Great Video on You Tube
Rachel , Ask Ohio to call Eric Holder and ask him to go after the
AG , get him fired...He is kooking like the works directly for the Republican and does what they say>>>>>
So Romney is even with or ahead of President Obama in the polls, where are the screams and yelling from the Republicans who were so suspicious of the poll numbers and that they had no confidence in them because the data leans Democratic. Now that Romney is even or ahead I do not hear the Republicans complaining about the poll numbers, I hear crickets. When the numbers are against their candidate the are not accurate, however, when they favor their candidate they have all the confidence in the world in the way they are developed. They need to change their name of the party to the Hypocritical Republican Party.
I am an Obama supporter, and usually a fan of the show. But I was frustrated by the segment that was inspired by video of Romney saying that the 2008 presidential debates had no mention of terrorism. Cue tightly edited and no doubt labor-intensive video montage of Obama and McCain debating terrorism a whole lot.
It's pretty obvious from the context in the video, and in particular Romney saying "but just a year later ...." that he just misspoke, and he meant that there was no mention of terrorism in the *2000* presidential debates, with "just a year later" referring to 9/11/2001.
I think that anyone who watched the video and gave the benefit of the doubt would interpret it this way; on the other hand anyone who was scanning Romney video looking for opportunities to create a tightly-edited video-montage snarkfest would just seize on the opportunity.
Honestly, RM - can we dial down the snark? It's tiring me out.
@Tim Converse - with all the blatant lies Romney tells, including at this last debate, why do you still give him any credibility? His aides even had to walk back the "misspeaking" he did during the debate. Quite frankly, whether Romney "misspoke" or not is not the issue -- what is disconcerting is that he misspeaks and lies so much, that if he were to attain office, we would never, ever be able to discern the truth of a matter. It was amazing to me that he was in a room full of retired generals and no one corrected him on his '2008' statement when he said it. He's just a candidate now, imagine if he were POTUS and sat there blithely either misspeaking or lying, and there was no one with the guts to point it out to him. We've already had that scenario under Bush. Romney's glaring gaffes/lies need to be pointed out as often as possible.
What she is doing is called investigative reporting, Romney is trying to paint a different picture as to what actually happened during debates, which is not true. Romney never says anything by accident. This week or next week Romney is going to start touting the idea that the President is not strong enough on terrorists because he doesn't talk about them enough. This gives a heads up approach to the Presidents' campaign advisors to be on the lookout for this tactic. The President doesn't need to talk about terrorists he is taking them out one by one.
Timmy the Concern Tr0ll.
I forgot is he the one with the orange hair?
Now, I know who Romney reminds me of, Jethro Bodine. He's also known for hunting varment along with Elmer Fudd. Kill the wabbit and the Big Bird.
The La Jolla Hillbillies... (bubbling crude?)
Rachel, you and others continue to state that Romney "won" the first debate but I have to strongly disagree. I would allow low information voters and morons like fox no-news characters to claim a win but not anyone with the intelligence to recognize a liar. This is about ethics and honesty, a debate for a candidate to express his positions and policies. When a candidate blatantly lies about his positions then he is a liar! Don't be afraid to call him what he is, a LIAR! If a student gets caught cheating on an exam and attains the highest grade in class, is he the class leader? No, he is disqualified and labeled a cheater. Romney is a liar, plain and simple. Stop promoting a liar as a winner of anything, we don't need a liar in the White House.
President Obama didn't perform well in the debate, he was dull but not a liar! Remember Ben Johnson in the 1988 Seul Olympics? Was he the fastest in the race? Yes but was he the winner, No, he cheated. We don't reward cheaters or lliars, please stop!
You make a good point, @stevep51.
Dear Rachel, While I am concerned about loosing Big Bird, I am more concerned about the down ticket effect that cutting PBS will have on our local community cable stations. My local cable station is http://www.capemedia.org/ They host a lot Telethons that raise millions yearly for many non-profit organizations like Cape Cod & Islands American Red Cross, March of Dimes, and Housing Assistance Corporation, our non-profit that helps to house the homeless & feed them. In 2011, the N.O.A.H. Telethon (No Other Available Housing) raised over 70K http://www.haconcapecod.org/Portals/157707/docs/January%202012.pdf
I can't bake enough brownies for a bake sale to raise enough money to replace the revenue loss should our local cable station go off.
Big Bird would be quickly picked up by another network, but who will pick up our local cable stations?
Please, talk about the other effects of defunding PBS.
