In late August, Mitt Romney's chief pollster, asked about the campaign's welfare lie, said, "[W]e're not going to let our campaign be dictated by fact checkers." After watching last night, I guess he wasn't kidding.
What will be interesting to watch at this point is whether a meme starts to develop. Phase One of the post-debate analysis saw a consensus quickly coalesce: Romney won with relative ease. Perhaps Phase Two will consider how the Republican managed to do so well?
This is admittedly only a sampling, but this piece from New York's Jon Chait caught my eye:
Romney won the debate in no small part because he adopted a policy of simply lying about his policies. Probably the best way to understand Obama's listless performance is that he was prepared to debate the claims Romney has been making for the entire campaign, and Romney switched up and started making different and utterly bogus ones.
As did this one from Rolling Stone's Tim Dickinson:
Mitt Romney turned in a polished performance in last night's presidential debate – and revealed himself to be an accomplished and unapologetic liar. In an evening where he sought to slice and dice the president with statistics, Romney baldly misrepresented his own policy prescriptions, made up numbers to fit his attacks and buried clear contrasts with the president.
CNN's David Gergen, hardly a liberal, was thinking along the same lines as Chait, saying last night he thinks Obama was surprised that Romney was "flat out lying" during the debate. Plenty of others were thinking along the same lines.
Romney's critics should probably keep expectations low, but if this line of criticism starts to catch on, it could, in theory, step on the Republican's post-debate glow. In fact, the tactics that led to the win could even backfire, doing more harm than good.
As Jonathan Bernstein noted today, "Paul Ryan's convention speech wound up being covered mainly for its mendacity, and that became the story. It seems that there are at least as many factually challenged comments from Romney's debate performance as there were in Ryan's speech."
I'd just add that early this morning, there were signs the DNC and the Obama campaign wasn't sure which direction they'd go in, and initially seemed inclined to launch a "Romney was obnoxious and rude" tack. Seven hour later, the focus has shifted, and the president's allies are far more focused on Romney's dishonesty than his attitude.
It's a dynamic worth watching.

They hadn't left the building yet when his 'Etch-A-Sketch' campaign worker was already speaking to press and backing away from some of the lies the 'Mole' spewed onstage.
I wonder if his handlers said, "Oh, go ahead and say anything you want. We'll walk it back afterward."
I hope this tactic backfires on them big time. Romney literally makes me physically ill.
Uh--ME, TOO.
that is all you got? your going to stick your head in a hole and call him a liar? Didn't you watch the fact checkers last night? Keep crying.
When there are no liberal filters protecting the President from his record, the result is exactly what happened last night.
I thought I was watching the Presidential debate and it turned out to be a WWF smack down.
@chemdmd - exactly what did Romney say last night that was actually true? (Besides, "Good evening.")
I know exactly what President Obama needs to do. He needs to consult with a psychiatrist before the next debate and have a stead fast plan on how to debate with a SOCIOPATH and pathological LIAR.
Mitt Romney is the sleeze of all sleeze bags, he's the scum of the earth, he isn't even man enough to hold to his own convictions, he will SAY ANYTHING to WIN.
Obama was "zinged" with Mittens zingers alright. How clever he must think he is.
@chemicalintoxication,
How is it that not one news program called out Romney for saying that a 20% tax cut for the rich won't do one of these two things?
Do people really think the money is going to come from the tooth fairy?
And why do people think Romney won simply because he beat up an old man when that old man asked Romney the equivalent of "are you serious" when Romney denied that 20% tax cut on the wealthy would not do those two things?
Has the whole country gone terminally stupid?
And do people still think money sitting in a bank creates consumer demand needed to make more jobs after that has been debunked by the fact that unemployment went up under every republican president since 1920 except Reagan who increased taxes on the wealthy?
When you think back to 2008 -- Romney was no different than Palin - in her debate with Joe - and in her speech at the RNC. They're like two peas in a pod. Actually, I should say 3 Peas in a pod in that Ryan too is devoid of truth and facts.
