It's infuriating that disgusting incidents like these still occur.
Two attendees were removed from the Republican National Convention on Tuesday night after throwing nuts at an African-American camera operator for cable network CNN and taunting, "This is how we feed animals."
CNN confirmed the incident in a statement Wednesday morning. [...]
It is not yet clear what role the individuals who were removed played at the convention, although organizers did confirm their ejection in a statement.
"Two attendees tonight exhibited deplorable behavior," said convention spokesman Kyle Downey. "Their conduct was inexcusable and unacceptable. This kind of behavior will not be tolerated."
Convention organizers hoped to use a more diverse lineup of speakers last night to help send a more inclusive signal to the public.
It would appear some in the party still have a very long way to go.

The really horrible thing is that I don't think anyone is surprised. Look at the elements the GOP has embraced over the last four years and ask yourself if this is at all shocking.
I was surprised - that they were thrown out!
I'm sure the only reason they were thrown out is that they got caught. I'm also sure that in some corners of the right, there will be claims that the haynus librul CNN somehow provoked the incident.
What happened to "not the words I would have used", "they misspoke", or any other of the garbage they use to cover their team? Did the culprits "self deport"?
Entropy beat me to it. I am MORE than confident that it will be spun by the right that these were liberal plants sent to make it APPEAR as though racism was present. And what evidence will they turn to? Hey there was a black guy who spoke there so it was OK- really!
Mmm2- right.
Or- "They were just joking, and the joke went south. Why is everyone on the left so humorless?"
More such "jokes", if you are interested, from yesterday's post.
Considering what Nikki Haley said on stage (upset that she was thwarted in her desire to disenfranchise minority and poor voters), it seems all of a piece.
The two current excuses are: as people noted, that they were "Democrat (sic) plants"; and that they were protesting the media, and that it is racist for people to believe that they were aiming their insults at her because of race.
I too am surpirsed they were thrown out.
As terrible as this is to read, It is heartening to hear they were tossed. Those individuals who observed and interceded deserve recognition for acting in a just and civilized manner.
The problem is the Republican Campaign and Romney are Race Baiting and this is what happens when you do that. CONGRATULATIONS Romney and friends for playing on the fears and frustrations of people and turning it into anger against specific groups of people. God must be so proud of you "Good Christians".
Let us not forget at CPAC you had two members of two different White Supremacists Groups as speakers.
I don't think so. The only references to race I've heard are all from the left.
@Lorr - good point. I also can't give any kudos for their being tossed - given the mindset the GOP has been pandering to, it wasn't so much about what was said, it was where it was said - openly, in front of the national media. Can't have that.
That, my dear Shooter, is because you're every bit as deaf as you are stupid.
It is typical of trolls that they repeat their favorite lies over and over and over no matter how many times those lies are refuted.
Ivan...,
Not deaf, agressively dishonest.
If they actually had something worthwhile to say, they wouldn't be trolls.
Shooter: Peter Brimelow, founder of white supremacist site VDARE and Robert
Vandervoort - Check out CPAC they were both scheduled speakers. Another little tidbit: Republicans in Luzerne County, Pennsylvania have elected Steve Smith, a lifelong white supremacist with close ties to neo-Nazi groups and groups like Aryan Nations, to the county’s GOP Committee.
Oy this is such a logical fallacy I almost squirted coffee out of my nose reading it. OK not speaking about something doesn't mean that a. that something doesn't exist or b. that everything is OK. This is like saying that if you have a pain in your stomach and you ignore it, it will go away. Then you act SHOCKED when you end up in the hospital with stage 3 cancer. Pointing something out doesn't make the person saying as much a racist. But it does provide a scape goat for the immature of our society to excuse taking responsibility. Funny how that's always people on the right.
I would venture to guess they were tea party supporter's.Just a guess mind you.(Wink,Wink.)
But wait! There's more: http://www.harpers.org/archive/2012/08/hbc-90008805
I thought it was overblown, until I watched the clip. Disturbing. Even Priebus is bothered, and I thought he had no soul. The woman at the podium looks like she's going to cry.
