With his "47 percent" scandal taking a serious toll on his campaign, Mitt Romney is now investing quite a bit of effort into demonstrating empathy. It's evident in his new, minute-long campaign ad -- the one in which he talks directly into the camera and refers to the middle class as "them" instead of "you" -- and it was clear in an interview with NBC News late yesterday.
For those who can't watch clips online, Romney said, "Don't forget, I got everybody in my state insured. One hundred percent of the kids in our state had health insurance. I don't think there's anything that shows more empathy and care about the people of this country than that kind of record."
Hmm. For two years, Romney has gone to almost-comical lengths to avoid mentioning his Massachusetts health-care reform law -- as of this morning, the health-care page on his website still includes zero references to his only meaningful accomplishment in public office -- but now that there's a video in which Romney is seen trashing half the population as lazy parasites, "Romneycare" is suddenly relevant again.
But the new argument is not without flaw. Romney's Massachusetts law is, the argument goes, proof of empathy and concern for families. But this is the same Romney that's eager to destroy the Affordable Care Act -- which was modeled after Romney's law -- which would in turn take coverage and benefits away from millions of working families.
This is an issue Romney seems to struggle to understand, but there's nothing compassionate about arguing in effect, "That great thing I did as governor? Yeah, I promise to do the opposite as president."
Indeed, the argument really falls apart when one realizes that Romney's comments to NBC News came immediately after an event in which the Republican candidate condemned "Obamacare" as an example of everything that's wrong with President Obama's vision of government.
Romney has said more than once he considered his state law a model for the nation, and Obama took him up on the idea. If elected, Romney intends to undo what he said he wanted to do, while pointing to the law he no longer wants to emulate as proof of his "empathy."
Is he being empathetic or just pathetic?

Generally, when someone tells you how honest they are, you know they really aren't. And when they tell you how empathetic they are by promising to repeal something they claim is good, well they are both NOT empathetic and a bit loopy.
So I have been researching the affordable care act and its effects on small business. I have spoke to many small business owners lately and they are not in support of Obama Care. Here is 1 of many examples why.
- NY House Rep Ann Marie Buerkle has reported that a medical device company named Welch Allyn just laid off 10% of its workforce. The reason? Obama Care is full of taxes. One is a 2.3% excise tax on any and all medical device companies. This tax is not even on the profits but on total revenues. Yes, this means a company that is trying to make it but is loosing money will be assessed this excise tax regardless.
One more real life example on how Obama Care is killing small business across the US. Anyone care to comment on this?
This tax does not even take effect until 2013.
The company is doing a global restructuring. I think they are looking to blame lay offs on anything they can. Even one of the retired employees makes a comment on how bad the current management has been acting. Sounds like current management wants to play politics.
Here is a story about the layoffs, check the comments:

Here is a link to an article refuting the effects of the excise tax.
http://www.cbpp.org/cms/?fa=view&id=3684
There main points:
■The medical device industry is not being singled out. The excise tax is one of several new levies on sectors that will gain business due to health reform. The expansion of health coverage will increase the demand for medical devices and could offset the effect of the tax.
■The tax will not cause manufacturers to shift production overseas. The tax applies equally to imported and domestically produced devices, and devices produced in the United States for export are tax-exempt.
■The tax will have little effect on innovation in the medical device industry. To the contrary, health reform may well spur medical device innovation by promoting more cost-effective ways of delivering care.
Does anyone know who really got the health care for the people of Massachusetts?I would think it was Kennedy.Someone from Mass said that he Romney came in at the end and just signed on the dotted line. There were many people before him that fought for those benefits. He is taking credit for someone else sweat blood & tears.
Empathy, Catholics and the Polls…
(Daniel Burke, Huffpost, Religion News Service, 09/27/2012) President Obama's support among Catholic voters has surged since June, according to a new poll, despite a summer that included the Catholic bishops' religious freedom campaign and the naming of Rep. Paul Ryan, a Catholic, as the GOP's vice-presidential candidate.
On June 17, Obama held a slight edge over Mitt Romney among Catholics (49-47 percent), according to the Pew Research Center. Since then, Obama has surged ahead, and now leads 54-39 percent, according to a Pew poll conducted on Sept. 16.
The Gospels tell us that we are to strive to be Christ-Like to use Christ as our "EXAMPLE" in life and in our decisions. Jesus, did not have an indifference to the poor, the aged or the disenfranchised, quite to the contrary he spoke for them. Jesus did not lie to his people in order to accomplish the greater good, if your message is good there is no reason to lie. I don't know what has happened to the Republican Party but they no longer share my Christian Values and as a Catholic, I will be voting for President Obama, he may not be perfect, but then NO ONE IS, but he does share my Christian Values.
The HOLY SCRIPTURES reference the poor and social justice 300 times. Mitt Romney’s reference to the 47% was anything BUT Christ-like. His on-going deceptive ads; his indifference to the struggles of the American Middle Class and the poor; and his immoral love of money over humanity are troubling to Catholics.
Case in point, Romney newest video release by Mother Jones, in which Romney confirms the mission of Bain Capitol was to “HARVEST” profits from company’s they invested in, not to create a company to grow American Jobs. Money before humanity, a lack of EMPATHY!
His new political ad, where he speaks directly to the camera, is a hollow attempt to gloss over the devastating realization that Mitt Romney cares only about his wealthy friends and not the 47% of Americans which include, seniors, veterans, students, our Troops in Harms way; the working poor, the sick and the poor in spirit. Fool me once shame on Mitt, fool “US” twice shame on “US” for accepting Mitt Romney continuing LIES and DECEPTIONS!
Catholics have a great responsibility to speak for those that are in need and to be Christ-like. Consumed with detestation for abortion, contraception and homosexuality the Republican Party have strayed far away from central core message of Jesus Christ, the Holy Bible, the Gospels and “CHRISTIAN VALUES”, we are our brother’s keeper!:
Psalms. 140:12. I know that the LORD will maintain the cause of the afflicted, and justice for the poor. (The Social Safety Net, Affordable Care Act, Medicare, Tricare and Medicaid and Food Stamps)

