I suspect there were probably a few minutes late yesterday afternoon when Obama campaign officials felt a little nervous. It was the day before a big debate, which is nerve-racking enough, and all of a sudden, there's a flurry of attention -- prominent right-wing provocateurs claimed to have a controversial video of Obama making racially-charged remarks.
I also suspect, a few hours later, those same Obama campaign officials exhaled so loudly they could probably be heard outside the building. The new, explosive video that was going to change the election wasn't new, wasn't explosive, and wasn't even interesting.
The whole mess just reeked of desperation. At issue was a speech Obama delivered in 2007, as a presidential candidate, not at some secret fundraiser, but in front of a large audience at Hampton University. Reporters covered the speech, which wasn't seen as especially controversial, and all the major networks told the public about Obama's remarks at the time.
In other words, Drudge, Tucker Carlson, and Sean Hannity formed a strange sort of triumvirate to hype a five-year-old video that everyone already knew about, and which doesn't include anything interesting anyway.
Perhaps my favorite part of this silliness came when Carlson proudly boasted to Hannity on the air last night, "People will say this has already been reported. Well, actually, it hasn't been reported. And I know because I reported on it the first time."
Let that quote roll around in your head for a minute.
I'm not even sure what it is, exactly, the right finds so noteworthy about the 2007 speech. Obama criticized the government's response to Katrina? His speech used a cadence Drudge found overtly racial? Obama mentioned his former pastor?
I was also amazed when I saw one conservative last night insist that Obama never speaks this way "in public" -- as if a presidential candidate speaking to a large audience with reporters and cameras on hand somehow counts as "private."
In the larger context, I'm also struck by the extent to which the president's more unhinged detractors seem to sincerely believe they'll defeat him with old videos. Conservatives are apparently convinced the key to crushing Obama is to overlook his performance in the White House, and focus instead on his tone and cherry-picked quotes from speeches he delivered before taking office.
I'm not sure whether to be annoyed (by the ugly, racially-charged tactics), insulted (they're treating Americans like fools), or feel sorry for them.

I find it...odd? something....that it is assumed that every time Obama said "our" in the video that he was only talking about black people. Yes, he specifically mentioned minority owned business (are blacks the only minortiy?? I don't think so). But as I was listening to the speech, I took away that he was talking about all of us in some parts, more about the poor in some parts.
I dunno, I just don't see the supposed racism in the video. And I'm white. Maybe I'm naive.
Melanie, No, you aren't naive at all, just accurate in your evaluation.
Obama is not a racist. That Fox will do anything to bring him down isn't news, it's old news. They are in the business of making money by inciting hate and prejudice in people who are looking for their own ignorant, racist peer group.
I remember when sitting in church on the Sunday Morning when Katrina was bearing down on New Orleans. One of member in the choir stood up and spoke about how the poor in the low lying areas were going to be in deep trouble. Many did not have the means to go very far, and she felt that they especially needed our prayers.
I'm sure the appalling results are of what Obama speaks in this speach.
As it turned out she was absolutely correct, we saw the results. I'll will admit that I was not aware or very well informed about New Orleans. I'd been there for fun, but had never ventured into any neighborhoods. The results were absolutely appalling.
Many did not have the means to go very far, and she felt that they especially needed our prayers.
They did need your prayers. New Orleans Mayor Nagin (democrat) ordered that all school buses be parked and not used to evacuate residents.

Off-topic and race-baiting again.
"...Drudge, Tucker Carlson, and Sean Hannity formed a strange sort of triumvirate..."
Circle jerk triad
This is a speach, that I don't remember, but I like it.
The Reverend Jeremiah Wright? Is it possible that the Republicans would like to have a discussion about religion now?
If so, I'm sure the magic underpants will be brought to the forefront. Please!
Also, the White Horse prophecy, Lying for the Lord, and much other stuff.
The Reverend Jeremiah Wright? Is it possible that the Republicans would like to have a discussion about religion now?
OMG, Obama said WHAT??????? This video will definitely make me change my mind who to vote for.
NOT. I'm still not voting for the Angry, elitist white guy.
really,#33
Me either. LOL Besides I am partial to human beings, no matter the colour.
Kinda like the 47% comment. Nobodys changing their vote because of that either. Most likely the people who are benefiting from free stuff will vote for the guy who promises them more free stuff. The people that the guy is going to take more from to give these people free stuff will most likely vote against him.
And once again high doesn't have a clue as to which it says. I've not heard either party say a damn word about "giving free stuff". OH, you mean the $4billion to oil companies, more tax cuts to the wealthy, raising taxes on the middle? Things like that?
No I mean welfare and food stamps. Larry if you didnt know already more people are on welfare now than ever. Thats just the way it is dems want to take from the haves and give to the have nots, Thats just facts and when it gets to where 51% is getting free food and housing and paying no income tax thats when the dems will win every time. Only problem with that is the well will run dry and when it does the haves will be ok but the have nots will be standing there with their hands out but the well will be dry and they will thrist to deaf. Wait before they will starve they will rob and loot and steal then when that runs out it they will starve.