Romney has stopped flip flopping and has graduated to outright lies.
Not graduated, Crackhead, it's been Romney's MO all along. Even when he gets called on it, he just continues with the same lies.
Why the Obama campaign didn't have this figured out is beyond me. It was very predictable. I guess it really isn't in the president's style to just flat out call it for what it is, a lie, but I had hoped for a better defense.
Obama is the same guy who went to a GOP breakfast and withstood a barrage of lies, all the while making the room look like idiots. And he did it all without scripted notes or a teleprompter. Where was that Obama last night?
Both FactCheck and Politifact have issued responses to last night's debate. Most of it is pretty good, although I do disagree with the $5 trillion verdict being false. They do qualify that by saying that Romney can't say how he would accompllish what he promises, but they give Romney way too much credit. Just because Mitt says something or makes a claim doesn't mean it's true. (Yes, that was an understatement.)
When Joe and Paul sit down next week, if Paul asks if he can call him Joe, I hope our Democrat will say, "No, Congressman Ryan, you may call me Mr. Vice-President."
Romney showed that he has complete disregard for any rules. He had agreed to the debate rules and proceeded to break them from the start and throughout the debate. I guess he believes as the character in the Roller Ball movie said, "There are no rules." Vintage Romney of Bain Capital! If Obama had argued with him, we would not have known about Romney's determination to fire Big Bird. Don't give up without a fight, Big Bird.
what are you talking about chem? factcheckers found that almost everything Romney claimed was a lie. What planet are you living on?
Mendacious Mitt really doesn't do too well in his lie-detector test. Here's all you need to know:

As a rule, once Romney gets beyond "My name is Mitt Romney and I'm running for President of the U. S.," he's lying.
Anybody who can lie like Romney can has to be seriously mentally ill. Really. Like, scarily sick. I'm even more afraid of this sleaze than I was before.
On eHow's characteristics of a Sociapathic Liar, there was an ad-buy for Mitt Romney. It seemed somehow fitting.
http://www.ehow.com/list_6026088_characteristics-sociopathic-liars.html
No, I think it is just that he believes that he "deserves" to be President because of his wealth, and because of who he is it doesn't matter if he lies. He's above the rest of us and should be able to do as he pleases to obtain his personal goals.
Remember Ann Romney back in April? "I believe it's Mitt's time. I believe the country needs the kind of leadership he's going to offer… So I think it's our turn now." This was after her husband told the Obama's they should start packing!
For 4 years you've blamed Bush, now you are blaming Romney because of Obama's timidity and naivety and NBCs left wing progressive ranting. I was involved in the early tech layoffs that actually started in the late 90's during Clinton's last 4 years. That economic gaggle was then exacerbated by the towers falling, the stock market hit and a war. Tech outsourcing was an answer to supposedly help reduce tech costs over the next 5-10 years while corporate America revamped outdated hardware and software. Had Y2K wh9ich occurred during Clinton era not had happened - outsourcing would NOT have occurred, employees would have paychecks, foreclosures would not have occurred and the economic bubble might not have been so drastic even with a tower fall. You can't blame Clinton for what started because of Y2K, Bush was not and is not to blame and because of blame everyone else attitude of progressives you can't blame Obama who didn't have history to understand what happened. NBC news has falling so far into the shock jock Enquirer style commentary and with folks like Bashire, Sharpton, Mr. Ed, and Ms Mad are so busy selling their progressive ideals they and NBC are destroying the American dream I, my parents, and my parents have had for our children.
I understand why Bill Gates doesn't want us to remember Microsoft's responsibility for the Y2K debacle, or why Union folks who were basically oblivious to it it all do not understand the reality of Y2K economics, or that the auto industry and it's pals at EDS and Perot that helped permanently move support outsourcing straight to India and computer manufacturing to China, Indonesia and Southeast Asia destroying millions of US jobs. When people lose jobs they lose homes, when families lose insurance rates go up.