If there is a poor man among you, one of your brothers, in any of the towns of the land which the LORD your God is giving you, you shall not harden your heart, nor close your hand to your poor brother; but you shall freely open your hand to him, and generously lend him sufficient for his need in whatever he lacks. (Affordable Care Act, Medicaid, Food Stamps, Unemployment, the Minimum Wage)

(Re-Defining Christian Values-the Ryan Budget and prosperity doctrine, indifference to the plight of the Middle Class and the Poor, avarice of the 1%)
Matthew 7:1-5“Judge not, that you be not judged. For with the judgment you pronounce you will be judged, and with the measure you use it will be measured to you. Why do you see the speck that is in your brother's eye, but do not notice the log that is in your own eye? Or how can you say to your brother, ‘Let me take the speck out of your eye,’ when there is the log in your own eye? You hypocrite, first take the log out of your own eye, and then you will see clearly to take the speck out of your brother's eye. (Judgment of each other and intolerance of our differences, Races and Beliefs)
James 4:11-12 “Do not speak evil against one another, brothers. The one who speaks against a brother or judges his brother speaks evil against the law and judges the law, but if you judge the law, you are not a doer of the law but a judge. Ezekiel 47:22 “You shall allot it as an inheritance for yourselves and for the aliens who reside among you and have had children among you. They shall be to you as native-born children of Israel. With you they shall be allotted an inheritance among the tribes of Israel." (Immigration reform. the 14th Amendment to the Constitution, The Dream Act
Proverbs 12:22 “Lying lips are an abomination to the Lord, but those who act faithfully are his delight.” Psalm 101:7”No one who practices deceit shall dwell in my house; no one who utters lies shall continue before my eyes.” (“We Built That” misrepresentation by GOP and “Obama is removing the work requirement to welfare, all the speeches at the convention by GOP leaders, blatant lies not good for the Party of so called “Christian Values”)
He's straying into Performance Art territory, right up there with Herman Cain. Seriously, this sounds more and more like a script for a bad movie.
Next we'll hear that Romney and Anne are dining off their ironing board again. Which they probably did once in their younger years while they were waiting for their furniture to be delivered.
If the GOP's election strategy was scripted as a movie, most people would find the plot implausible. Romney lives in an imaginary world that even Disney wouldn't be able to comprehend.
The most amazing part is that there are voters who actually believe he is the greatest thing since the dawn of mankind.
I've said it before and I'll say it again: more than 300 million people in this country and this is the best we can do?
CaptVic- you are just dead wrong. Provisions of this act have already taken place. Ask your doctor friends. You are just not accurate with your facts.
We have been told by the liberal media that the attacks on Ambassador Steven's was due to a stupid video. This administration continued to spread this false narrative until just recently when they said it was a terrorist attack. Just not good enough. The American people deserve better. Wake up liberals!!!
This president has been the least transparent in recent memory. It is time we wake up. All of us. Lets stop making excuses for this administration.
I said that the excise tax does not take effect until 2013. I was responding directly to your post.
Yes I know provisions of the ACA have taken effect. Such as the one that allows parents to keep their young adult children on their health insurance. And also the part of the law that does not hold a pre-existing condition against the people that need insurance most. Very good parts of the law.
Ms. Maddow, has been tying the attack on Ambassador Steven's to a terrorist attack and the death of the number three man in Bin Laden's group since right after the attack. Go check the videos of her show. I would assume that you would list her as liberal media.
Here is the link from the Sept. 12th show:

I have not made any excuses for this administration.
It is not perfect, but it is better the the hate and stonewalling that is coming from the Republicans.
Ok, your turn, reply off topic and post some more made up crap without any source.
Have a great day!