You're pretty blatant about the racist code, pal. Maybe there is more to the "high" part of your user name than might appear at first glance.
The contradiction in logic here is just startling. If unemployment is rampant and companies aren't hiring then that means people can't get jobs (hence why companies aren't hiring and why unemployment is high). Circular in presentation, common sense in understanding. You then add to this the complaint that people are on food stamps. If unemployment is high and people can't get jobs because businesses aren't hiring then OF COURSE food stamp use will be high. This isn't rocket science. So either a. food stamp use is a non-issue and the issue is unemployment or b. there are plenty of jobs and plenty of businesses are hiring and the recession is entirely psychological and therefore the use of food stamps is an indication of laziness. You cannot have it both ways.
With that said: 47% of Americans aren't on food stamps. The 47% he's talking about aren't paying income taxes. That includes families of 5 making a combined income of 50k/year taking maximum deductions. These aren't people who aren't working and these aren't people who are necessarily receiving food stamps.
Has Obama promised more in food stamps? Nope. This is a strawman and just nuts. Employment has gone up under Obama, not down. That means people are getting off food stamps. And for the record the "more people are on food stamps" number only applied to the initial start of the recession- from 2007-2009. Current levels of welfare assistance are below that of what they were under Bush.
For the record there is zero evidence that Democrats use more food stamps or other welfare assistance than Republicans. The idea that governmental assistance leads to Democratic votes is stupidity and additionally is shadow racism. Basically you're saying all black people are on welfare and when government works to help black people more they are more inclined to take more money from the government. And that then makes them Democratic since the Democratic Party gives them money in exchange for votes. It degrades black people, the American government (that thing you supposedly care about), and it degrades Republicans. You're basically saying that Republicanism can't win when put up before a black person. Good to know.
#33.5 Maximum entropy! Good one.
Truly, it does wreak of desperation ... and trying to stir up that "ole hate thing", ... but if this is the best the Romney camp can "dig up", our Prez must be a fabulously great guy ...but this inflammatory rhetoric and hate speak the Repubs are trying to stir up from this noncontroversial video, is rather bizarre... I really believe the country at large has just grown really weary with that divisiveness the old Drudge gang thrives upon ... does the country at large really hate the black man so??, do they really despise their gay friends, relatives and neighbors so intensely, that they would cast their lot with this conniving tiny percent of the wealthy in this country - which is basically looting our democracy, is so driven with greed that they would really allow America to become a country of such vast chasms between the small rich elite - as the very heart and soul of our country - the middle class, the amazingly diverse minorities who have much to share in visions for our future - are agressively pushed further and further away from the table, and now even demonized?? The obvious greed of the Romney's story, and the literally mean-spirited attacks toward social programs in a time of so much hardship and difficulty defies ANY "Christ-like " or "Christian" teachings, any way you read them... and to wade into ANY controversy over Rev Wright...seems rather dangerous for a Mormon candidate, whose forefathers literally left the county over plural marriages... if Progressives want to really take up this fight, the domain should be rich in some of the rantings of vitriolic white fundamentalist Repub-leaning preachers- on the damning and doom of America ... and the hate-speak they stir up every Sunday across the south!
Well said Greg.
Gregory Bennett. #34,
Very well said and very true!
I wonder if you would agree with my post on P. 1, where I addressed the Wright issue.
Greg I disagree because Obamas camp is doing the same exact thing. So I guess Obamas desperate as well. It just floors me that when a video comes out against Obama its desperation but when one comes out against Mitt its a gaff. Geese people could we be anymore hypocritical?
False equivalency. Probably one of Skippywippy's or Robbywobby's sock puppets.
High has nothing of importance to say. Never has. It's a right wing, Fox Lies troll.
HR,
The one that came out about Mitt was a recording of MITT! Not some skewed video like the one of Obama. It was MITT being MITT!
What are you smoking? Rolled hate?
What are you talking about high? What desperate video has Obama released? Are you referring to the video that was released of Romney speaking at a campaign event? A. Romney was not being misquoted at that event B. The Obama campaign had nothing to do with that C. what Romney said was what upset people. In this case you're getting upset about something that was known before Obama ran for office, something in which Obama doesn't say anything controversial, and something which was publicly available. There was no "releasing" of this tape- it's been available for anyone not lazy enough to do the research. Whereas the event Romney spoke at was a secret event (one not publicized) and was intended for that specific audience.
So please explain to me what is the same and how it is the same. You cannot just say X is true because I say it's true. You have to, at the very least, provide a compelling argument as to how and why they are the same.
This video and the ensuing attack is the actualization of uber billionaire Joe Ricketts (founder, TD Ameritrade) attack that Mitt Romney walked away from earlier this year.