A news organization like NBC has no reason to be lambasting political candidates for their misguided believes of what caused the calamities of the last 12-15 years. NBC has no right calling out candidates over what their campaign speeches are because the candidates ideas may are still forming and changing. Romney has NOT lied but NBC has so many progressives nit picking and editing pieces and pops that they no one, including OBAMA, who has any idea what Romney's ideas actually are, or have been, or may well change between now and the election.
We need political candidates not political fascists. We need NEWS not b-grade commentary. We definitely don't need to be counting how may times NBC anchors, commentators, pundits and obvious kool-aid drinkers can call an American Candidate for President or any other post a liar, liar, liar when those same people actually created and perpetuated the falsified comments to begin with.
Romney called YOU out, Obama was defenseless and Sharpton above all showed what a bigot he is and has been all along when his favorite son pulled an obvious Palin. Obama can't perform without his teleprompter, just as Mr. Eastwood portrayed him at the RNC. His mind went blank, he stutters, looks lost and no longer remembers his DNC, Rachel Maddow, Chris Matthews reiterations at will and Mr. Ed is simply Mr. ED.
Campaign comments made to individual groups are not campaign promises and may change daily. Whether it's Obama or Romney they both have stretched numbers, ideals and events. The difference is progressively counting 23% of American's are out of work and if you throw in how may wives and kids no longer have incomes to that specific percentile Mr. Obama has seriously failed Americans in his 1st 4 years and no matter how may times you call Romney a liar (100-200 times per hour) that will not change that fact that Obama is now out of his comfort zone due to his own missteps.
Your commentary is so infantile that challenging you is problematic. Teleprompter? What a tired joke! "Campaign comments made to individual groups are not campaign promises...." Another joke? He makes comments and doesn't mean them? Those amongst his own ilk? Really? Romney is a self proclaimed elitist, clueless about the real world inhabited by ordinary people. Curious that you blame Obama for the jobless numbers. Notice you didn't mention anything concerning the abject obstructionism from the right - or the forces derived from a world economy that create difficulties in this paradigm shift we are experiencing. Obama made promises that were impossible to keep due to naivete. That said, past experience demonstrates a Republican administration would have been exponentially worse.
Look folks Mitt is a professional liar. This differs from a mere pathological liar like GW Bush in that a professional liar actually makes money by lying.
SkinnyGrunt has the right terminology, according to several articles I've read. A sociopathic liar lies in order to gain some advantage or achieve some goal, and he/she lies without any feelings of guilt.
Compulsive liars lie out of habit about big things and small things. It's just habit to them. They're not necessarily doing it to manipulate others, nor are they trying to achieve some goal.
Pathological liars aren't doing so to gain anything, it's just part of how they deal with their environment. They do it even though they know it's likely to get them into trouble.
So I guess that makes Mitt Romney a sociopathic, pathological, compulsive liar.
Works for me.
"but if this line of criticism starts to catch on, it could, in theory, step on the Republican's post-debate glow."
Just watch the evening Nooze tonight .
I will bet there is Nothing ...and I mean Nothing mentioned about the lies . It will be all ....Romney turned in a strong performance....and nothing else.
Exactly. The "liberal media" will do everything it can to make everything seem equal - as in both candidates told some lies (and leave out the scorecard of how many lies each side said). If the media really was so "gagga for Obama" or "liberal" it wouldn't let all of these lies get said and then not expose them as the falsehoods they are.
And we will have to endure Chuck Todd, Jake Tapper and David Gregory telling us how strong Willard's performance was.
They had on Dan Rather at noon on Alex Wagner and he was just about creaming himself over Mitt. "Oh a game changer " bla bla bla .
Hey Dan aren't you retired . We have the draft of your obit in the ready file.
