I think Romney's Big Bird comment is going to strike a chord with a lot of people just like Seamus the dog. And not in a good way for Romney.

The federal government needs the PBS as a form of military defense communications. As more and more commercial communication outlets, fall under international conglomerate control (i.e. Dow Jones; General Electric), TV and Radio stations in the United States will be resistant and potentiality prohibitive toward distributing valuable information to the public during a US emergency if it does not comport with profits or threatens large stakeholders of non-US countries.

Okay, I need to weigh in on the Big Bird Controversy.
My daughters were the first generation of Sesame Street children. At that time, teachers told me that they had to change their course content because SS advanced the kids 2 Grade Levels. PBS is a very small investment in a wonderful outcome.
Can you imagine a country of our wealth not having a public broadcast system?
This election has really gone stupid but then again Romney was pre-Sesame Street and oh yes, he when to all private school. Tell me again how Romney understands the common folk.

OKAY folks. Anyone who ever watched, learned from and allowed their children to do the same, bombard the Romney websites with pictures of Big Bird. Another great American symbol is a target for the far right.

I remember Big Bird growing up. I like Big Bird. I also like the idea of a Flat Tax for all. I've been inspired by PBO and all of his great speech saying that we all need to pay our fair share, and fairness must be for everyone. I agree. I also agree that nothing is more fair then all paying the same tax rate. As you make more money you do pay more. If you make very little, you pay very little; if you make a lot, you pay a lot.

I'm not sure what the exact percent should be, but I wholeheartedly do think that it should be the same for everyone. Nothing could be more fair! Geez, I could open up the window and yell it to the streets like in that 70s movie. Why isn't PBO or Romney running with this. This is the epitome of fair!

Imagine our kids growing up with the notion that as they work harder and harder in life, becoming more and more successful, no one will come knocking on their door asking for more money. I think PBO will surprise us and announce this in the next few weeks. This I think is true. This will be his October surprise!

A fair and Flat Tax for everyone!

422 Billion a year in taxpayer money goes to pbs. Cuts to pbs are are already going through congress. Seams they are turning enough profit to support themselves. Maybe the Obamas can divert some of that 4.4 billion a year they spend on vacations. That's your tax money.

Got to feel sorry for the guy. He better work off his tail feathers for P. Obama. I made a bumper sticker with his face on it. It says "vote Democratic - save Big Bird".

Now I know part of the reason why Obama did so poorly in the first debate - he had the loser John Kerry as his coach. Well I hope Obama shapes up and gets a better coach like Bill Clinton before the second debate.

Here are some zinger suggestions that would have made the difference in the first debate.

1) When Romney said, "under this President, half a million manufacturing jobs were lost", Obama response should have been "Governor, during the last Republican administration, voodoo GOP economic policies, the same ones that you are proposing, decimated manufacturing jobs by half from 17 million in 2001 to 12.55 million in January 2009, according to the apolitical Bureau of Labor Statistics. I am not a magician so I couldn't fix the situation on day one of my Presidency, but fix it I did and manufacturing has REBOUNDED by 1 million jobs since the lows of 2009. The 47% of people receiving government help who you have disowned would have been much lower if Gore had been elected President in 2000. Do the American people really want to go back to the failed economic policies of Republicans? Really?"

2) When Romney said "Massechusetts schools are the best in America", Obama should have replied simply: "So, Governor, why are the people of Massechusetts supporting me over yourself by a whopping margin of 35%? The good people of Massechusetts have lived under your governorship and it is clear that they don't want you back. So why should the American people want someone who has been so thoroughly rejected by the people of your state to become President of the country?"

Here's another suggestion for President Obama.

I hope that by now he has replaced his arcane BlackBerry with an iPhone. He should have links to Romney's previous utterances during the Primaries on his iPhone.

So, in the next debate, when Romney says something "moderate" / "centrist" in line with this recent chameleoning to the center, Obama should take out his iPhone, play a Romney extreme rightwing soundbite from the primaries and ask him to explain his flip-flopping and constant lying.

Hey, this is the 21st century. So debates should catch up with the times.
