A look at VP Biden's debate notes.
A round-up of post-debate reactions.
Paul Ryan's dilemma: ideological purity vs. constituent services.
Democrats have the voter-registration advantage in several swing states.
Democrat-on-Democrat violence: "You want to get into this?"
The European Union wins the Nobel Peace Prize.
The State Department names a new top diplomat in Libya.
Et tu, Brute? Then fall Caesar. Right here.

I heard somewhere that Romneys' true ambition was to win the The Nobel War prize.
He'd have a lot of competition from other republicans!!
That was Dubya. He wanted to be known as the "War President" and he is.
At least I can breath again..
I know now that Paul Ryan is not ready to be President need be. But Joe Biden is ready to take control if need be. A vice President is not just a guy to stand next to the president, he is the replacement team.
Or in the case of the last few republican presidential candidates, the VP is impeachment/ assassination insurance.
Our Joe came, saw, and kicked the wormy cheesehead Ryan;just how we liked it.
Great debate, at least Ryan still has his other career to fall back on, Macho macho man. Does anyone else not see how this vain image of Ryan is peculiar and the way he flaunts it, it's a strange way for a Congressman to conduct himself. I bet you his wife feels the same way. Who is he advertising his body for? He's been working out so hard that the size of his heart has shrunk considerably.
Not only is he arrogant but thinks all of us are stupi!!! Typical republican!!!!!
"Does anyone else not see how this vain image of Ryan is peculiar and the way he flaunts it"
It's painfully obviously, but those on the right eat that stuff up and the MSM in general is too "polite" (i.e., gutless) to point it out.
And that new photo of him working out wearing his cap backwards makes him look soooo presidential...
Lol! Eddie Munster on steroids. Sorry about the typo in 4.2
My how badly we need these debates. I mean how would we know anything about these public figures and their public records without them?
More importantly how could they deny their previous beliefs or legislation if we failed to give them a stage on which to do a backstroke dance?
I like the cut of your humor. Up-vote for you.
On a serious note, there is something to be said for a candidate that can call out the denials, embellishments, half-truths, and lies of the opposing candidate, on a national stage outside their comfortable bubbles. Romney disarmed Obama last week, Biden checked Ryan last night, and now Obama has to call out Romney's policy shifts next week.
Here you go Congressman Ryan, here's your hat. (and your ass) This is not the fantasy land you've been looking for...move along...move along.
This is totally sickening when you have Republicans only talk about money and have no care or concern about really anybody, except how much profits they can make for the corrupt rich. All it is ever about is greed with Republicans and nothing more. It is like Republicans are obsessed with worshipping money and have no moral or ethical values to speak about. Republicans too much are majorly responsible for this huge debt and the collapse of the world economies and for what. Just how fast and greedily they can make huge profits and get rid of regulations and laws and create huge cost cuts again as you spend like crazy again for the rich so this happens again. And on top of it again more wars that are not paid for and again for some extreme rich bastards. And if Republicans do look to pay for it as they want to now put 2 trillion dollars into the military for these non-solution wars and just more senseless misery, despair, violence, and death. And on top of it cut the important programs that help people just so the extreme rich can have more huge profits. Do these Republicans, extremists of hatred, and extreme wealthy even listen to themselves on how literally sick they sound. Republicans can pretend all they want they care, but they only show how really pathetic they are. The American people really need to think about impeaching or finally getting rid of these sick pathetic Republicans that only cause devastation. You get them good VP Joe Biden your our guy.
Of these rich, WASPY, greedy, legislators, I think Morrissey said it best, "When will you die."
You nailed it Deb... WELL SAID!
Couldn't agree more! I have never seen people make selfishness into a virtue while touting the lie they are good christians! Keep telling yourself that!
Awesome comment!!!
If Romney and Ryan are SO religious, then why do they stand up there telling all those lies! If thats the case, I'm not attending church with them because sooner or later LIGHTNING'S GONNA STRIKE !!!
According to their own holy text, you cannot serve both god and mammon. Pretty clear which they've chosen.
What disturbs me more than lies is the fact that men who claim to be "pro-life" are the very ones that are so eager to start wars, arm questionable entities, carpet bomb areas and send our precious sons and daughters into harms way.
How many "innocents" are killed? Civilians (pregnant women), "collateral casualties"?
If you are pro war and/or pro capital punishment, you can not be pro life.
“Who oversees the safety of compounding facilities?
Although the FDA regulates drug manufacturers, it does not have the same authority over drug compounders such as NECC.
This week, lawmakers in Washington called for a congressional investigation of the outbreak. "This incident raises serious concerns about the scope of the practice of pharmacy compounding in the United States and the current patchwork of federal and state laws and systems that oversee this practice," Rep. Henry A. Waxman (D-Beverly Hills) and others wrote in a letter to the leaders of the House Committee on Energy and Commerce.”