I hope you and your family is well secure so you won't need social security or medicare because if Mitt is elected you probally won't receive either. Why don't you stop voting like you are rich. You aren't fooling anyone but yourself.
Bolbis -- Would that be that same as how the Rethugs all continued to defend that stunned & stupid - devoid of a brain Ms Palin. The Rethugs don't care at all about the country -- it's all for the win and power.
Rethugs = Homegrown Terrorists -- who say they support the troops yet vote every bill down that would help them and that included the bogus hero McCain. The Rethugs that stand behind their bibles yet lie their @!$%#s off. Wow -- wouldn't God be proud of them. They're bottom feeders and should go back to the black scummy dead lake for which Ms. Palin lives on. Yea -- the lake contains not one fish in that it is totally dead.
Steve, this was precisely my read.
At the end of the day, what matters is if the bump fades in the next week and the narrative of winning the debate by lying takes hold.
Then his numbers will be even worse because there will be a month for the Dems to pound home the message to independents that they were duped.
If the numbers don't go that way, then it is a victory for Etch-a-sketch politics, and will be used as a template for high dollar advertising driven campaigns. It is the next ratchet up from Reagan, who appeared to honestly believe in his fairy tales. This Romney shapeshifter is openly honest about his approach to dealing with public opinion.
That honesty being- that facts and fact checking doesn't matter. His job of the effective leader is to make people feel good about him, to tell followers what they want to hear so that the troops learn to trust him with authority he needs to do what is best for the country. It appeals to people's willingness to lend their support to someone who will take care of them. I am not mocking this- this represents a popular theory of management- I think of it as the big daddy school of leadership.
Speaking as a manager of large groups of workers in high technology I would remark that this theory is wildly unsuited for the challenges facing 21st century leading edge technology businesses. It is particularly unsuited for domains where authority must be decentralized and line workers must be entrusted with wide latitude in making discretionary decisions.
Anyway, as for "taking care" of their followers- the 1% really have taken care of US. They have 25% of the nations wealth and it isn't enough- they want more, and Romney promises he will deliver.
I totally agree that "thinking people" (even Republicans) have to be just astonished at the lies Romney told last night! So when are the Democrats going to release a Romney-Romney "debate" ad? Nothing I can think of would point out his "mendacity" in a clearer way! They really ought to blanket the country with it before the next debate!
I for one was in shock, when he started in on the Moderator. Just another example of Romney sense of entitlement, and not having a need to follow procedure. (ex. where are 10 years of your criminal tax returns?)
I would have even voted for the Romney I saw on that stage last night. 1- no candidate can promise all that. Its a fantasy. 2-I did not know this man, its not the policy changes I've heard over the last year!!
Onceler, perhaps you missed the great Ad from a Dem SuperPac that steve put up earlier. If you haven't clicked it yet- Check it out- it is hilarious.
.
PS- I meant to write former manager. Clearly I have enough time on my hands to achieve the Colbert rank of being a psychotically engaged election junkie.
Thanks John, I did miss it!!! It is FUNNY!!!
oncearepublican, you can only be astonished at the lies if you KNOW there were lies being told. If the media gets that message out, great and about damned time, but if they don't, then they're relying on the same guy who let the lies get told last night to refute them going forward, which to them will seem like sour grapes.
I agree and that's why a Romney-Romney "debate" ad would be such a good thing!! Let people compare what Romney has said at different times - that great mendacity of his is just too wonderful to keep secret or to be shared with just us "libruls"!!! The whole country should hear it!!
Obama can take the blatant lies and put them in ads that run in the swing states. But the ads should also be televised nationally before the second debate to take the wind out of Romney's sails. It is possible to build the image of Romney as a liar before he goes out on the stage a second time. By the second debate, the media and the audience will hear the words and disbelieve.
What Obama should have said:
"Cut taxes and increase defense spending? Your own party tried to bury George Bush in an unmarked grave and now you want to recreate his 2003 budget."
