A time-lapse video of One World Trade Center under construction.
Here's the schedule of 9/11 memorial events today.
The Obama and Romney campaigns are suspending negative ads today in honor of 9/11.
Journalist Kurt Eichenwald on the Bush administration neocons and 9/11.
For those who care, the Nicki Minaj presidential endorsement question is answered.
Gun sales are up.
RIP, Ron Taylor.

Since I was in the area that day and had to evacuate from Brooklyn Bridge, I've always felt a kinship. I observe the day by doing some service project and then listening to the WTC Memorial reading of names.
Yes, perhaps Ms Maddow could host an anniversary history lesson on the incident. With special guest Michael Moore telling all what "really happened" and have a voice over interjection now and again by Mellisa Harris Perry stating that it was all to promote a racist reactionary response America the bastard country could use to exhibit (like it always has historically) a racist vengence against an imagined enemy.
You people listen to this crazy talk then call others who disagree with you, they are "crazy"?
Oh boy, this is right in Maddow's sweet spot. Hit a home run tonight with this one Doctor. hahahahahaha
And all of you will shake your fists at the sky spewing hatred and vile comments against the devil, George Bush and heck throw in Dick Cheney for good measure.
Yup, I'm the mentally challenged one.
wow...who's shaking their fist and spewing hatred?
You forgot to say "Get off my lawn!".
You need a time out.
I am not sure that you should use a plural to describe the caring about what minaj thinks about anything.
I look forward to on entire day where the discussion is not partisan, but rather respectful memory of the people we lost and embracing the people that worked to get us through this crisis. I think we should wait till tomorrow to remind Republicans that they let the 9/11 mastermind go free for eight years, an President Obama nabbed him. I think we should wait till tomorrow to remind people that Republicans wanted/still want us to turn our backs on the 9/11 responders
And they are doing the voter purge in Texas too - with limited success...http://www.chron.com/news/houston-texas/article/Voter-purge-canceled-in-wake-of-faulty-death-data-3854756.php
These Republican strategies are variants of the Reichstag Fire of early Nazi Germany. If you need a scapegoat (Jews then;illegal immigrants now), create your own crime and blame it on the scapegoat. If you want to do something wrong, invent a "problem" (nonexistent voter fraud now, Jewish subversion back then) so that your activity looks like a "solution." The Big Lie theory (tell a lie often enough and everyone will think it must be true) goes back to that same era (Joseph Goebbels, Hitler's propaganda minister). Probably just a coincidence. After all, the Nazis were ruthless ideologues who'd stop at nothing to ... ... oh ... never mind.
The remembrance of 9/11 serves to demonstrate that the sacrifices made for the freedoms we enjoy have been unequally borne by some and enjoyed by all.
"Blue Water, White Death", now there's some great memories from my childhood.
Along with "The Mysterious Monsters" with Peter Graves.
The weather is beautiful today in NY, just like it was 11 years ago. This day makes me so sad. 11 years later, but it doesn't seem that long. Like so many others, I lost someone very close to me that day. She was truly a kind soul. I don't watch the coverage anymore. It's more than I can handle. But I'll never forget.
My heart goes out to you. I didn't lose anyone but do remember the fear of waiting to hear from my Aunt and Uncle who live in NYC. My Uncle would go to the gym at the WTC everyday, but wasn't feeling well that day so didn't go.
Interesting observation - Texas officials are whipping up the frenzy over boarder crime that doesn't seem to exist....

God bless anyone that has passed, was injured, or helped with the 9/11 tragedy. The first responders were true heroes.....
Willard calls for Rahm Emmanuel to hold fast in the strike against the teachers, then calls out for the president to help the children of Chicago! That is not a flip flop, that is talking out of both sides of his brain.
It's a few days late, but maybe it's a good little pick me up for the day: The Annual Anniversary comic, to celebrate another great year of the Maddow Show timewarp.
Ha! Rachel as the Doctor..that's too awesome for words!
(And I think it is a Great freehand TARDIS!)
Are you going to be covering the Chicago teacher strike?
Is Willard for or against his own health plan today??? See Gene Robinson's excellent article in syndication today. Someone calls Paul Krugman a "commie" today to prove that they know how to use big words! Helping people is not socialism or communism; it is the 'ism' of helping people. Not everything in caring for people is a sound bite.....
I just finished Eboo Patel's book Sacred Ground, which discusses interfaith work using the "World Trade Center Mosque" anti-Muslim brouhaha as its starting point. I was sad that day, like most everyone. But I can't help but wonder what our world would be like if it had been treated like a criminal act rather than an act of war. How many fewer lives would have been lost in two wars fought in the name of "justice."
Well since we all know that the Iraqis did not have anything to do with 9/11 and there were no WMD's those wars were a crime and no justice was sevred by starting them.