Yee. Haw. Do you suppose any of those yahoos realize that, in all but official statehood status, Puerto Rico is part of the "U S A!"? Wait, that must be it - they were enthusiastically endorsing the concept of Puerto Rico's admission as a state. Right. Yessss. That's the ticket. /snark

;-)
I have no doubt that the only reason Priebus and other Rethuglicans were "bothered" is because they realized what a public relations disaster the situation could be.
Wow - that video is UGLY. An update to the article suggests the chanting started in response to Ron Paul people shouting "Point of Order!," but the clip doesn't lie. The USA! USA! chanters were all directing their snarls towards the stage.
I don't think Priebus was "bothered" by anything other than his loss of control. This is disgusting and pathetic. When faced with a woman who can speak at least two languages, these cretins feel seriously threatened. Waiting for the disavowal from Romney and Ryan. Just kidding.
Clearly, not everyone in the crowd was chanting "USA!" At 20 seconds in, the guy shown is chanting something entirely different. To me, it looks like he is chanting "Kick them out!" or something very close to that.
Today's GOP - "If you ain't white, you ain't right."
Clarification to #4.5 - I'm talking about the video linked above by Kevin K Ray, with the Puerto Rican woman trying to speak - not the two morons who got ejected from the convention.
Yes, watching the Nuremburg Party Rally, er, I mean the GOP convention, is certainly edjumacational, isn't it?
Remember that GWB rally that featured the "Mission Accomplished" banner? I immediately concluded that somebody (or somebodies) in that administration had carefully studied Leni Riefenstahl's film Der Triumph des Willens.
From Faux; Rest assured those sneaky dems won't get in again.
Oh please, any speculation about how much security Fox reporters will need at the Dem convention? More importantly any aggression thrown their way will likely be met with applause, rather than expulsion.
Once again you're shooting blanks. Should FAUX NOISE even have the balls to show up at the Democratic convention, they'll lie about what's happening anyway. Stop with the false equivalences, the GOP is still a party of racists - rich, old, white men need only apply!
Zora...,
I'm sure The Blank knows that and heartily approves.
Shooter, WTF? Since the dem convention is still in the future, your accusation is entirely in your imagination. A product of the way you think. Your thought process.
Aggression? Please. You have a history of referring to dems as weaklings and now all of a sudden dems are inciting aggression with applause.
And really...who's party has a history of applauding having people die because they do not have insurance or booing a gay soldier, or even booing showing compassion for non-documented immigrant children? Who's party has really cute pictures of Obama with a bone in his nose?
You must be looking into a mirror as you point your finger of accusation. And again, I remind you: You are accusing the dems of something that is in your imagination. I wonder how it even got there.
So if that's the way you play, when an OWS attendee rapes another, all of them are rapists? Is that how this insane troll logic works? When Harry Reid lies, all Democrats are liars? There are no black members for the republican party? No racists democrats? *cough - Senator Byrd - cough*.
Byrd disavowed his past, unlike Strom Thurmond, Jesse Helms, etc. But of course you know that.
Besides which, the only lefty *racist* name he could come up with is actually deceased.
Not only did he disavow it, he spent many years trying to atone for it. Isn't repentance and redemption supposed to be a good thing?
jcricket- right on! This is the point I've been trying to make and I don't know if I've been successful in articulating it. Shooter, RobDon, and Eric! constantly make references to things happening in the real world that aren't ACTUALLY happening. They are fantasies, they are beliefs, they are hypotheticals about what MIGHT happen. But they haven't actually taken place in the real world.
The gop have to make things up to be offended about , 100% of the time , it is the whole premise of the romney campaign , along with the gop house since 2010
"Mia Love, mayor of Saratoga Springs, Utah, and candidate for a U.S. House seat, took to the podium first and brought many members of the crowd to their feet. Love recalled her Haitian parents immigrating to the United States with but a few dollars in their pockets.
“When times got tough they didn’t look to Washington, they looked within,” she said. “President Obama’s version of America is a divided one — pitting us against each other based on our income level, gender, and social status. . . . We are not better off than we were four years ago, and no rhetoric, bumper sticker, or campaign ad can change that. Mr. President, I am here to tell you we are not buying what you are selling in 2012.”