That's actually pretty good.
Bam!
Historically speaking, there is only one label for Mr. Romney, "turncoat"
I wonder how the Founding Fathers felt about such types...?
They called them "Benedict Arnold's"
Last night Obama was exposed for what he is.... an arrogant, self-righteous empty suit. He is bad for this country and is going to lose.... BIG. That is all...
You think so? read my blog post below. I would love to see your point of view 3 weeks from now.. Seriously, do you really think this is all Obama had to offer, if so, his plan is working.

I think you got the names mixed up.
No, it was Romney that was exposed to more lies, please give me a beak. Romney is a pathological liar. The only truth that Romney said was his determination to cut medicaid, medicare, and shut down many government offices. Are you kidding me, please give me a break and the American people, Romney and the Republican Party will destroy the middle class if he is elected into office. Romney positions is scary people and will do anything or say anything to be elected. However, I wish the media would give the American people more credit for knowing that Romney is a liar and not be harsh on the president. In addition, how do you debate a pathological liar? How do you debate a person with multiple personalities?
Democrats, SETTLE DOWN!! This is exactly what he did with Hillary, and then with McCain. Gave a bad 1st debate. Meek and mild. By tomorrow nite, the narrative will be, Romney is a liar, rude and a bully. I remember thinking in 2008, is this guy on drugs, he was so bad, but he comes back fighting each time.
2nd Debate, he will rip Romney a new A-hool, and grab is Juggler Vein on the way out.
3rd Debate, he will be above the fray, Presidential and in control. The 3rd debate his children will also join him.
The 1st debate was set up to look this way, even allowing so many of the Romney family on stage to make Obama look even smaller at the end. Now, Ryan being full of himself, is in a false sense of security for next weeks debate with Biden. BIDEN, WILL EAT HIM 3 TIMES OVER FOR LUNCH REGURGITATING Romney's lies into Ryan's face, making Ryan have to answer for Romney lies and Ryan's own budget plan. It will confuse Ryan and leave their campaign looking divided and devoid of any real consistency.
Over the coming weeks, Romney will be demoralized in the debates and at the poles. It was the same formula he used in 2008 that worked well. I can hear t now, in 2 weeks, "Excuse me Mr. Romney, I was quiet two weeks ago while you misled the American People for 90 mins, now its my turn to talk truth to the American people, they deserve that!'
sorry guyny.... you are drinking the kool-aid and must be very confused....
Next week is going to worse for Biden (your resident fool) Mr Gaffe is secretly working for conservatives... what other explanation for his repeatedly screwing up!
Good luck
Well, the president allowed Mr. Romney to speak freely, that's all. And the former governor has admitted that his sons lie often to him..... He must be so proud of them!
LOL, you think. A man thats been in politics for 3 decades going to be taken down by a rookie punk like Ryan? Ryan can't even get through and FOX interview without getting flustered.
Seriously,, I am laughing to myself, out loud. I knew people of this intelligence existed, I just did not expect it on this blog.
Ye fo short memory, look back at the debates in 2008, you will see that I am correct. If Biden is working for the right, then Ryan is working for the left.. ha, ha, ha,
I am really looking forward to the Biden/Ryan debate. That promises to be fun.

WOW you got a new screenname to tell us that??? We are SO impressed!
BTW, how much are you getting paid per post?
What was your screenname yesterday?
I really think that the President Obama will do better in the 2nd debate. I think that people are being too hard on him. He might have just wanted to see how Gov. Romney acted and then give him a totally hard time in the next debate. I am not disappointed in President Obama. I think that under that quiet exterior that we saw last night is a man that was sizing the Gov. up and is deciding what to do in the next debate. I am not giving up in the President's ability to have a good debate.