Now here is a good example of how Republicans would like to get rid of regulation and laws that really help people. Republicans speak so boldly that all these regulations and laws are detrimental to businesses generating their huge amounts of profits. These Republicans and rich people want to keep pushing workers to work longer hours under strained conditions with less and less wages and benefits and for what? To have sloppy work done just so some rich bastard can have huge profits at the very expense of everybody’s lives and health. Now I know of a person who got this spinal meningitis and it has literally down graded the quality of her life. She cannot even walk anymore, because of this mess and lack of proper regulation. And the Republicans are going to sit there and try to tell me they are working on my and others behalf BULL CRAP. Republicans are doing the same typical crap they have always done and that is working for extreme greed at the very price of everybody else. You never catch me voting for one of these bastard politicians again, you blood sucking low life leeches.
Very good post--share this often and maybe some people will awaken to the very same fact.
Oakland Sues U.S. to Prevent Closing of Marijuana Dispensary

How do you debate a constant liar? We've seen two attempts and neither really worked. Sure, the VP energized the base but it appears the fence-sitters saw him as pushy and rude. The POTUS was seen as weak for not taking on the lies. Is there a middle way that could work? You need to counter every lie in a way that the soundbite of the lie does not have a chance to resonate but it appears that needs to be done in such a way that you don't appear rude. We seem to be in uncharted territory for the audacity and constant barrage of a campaign's lies. I'm trying to find examples of someone who debated against the style effectively but I haven't found it yet.
we now live in a Honey Boo Boo and House Wives of ______— society and facts seem to be irrelevant to most. So they learned to keep telling the same lie and people begin to believe it. It reminds me of George Orwell's 1984. Most read that and saw a warning, they read it and saw a blueprint. Sad and disturbing.
"it appears the fence-sitters saw him as pushy and rude"
It ought to be obvious by now that so-called "moderates", "independents", "middle-of-the-roaders", and suchlike are actually Republicans who won't openly identify as Republicans. The "fence-sitters" are p!ssy because their ox was gored. (no pun intended)
From a post-it note from the presidential bedside:
"I looked pretty tired. Get about 8 hours of sleep every night between now and Tuesday."
bottom line we spend too much and tax too little, no party has offered anything to get us out of this mess. just more failed policies and ideas that are based on previous failed policies.
So... are we voting Roseanne Barr this election? Or just checking out?
Maybe I should write-in vote Ron Malouin for President. That'll get things done.
VP Biden did great! He let Ryan know he wasn't going to let him spread those lies. Ryan's pants was on fire, I think he drank Joe's water too! Standing ovation!!
Republicans want to make this a referendum for Obamacare and we have to be able to defend it as Democrats. In fact we need to make sure we embrace the idea and its necessity to society. If you want to have a look at both sides of the Obamacare rhetoric with an interesting twist check this out.

