Today's installment of campaign-related news items that won't necessarily generate a post of their own, but may be of interest to political observers:
* The new NBC News/Wall Street Journal poll shows President Obama leading Mitt Romney nationally by four points, 48% to 44%, while the new Associated Press/GfK poll shows Obama's lead at only one point, 47% to 46%.
* The Obama campaign continues its focus on education in its new ad, but instead of higher ed, this spot goes after Romney for K-12.
* In battleground state polling, PPP shows Obama up by five in Virginia (50% to 45%); a poll from the Las Vegas Review-Journal shows Obama ahead by two in Nevada (47% to 45%); and PPP shows Romney taking the lead in Wisconsin by one (48% to 47%).
* Despite Sen. Scott Brown's (R-Mass.) recent embarrassments, his standing appears to be getting stronger, not weaker -- PPP now shows the Republican leading Elizabeth Warren by five, 49% to 44%, his biggest lead in over a year.
* Vice President Biden will be in Tampa next week, hoping to be a thorn in the Republicans' side during their national convention.
* Is Michigan in play this year at the presidential level? Despite Obama's rescue of the American auto industry, and Romney's "Let Detroit Go Bankrupt" policy, the Republican ticket clearly believes it has a shot in Michigan, and Romney and Ryan will campaign in the state later this week.
* Sandra Fluke is taking a more active role in the Obama campaign, sending a mass email on Todd Akin out to the Obama mailing list yesterday.
* And in the state of Washington, Michael Baumgartner, a Republican U.S. Senate candidate, was unhappy with a recent article about himself in Seattle Met Magazine, so he emailed the reporter to tell him to "go f*** himself." Baumgartner is not expected to do well in November.

Mitt Romney may have breached ethics laws through company linked to Paul Ryan's brother, Tobin Ryan, who was employed by Romney/Bain as a Senior Manager from 1995 to 1998.
"Mitt Romney may have breached state ethics laws as Governor of Massachusetts by holding a stake in a company that did lucrative work for his administration and was linked to the family of Paul Ryan, a Daily Telegraph investigation has found."

we have ethics laws?
Luz, you're right. I had a temporary brain phart of 'logic'!!
The delete key malfunctions every time I try to delete 'logic' from my brain!!
I hope our Vice-President will do a guest spot on The Daily Show since THEY will also be in Tampa next week.
You are too kind to Baumgartner. He is going to lose in a landslide! He's a jerk and a liar.
And a Cheney-plagiarizer!
Vulture/Voucher 2012
Proving Two Rights DO Make a Wrong!
;-)
Well of course Scott Brown is leading in Mass. Liarwatha is a nut job. She makes Christine O'Donnell look like Margaret Thatcher for god's sake. But that pic of Liarwatha on a motorcycle was soooo "looser Mike Dukakis" like. From tanks to bikes, the original "You didn't build that" nutjob fake Cherokee Indian is falling faster than the states LOOSER Red Sox teams of old & present day. Stick a fork in both of them, the Red Sox & Liarwatha are Chokers.
Go Scott Brown!
* Sandra Fluke is taking a more active role in the Obama campaign, sending a mass email on Todd Akin out to the Obama mailing list yesterday.
Just like I said, Sandra Fluke is a PHONY. She's always been in the bag for the marxicratic party, she's a hack. Thanks for proving my point TRMS.
Into the Guinness early again, are we, Paddy? But thanks for demonstrating again what the English mean when they talk about the "bog-stupid Irish." There's always one of you to come along and prove the slur.
How to be original dolt. I'll return the favor,............Suas Do Chul Tc
Check out the snip of Romney disembarking from his plane with TRUMP plane in the background. Love it!
I would ask that Morning Joe fella that when he says the Stupid Party, isn't most of his frustration really the lying?...
the voter ID proponents just got a huuuuge shot in the arm. May I direct everyone to Rhode Island.
How can half the country be this freaking IGNORANT?????!!!!!!!
Oh, forgot, we're talking about the United States of America, the exceptional country. Exceptionally STUPID.
Looks like Texas can withhold money from PP.

There is no GOP war on women or poor women. [/sarcasm]
And here is yet another photo of Romney touching Ryan. I'm glad Mitt's found someone he likes.
An article everyone needs to read:
http://www.cnbc.com/id/48751072
There is more in this story than just the headline: "Fiscal Cliff Will Cause Recession"
for instance:
Romney may be campaigning in Michigan as a misdirection play. By looking as though he's contesting that state, he might sucker Obama's folks into devoting more resources there than they really want to commit. I wouldn't be surprised to see this pattern recur in several other states that should be fairly safe for Obama.
If Union voters in Massachusetts once again put Scott Brown over the top, more of the Union moverment in America may simply gradually disappear, and be left with no one to mourn it's passing except the union folks who voted for Brown again, and their fellow former union members. The Union movement is on extremely thin ice, which has broken off from the Democratic party and is now simply adrift in a Sea of Fickleness, ignorance, and narcissistic greed. .
I think Obama needs to address the new CBO report. I was in the car earlier, and every conservative radio host was pounding on it. "The fiscal cliff is inevitable if Obama is re-elected." They were ALL hitting on it. I hope that Obama will address it before it gets out of control. There are plenty of vulnerable folks out there that don't understand.
The fiscal cliff fallicy is being touted so that Republicans can raid the 3 trillion+ dollars invested in Social Security and invest same in Wall Street after they skim their share off the top.
Why is it so difficult for some people to miss the obvious reality. We have a guy, Mitt, who was given advantages only available to the very wealthy and connected from birth, who went to a top prep school, and Harvard, NEVER having a moment of concern for his privileged lifestyle who now thinks he deserves to be president. Have we seen this before? Oh yes George W. Bush. Yes Mitt is smarter and more successful by far, but his character may even be more flawed. Bush for all his short comings had some core beliefs. Not so with Mittens.
who went to a top prep school, and Harvard,
Have we seen this before?
Our current President ALSO went to a top prep school - Punahou School in Hawaii and then went on to Columbia and Harvard. Sounds pretty similar to me.
* Despite Sen. Scott Brown's (R-Mass.) recent embarrassments, his standing appears to be getting stronger, not weaker -- PPP now shows the Republican leading Elizabeth Warren by five, 49% to 44%, his biggest lead in over a year.
That same PPP article also says that 53% of those polled want the Democrats to control the Senate, while 36% want the Republicans to.
Strange.