I was so ticked at last night's debate, I thought my was going to EXPLODE! I literally woke up at 4:30 this morning L I V I D! So I hammered away at The Twitter, David Axelrod, the O Campaign, Veep Joe's account, everybody. Upshot of all of it: What the he!! was that???!!! Romney ran to the LEFT of Obama and basically got a free shot at it. I thought the folks at Digital Journal summed it up perfectly with their Photoshopped pic this AM:
http://www.digitaljournal.com/article/334151
To David Axelrod I quoted Maya Angelou, "The first time someone shows you who they are, believe them. Mitt is a liar. Call him on it.
I truly L O V E this President, but last night was a total train wreck. Rachel did an awesome job last night and Chris Matthews...OMG, his reaction immediately following the debate was PERFECTION, and I told him so...at 4:30AM... hope that still counts as a compliment! LOL
President Obama is a gentleman—something Mitt Romney will never understand. It sickens and saddens me to see the Presidential debate lowered to the standard of “performance” This is not a game or a movie—it’s real life. Yours!
Mitt Romney’s, performance, was that of a big fat bully much like his friend Chris Christie in New Jersey. He is exactly what we don’t need in a Leader. I don’t think I’ve ever seen such a low level of consciousness; one so low he takes credit for what he has not earned but stolen.
When I heard him praise the sweat shops in China and their draconian tactics it sickened me. No god conscious person could see something like that and not try to correct it. Romney invested in it! Is this the way he plans to create jobs here in America????????????
In his plan to build a strong army for America—is he planning to bring back the draft???????????
How many houses have to burn down, how many floods from storms need to happen before he even considers Global Warming or climate change???????????
What is the point of having a job if there’s no planet to work on?????????????
When he kills Obama care, Medicare and Medicaid how many people will have no coverage and what is he going to do about it?????????????
I don’t care about performance—I want answers!
On Tuesday's Last Word, Johnathon Capeheart equated Mitt with jello, in terms of trying to have a debate with him.
He was right.
Next debate is a town hall style.
I suspect we will see the return of android Mitt. His empathy chip has not been installed. That won't go as well.
Jello , exactly , it is the same thing with the gop in the congress , senate , or on the internet , they lie flip flop and change the subject , they vote down funding for vets and blame the dems, and when you call them on it , they give an answer about Libya , aka romney in a debate
The obama team knows romney is a lying machines , they know this going in , so I have to disagree with mr benen on that point , imlo the obama team might be laying a trap , but obama could have come on stronger , and he definitely had some miscue's , and stumbled on some responses
But now it is time for part 2 and 3 , the MULTIPLE CHOICE ROMNEY tag needs to come out , and obama can effectively point out that america does not need a leader who can not keep his own answers , policies and governing straight , and when he is dishonest , call it just that
As I said in an earlier post: my local Fl paper had fact checking with the story on the debates. This same paper did not mention Mitt's disgraceful Libya comments nor the 47% speech (until a tiny blip a few days later). So what if Mitt told new lies, people know they are lies even in East Central Fl.
Obama's mistake is thinking this guy is human, but he's not. Like Max headroom he don't care what people think and he sure don't mind lying, He's done it consistantly. This guy is like a machine and he will do or say anything to become president. During the next debate Obama should expect and be prepared for anything. And I do mean anything.
I honestly Romney's family should be concerned about this lying. Something's not right and it's not just politics. Perhaps Obama sensed this.
We can moan and groan about Obama's end of the debate... but keep 3 things in mind...
One: If Obama had used the same tactics as Romney, and lied as much as Romney, and ignored the incredibly inept and weak Lehrer as much as Romney, this would have been a cakewalk for Obama. He didn't and it wasn't. It'd better be better next time. All that has to happen its for the real Obama to show up.
Two: If the Obama crew don't start to immediately deluge the media with video (at least) images of Romney making his claims during the debate and then showing what he's bee spouting about the same subjects out on the road, then they are as inept as the President appeared to be last night.
This should have already been done... already been anticipated... ready to go. If not for exactly this cause, then at least to use from now to the election.