The New York Times did an expose' on the attack plan on May 17, 2012:
http://www.nytimes.com/2012/05/17/us/politics/gop-super-pac-weighs-hard-line-attack-on-obama.html?pagewanted=all&_r=0
Fox "News" and the right wing hate radio/blog industry have picked up this exact attack strategy and are very likely cashing that $10 Million check Ricketts was willing to write in order to fund this racially charged, malevolent hit piece.
The attack strategy, as noted in the NYT article, specifically;
"..calls for running commercials linking Mr. Obama to incendiary comments by his former spiritual adviser, the Rev.Jeremiah A. Wright Jr."
.."The world is about to see Jeremiah Wright and understand his influence on Barack Obama for the first time in a big, attention-arresting way,” says the proposal, .."
According to the NYT article, the plan of attack includes an attempt to tie in Rev. Wright's "Black Liberation Theology" to President Obama, and goes on to state;
"The group suggested hiring as a spokesman an “extremely literate conservative African-American” who can argue that Mr. Obama misled the nation by presenting himself as what the proposal calls a “metrosexual, black Abe Lincoln.”
Following the Ricketts attack strategy to a "T", Sean Hannity played the "damning" 2007 clip, as well as a clip from an old Hannity show where he had attacked the Rev Wright about his "Black Liberation Theology".
He then brought onto last nights show David Webb, an "extremely literate African-American", TeaParty Founder and host of SiriusXM "Patriot Radio" (right wing hate profiteering on Sirius) show to deflect charges of racism while at the same time support the attack on President Obama.
I expect this is only one, of what will likely be many "October Surprises" we'll see from Fox "News".
Obama's doing the same thing. Attack, attack attack.
Romney kills people, Romney doesn't care about 47% of americans, etc. etc.
(sarcasm alert!)
How dare those democrats tell the ugly truth about Romney! Next they'll be pointing out that his religion is a scam.
(sarcasm alert!)
How
dare those republicans tell the ugly truth about Obama! Next they'll be
pointing out that his citizenship is a scam.
Wasn't that cute! Unfortunately for you and your knuckle-dragging Neo-Confederate pals, your so-called "ugly truth" about the President of the United States is a load of racist verbal vomit.
But wait tyler
A. Obama never said that Romney kills people. What happened was an advertisement- NOT supported by, funded by, or associated with the Obama campaign- in which a man described how his life fell apart and that was started in large part by Bain Capital. What he said in the advertisement was that he wishes Romney would've considered the consequences of laying him off without pension, without time to find a new job, and without any ability to access health insurance. At no point is Romney blamed for the man's wife's passing. That is a strawman created by the right wing regarding the advertisement itself. If you had bothered to watch the ad instead of letting other people tell you what aired you would've immediately understood the argument of the advertisement was that Bain Capital and venture capitalism is bad. The point was not that Mitt Romney killed someone's wife
B. Mitt Romney stated that 47% of the population will not vote for him. From there on the Republican Party has now stated that 47% are lazy, freeloaders, etc. That isn't some manipulation or false interpretation or funky editing. That is the verbatim argument as it was presented by the speaker and it was NOT done by the Obama campaign in any fashion. Romney said it- that is his verbatim statement. Do you understand this? That isn't and wasn't an attack. That was ROMNEY speaking.
C. Name one attack and provide evidence of that Obama has actually engaged in.
America doesn't need an outsourcing pioneer in the Oval Office.
President Obama on Mitt Romney's Outsourcing of American Jobs
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kTYwdN6g_V8
Well, pal, RawMoney will continue to outsource jobs as much as possible. He clearly likes the way China treats its workers.
Do not dismiss this stra-te-ger-y. (Thanks W.) The intent here is to motivate white Republican voters who see Romney losing and are having second thoughts about voting, thus giving Obama a larger margin of victory and hurting the party down ticket in the process. They will do ANYTHING to keep that from happening. That includes reminding white voters that there is an "other" occupying "their" White House right now. Stay tuned for more.
One of my more annoying traits is posting this:
"A Republican's claims don't have to be true, they just have to be MADE. They then become Truth."
But honestly, this "scandal" perfectly illustrates that mentality. I see friends (well, facebook friends, as opposed to real friends), posting links to this video, or the article as proof that this is The (Latest) Thing That WILL Bring Obama Down! There's usually a new "Thing" like that every 3-10 days, but this time it's really really really true, just like it was true all the other times and it'll be true the next time, too!
And I ask my friends what about the speech that's so incendiary.
"well, it was a secret meeting!"
No, it was a public appearance and news organizations had this footage "live" as the event occurred in 2007.
"He's praising Jeremiah Wright!"
Sure, in 2007, the year before he distanced himself from the Reverend. In 2007 Romney was saying Romneycare SHOULD be the blueprint for a national healthcare system, AND he was pro-choice and somewhat mushy on his opinion on gay marriage (he was much more for it when running for the Senate). Do you want to hold Mitt to HIS five year old opinions, too?
