I am calling on all active military personnel and veterans to leave the Republican party NOW!
You tell them General! As a vet myself I can tell you just how much I love being ordered or volunteered but then again I really feel like telling you where to stick it.
You almost make me want to become a republican---almost.
I dont understand your reply Paul. Are you saying that the repukes killing the Vets bill is ok???
Let's call on all republicans to leave the government now too so that our veterans can receive better benefits.
the problem with the gop in congress they do not care about veterans first. it is ok when we are fighting for them.when it is time to help us they turn us down everytime.
I mailed two letters to my Washington State senators, Patty Murray and Maria Cantwell yesterday. I told them both that I was outraged at the filibuster and that the GOP's fashionable intransigence is precisely what makes people hate politics.
You people are so easy to lead around by the nose, and Democrats do it each and every day. Don't any of you nitwits wonder why Republicans would block a political no brainer? And no, it's not just because they're mean.
http://www.policymic.com/articles/15164/veterans-jobs-bill-shafted-why-politics-not-the-gop-is-to-blame-here
Shooter242!!! Please when you provide a link, make you sure you've understood what the Article is taking about and how their facts, counter claims made by the opposite side.
The article is based on an ideology, essentially a hypothesis and they didn't explain to the audience(non-gullible audience) why they shouldn't be outraged.
That's a Postulate and the post fail to show any evidence to back its claim.
Since the article throws out talking points as facts, let me make a claim here.Republicans, after 8 years of Republican-led spending, just don't want anyone else to have a chance to spend on issues that are helpful to the 47%. Simultaneously, when veterans inevitably wonder why they can't get a job, the Republicans will point to a Democratic Administration and blame Obama. It's like every other funding request that's happened over the last 4 years: Underfund it,then complain that it isn't working and then try to privatize it, for some private douches profit. That is what happened with military contracts and public schools.I hope they won't tell us later to privatize the military too or infrastructure(roads, bridges etc).
And finally,$1 billion over 5 years seems a pretty modest investment in the lives of our veterans. Just because "we have a total of 6 jobs programs already available to veterans" doesn't mean we can't or shouldn't have a 7th.So your reasoning is that because that are already existing programs (which you clearly state address entirely different sectors), the million unemployed veterans should just wait and try and make those work and if nothing happens, then, well, tough luck?
Can you understand why this looks completely nuts when people like Tom Coburn step up and complain about a billion dollar bill that is offset or paid for when under Bush, he was effectively calling Democrats traitors and unpatriotic for not signing off on $800 BILLION in UNFUNDED commitments?
The Republicans may have had a legitimate point in their opposition to this bill. The problem is that their unbelievable and consistent hypocrisy on this issue vacates their credibility.
I hope enough veterans are paying attention to this charade.
The Republicans do not support our troops, they only support adding weapons of mass destruction to our stock pile of ammunition in order to further their plans of inhabiting other Countrys, setting up shop and taking those peoples' money. I think we should shut down all the embassys, it appears disrespectful and bullish. Do we have other Countrys' embassys here?
Mostly tho, repukes are interested in enriching gov contractors.
Actually the veteran's bill was entirely paid for- I was just going to post this, but it seems that Khay beat me to it. And the point of the bill was to extend funding to currently existing programs as well as expand options. Hence why it's a funding bill. Republicans refusing it is Republicans playing politics and then blaming Democrats for having the audacity to try to do something.
Hell at least if RobDon came on now and claimed that "both sides do this" I could agree. But now you're just calling the kettle black.
Your quality of trolling has gotten so poor since the convention Shooter. For shame.
I hope every major newspaper publishes this story along with the names of each senator and how he/she voted. This is disgraceful.
Tried telling these kids that when "they're" done with you "they'll" @!$%# on you.
Who are "they"?
The American People.
When the American people tire of war and the bills come due and the Vet and what was promised will cost too much people will figure out a way to get rid of you.
I know, I'm a Vet.
I figured it would be the Republican doing the dirty work.
.
Apparently you don't know about the six other veteran's job programs available. Feel free to apologize for being ignorant.
What other jobs bills? That's a dirty word to the Republican Congress.
I guess shooter is still researching his troll line.
I would like you to post the graph that Rachel showed tonight (9/21) about your program's typical number of "likes," "comments," and "shares" on Facebook in comparison to the number resulting from the story about the disgusting defeat of the Veterans' Jobs Bill by Senate Republicans.
OK, here I am in the stupid question department. Somebody answer this for me, cuz I don't know, and you'd think I would, as I've done it before.
Meaning, I've amended tax returns because of errors, sometime after the return was filed, and paid the difference. Why? I made a math error or something (this was back before I was totally TurboTax-devoted-- love how it checks my math).
Here's my question: If someone files a tax return as X, and then sometime later, files an AMENDED tax return, will the corrected, amended tax return bear the DATE STAMP of the time of the amendments? Or is the AMENDING invisible on the new, corrected tax form?