Rachel Maddow’s segment about Romney lying and showing him actually doing it over and over, is the single most effective video that Republican friends of mine talk about once they see it. They hear about it, but being Republicans and not watching MSNBC, there is virtually nowhere else they’re exposed to the actual proof.
Three: Big thing... don't let Axelrod or Plouffe out of their offices, or let get in front of an interviewer. Non-effective downers... they both simply exude ineffectiveness and indecisiveness... they’re simply boring and colorless even when making an obvious point. They are the Obama campaign's equivalent of having Lehrer as moderator of the debate.
Maybe that's part of the problem. Maybe it's Obama's people that just don't get it... The marbles are on the table... somebody’s going to pick them ALL up... this is not a practice, this is for real.
Spend some money on Maddow’s video made into a TV ad, and get it out there. NOW.
http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2012/09/27/rachel-maddow-mitt-romney-lies-campaign-ads_n_1918722.html?utm_hp_ref=rachel-maddow
Come on. Obama will be seen as 'winning' this in the long term as Romney trips over his own ideas, tries hard to sound like he supports the middle class and erase his 47% comment--but who takes him seriously on that? Especially when EVERYTHING he mentioned would ultimately harm the middle class... even though he tried to be as evasive as possible.
So what did we get? "Is not," re his $5 trillion dollar tax cut; "We'll defund PBS" (that'll really fix the deficit, right?), and a series of ridiculous lies about small businesses shrinking in number (completely untrue), trying to attack energy research and Solyndra (and Tesla!!).
I don't see how anyone how who thinks about it will ultimately believe Obama lost in the long run. Now he can with great geniality say, "Gee that was a nice guy last night claiming to be Mitt Romney, but he couldn't be, because the real Mitt Romney says this and this fellow said the opposite." And he tosses off this good line; "I'm glad that someone is finally coming down hard on Big Bird."
Spin, spin spin. Try honestly owning it for a change. "duped"? C'mon. There is not one shred of credible analysis in this thread of why Obama truely lost the debate. And, he did lose it. It's all so harsh and downright childish; boo hoo. A group of Obama supporters actually were trying to celebrate in a clip, claiming that Obama won. How credible is that.
Romney out-performed Obama, period. That's an easy fact check. Al Gore claims it was the Denver altitude that affected Obama. MSNBC pundits cite the format. Rachel Maddow actually stated right after the debate concluded that she did really could not tell who won the debate (think that was even remotely true?), and wanted all to remember that it had been four years since Obama last debated (seven months in comparison to Romney). Her face said it all as she listened to Chris Matthews' rant. How do you think Rachel would do in her own debate with those arguments/logic? Chris Matthew's unprofessional rant filled with despair speaks for itself (not to mention all this going on with Obama wallpaper in the background).
This are the "liberal" people you rely on for political analysis and your critical information, and the "liberals" (who now call themselves: "Progressives" instead of "liberals") that are currently running the country. Free your minds.
Maybe you all really are being duped.
Peace.
President Obama won and that ain't no bulldinky. Truth prevails. Sorry.
Not,
Yawn!!! Do you think you are the first troll to tell us that???? Scoot back to Fox and try and find something new (if they have anything on that "news" station that isn't recycled)!
Yeah, it was all a little too well rehearsed. It sounded like a quick made up story. I wouldn't be surprised if they find that another candidate debated almost exactly in contrast, with Romney, maybe a Kennedy.
We have to realize that God has made President Obama easy going-he can get down when it counts. I would have loved to see him tear into Mitt but I think he was just tired.
He is tired because he is truly and genuinely fighting hard for the American people-he is walking what he talks. He knows those republican clowns will doom themselves because they have not got a clue of how to run this country.
Let's not forget - and this is not an excuse, just a fact - that Obama is still doing his job as President, not just spending all day every day campaigning like Mitt can. Obama still has to handle intelligence briefings and a hundred other Presidential responsibililties each day while trying to do debate prep and other campaign things.
