Today's installment of campaign-related news items that won't necessarily generate a post of their own, but may be of interest to political observers:
* In Iowa, a key 2012 battleground, President Obama's lead is down to just two points over Mitt Romney, 47% to 45%. In May, Obama was ahead by 10 points.
* In Massachusetts, Elizabeth Warren's new ad stresses Republican opposition to women's rights and reproductive health. "How could this be happening in 2012?" the Senate candidate asks.
* Confirming another recent poll, Public Policy Polling shows a very competitive U.S. Senate race in Connecticut, with Rep. Chris Murphy (D) leading former wrestling executive Linda McMahon (R) by four points, 48% to 44%. The same poll found Obama ahead in Connecticut by 13 points.
* In Nevada, one of the nation's most competitive U.S. Senate races remains very close, with appointed Sen. Dean Heller (R) leading Rep. Shelley Berkley (D) by just two, 47% to 45%.
* The National Republican Senatorial Committee is growing increasingly concerned about the Senate race in North Dakota, and is buying millions of dollars in additional airtime, while scaling back efforts in Missouri.
* In Pennsylvania, a Philadelphia Inquirer poll shows Sen. Bob Casey (D) leading Tom Smith (R) by 19 points, 53% to 34%. This one won't be close.
* And in Arizona, Republican congressional candidate Gabriela Saucedo Mercer is raising eyebrows for saying she wants to end legal immigration for all Middle Easterners.

Does that mean when Jesus come riding on his dinosaur,he won't be welcome to Arizona?Because i don't think he had blue eyes and long blonde hair.
And this Lady is a Christian?
What's next? Let's keep the Zoroastrians out!!!! Keep the Latvians out of America, the scum........!!!!!
whatever all republicans are not right wing nuts....we think all of you are usually t hat way
I hope that people don't really think that fascism can't happen in this country. It almost did in the 1930's, and the roots are being planted right now. We need to tread a light path, and disembark from the policies that the insane right-wing is putting us on.
If not, the wingnuts' worries about brown-shirts and the Gestapo aren't going to be fiction, it's going to be real people like you and me being rounded up.
Don't think it can't happen. It absolutely can.
I want to say that Rachel was really professional as the lead anchor of last night's MSNBC's coverage. She kept everyone on message, between the speeches, and she highlighted the stuff that was left out of the speeches. She was awesome on the fact checks. I look forward to the same group tonight. Please tell Michael Steele to quit whining; Whalin' Van Palin can come to his house to speak, because it won't be happening in Tampa. Steele's strip club budget has been handed over to Rancid Priebus for the Tampa 'double dip.' Look out below! Keep up the good work, Rachel!
Re Elizabeth Warren vs Scott Brown: the latter has been proclaiming his pro-choice beliefs of late BUT we should not forget that he votes with the members of his party!
Even if he is pro-choice, it won't matter if the Senate is Repugnant majority body. His comrades will ride rough-shod over every civil liberty passed since FDR.
Vote Democratic!
The proof of his statement is in his votes, and I don't know what his NARL rating is. I am not voting in this election, but I would not vote for him for other issues. I could not count on Brown in a close senate vote, with a republican president, to protect the reproductive rights for women. I could see him voting on a personhood amendment as a favor to Willard. I don't have proof, and I would vote based on what I could find out from NARL and P.P...... This man could be a walking time bomb for women; beware.
I listened to warren rant last fall about if you are wealthy you didn't do it by yourself to an interviewer and nothing happened...skip to 6 months later and President Obama said almost the same thing. When will all of you wake up and realize we do not want to Share the Wealth we do not have!
If Linda McMahon wins her race in Con., will she make Triple H. her chief of staff? I would rather see CM Punk, but she will probably have to pick her son in law; he has won more titles. Don't you have to at least be a mayor at one time to at least begin to understand the skills needed to be a senator? Whoops, I forgot about no talent Arnold. My one adage on Pols: I don't go to movies with politicians in them, so untrained pol movie stars shouldn't be in congress........
