Oye! The phrase "partial-birth abortion" shouldn't even exist. A partial-birth abortion is a D&C procedure which is almost always only performed if there is a fundamental flaw in the fetus (such as fluid in the brain) or if the mother's life is endangered. Calling it partial-birth completely obfuscates what the procedure is and does as well as the medical necessity behind it.
Not that this is the staff of TRMS' fault- I am just griping about the messaging in general.
Women of America: You have the political power to get the male legislators out of your bodies. Band together. Promise each other. Refuse to give sexual pleasure to any man. Use facebook to organize yourselves by the hundreds of thousands - even millions. Promise each other. Support each other. Just do it!
Mitt Romney probably isn't in this for either fame or fortune - but most all of the rest of this wild carnival ride called the Republican Party/conservative movement consists of people who, I believe, are "all in" it to build personal branding they hope to monetize for millions. And for that to work, they desperately need Barack Obama to remain in the White House for another four years of right-wing pounding. The worst thing that could happen to this crowd of talk radio/Fox News celebrities & nutty House Members is a Romney win. Remember - it was Bill & Hillary who made Rush a millionaire, and Mr. Obama made him a mega-millionaire. Look at the financial trajectory of Sarah Palin - not possible without a President Obama. Rather than being just fools, this bunch of wing-nuts are calculating & shrewd & deliberately are arranging the defeat of Romney. With an Obama win, they'll make millions over the next four years!!!
Where are all the "Republican women", wives of the men who are making these absurd arguments about abortions, etc? I have not seen or heard any of them on TV supporting their husbands positions on total abortion bans, declaring that they would indeed go through with a pregnancy caused by rape or incest as that is what their party demands and they agree with that position.
Am I missing these press conferences called by "Republican Women" to show support as is required in their role as their husbands willing and obedient wife?
No more birth control...... That's the huge issue...
See my comment below re IUDs, posted it in wrong place!
If women are forced by government to bear their rapist's child, who bears the financial burden of raising that child from diapers to graduate school?
Yes, if I choose to visit the USA again, as I have done several times in the past, will they give me an amnesty for having an IUD? Or will they take me to prison and forcibly remove it when I step off the plane.
Assuming they ever pass 'Personhood.'
And what happens in ectopic pregnancies? My dear sister-in-law nearly died from her first ectopic, when she had a second tubal pregnancy it was aborted immediately to prevent another life-threatening rupture. Will this be murder under personhood?
Armies who, over the millenia, have used rape as a weapon during war, have always known that rape CAN result in pregnancy.
No more wire hangers!
No abortion should be illegal. The government should not be able to force women to have children they do not want. That decision should be between her, her family, her conscience and her spiritual advisers - NOT the government at a state or federal level.
They want to force women to have a child they can not support financial or emotionally and at the same time they want to make deep cuts to programs they would turn to for assistance. Right now we have a system that works, you do not believe in abortion - do not have one, you are pro-choice and an abortion best fits your situation than you have an abortion.
Why oh why are these things unnoticed until after the nut jobs get elected?
More impotantly, why do such nuts get re-elected even after they are exposed?
Paul C. - To answer BOTH of your questions. Because most Americans are fat, lazy ,arrogant idiots.
Hey I resemble that remark! Still though I try to stand by my principles ,especially when I vote. I also refuse to be fed crap when there is real food on the table.
It is interesting that nobody has commented on my suggestion on how the women of America can act to get the political clout needed to take back their bodies. It would work. You know it and I know it. BUT can women band together, trust each other and get it done?? I doubt it.
People need to be respected even if they do not believe in others beliefs. The Republicans that are on the far right have no regard on being compassionate or respecting peoples' beliefs. I myself do not believe in abortion but I believe that the choice is theirs and theirs alone. Having these people in our Senate and the House of Reps that declares a woman should do something against her will is like mentally abusing women thru the government… that is absurd!!! The Republicans that I know personally only want one thing, and that is to get the government out of their business (personal). Every human being on this earth deserves compassion and respect, and most religions discriminate this. Here is something to think about… in my opinion I think that the Holy Grail represents Compassion and Respect. This just makes sense to me because of what Jesus (if you believe) taught us. I think that religions throughout this country and other countries have been holding this back because of Power…. Power that man has had for thousands of years. Why are we so hateful towards other human beings that are different? This needs to stop and the only way to do this is having the freedom of choice. The Constitution says we have that freedom. It does not say that religions have the right to force their beliefs onto someone else