What I'm asking is how much invisible erasure can take place, or whether it is impossible to modify tax returns and not have it bear the date (or dates) it was later amended.
Does that make sense? If there is a cleanup operation, will it be visible or invisible?
Chris . . . The amended return is a separate tax return, with its own filing date. That date is important because, among other things, it resets the statutory period within which that return can be audited by the IRS. (If fraud is involved, there is no statute of limitations and the IRS can review that return forever.)
The amended return (filed on Form 1040X, which summarizes the changes) includes the recalculations done on the main 1040 form and any supplemental schedules on which amounts have been changed for any reason.
One interesting aspect of Romney's potential amendment is that he will not only receive a refund for the amount of his overpayment on the original return. He will also get a hefty additional amount, representing interest at a far above market rate for the period between the original due date and the date of the amended return.
Thank you, mpguy! It relieves me a bit to know that you can't just invisibly amend returns and pass them off as the original thing you filed (which is what I imagine Romney's accountants are busily doing with those ten years of returns that he won't make public).
"A man who is good enough to shed his blood for his country is good enough to receive a fair deal when he gets home" - Teddy Roosevelt
*Quoting from memory so my apologies if the 'actual' quote is slightly different but his intended meaning remains the same*
You know republicans, they send troops into foreign lands to secure freedom and democracy while they keep screaming at us all that America is a republic not a democracy. So this vote should not be a surprise at all.
The first Republicans were called Publicans, they originated in Greece, around 40 B.C. They were the original tax collectors and worked for the Hellenist, taking money from already impoverished people. They were always on the side of the rich. They invented the term class warfare, by participating in it. The Republicans of today are just REpeating history, the World cannot survive as long as there are deceitful practices designed to hurt others.
During tonight's show, you showed a graphic picturing Thurston Howell III representing the "average millionaire" and his or her taxes of 25%. I thought it was very cute... THEN, I noticed the Sounders logo..
Yes, the barely recognizable (even in HD) logo of crowning the captain's hat of Mr Howell appeared to be that of my favorite soccer team, Seattle's Sounders FC.
Is Thurston Howell a Sounders fan? That's wonderful! But... Thurston is fictional, and I think the actor Jim Bakkus died about 20 years ago. I'm guessing your graphics team just found the pic on the internet... but still...
I think Rachel needs to give a shout out to the SOUNDERS as compensation for this association of the best soccer team in the USA with uncaring, tax-skirting millionaires!
The Republicans tried to send their defective candidate back to the manufacturer but God said, "Hey I was having a bad day when I made him. I totally forgot to insert empathy, I put a gold coin where his heart should be, and I put one foot too close to his mouth. Keep him till the election because I want my creation with the largest soul to win re-election. After that, I'll send this defect to the Cayman Islands to be with his true love".
Chris, an amended tax return
is called a 1040X. So, actually both your questions are correct. The paper copy
of an amended return receives date stamp. The computer copy (for Service eyes
only) shows dates and code. If there is a cleanup operation the Internal
Revenue Service, your tax attorney and you know for sure. Some wealthy try to play tax games and resubmits 1040 not a 1040X, so to someone looking on the return seems late not amended.
I was not brought up to lump tithes and church donations into the same category as charity or philanthropy. Just because a change in the tax schedule has lumped it all on the same line, does not make it so.
"...tax games" is right. The schedules, I couldn't see HAVE to be works of art. It also seems to me that this election year has been stranger than the ususal uproar.
namaste, mlk/milady
Rachel, I think you do a brilliant job of describing current politics.
I am always amazed that so many Americans are taken in by the crazy Republicans.
What I would like to see more of is information about the psychological underpinnings of the Republican mindset. There must be surveys that get at this. There must be ways to ask questions that measure racism, and other forms of bigotry. There must be ways to identify and define the fundamental factors driving them. Actually I have a background in survey techniques and some ideas about how to approach this.
If they can deny ecology, physiology, biology and history, I doubt they would be swayed with more science. Now If you could pull off their mask and show the secret upper anus that they talk through you probably would have a winner.
I think the truth has power. The reason what we say rolls off their backs is that we're dealing with what they say - which is far from the driving truth. If their argument is not the real reason for their thinking then there is no possibility of defeating it by addressing what they say.
Obama has been lying to you for over a week now to protect himself and the attackers. You're going to be upset that Romney gave too much to his church and not enough to Govt?
Where are your priorities?
One day the Mormon church will wake up and realize that they were also part of an elaborate scheme, in which Romney bribed them for their vote. He has been devising his schemes for a very long time. Too bad for him that truth prevails. You can't buy the Presidency you have to earn it. If Romney wins they should put the cuffs on him and charge him with stealing the American vote, the American dream and the very principles for which we stand.
Oh and lastly, for the nitwit tweet above, the issue is that Social Security no longer pays for itself, and that is a problem. And no there is no lockbox, and no the bonds in the trustfund are not a separate pool of money to draw on.