That’s funny, because she seems to previously acknowledge that she had it easy because of those who came before her attempting to wipe out the racism that would have killed her chances in life.
“I never questioned my rights,” said Love, who was recently elected as Utah’s first black female mayor. “I’ve never been beat down. I’ve never been hosed down. I’ve never been confronted by snarling dogs. I’ve never had a burning cross in my yard.
“That is because of the people who have worked hard for us,” she said. Love, who was invited Thursday to speak at Hill Air Force Base’s observance of Martin Luther King Jr. Day, credits King’s dream of racial equality with helping generations of blacks to have a brighter future. ”
I guess she and her parents did it all by themselves
link for the above MLK speech
http://www.deseretnews.com/article/705358639/Mayor-Mia-Love-honors-Martin-Luther-King-Jr-in-speech.html
I wonder how well she would have succeeded if she were still in Haiti, instead of being the beneficiary of U.S. immigration.
Ms. Love seems to aspire to be some sort of American equivalent of Vidkun Quisling.
Seriously though, what did they expect. If you teach and encourage a dog to bark and bite
when it does, don't blame the poor soul.
We know clearly that race is a huge component in our politics and officials use race as an agenda they shouldn't be surprised. So much for the leadership they shout and cry about.
When i look back,i can say how much i appreciate Sen. McCain for not giving into this stuff.
Shooter--- no one here, including you, seriously believes that. FNC routinely covers Democratic party events without incident, and certainly not ugly racist incidents. Something like this happens, and you really want to minimize it in this way? Oh, please, indeed.
I think you mean to say Fox covers Dem events without incident, yes? We'll see won't we. Recalling the Paul Wellstone memorial I anticipate problems.
Meanwhile, I shall officially denounce the nuts, and declare that the RNC did the right thing throwing them out.
We all know a perfunctory disavowal when we see one, Blankywanky.
You think I mean to say? It's exactly what I did say. When was the Wellstone memorial? How many conventions ago? Hell, how many memorials ago?
Come to think of it, the Wellstone memorial? Really?? That's your go-to incident? While admittedly it was a bit of a pep rally, and maybe a little more partisan than it should of been, no one felt threatened. There was nothing menacing, and certainly not towards any reps of FNC. It's kind of disgusting that you would point to a ten year old event that had partisan overtones as the equivalent of this incident. If you're a paid troll, someone's getting screwed. If you're just a troll, well, reading comprehension's a good thing.
The Blank routinely engages in the typical troll practice of egregious misrepresentation (and many others).
I'm assuming Shooter confused RNC with FNC. This is why you have to actually read what people write instead of reading for key points to attack. Big difference.
While grovling like a tool , and lying about liberals ...
So now you think that comment is some how suppose to be impressive?
So now can we stop pretending that the hatred coming from the GOP corner at President Obama isn't bred in racism?
Zora...,
Unfortunately, those on the right (in general) will never stop denying their crass racism.
And for some on the right, it isn't bred in - it's inbred.
Yeah-- Tea Party, and inbred. The world's most monotonous Venn Diagram.
That's a Venn Diagram? I thought it was just a circle.
And yet as I watched last night, I saw not a single african american standing in the croud. The entire audience seemed to be caucasian.
Inclusive, my eye.
Actually I saw 3. One during Christie's speech ( a African American Male in a if my memory serves me correctly. He was wearing a Dark grey Suit and a Reddish Tie) He was standing on the floor. The other two I can't remember exactly whose speech they were shown during. But they were in the seats. Both in Black Suits.
Now granted most of the audience were of European decent. There were a few people in attendance who were of different races. A few Hispanics, most were of Asian decent though. But you still had to play "Where is Waldo" in order to find any of them.
So... it was a diverse crowd! They had both Caucs, and Asians!

There was some working the doors also : (
At a modern Republican convention this is a "dog bites man" story.
Alas.