"Listen to that accent!"
I've got three words for you: Cheesy. Grits. Y'all.
If I'm LUCKY, the best I'll get out of these pantloads is "all politicians suck, they're all just as bad as each other...but we need a change!"
OK, so why start at Obama? Why not initiate the change by demanding more accountability from your Senators or Representatives?
And then the conversation will peter out...until 3-10 days from now when the next "The Thing That Will Bring Obama Down!" is hyped by the Noise Machine.
We're a nation with far too many copy-and-paste-ers and not enough READERS. They believe Obama is bad, here is some information that supposedly validates my opinions, who cares what it say, get it out there!
And the irony is even if you can get someone to admit that this is a BS issue, it doesn't matter, because much like some cops will pull over a black guy because "they gotta be guilty of SOMETHING," righties will insist it was easy to believe this lie because it's exactly the sort of thing Obama WOULD do, based on other information they believe about Obama that's usually been proven false. The rationale is there's SO much negative crap about Obama, even if most of it's not true, some of it HAS to be right? Otherwise why is there so much of it?
Now if you'll excuse me I have to go watch a snake eat its own tail...
“As Jack Nicholson would say... "You can't handle the truth!" The problem with what President Obama said was that it was all true. The way the Bush Administration handled Katrina and it's aftermath was a lesson in incompetency. But.... Let's not talk about it. We're STILL not talking about it as one of our greatest cities (New Orleans) still struggles to "come back". I wonder what would happen (how much time, money and energy) would be devoted if there was a tragedy in the heart of New York... oh wait, there was. Look at the difference in how the two tragedies were handled. I am not saying that we should not have done everything for New York after 9/11, what I am saying is that the recovery efforts in both situations were dramatically different. I am white and a woman. I don't mind that when President Obama is in front of a group of African Americans he acknowledges they have had a "tough time". I talk about some of the difficulties I have a a woman when I get together with my women friends. It is no different and it is no big deal. We live in a country where 20% of the people own 80% of the wealth. Now THAT is class warfare. Now that is divisive!”
Incompetency example number 2.
On April 20th, an explosion ripped through BP's Deepwater Horizon drilling rig, team sent to address issue in May 2010.
Obama address the nation on June 15, almost two months later.
I never will forget the pictures all those parked buses that the mayor of New Orleans left parked. Could it be that the mayor of New York did a better job?
Hey, worthless troll, which right wing propagandist sent you here?
Fox Lies sent high. It's on their pay roll.
Actually, I think it was Malkin. She has done it before.
Larry and Entropy,
I am so tired of this BS. What can we feed these trolls so they'll go away?
Oh, I have a few ideas, but the squeamish wouldn't like them.
.....so Obama should have taken over control of BP, a private company, and told them what to do and forced them to change their actions?
Congratulations everyone- tyler just advocated for communism!
Cartoonthenews! Sure point away at the failure to do anything. Just through out a unwarranted attack.
You'd think a "doctor" would be able to write correct English at least once in a while. His prose is as bad as his politics.
Oh here it come again the Black President is going to take away Money from good hard working White Folks. People the only danger in America is fear, and you've proved it over and over again.(Franklin D Roosevelt at his first inaugural speech. "The only thing we have to fear, is fear itself!), I personally am tired of all the conspiracy theories about the President. None of the things that were predicted or said he was against (2ND Amendment) or would do to the Country has taken place,Zero,Zilch,Nada. Why because he's to busy trying to fix the mess that was left. Even in the face of the greatest opposition by a Congress that any President has ever faced, you do remember this Congress don't you.Well let me refresh your memory (In the past month, approval ratings of Congress among self-identified Democrats have surged from 24% to 41%. Independents' ratings also increased, from 13% to 20%. Meanwhile, Republicans' ratings fell significantly, from 14% to 7%.). Now here comes the conspiracies again. Have you ever asked yourself why don't Blacks have more businesses of there own, turns out its pretty simple. Its called Institutional obstruction; for this President to encourage the growth and development of businesses in the Black Community is to encourage economic growth for the Nation, pure and simple. I have two very simple questions I would like to ask. What do you want, you can't have it both ways; saying they're shifty and lazy on food stamps or do you want Productive? Lastly; why is it when a White Man speaks Firmly he's being assertive and if a Black Man speaks in the same manner he's Argumentative or he's Angry,Why is that?
Simpson - you sound like a racist with a lot of personal issues! You statement about Obama is a joke "he's to busy trying to fix the mess that was left", $6 trillion deeper in debt under his watch is fixing the mess? He is either busy playing golf, hanging out with celebrities and sports stars and doing hard hitting interviews like 'The View'. He is considered a lazy president who won't take charge and blames everyone else for his failures. He doesn't attend briefings, meetings with his own 'Jobs Panel', etc., etc. He stated that he knew the Simpson - Bowles Commission was going to fail so he walked away, instead of sitting down with the commission and working things out. He doesn't have a clue on how to lead!