I still want to see the ad where Elizabeth "Cherokee Princess" Warren gives us her positions on:
1. Strict enforcement of all federal treaties with Native nations.
2. Return of all treaty land to the tribes.
3. Native sovereignty over tribal treaty lands.
If she's going to claim to have tribal ancestry (which I don't believe for a second) she should have policy positions on these key issues for people in Native America.
Of course, if she's a liar, fraudster, and racist, in other words actually has no Native ancestry at all that she can document, she's probably ignorant on these issues. Just another Plastic White Wannabe.
Wow! i wish i had the luxury of your ignorance.
how can you assert with certainty what her genealogy is?
Please knucklehead keep it classy.
Politics is won not by arms but by arguments.
Angeleno; you weren't listening to TRMS, were you? Rachel already did a story that Ms. Warren is certified 1/32, the same as her tribal chairman. You should do your homework before you come on this site....... You actually sound like a birther, from your attitude; will you be asking for college transcripts next????? I would understand if you have native/tribal issues, but we are all people of color, and I need to remind you that the president is mixed race.
I am not really surprised to see some troll obsessing over Elizabeth Warren's race, but is that really the best that they can do. Surely there are more important issues other than the same wave of fear and hate to rally up the increasingly smaller group of the conservative base.
She has made only a verbal assertion without evidence to back it up. Since "she who asserts must prove," the burden is on her to produce the evidence, or admit her lie/fantasy/delusion.
We don't let the Repuglikkklans get away with this cheap, stupid tactic of making an assertion and then calling it proof. We have to be held to the same reasonable standard.
Besides the main point of my post is that, charitably allowing her assertion as true, she has to answer three questions of central importance to "her people" in Native America. If she can't, or won't, we have further evidence to question her credibility.
Yes, I saw the show, and neither Princess Warren nor the tribal chairman showed any evidence that she was in fact an enrolled member of the tribe. He only said that 1/32nd ancestry was qualification to be enrolled. You need to get your facts straight.
For generations, Native wannabes have been expropriating or lying about their tribal memberships to gain various advantages. Once it was a cut of oil revenues (Osage). Now it might be a cut of casino profits, affirmative action advantages, or EEO credit to your university.
Over the generations, unscrupulous people have used Native people to their advantage, and given nothing back. This sort of racist abuse has to stop.
I am only one of many who are challenging the liars, fraudsters, and racists who try to appropriate Native identity for persona gain. Your Civil Rights struggles took decades, and even now people still enjoy throwing peanuts and Blacks. Our struggle has gone on for 500 years! And it will continue to go on until the hate, stupidity, and abuse stop.
Getting peanuts thrown at you is disgusting. So is having your personal identity stolen for someone else's gain.
Elizabeth Warren duh, reminds me of a 60's wanna be. If we all look maybe we are one gazillioneth native American. If I were a Native American I would be outraged that someone so goofy and stupid would say that. she's the direct result of our lax, lazy, and entitled prof who think whatever dribbles out of their mouth must be golden.
Bob Casey in PA isn't exactly a win for Democrats-especially women democrats
Just this morning Romney is thanking his big dollar donors aboard a yacht that has the Caymen Island Flag hanging from it. How is that for out of touch optics? Or, maybe he is just so confident that he is going to win that he doesn't care if everyone knows that he is a tax dodging, ulber rich, idiot!

Oh, and one big donor happens to be the developer of the Villages. That's the place Paul Ryan took his mom to campaign in Florida. A little bit of a coincidence don't you think...I'm just saying!
I am so tired of republicans trying to ban birth control insurance converage and to tell women if an attack is rape or not. Makes me sick. Birth conrol is essential to family planning. Most families have 2 working parents or a woman on her own supporting the family. Having children is priceless, but unplanned pregnancies can seriously hurt a family financially.
