Today's installment of campaign-related news items that won't necessarily generate a post of their own, but may be of interest to political observers:
* It took a while, but it appears President Obama's donors have gotten back in the game -- in August, for the first time since April, the Democrat outraised Mitt Romney.
* In Ohio, Public Policy Polling now shows Obama leading Romney by five, 50% to 45%.
* Taking advantage of the nonpartisan Tax Policy Center analysis, the new Priorities USA Action ad slams Romney for intending to raise taxes on the middle class. The ad is set to run this week in Colorado, Florida, Iowa, Ohio, Virginia, and Wisconsin.
* In North Carolina, another 2012 battleground, PPP found Obama narrowly leading Romney, 49% to 48%.
* It's widely assumed that Obama is well positioned in New Mexico, but the latest Albuquerque Journal poll shows the president ahead by only five, 45% to 40%. Former New Mexico Gov. Gary Johnson, the Libertarian candidates, is at 7% in the poll.
* The same poll shows Rep. Martin Heinrich (D) leading former Rep. Heather Wilson (R) in this year's U.S. Senate race in New Mexico, 49% to 42%.
* Three days after picking its eight target states for 2012, the Romney campaign said it's going to contest Wisconsin after all, unveiling a new ad in the state over the weekend. Why the Romney campaign initially excluded Wisconsin in its massive ad buy, and then reversed course, is unclear.
* In Massachusetts, Sen. Scott Brown (R) has a new ad featuring President Obama telling him, in passing, "Good job" after a bill-signing ceremony.

Obama's team needs to quote Clinton's figues of 42 million jobs created in the Dems 24 years in office in a campaign ad ASAP. There's enough sound bites from Cilnton's speech to win this election.
The Albq Journal leans solidly to the right, so I'd take their conclusion that the NM race is narrowing with a Volkswagon-sized boulder of salt.
This morning's Journal does have an interesting column, however, by a NM judge describing how rape-induced pregnancies can lead to the victim being tethered to her rapist via custody and visitation rights. Talk about re-victimizing.

These are the questions the far right doesn't want to answer. I have more questions.
Who goes to jail if there is an abortion? The abortionist, the abortionists assistants and secretary. The person who drove the pregnant woman to the clinic. Anyone who knew the woman was going to have an abortion?
Will the rapist have to pay child support payments?
If the woman gives the child up for adoption, can the rapist adopt the child?
I don't think any of this has been thought through by the far right.

All three daily tracking polls show Obama expanding his lead in the presidential race over Mitt Romney.

ras' now has these numbers: Obama 49%, Romney 45%.
"Why the Romney campaign initially excluded Wisconsin in its massive ad buy, and then reversed course, is unclear."
Because this little factoid was widely reported, and the perception was that Romney was in trouble and cutting his losses, so in order not to appear weak, he was forced into an ad buy.
Dropping Wisconsin never made sense unless either their polling was showing them Wisconsin voters were so sick of ads after the recall they'd punish anyone who ran more or else they were counting on Scott Walker to steal it for them for free. But the polling seems to show the post-Ryan race in Wisconsin is closer than some of the other states Romney and the totally-not-affiliated-or-coordinated-with-romney-crazy-billionaire-money groups are carpet bombing with ads. And it's not like they're running out of cash.
But once the MSM noticed he was out, their reasons for getting out became moot because, without Wisconsin in play, the EV math gets really, really, really hard for them and it was being noticed.
A fantasy inspired by Stephen King's "Thinner". A gypsy curses Mitt, in public, so that every time he tells a lie he loses a pound. Imagine the fun asking Mitt "are you losing weight'. Got him either way. Anyone know a powerful gypsy? Talk about a candidate fading from public view.
So......the President telling Scott Brown 'good job' kind of lays waste to the LIE that Obama doesn't engage with the GOP Congress?
Feeling very good about the PPP Ohio Poll. Of course Obama is not guaranteed to win Ohio, but I've always felt he has a real advantage there because of the auto bailout. I'm also feeling good that Sen. Sherrod Brown still leads in Ohio. I live in NY, but Brown is my favorite senator. GO OHIO!
"Why the Romney campaign initially excluded Wisconsin in its massive ad buy, and then reversed course, is unclear."
Over at Politico, Allen and Vandehei (who are idiots, but have good GOP contacts) report: "Two officials intimately involved in the GOP campaign said Ohio leans clearly in Obama’s favor now, with a high single-digit edge, based on their internal tracking numbers of conservative groups"

If Romney loses Ohio, and Wisconsin's out of play, then Romney has to win every other swing state besides New Hampshire in order to win the election.
So they had to reopen Wisconsin just to pretend that Romney has some credible chance of winning the election if he loses Ohio, given that Ohio looks to be slipping away.
This may be off subject but, I just received voter info in the mail which stated that I now need 3 pieces of documentation in order to vote and they have re-districted all the voting places from last year. And the documention that is needed also is time sensitive which means it needs to have a date of within 90 days. So, the place where I have been going to vote for the last 25 years has now been changed, the new location where I am supposed to go vote , was not disclosed. So, people will have to find out on their own where to vote. If this isn't voter suppression then I don't know what else you would call it. All this is deliberate and it is going to confuse everyone especially the elderly who will deliberately vote Democratic once they figure out where to vote. Something seems fishy about the early voting also, I have a feeling they are going to disqualify voters, without telling them so that their vote won't count and they won't even know about it.
Can anyone tell me why it was not mentioned at the Democratic Convention nor on any of the networks covering President Obama that he received the Nobel Peace Prize in 2009? To me, that was a very important point to bring out in this campaign.
Rush Limbaugh claims the Chicago teachers strike is a Dem election ploy so that Rahm Emanuel and Obama can resolve it in a few days and take credit.
Rachel you are just having too much fun reporting on the Mitt/Ryan campaign. I haven't stopped laughing. Laughing is my defense mechanism because I just can't believe how poorly that campaign is being ran. Here I thought McCain and Palin was bad. Wasn't it Ruppert who said fire the campaign staff and get someone who knows what they are doing? Well they may just want to fire Mitt and Ryan instead.
