Ten days ago I asked you for suggestions for names for my two monarch caterpillars, then what with work and the beginning of the school year and all, my 3rd-grader and I took forever to go through your suggestions and pick something. But last night, the decision was made. I'll let my kid tell you what we're calling the little buggers:
For those who couldn't watch the video, the bigger caterpillar is now named "Chaos" and the smaller one is named "Buttercup." Thanks, Morgan Alsbrook and JohnDrake6.
And it looks like we named Chaos just in time. This morning it crawled to the top of its shoebox, so I think the process of making a chrysalis is about to begin.

Chaos above, Buttercup below.

Thank you very much for this enjoyable respite!
Yea! Thanks for the updates...
Aww.. she's adorable! Thx for sharing with us!
This is the kind of in-school activity that turns children on to science! Way to go, teacher!
Now that Chaos has been duly named, it obviously realizes it's time to pupate and create the Butterfly Effect!

Thanks for sharing these updates! (The pictures and the videos are great.)
Oh yeah - I almost forgot - Buttercup's cool, too! :D
The Republican war on caterpillars has gone too far.
Too smart and too funny, Steve, a very dangerous combination to have in a child :)
You're going to have your hands full with that one.
Finally something that crawls on its belly that is not a GOP running for office.
Lord knows I love ranting about the wingnuts and putting down the trolls, but these little interludes are like a drink of cold, clean water after a hot day mucking a pig sty. Thank you.