This is the last hurrah for the "Grand" OLD Party. The next election will confine them to the dustbin of history with the Whigs. Too bad for a party that began life as valuing every person equally.
i would not argue that everyone in the modern republican party is a racist. i would argue that those who are feel a helluva lot more comfortable there than they would in the democratic party--they're among friends. i predict that within the day some msm sort will be bending himself into a pretzel trying to come up with a democrat equivalency.
I wouldn't argue that everyone in any organization the size of a modern political party is anything.
Still, one gets to be known by the company one chooses to keep. And now we all know the modern "Legitimate"-Rape-Public-CON party.

Lovely
Thank you for the link - Rush Limbaugh is so full of hate and anger and I did not think he could sink lower than the sewers he crawls out of everyday, but he has.
Surprised that they didn't get a standing ovation.
I wouldn't be surprised if the "removed" just means removed from those seats. They probably were upgraded to preferred seating...
CNN are the animals, race and gender neutral unless you are creating racial and gender conflict for some reason.
???????
Come on June, her race, gender and sexual preference had nothing to do with the food fight. It was directed at her employer.
I would be happy if someone said that they did not know why this person was targeted. There are many possibilities as to why. But you have no more reason to assume that it wasn't racially motivated than anyone claiming that it was. They are both postulations about what might have happened. They aren't factual claims about what did happen.
They aren't factual claims about what did happen. Agreed
Anger at nuts? Photojournalist Phobia? No, run with race and gender. Why?
And another wingnut wanker arrives to demonstrate how stupid stupid has to be to be ignorant enough to be one of them.
I'll give you credit, "bootstraps," you give pooper242 a run for its money in the braindead-idiot category.
I always find myself amazed at the ability of Republictrolls to see into the hearts and minds of others and divine true intentions that are contrary to the observed facts and the most obvious explanation for them. Just like they know Obama's "real" plan to turn us into the Soviet hellhole that is Sweden (except possibly without the five month nights in winter and tediously incomprehensible movies we're supposed to pretend to find engrossing).
They really enjoy speaking for the whole black community also
One more time f-sticks
run with race and gender. Why? Do you have anything else?
Well that didn't take long- you stay classy.
The blog did not make the accusation of race and gender bias. There is nothing in the posting that would indicate as much. People are making the assumption that it has to be race and gender bias because of previous incidents involving Republicans in which the motivation for harassment was race and gender bias. As I said if you were making the statement that it's premature to jump to that conclusion and were imploring everyone to keep in mind that it could be other possibilities then OK you'd have a logical point. But that isn't what you're doing. You propose another hypothetical that has zero background (at least the race and gender bias has some background to it to justify it's existence) and then you attack anyone and everyone who points out to you that this is a silly proposition.
I was "attacking" the LA f-stick, your comments are making my point. If there is a perception from the right that CNN political reporting has bias would that "background" justify my hypothetical?
Oh goody, another worthless troll spinning madly.
No it would not. A perception is also a hypothetical. You're saying that because people have a belief that X is true (when it is not) they then act on that false belief and then you justify their action by re-affirming the false belief. That's not a historic reference to point to why it could be something else; that's an enigma pretending to be a fact.
I don't get it. You'll cover two RNC attendees throwing nuts but you won't report on an RNC page that plotted to assassinate the leader of the free world.
Why is every major media outlet so afraid of this story?
http://gawker.com/5938288/leader-of-army-plot-to-assassinate-obama-apparently-attended-the-2008-republican-convention-as-a-page
Maybe there's a good side to this. Perhaps if there were a few African Americans willing to vote Republican on this ticket, they may have decided to give it another thought after this ridiculous but typical incident.
It's always fun to watch trash celebrate their ignorance in public.
OWS?
They were thrown out for not using the correct verbiage for their racist ideas. "Sons, until you learn how to mask your bigotry in the correct semantics, you can't be here."
At least no one from the RNC has blamed the cameramen for "playing the race card" yet.
I think they were thrown out because of they were showing their true views. Just as Todd Akin was. When you don't stick to the wink and nod script, you get thrown under the bus. They make no apologies for their racism. It just hurts when they get caught at it.