As far as "the greatest opposition by a Congress that any President has ever faced" you repeat the Democrat talking points that the reason the economy is still so bad is because the Republicans are not cooperating with Obama. Remember Obama and the Democrats who held both the houses in 2009 telling the Republicans to "either go along for the ride or go to the back of the bus"? Barney Franks also joked about Republicans suffering from post-bipartisan depression, indicating the Democrats had no intention of working with the Republicans. The liberals in the room thought it was oh-so-funny… then!
The "president is trying to encourage the growth and development of businesses in the Black Community" More special treatment for blacks. Trillions have been spent on Affirmative Action and other programs since 'The Great Society' was started by LBJ. They discriminate against whites (I have personal experience) and all we hear from blacks is more, more, more!
The knuckedragging Neo-Confederates are really crawling out of the woodwork!
How is debt correlated with racism? That statement doesn't even make sense. Why are we 6$t more in debt now than what we were before? And what is government based debt and why is it bad?
Who considers him a lazy president that won't take charge and what are his failures and who does he blame for them? How many interviews has he given with the View and how does this stack up to those given by other presidents? How does playing golf interfere with his being president and how many games, compared to other presidents, has he played? Who are the celebrities that he hangs out with and is this a disproportionate amount?
You can't just say one thing and then assume it leads to another. If he can do his job while away from office then you can't assert he's "lazy" simply because he's not sitting in the physical location of the White House. This is entirely specious reasoning. I always want to point out the irony of calling someone else racist while then immediately calling the black president lazy. Nice job with that juxtaposition.
What jobs panel and what briefings does he not attend? How can it be a briefing if he's not in attendance? Why are these meetings important as opposed to other means of handling the situation? You are assuming that the president, again, has to be in one physical location. Can he not call in? Can he not receive e-mails and letters? You cannot make the assertion that because one thing is absent that necessarily means he's doing something wrong or that he's not getting the necessary information. What proof do you have that necessary information is being lost by his lack of holding meetings?
When did he say he knew the Simpson-Bowles Commission was going to fail and what evidence do you have that he didn't sit down and try to work things out? You do realize that the commission was merely to recommend a potential budget to be put into place, but that ultimate authority was to be that of the congress, yes? What this means is he was looking for bi-partisan agreement from Simpson-Bowles that could be used to put together a feasible budget. Do you have evidence that this wasn't done? My understanding was he used the commission exactly as it was intended to. He built the bulk of his budget around the Simpson-Bowles Commission recommendation, but then made changes that he thought were more applicable based on input he was getting from Republicans and Democrats.
How do these actions show that he doesn't know how to "lead" and how is "leading" important in this context? You make all these assertions without evidence and then you make conclusions on the basis of your assertions that a. do not logically follow and b. that you do not seem to have backing for. Why does a member of the US Congress need a "leader" to pass a budget? Is not the US Congress a leadership position? So how can it be more incumbent upon the president- who does not pass budgets- to present and pass a budget than any single member of the US Congress? And if both are leadership would not that then mean you're being horrifically biased in your application here?
No- the statement about Republicans sitting in the back had to do with Republicans believing that 100% of their policy objectives should still be passed under Democratic rule. This is what you're not comprehending. Bi-partisanship and working together doesn't mean that you get 100% of what YOU want. It means you give SOME concessions so that everyone gets a little of what they want. Republicans are not wanting to give anything up (they want either 100% or they want nothing). That is their choice, but in doing so they have made it impossible to pass legislation. What Democrats have been complaining about since day one (since this has started since day one of the Obama presidency) is that Republicans are abusing the filibuster and other minority means in order to prevent legislation that they disagree with from getting passed. Why do they disagree with it? Well in many, many cases it's not clear- like with the Dream Act, The Affordable Patient and Protection Act, etc.- but in other cases they come right out and say well we didn't get everything we wanted so we're not going to vote for it. That is not how you legislate and yes once someone does this it makes it impossible to pass legislation. I also enjoy that you aren't refuting the fact that this congress has been less bi-partisan than any other congress since the Civil War, you're just saying that you think it's OK because Democrats do it too.
What trillions have been spent on affirmative action and why is this wrong? How are whites discriminated against and why is this bad? Why is it bad for black people to ask for more and more? Are they equal to that of whites? No. So then wouldn't logic follow that they have to ask for more because they need more to be equal? Secondly how does affirmative action have anything to do with Obama believing black businesses should get more loans from the private sector? He wasn't proposing legislation: he was talking about how those loans would benefit the black community. And thirdly you do realize he never specified "our" here as "blacks" so why are you assuming that his statement was about blacks? Again the irony of you calling other people racist when you are clearly being motivated by racism is just...well, honestly, I had a good chuckle about it in my disgust.
Cartoon - read Simpsons post then read my reply. These are not things I made up!
I have tried to post links here but can't. Some people are able to, maybe because they have been here a long time.