Gad.
Some things don't even have to pay for themselves, because they are too precious, too important to subject them to a harsh cost-benefit analysis.
None of the latest wars paid for themselves either, you know, but you set your own priorities.
Now troll me.
SS and Medicare would have been paying for themselves just fine, thank you, had we not adopted this "no tax increases ever, anytime, for anything" idiocy the Republicans started pushing in 1993.
Until then, on a very much bipartisan basis, we very slightly, almost imperceptibly, increased the tax rates for the two programs based on actuarial factors. Some years, we didn't increase the total tax rate, but adjusted it between the two components.
It's going to be painful, but we need to go back to doing that. We have 20 years of catching up to do.
Once again shooter is misinformed by his fox guru. SSI is still working on a surplus and will do so for years. The issue the right tried to pass off was that SSI will start to rely solely on money coming in ....someday. Of course their speculative bull is based on the economy remaining on a downward spiral under republican rule.
I was going through some old film footage of the Salt Lake Olympics and found Romney giving this opening ceremony speech.
"You're all scum, and you know it, but some of you have a chance here to prove that you're a bit more than that...But I want a good show...and I don't want any kiss-in-the-ring stuff...These games are being degraded by the increasing use of professional tricks to stay alive, and I won't have it...I know every trick in the book including the pig's blood in the bladder. So put on a good show, and there'll be plenty of money for the living and a decent burial for the dead." (Thanks to Brontepunk for the quote.)
Well, not really, but couldn't you imagine him saying it?
Yes, while wearing a grass skirt, sipping on a tall umbrella drink.
A few months ago, the megamillions lottery jackpot reached a record $640,000,000.00. When a winning number was drawn, three tickets with that number had been sold. Romney was asked by a reporter what he thought about that. He asked, "Well, how much money do these people actually get?" A reporter estimated, "If they choose the cash option, around $100,000,000.00 each after taxes." "A hundred million," Romney said, shaking his head, "You know, when I'm the president, I'm going to do something to help poor people like that."
Wow John McCain voted down veterans getting jobs. John McCain, a veteran, prisoner of war, champion of the military...say what? What is wrong here. Do these people want to be voted in for another money making term or not?
This reminds me of G.W. Bush's unconcern when Florida was called for Gore in the 2000 election, because he knew Florida was in the bag. Question: what should be our national response if this election is stolen?
There was a curious troll named Shooter
Who was quite the Maddowblog polluter
Rude little fella
But I'm here to tell ya
Ole Shooter could use a good neuter
Line 73 of that tax return shows a REFUND to be applied to 2012 estimated taxes.
Tonight I watched NBC news at 6:30. The only political news they discussed was the RMoney campaign, where he was, what he said, and what his VP selection said. There was not one word about the President including his Saturday morning message about congress leaving without doing their job or the failure in the Senate to pass the veterans job bill. So, unless one watches MSNBC, the Democratic coverage by the NBC Corporation is not much better than Fixed News!
I wonder if the NBC news staff even watches what is on TRMS.
Why isn't this front page news!!!

Mitt Romney has stated many times, that he tithes 10% to the Mormon Church. Based on the informatoin we have been given, his reported income was $13.7 million dollars. This should have resulted in him giving $1.37 million to the Mormon Church. However, he gave $2.6 million, which would indicate that his reported income him should have been $22.6 million dollars. This would then result in a $9 million discrepancy. This does not even take into effect all the other unreported millions he has in the Cayman Islands, Switzerland and so forth.
Hedzup #1 Re Romney's "47 %" video, per @AnneOnymous670
RT Please! I'm about to be sued by a millionaire vulture. Does anyone know a good lawyer? "
Apparently Mark Leder, et al., is filing a SLAPP suit against this source? Already talk of a defense fund. As if Leder is a victim?! LOL. He doesn't have grounds. Wondering if Leder has secured his own golden parachute from Sun Capital? Will David Corn/MotherJones and James Earl Carter IV continue their support of this very brave source. Idea to share: please get Kevin Bankston to weigh in on this?
Hedzup #2:PA Senator Daylin Leach will debate PA GOP Mike Turzai, http://youtu.be/EuOT1bRYdK8, today on Fox today at 1:30. Yeah, the guy who revealed the real reason for Voter ID in PA, to disenfranchise enough voters to secure a Romney win. MUST WATCH ! Daylin is my state senator. I'll post links, clips of Daylin's appearance later today on FB.
Thank you Will Femia and the whole TRMS crew.

Re @AnneOnymous670 and Leder's SLAPP suit, it has NO grounds and he knows it. Seriously, talk to @JasonLeopold /Truthout lead investigative reporter, @KevinBankston and/or @EFF Digital law experts, @ClaraJeffery MoJo Editor. At the very least, @DavidCornDC should be @AnneOnymous670 's champion?!
