing a flat tire by her self on the edge the road. Bad old Rand , she may care.
The Anthem should have been the movie.
you do not work for TRMS, do you ?? I have hear about you. You seem to care about all things. . .just . .saying . . .
I am following with interest your reporting on voter ID laws and find what state and local governments are doing to be abominable. I am ready to help organize a voter registration rally! I live next door to Pennsylvania. I hope they are ready.
As usual I'm looking forward to your show tonight (in 6 min.) but have to say I'm getting increasingly depressed with the GOP's antics. And the PA ruling yesterday is most upsetting. Please give me hope tonight, Rachel. I just listened to the Ohio governor and I can't stomach him again. I'm pretty clear on the Medicare issue but looking forward to perhaps learning more about that tonight.
Bill, you tease. What bet did Rachel lose? It's not fair to dangle it out there and then not satisfy our curiosity. Did it involve food?
Rachel, thanks for exposing the "Throw the rock and hide" Republicans. They are liars on steroids. Expose these so-called 'anti-stimulus' suckers and they might go away.
Just saw the piece with Ezra Klein (he's wicked smart for 28 years old!) and you guys did a great job! Listening to you brings me hope.
Catching up on last night's show (I'm on vacation). I just heard Rachel wondering why the Ryan announcement was made on a Saturday. The AP has an explanation. According to the Romney campaign, the announcement had been planned for Friday (news dump?), but the Sikh temple shooting changed their plans. Ryan wanted to attend the funeral, which was announced late in the week to be Friday.
Please Steer Rachel to blog :Emmett Brigham Young's Great-Great-Granddaugher leaves Mormon church and talks about who Romney is and the treatment of the women by the men in the church. She has great insite to who Romney is.
From the :http://www.thedailybeast.com/articles/2012/08/07/exclusive-brigham-young-s-great-great-granddaughter-on-mormonism-and-mitt-romney.html
Since she left 13 years ago, Emmett has become a leader of the ex-Mormon movement, which she says is not about bashing her former church but about helping former members make the difficult adjustment. “It’s such an insular world, and for some people it is really hard to make it on the ‘outside,’ so to speak,” she says.
Emmett has watched Mitt Romney very closely throughout his public life and has strong opinions about what shaped his personality and his character. “Mitt is a product not only of his wealth, but of an organization that gives men power when they are 12 years old,” she says. “That is when boys are ordained with the priesthood. It is a big moment in a Mormon male’s childhood.”
As for what pundits say is Romney's difficulty connecting with people, Emmett blames it largely on what she calls “the entitled Mormon male syndrome, where the leadership professes compassion and concern but leaves the manifestations of that to the drones. All male leadership is not this way; there are some wonderful men who do their best to exercise their power compassionately, but many do not.”
I love the Rachel Maddow show and love Rachel Maddow. I guess that is why I am so very disappointed and over-the-top-upset in what she did this evening. Sherrod Brown left his e-mail address for support from her viewers. Rachel then, trying to be a fair liberal, gave his GOP competitor's e-mail address. I am so upset over this. Rachel, we depend on you to protect and defend Democrats. The GOP right-wingers and Tea Partiers don't even know the meaning of being fair, or being truthful. Sherrod Brown needs all the help we can give him to overcome the amount of monies piling in from God knows what wealthy GOP contributors. Why, just tell me why there was a need to feel it was fair to give the e-mail address of the Republican running against Sherrod Brown? I can't tell you how upset I am after listenting to all the lies I heard today from the other side.

In regards to the segment on Paul Ryan and his "public" statements on the evils of the stimulus and his "private " requests for stimulus money. He is employing one of the oldest tricks: deny, distract and delay until you can come up with a good story. Then sell, sell, sell the story, truth need not get in the way.

I'm having trouble understanding how Romney can debate the above. That's the law clearly stated.
On August 16th Romney claimed that Obama is "stealing $716 billion from Medicare". On August 12th Romney also claimed: "There's only one President in history that I know of that robbed Medicare. $716 billion to pay for a new risky program of his own that we call Obamacare". On August 15th, Romney also claimed "I’m going to restore that $716 billion to the Medicare trust fund so that current seniors can know that the trust fund is not being raided and get Medicare on track to be solvent long-term on a permanent basis” Romney, Aug 15th
In summary, contrary to Romney, under Obama's ACA law, there are no cuts or reductions in benefits to Medicare or Medicare Advantage. And the $716 billion in savings must stay in the Medicare Trust finds.
My first question is have the GOP put forth a candidate for President who cannot read pretty straightforward law? Why is there a debate about Obama's Medicare position in the media when the law seems pretty darn clear? Romney's adding another chapter to Mitt's Mendacity. End of Story.
