Mister Rogers remixed by Symphony of Science's John D. Boswell for PBS Digital Studios.
Massive props to PBS Digital Studios for this genius level remix, "Garden of your Mind," which transfers the wisdom of Mister Rogers to a funky new neighborhood. (Two other equally amazing tracks featuring Happy Little Trees painter Bob Ross and master chef Julia Child can, and should be, seen here.)
If you remember, here's what Mitt Romney wants to do to PBS:
"So first there are programs I would eliminate. Obamacare being one of them but also various subsidy programs — the Amtrak subsidy, the PBS subsidy, the subsidy for the National Endowment for the Arts, the National Endowment for the Humanities."
PBS chief Paula Kerger puts that in perspective:
"Federal investment in public broadcasting equals about one one-hundredth of one percent of the federal budget. Elimination of funding would have almost no impact on the nation’s debt. Yet the loss to the American public would be devastating."
These are the people in your neighborhood.

If it ain't corporate owned then it is a threat!
Interesting to note that the Koch Bros. contribute to some PBS shows. Of course they would prefer to be able to control the content of all the networks programs.
just as well as Mr. Rogers is dead. I think he'd be horrified at many of his Christian brethern and the idiots in politics who deseprately want no one to think or question or have an imagination.
I've always wondered why the Koch brothes contribute to Nova, etc. As Paul has said, it seems more a desire for control than for any public benefit.
Nothing that comes out of Mitt Robme Hood's mouth has one bit of a ring of truth to it.
He is a calculating Vulture Capitalist who will say anything to get what he wants.
PBS has become so mainstream over the years that I have no idea what the Radical, Right Wingers are having a hissy fit over. I mean " Lawrence Welk " is now one of their frequent programs. And there are rarely any programs aired that come from a left of center point of view. . . I mean come on please.
those are great pbs remixes
Romney is following a variation of the "broken windows" theory. If the Feds will fund a big yellow bird, it's open to funding anything.
Especailly if it involves science!
Why not have a voucher plan for defense while we are remaking programs?
Shooter, are you really so utterly bereft of originality that you're forced into putting down Big Bird? Or is it just that you haven't received your reichwing talking points memo yet today? *gasp* maybe you're off the mailing list!! Poor, sad, lonely troll.
That may be Shooter's problem. His parents never let him watch Sesame Street so he never learned any of the important lessons that the show teaches, like fairness, and treating others kindly (and not trolling!).
Did you ever grow anything in the garden of your mind? No? Okay, then. And trolling about Big Bird?? Who would never ever troll you, now would he?
The GOTP like their sheeple dumbed down, and culturally bereft. They're so much easier to manipulate that way.
Not to get off the subject, but I just received this musical political ad for Obama.
It's outstanding and should be passed on:
http://www.onetermmore.com/video_subtitles.html .
What can I say but 'wow'. I hope it gets viewed over and over.
I wonder if anybody at msnbc is aware of this one.
That video and the music is just incredible!!!! Thank you for sharing that link!!!!
It is now one of my bookmarks so that I can play it over and over!!!
So awesome. Thanks for sharing.
Very nicely done. The site describes it as satire. It would be funny if it weren't true.
Thanks for the link, watched it, bookmarked it & will be sharing it w/friends & family & anyone else who might listen. As for the satire label, that monniker does not do it justice. I felt silly, but it brought tears to my eyes. Is it possible for it to be played on the TV news outlets as well as living in the ethernet? It is incredibly inspiring!!!
Sesame Street helped prepare my children for school. Mister Rogers taught them to be kind, considerate members of the community. Bob Ross helped my daughter discover a love of art that led her into a graphic designer job.
I want PBS to be around for my grandchildren.
Becky, Big Bird and his cohorts are the first step on a slippery slope! First they learn to count (from a vampire!) then they learn the alphabet. Next thing you know, they are in college, studying science.
oh and you know how Sesame Street teaches Spanish! Of course it's a threat!
My favorite was the Electric Company, Rita Moreno, Morgan Freeman, Bill Cosby, et al.

Corporate welfare for the 1%, Agribusiness and Big Oil but there is no money for educational TV- or education for that matter, other knowledge infrastructure - I'm referring to severe cutbacks in basic research. This anti government thing is a pernicious meme- it strikes at the future of America and what made us great in the past. I wonder how long it will take for Dems to pick up on the opportunity that they can equate Libertarian anti government, with being against the American government.
Do we really want David Koch to have more leverage over Nova content? Haven't noticed a lot of Climate Change science shows there recently.
Funny, he did not mention cutting tax breaks and subsidies to oil companies that have made world record profits in the last decade. Must've been an oversight?
Romney/Ryan 2012: Will cut funding for the people in *your* neighborhood, but not funding for the people in *theirs*
You are so correct.
He did not mention, and most Reich-Wingers never do either, any of the following " spending " that needs to be cut :
Subsidies to Billionaires and Corporations to the tune of trillions ripped off over decades past. ( As you mentioned )
Wall-Street and Banking fraud and graft to the tune of trillions ripped off over decades past.
Military Industries fraud and graft to the tune of trillions ripped off over decades past.
Mortgage and Housing fraud and graft to the tune of trillions ripped off over the decades past.
Criminal financial support of Foreign Dictators to the tune of trillions ripped off over the decades past.
And on and on and on.
Some how these criminal spending programs NEVER bother anyone on the right.
If Romney has his way, PBS will be bought to you less and less "by Viewers like You" - as the PBS slogan goes. It is so sad and pathetic their vision of replacing an elected State with a corporate State parasitically feeding off their prey- the US public.
Cool video!