I notice that are lot of liberals post here without providing links or going into details and of course the other liberals don't ask them to provide details. The other day when I asked a poster to provide sources Mud-Sling (MD's re-reg?) replied "Look it up yourself. BUM" He has MD's level of intellect!
I watch TV and read a lot. Everything I stated is pretty much common knowledge so if you want the specifics, look it up!
Quit your whining, narcissistic self-pity, worthless troll!
I did. Your post has very little, if anything, to do with what Simpson said. You have not addressed the statements made by him/her and you haven't addressed those by me.
So your argument here is that you are no better than the stupid liberal that you are making fun of? You do realize by this argument you just made fun of yourself for being a stupid liberal, yes?
A. Most of the questions I asked are questions dealing with specific assertions you made
B. It is incumbent upon the person MAKING THE CLAIM to provide evidence FOR his/her claim. YOU made the argument now you PROVE the accusation to be true. This is how our legal system works. This is why I cannot accuse you of murdering my dog and then have you arrested and fined tens of thousands of dollars on a whim. I cannot do this because I have to prove that what I accused you of is true. The same works for you. YOU made accusations so get off YOUR lazy arse and provide evidence.
Do not use the excuse that you cannot post links. If you cannot post links then post the information without the hyperlink attached. All you had to do was add the statement "you'll have to copy and paste this since the link isn't working." That would've taken 6 seconds and then I could use that as verification of the accusations you've made. Until then I'm going to assume that this was your admitting that you have no facts and that you're just rambling on and on about things you have no evidence or reason to believe are true. Which basically means, again, you're accusing yourself of being an idiot. Bravo
Entrophy - I tried to answer Cartoons questions in a reasonable way and you call it whining. So I'll reply to you post in the only way a simpleton like you can understand. You're a liberal idiot who doesn't have clue about what is going on and the only thing you post are idiotic 2 sentence replies!
Cartoon - tell it to the liberal posters here. I provided the source.
More whining, narcissistic self-pity from the worthless troll. I give 'em what they richly deserve.
Obama Trolling for the Knucklehead Vote
By Ed Lasky
Pundits have ridiculed the string of fluff television, radio, and magazine appearances that Barack Obama has been making the last few months. They are wrong. He has a strategy and is executing it well. He is seeking and winning the votes of those Michelle Obama calls knuckleheads.
Inside-the-Beltway journalists have decried Barack Obama's refusal to hold many press conferences. His canned speeches and reliance on the teleprompter have provided them with precious few chances to score points among their colleagues for gotcha questions.
Ah...just kidding.
Most journalists would rather attack Mitt Romney like a pack of hyenas than ask the president any questions that may discomfort him. Instead, Barack Obama sends out his hapless Press Secretary Jay Carney to field questions -- or people like Susan Rice to evade truthful answers regarding the murders of Americans in Libya, the march of the Muslim Brotherhood, and the Arab Spring going up in flames (along with American flags and embassies). That is what they are paid to do: make excuses, fabricate answers or curse those seeking answers, fall on the sword if need be. They will still keep their lives and their jobs.

President Obama Bypasses White House Press Corps for Other Q&A Opportunities
President Obama talks to the White House press corps far fewer than his predecessors, but he gives more interviews to a variety of folks, ranging from news anchors to late-night comedians to members of the public via social media.
This is the conclusion of a study of such interactions by political science professor Martha Kumar of Towson University. Kumar studies how White Houses interact with the media; her numbers were first reported by The Hillearlier this week.
Kumar says that President Obama has held 17 solo White House news conferences at the White House so far, more than President George W. Bush (11) at this point in his presidency, but fewer than President Bill Clinton (31), President George H.W. Bush (56), and President Reagan (21).
The total of solo press conferences he’s had anywhere — such as on foreign soil after a summit – is 29. George W. Bush’s total is 11 — he didn’t hold any solo press conferences outside the White House up to this point. Bill Clinton held 40 solo press conferences in his first three years; George H.W. Bush held 72; Reagan held 21.

SadChris - you consider 'The View' a hard hitting interview?... lol
I don't watch the shows you watch.
No mention of The View in the piece-I guess that's all the propaganda you could come up with.
You're the one that's sad-you don't even have a sane reply.
Chris,
You can't expect much from Neo-Confederates.
I just love that sully had to copy and paste someone else's argument instead of sharing his own opinion.
And it's the left who are sheeple...riiiiiiiight
Cartoon - how many liberals here cut and paste you liberal idiot? I just gave my opinion in a previous post When I do copy an article I provide the source since I am not allowed to provide a link.
You're a typical liberal clown! When a conservative gives an opinion you try to shoot it down with lies and diversions If I copy an article and provide a source yo state "sully had to copy and paste someone else argument instead of sharing his own opinion. You have lost all credibility. You're just an ignorant liberal stooge!
