Today's installment of campaign-related news items that won't necessarily generate a post of their own, but may be of interest to political observers:
* President Obama's re-election campaign isn't done targeting Mitt Romney over women's health, launching a new ad on the issue this morning. The spot, which I believe is the fifth Obama ad on Romney and reproductive rights, will begin airing today in Colorado, Iowa, Nevada, Ohio, and Virginia today.
* In response to Romney's relatively modest ad buy in Wisconsin, the Obama campaign is also investing in the Badger State. It's unclear at this point how large the Democrats ad buy is.
* A SurveyUSA poll in Florida shows Obama with a modest lead over Romney, 48% to 44%.
* The same poll suggests Florida's U.S. Senate race slipping away from the GOP, with Sen. Bill Nelson (D) leading Rep. Connie Mack IV (R), 47% to 36%.
* Earlier in the year, Obama's team hoped to keep Arizona competitive, but PPP shows the state out of reach for the president. More important, however, is Arizona's U.S. Senate race, in which Rep. Jeff Flake (R) now has a very narrow lead over Richard Carmona (D), 44% to 43%.
* Texas Sen. John Cornyn, chairman of the powerful National Republican Senatorial Committee, reiterated yesterday that he won't help Todd Akin in Missouri. I'm still not sure I believe him.
* In New Hampshire, Ovide Lamontagne (R) and former state Senate Majority Leader Maggie Hassan (D) won their respective primaries yesterday, and will face off in this year's gubernatorial race.
* And in an unfortunate twist, the Romney campaign appears to have literally copied donation instructions from the Obama campaign's website. The Republican campaign has since corrected the error.

Mitt Romney's the guy who paid the smart kids to do his homework, isn't he?
Except that in this case, it seems more like he paid some dumb kids to copy from the smart kids...

Proving Two Rights DO Make a Wrong!
;-)
Mitt must have suffered severe brain damage in the car accident in France. He actually believes he is competent beyond a boardroom, surrounded by yes-men and sycophants. His handlers now must be blowing smoke up his a$$ and if he is truly speaking their message one must question what they are smoking. Mitt, is the worst major party candidate in my long lifetime, with no evident redeeming qualities. Nixon was a self-absorbed egotist but had basic governmental skills and obvious intelligence.
Having copied the donation instructions off of Obama's webpage, did any Romney donors send Obama money? :} (s/o)
The Romney staffers' lack of professionalism is astounding. Are they all friends of Reince Priebus?
Nope. They are formally of Dubya and co.
Spoiler alert: I present the following only as humor.
Tomorrow's Headlines: Paul Ryan, a noted disciple of Russian Atheist Ayn Rand, refused to answer why the anagram for Ryan is ayn R.
Rachel was puzzled about how Paul Ryan could stumble so awkwardly on the national stage. But it feels glaringly self-evident to me.
It would appear as if both Ryan and Romney are performing as men lacking in fundamental and intrinsic integrity. On stage they must always, assuage the militant far right, blanket the electorate in known falsehoods, stray far from pet competencies, refuse to all circumspection and reflection in favour of appearing unchangeable. Ryan, in particular, looks like more mouthpiece than man now.
When you don't believe in what you say, when you are forced to entrench mistruths, when you stray from your interests and expertise, you are bound to flounder.
Being a President is much more than righting an economy with predictable taxation models, it's demonstrating an unwavering vision for issues and interests both domestic and abroad. The US is a net that is inextricably linked to a global complex.
The Republicans are imploding when they must tamper with electoral registration, take away rights, and use Fox to feed ignorance to the masses.
As goes the political, so goes the personal. This is the essence of trickle down economics and the sum total is a ticket that has no solid principles on which to stand.
