Easy Akin
So. . .we all know that Akin said in public what 90% of the GOP voting base thinks it wants in private.
What if , Akin did the equal to cussing in front of the kids.. . .Hey kids .!! ? ? Just ignore that. . .ok ??. .
Inre: the twitter blurb above, Nobody is going to give up on the tax returns because we all know that Mitt caves to pressure when he sees it's in his best interest.
There are a number of Corollaries to the old (atrib. GB Shaw and Rincewind's wizard mentor in Discworld) saying "The true curse of a liar is not simply that they cannot be believed by others, but that they cannot ever truly believe others." The obvious one being that once you're notorious, everybody wants to verify your every utterance. Another is that liars have tells and follow patterns. (When you are not dealing in reality, you have to memorize the details of what you've told others rather than being able to rely on recalling the actual experience.) People who matter to Romney's ambitions are starting to pick up on those tells. The blood is in the water and Romney is beginning to thrash like an injured tuna.
Interesting article about Shauna Prewitt, lawyer and Skadden Associate, at www.americanlawyer.com., dealing with rights of the rapist when a pregnancy occurs.
Supposedly, Romney has an interview coming out explaining that the privacy of his tithing is the reason he is not going to release any more tax returns. Ann has said they give 10% which of course is the expected Mormon contribution. He makes it sound like Americans will not understand the large amounts that he and Ann contribute.
I wonder if the opposite is true: that he gives 10% of reported tax income to the Mormon Church, all the while he has so much money hidden by foreign entities that he does not tithe his 10% for.... Wouldn't that just be precious?
could we start a Poll Watcher Watchers group? kind of like hiring cops to follow the cops who are following you. i'd LOVE to hang out and watch the watchers. :)))
we could call ourselves the Pee-Wee-Wees.
It usually isn't a good sign about a campaign when the candidate is running away from his previous positions, refuses to discuss topics of current interest, and won't even share vague details about his policy proposals.
The use of charitable contributions as an excuse for not releasing tax returns is a real reach. So black out that section of Schedule A and show us the rest, Mitt. We'll wait for you to complete that onerous and time consuming task (that should take about five minutes).
If I could ask Romney one question it would be " Which of his five paternal grandmothers was his favorite?
To Rachel and team:
Thank you, thank you, thank you for continuing to bring up the fact that Ryan is, indeed, only going to be a heartbeat away from the Presidency! I know that in 2008, we were perhaps more observably concerned, due to McCain's possible health problems and Caribou's extreme ditziness, but the thought that Ryan could actually become President should something happen to a President Romney is what keeps me in a perpetual flopsweat (despite Ryan's deferral to the 'top of the ticket' at every turn). I simply haven't heard this mentioned elsewhere (yet).
Blessings to you for producing such an amazing and informative show.
Should there be an exception for rape or incest? Nonsense! The United States Supreme Court determined in 1973 that women have a fundamental right to decide this matter for themselves. Notwithstanding the revulsion inspired by Akin's ideas, if we are defending minor exceptions nearly 40 years after Roe, the left is in serious trouble.
They are trying to REPEAL the 1973 law and expand on restrictions. If they have their way Roe v. Wade will be HISTORY and nothing but.
There are only two legitimate ways (that word again) to nullify a Supreme Court ruling on a Constitutional right: amend the Constitution or get the Court to reverse itself. It's true states are chipping away at Roe by passing an array of restrictions on abortion. As Rachel demonstrated in a program a while back, pro-choice advocates have been afraid to challenge the constitutionality of these laws for fear of a reversal by the current court. I'm no authority but I believe it's time to take action and let the chips fall where they may, else there will be nothing left of Roe, as you suggest.
I live in St Lous, Mo. Todd Akin is a part of my every day life, even before his ignorant, misogynistic remarks. I think you should know and consider that he could actually WIN in MO for standing up and refusing to withdraw, and for no other reason. It's true. We are far from being alleviated by his plunders. However, I don't want him to drop out. Missouri is a notoriously Republican state. We have a better chance with him in the race.
I don't know any one who would vote for him in my area. St Louis is predominately black and Liberal. But the part of the state that elects Repubs are the poor, ignorant Ozark areas. They are ill educated, and do what they are told by their religious leaders and what they see on the 2 channels of tv they can get. We haven't yet found a piece of Obama meat to sell to the people who finished school in 8th grade and watch Fox2 News and channel 24, a religious owned station. Maybe you can help with that?
I welcome you or your staff to contact me on fb and give me an idea. We, in MO, are fighting for our lives.