Let's see...is Sullywully a Teabag, a Neo-Confederate, or are they just different ways to describe the same thing? Whichever, he/she/it is obviously the blood enemy of every self-respecting non-conservative.

Here's an ad running (with over 300,000 views so far) on Youtube. The ad attacks President Obama, so it's obviously unfair. Why don't you show the ad and invite Obama's representatives and/or "Medical Ethics" Professor Reagan to explain how the ad lies and misrepresents President Reagan's attitudes and actions? Provide some of the balance Fox News doesn't give us.
You are getting really petulant and stupid.
I still think the most interesting thing about these "bombshell" videos about Barack Obama is that in every one of them he is speaking in public about issues concerning the government. The 47% video that has seriously undermined Mitt Romney's presidency was filmed in relatively private setting that raises issues with the American people. That is the difference- that is what makes Obama's comments acceptable and Romney's untenable. At least, that is what I get from it.
Barack Obama:
Alias: Barry Soetoro
Father: Barack Obama, muslin, communist sympathizer
Mother: Stanley Ann Dunham
Mother's parents; acclaimed communists
Parents married 2/2/61; Barack born 8/5/61...umm
Parents divorced 1964
Mother remarries Lolo Soetoro, Muslim, moves to Indonesia 1967
Barack adopted by Lolo and renamed Barry Soetoro age 6
Barack sent to mother's parents to live 1971. Frank Marshall Davis (proclaimed communist) becomes Barack's mentor, while in high school. Barack becomes attracted to Marxism with help from his mentor.
Attended Occidental College (L.A., Ca) registered as Barry Soetoro and received a state grant as a foreign exchange student from Indonesia.
Barack Obama writes in his book "Dreams From My Father", that while @ Occidental, he chose his friends very carefully........politically active black students, along with Marxist professors and structural feminists. and doing DRUGS.....
After 2 yrs. he leaves Occidental and attends Columbia U. Graduates and then attends Harvard where he becomes president of the Harvard Law Review.
Barack reads "Rules for Radicals" by Saul Alinsky & embraces the concepts.
Barack Obama meets Bill Ayers an unrepented terrorist & co-founder of the Weather Underground. In the 1960's, this group claimed responsibility for a dozen bombings.
Barack Obama joins the New Party formed by the Democratic Socialists of America (DSA), the largest socialistic organization in the US.
Years later, when Barack Obama was being sworn in as IL State Attorney, he was asked (under oath) if he had ever used any other name. He responded "none".
What a load of bollocks!
Oh good god did Glenn Beck send you people? Just no. Stop being morons. Just stop. Stop. Go get a breath of fresh air and read a book like To Kill a Mockingbird or something that won't rot your brain (while I adore comic books, in this context they don't count). Turn off the damn television and stop reading conspiracy websites on the Internet. You've gone into kookyville, just exit here and save what's remaining of your sanity. Just stop please. Stop being stupid. Just stop.
I suspect it was Malkin again.
I tried to say on this same site that the attacks in Libya were terriost attacks. Everybody said the same to me oh good god where is your proof? Obama says its from a you tube video where is your proof? My god people read Obamas books he tells all of these things about his past. You can even get the book in audio and hear it in his own voice.
It's getting pretty incoherent.
No, he doesn't. This is made up bull@!$%# that only exist in right winger world. I have actually read the books he is pretending to quote from and these statements are not in those books. Instead these are statements put together by websites like Townhall.com in which they ASSERT that statement X really means Y and then provide no evidence. So yeah, good god where is your evidence. If it's from his book then all you have to do is grab the book, find the page, and then tell me the page it's on and in what book. I can find it from there. I mean what do you just expect us to follow you like a bunch of drooling, babbling buffoons? And you accuse us of being sheeple? When you're asked to back up your information you become hostile and annoyed. Either provide evidence for your claims or admit that you're full of it. This aint rocket science, kid.
Entropy - more single line replies? You obviously don't have the attention span to write anything of significance!
Really full of yourself, aren't you, pal. I give you what you deserve, which is the rhetorical back of my hand.
Thank you for putting the truth out there Rachel. You are AWESOME!!! GO OBAMA!
We are facing awful challenges in our country right now. This old video tape from 2007 of President Obama addressing other black Americans means very little other than for its distraction value. At a time of all of our country's challenges coming from Asia, our energy problems, our chronic unemployment problems, our infrastructure problems, our need to beef up our public school system, the cost of health insurance, Afghanistan, and a host of other problems this video is irrelevant to our country's problems.
The right winged conservatives in the Tea Party/GOP no that their days are numbered. Most independent women and Hispanics are furious with the GOP over their obstructionist polices. Most independent women are deeply worried about their reproductive health rights, especially for their daughters and granddaughters. Hispanics are deeply concerned about the Dream Act that was filibustered by the GOP in the Senate in December,2010. The Dream Act is a very modest proposal what we need is comprehensive immigration reform but today's ultraconservative agenda has no empathy for Hispanics or for women's reproductive health.