I know I'd be tired with all of that. He'll bounce back though. This was just #1 of 3.
I got the same feeling, it's funny how you can read people sometimes. It was his Anniversay too, so he was feeling sentimental, thinking about his Mom also, The poor guy has been beaten up and bruised, He's already done a tremendous amount of work, keep praying.
Sorry for the typos.
:)
Romney's lies might be a sign of a health problem. Others are calling me out for saying that but we should all be concerned. We all know that politicians often stretch the truth but his consistent lying makes no sense. Anyone who's a friend of Romney's should encourage his family to have him checked out. As far as the debate or the competition, I can't get mad at Romney because I really think something's wrong with him.
I agree, JoAnn. And I don't say that because he has an R beside his name. Watcing him closely, when speaking and not, I truly think he has one or more disorders, and I think those disorders would be problematic for him (and us) if he becomes President.
By the way - is the 'Cr' for Cedar Rapids? Were you at Kirkwood last night?
It is already a problem for me.
We played the drinking game, take a shot every time Mitt lies.
Passed out after 20 minutes.
Should have played, take a shot every time Mitt tells the truth.
Then I would have been sober and seen the whole debate. :)
Last night, the CEO of Bain Capital swept into the Board Room and upset the apple cart of the etablished owner of the company. That's what he does!! Was it true? Doubtful! But it was well delivered. Stated and restated, despite objections from those around him. (poor Lehrer!)
Y'all underestimated Romney! He is a sneaky weasel. He is willing to do, or say, anything, so long as it suits his purpose. He is every Bad Boss that I have ever had! He was lying like a rug and NO ONE called him on it!
Barack, Honey, Darlin', I know that you wish to emulate Lincoln, and I know that you were trying your best not to blow up on national television, but that lying snake needs an A$s whoopin'! Please deliver one at your earliest opportunity.
BTW: I have not seen any mention of the fact that Romney said as a Business Executive, he KNOWS that there is no tax break for shipping jobs overseas. How exactly does he KNOW that?? Perhaps he actually SHIPPED some jobs overseas?
At first Progressive Power was very upset with the President, and everyone was very upset as well. Hours after the debate. It then struck Progressive Power! The President is baiting/luring, and let the GOP/RNC "Speculator and Chief" spew himself into more lies. The President is like a wise cunning "Political Lion" hiding in the tall grass. He is stalking his "Poltical Prey." That would be the "Flip-Flopping" liittle Deer. AKA. The GOP/RNC "Speculator and Chief." Yes America! The GOP/RNC "Polically Dancing" little Deer is laughing, and smiling on the vast "Political Plain." For now that is! The President was first studying his opponent, then he watched his opponents actions, and then the President was gauging his prey/opponents reactions. Do you see it now America?
i like what steve harvey said on his show this morning. they stood up him. msnbc was going off last night!! and rightly so.
without mnsbc: ed, rachel, chris, lawrence, kieth, michelle, rev. sharpton and all the others. these are the true drum majors of our time. these are the true voices of real american people. they have been sounded the alarm for us for so long and so hard. they all deserve a pulitzer prize for the work they are doing. i do think that president obama looks at msnbc i think he was just tired from all of his hard campaigning.
You like news media that is trying hard to get one candidate elected over the other? One that calls names. One that can never see anything but a liberal point of view. I don't call that news, I call that campaigning. That's why it is very low in viewer ratings.
jes33,
Let me guess - you'd say Faux is high in ratings because they don't do that? Give me a break. They wrote the book on campaigning for (or against) a candidate, calling names, making up ridiculous sh!t and offering a single point of view.
It appears Mr. Romney has been studying the mannerisms and presentation style of Ronald Reagan and it may have have won him the debate. Should President Obama be studying the mannerisms and presentation style of JFK of perhaps a cup of coffee before the debate?
