Romney immigration adviser Kris Kobach.
Just yesterday, one of the leaders of Mitt Romney's Hispanic leadership team said the campaign has a specific target: "[O]ur goal is to hit 38 percent with the Hispanic vote." That would be a significant increase over McCain/Palin, which won 31% of the Latino vote in 2008.
Maybe now would be a good time for Team Romney to aim lower.
Arizona immigration law author and Kansas Secretary of State Kris Kobach is representing 10 immigration agents in a lawsuit filed Thursday against Homeland Security Secretary Janet Napolitano, for policies they say prevent them from doing their job of defending the Constitution. [...]
The suit goes after two key Obama policies on immigration: prosecutorial discretion to focus on criminals and repeat offenders, as well as deferred action for undocumented young people.
So, the Obama administration is pursuing an immigration policy that used to enjoy bipartisan support, pursuing the goals of the DREAM Act, and Kobach is filing to suit to combat the policy.
And who's Kris Kobach? He's the anti-immigration official who advises Mitt Romney on immigration policy.
Kobach's lawsuit, incidentally, coincides with the completion of the Republican Party's new national platform. And guess what it says on immigration: "In their debates this week in Tampa, Fla., over the party platform, Republican delegates hammered out an immigration plank calling for tough border enforcement and opposing 'any forms of amnesty' for illegal immigrants, instead endorsing 'humane procedures to encourage illegal aliens to return home voluntarily,' a policy of self-deportation."
I'm going to go out on a limb and say 38 percent is overly ambitious. Maybe Romney should aim for about half that.

Maybe the reason Romney doesn’t appear to have enough friends is because he keeps getting run over by the ones he does have.
The whole thing with China and America loosing its companies resulted from Reagan and his crony Republicans and extreme wealthy from greed and corruption. Ask Romney, he was a big exported of American jobs overseas with his companies in China, why this all happened. Romney was a big promoter to keep higher tariffs off China just so he could make millions of dollars at inflated prices as most of the products were junk in comparison to the price of it. Having Romney actually address or deal with the issue about China would be like having the worst thief around and asking him to treat the American people the right way now to deal with the lack of American jobs and industry.
The Bigliarcans policy on immigration dovetails nicely with it's policy on gun control; more stand your ground laws, and let's put landmines on the Mexico side of the wall.
Doesn't having a gun on your person in a "stand your ground" confrontation implies your life is not in danger?,, therefor you the gun wearer must stand down?..
Drive by shootings of people in your neighborhood who you do not want in your neighborhood is standing your ground...
I am sure the plan is that once Susanna Martinez speaks at the convention, it will be *obvious* that the Republicans are totally inclusive and the hispanics will flock to them.
LOL!
self-deportation huh? i wonder how that's going to work out...

it's like self-storage.
Then among other things, Kobach isn't a very good lawyer. According to Justice Scalia, in his 1999 ruling in Reno v. Arab American Antidiscrimination Commission, prosecutorial discretion on immigration decisions are "a special province of the Executive", and not reviewable by the Judiciary Branch.
Robme & his surrogates should just give up while they're already behind.
Interview with Mitt Robme Hood and Ryan of Rottingham :
Journalist : What are the specifics in regards to your plan for the American economy ?
R & R : We will be discussing that at length and then talking about it a lot.
Journalist : What are your specifics with regards to your Health Coverage plan for America ?
R & R : We will be discussing that at length and then talking about it a lot.
Journalist : Why did Mr. Ryan use the phrase ' forcible rape ' at one time but is backing away from it now ?
R & R : We believe that rape is rape as long as it is legitimately forcible.
Journalist : Governor Robme Hood. Why were you Pro-Choice at one time and are Anti-Choice now ?
R & R : We are Pro Anti-Choice to be specific.
Ahhhhhhhhh . . . NOW we know what you stand for. Thank you for your honesty !
Like Obama on same sex marriage, he "evolved".
If Obama worked a little more on the issue I am sure he could get Romney's Hispanic support into single digits.
I think 3.8 would be overly ambitious. What reason would any Latino have for voting for him. How many Latino millionaires are there? That's the only percentage he'll get.
Go find a Mexican or a black person, stand your ground, shoot him, tell the police "I didn't know he was unarmed", repeat. How many times a day can you legally do this?, without being cited for making too much noise??
Uh, maybe he was misquoted, 3.8% was most likely what they are trying to reach.
By the way how much you wanna bet that the ten border agents are recent hires that are also tea party members or ex border watching drunks uh I mean ug minutemen?
Kobach isn't there to advise on immigraton policy that would gain a higher share of the Latino vote.
He's there to advise Romney on how to get more "angry white man" votes, by defining a harsher immigration policy.
You are so right! How pathetic is Willard Mitt Romney? All he wants to be is President of the United States. He will sell his dead mother's soul, his wife's and 5 sons' souls and all his grandchildrens' to become President. So he has latched on to those inhumane and extreme right wing anti-immigrant hatefilled rhetoric and has adopted the Arizona Anti-immigrant bill and Arizona hatemongering Sheriff in order to get the GOP base. You know, God does not like ugly. Whether you are Mormon or otherwise. Like the saying goes, "Karma is a bitch." One day perhaps that man is going to be asking, "Why me, Lord?"
Yeah, and he has the audacity to say he is hoping to get 38% of the Hispanic vote. Now granted, immigration is not the only issue on the minds of Hispanics, but how could anyone support someone who is so heartless and mean and says such degrading things about a people?