The Medicare issue is another problem for the GOP. Romney/Ryan essentially want to butcher Medicare as we know it. The "voucherization" of Medicare means it will be destroyed. The Affordable Care Act has given Medicare at least another 12 years more of life by reforming over $700 billion in costs to insurance companies and health care providers but still maintaining the same level of care for Seniors. Most people like Medicare and do not want to see it voucherized under the Romney/Ryan plan.
These political problems are not going to go away for Romney/Ryan. Too many radical positions have been taken by the GOP all across America. The GOP is simply on the wrong side of history on most issues in the 21st century. The GOP has no solutions for our problems. So we have a feeling of deep desperation amongst the conservatives. Many radical conservatives have a deep hole in their bodies that no amount of hatred, bigotry, fear mongering, and xenophobia can ever fill. The GOP is not only desperate over Mitt Romney but desperate because the white domination of America is winding down. Many conservatives find a half black man as President totally unacceptable because of cultural lag.
The conservatives who also think that a black man should not be president are also in total denial about the rise of Asia in the global economy of the 21st century. China and India are not concerned about pandering to conservative xenophobia in America, they are too busy trying to feed, cloth, and create jobs for their burgeoning populations. The competition these two countries and the Pacific rim countries offer against America are enormous and American conservatives are totally oblivious to it all. The failure of conservatives to address the rise of Asia is tantamount to committing collective economic suicide for the United States. A vote for Romney/Ryan is a vote to turn America's middle class into a giant cesspool and slum.
It amazes me how unwilling people are to change their views or just use a little common sense...
Americas cliff is coming, straight ahead... it's right there, smack dab in front of your face... wake up, jerk the wheel.. do something.. and for Christ sake, think for yourselves.. really, it's OK..
Sean Hannity showed his outright bigotry during his Tuesday night show when he referred to the Katrina part of Obama's speech as racism. He forgot what happened during Katrina and Fox's Shepard Smith's coverage of Katrina. See the the You Tube
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qBUYiZWztuU Shepard Smith was begging the question as Gerardo Rivera likewise.
New Orleans mayor really screwed up he left all of those buses empty.
It looks like the high one is engaging in some free-association trollery.
I just like pointing out actualy facts call me what you will. I never will foget the pictures of all those empty buses the mayor left there.
re: The people who hyped that video are true, pure racist (Hannity anyone?) but we are the racist for pointing out how racist fox news and the rest of them are.
And more and more of the knuckle-draggers are showing up on this thread.
Yes you made that plain to see.
I was speaking of others who have shown up here.
If its such a non factor then show all 40 minutes, not just 7. I found Obama's attempt at "Black Dialect" being more disgacefull and disrespectfull than the content of the speech. Shocking actually. I won't vote for Romney, but I won't vote for this jack ass either. Our first black racist President.
Pot...kettle...black.
THe video really isn't that big a deal...we already know that Obama holds strongly racially-charged views...and we alrady know that he tailors his speech to reflect his audience...even though the "southern-black" drawl is interesting given that he has never been to the south for any extensive amount of time...
why would Hannity even bring this up??? he should be running 60 minutes every night on Libya, and the cover up, and the lies going on there. there is SO MUCH that the President has done wrong on Libya, so many lies being told, that one ALONE should be enough to bury the President. this video amounts to nothing more than a distraction from real concerns about the President.
You don't know jack, pal.
What strongly racially charged views do we know that Obama holds? Provide evidence for this claim.
When has Obama tailored his speech to reflect his audience? Honestly I cannot hear a difference in how he is speaking anymore than I can when Romney is before his audience. I suppose you could say he tailored the content of his speech, but he sounds the same to me as he always has. Perhaps that's your bias and not everyone else's. Don't project your stuff onto me, thanks.
What cover up and what lies are going on with Libya? Provide evidence for your claim. What has the president done wrong on Libya? What lies have been told? If there is so much information out there about these lies and this cover up then why does it need to be broadcast on television when you obviously have already accessed it? And if that information is available then why didn't you provide it in your post instead of just making the baseless accusation?
I understand his source is someone named Carlton or something...
This is the kind of insight we are getting from the far right...."we already know that Obama holds strongly racially-charged views".
As if (?) you don't have strongly, racially-charged views while pointing your finger and screaming witch!
Any one who says, that Obama, wasn't brought up in a racially charged childhood, Would be denying reality. It is like if you grew up as a male or a female with all the biases, and he also had the color of his skin to contend with while living in a white family and going to Punaho school which is sort of like the school Mitt attended. Barry was the different kid. You know, the kid that willard bullied. How dare he be different.
Wait... What? Obama's black!? When did that happen???
Tell your sheep the truth for once ED the Stafford act was waived 10 days before Obama made that race bating speech and you want to hear the kicker Obama was one of the 14 senators who voted against it
And another knuckle-dragging Neo-Confederate is heard from. Aren't they just too, too speshul! (rolls eyes)