I'm certainly glad Joe was able to get the base confident again, and I know Obama will do the same Tuesday. Like a rookie QB in the NFL, you may show some new tricks on game 1, but the defense will hit you in the mouth if you try that mularky again!
I voted early in Ohio yesterday. It was interesting that when I cast my vote for our president, Mr. Romneys name was the top of the ballot, our president Mr. Obama's name was at the bottom of the ballot and, the candidates for other parties in between the two. I guess the replubicans are hoping people won't look past the top few names of the ballot
I'm in Ohio too....and your thought is quite frankly a bit frightening. Is it just coincidence or is it deliberate? I keep hoping that Ohio goes blue but thn again I know too many (a good deal of them family unfortunately) that want Romney simply because: "He's not Obama." That thought is even more frightening. People will vote for whoever the opponent is because they are not Obama. Forget the fact that the policies they will put into place will do them more harm than good. *sigh* It's hard to be a liberal in a (pretty much) GOP state. Even harder when those friends and family members begin sliding deepr and deeper into extreme, far, right-wing conspiracy theory crap....
That is awful. Just proves that they will do anything to win. I worked in Jacksonville, FL for the 2004 election. You would not believe what black people had to go through to cast a vote. I ended up driving people from polling place to polling place and every time they were told they were "not in the right place to vote". I know many gave up. I hope that people will not put up with this again. People who need help voting can legally bring someone with them to help them with reading the ballot. Don't let the poll workers tell you otherwise. They will try, at least they did in 2004.
"Is it just coincidence or is it deliberate?"
Something that crass could not possibly be a coincidence.
FYI, I called an ex-elections official to follow up on this, and he confirmed my hunch that the placement of the names of the presidential candidates on Ohio ballots is randomized. So a different ballot will have a different order of candidates.
Big love for you Vp Biden..you brought it!! Ryan was schooled by a pro!!
I saw this morning that Mitt Romney met with Billy Graham yesterday, and received praise from the elderly evangelist:
But I just looked on billygraham.org, and found the following under the heading "What Is a Cult?":
But... but... but....
Honestly, what force in Graham's mind is reconciling these two opposing beliefs?
This is the same BIlly Graham who said America deserved the attack on 9/11 because America permits homsexuality!! Like too many so-called "Christians' they can't decide what they beleive or which side they're on.
"what force in Graham's mind is reconciling these two opposing beliefs?"
His totally unprincipled hypocrisy.
@Harry Barr, I think you're confusing Billy Graham and Jerry Falwell.
Same difference...two peas in a pod.
I ran across this today. Do they ever stop?

I think women who vote for Romney are attempting to return us to the dark ages.
I think VP Joe Biden did an outstanding job last night debating Paul Ryan. He was direct, honest and thoughtful with all his answers. As far Joe as being rude, I did not see it that way. The Republicans don't deserve the Whitehouse since they for 4 years have tried to sabotage every good thing the president has tried to do and then lied to our people instead of resolving problems. They need to get themselves together to become a better party and get their priorities straight!
Re: VP Debate. Joe's smile ('twas NOT a smirk—look up the definition!) seemed to be a genuine and effective reaction to a Ryan lie or inconsistency. VP Biden was passionate and articulate, bringing up almost all the important issues and differences between the two campaigns. Congressman Ryan did not answer questions/issues directly, and in some cases, went straight to his talking points instead. Gotta ask: Who would you want answering that 3AM call? I say, experience wins . . . VP Joe Biden any day of the week over the inexperienced Paul Ryan.
I don't know if I am the only one to have noticed that when the responses to the decorated veteran's question "why is there so much negativity in our politics?", Paul Ryan went into a completely negative mode about the current administration.
I worked in the government for many years , And I just want say that ,congressmen Ryan who wants to be called Mister Ryan really got his clock cleaned last night, (you see ) as the Vice President was being kind to him by just laughing or as some tea par-tiers would put it (smiling) which as they put it did not look professional. The Truth of the matter is the VP was smiling to save himself from reaching over to congressmen Ryan, Oh I`m sorry Mister Ryan and smack his goo fey looking As$$ 47%.... and tell him again young man I was in the room so you are out of your league and if you think you can come in the back door of congress sit there for few years doing math problems for other republicans who couldn't do there own math problems and writing papers for others who can't do them for them selves and then slide into the white house as VP saying I worked hard by blocking every thing the president to do to help the middle class.Congressmen Ryan is not ready for prime time or a VP seat in the white house, and Vice President Bi den kicked Mister Ryan ego in the trash where it belongs with his one sided views ,Great Job! Vice president Biden. Case Closed
Now I know: Paul Ryan is not ready to be President is duty calls. Joe Biden is ready and can be President if duty calls.
A vice president is not a person who just stands next to the president, but the replacement team (the whole team).
sorry if duty calls (got watch those auto fills)
I was at the debate yesterday and I SOOO enjoyed watching MSNBC do their show from Centre College. TOO bad Morning Joe passed on the opportunity. And just in case you all are curious the Obama/ Biden supporters were well in the majority. When the Romney supporters tried to chant Romney /Ryan we Dems shouted them down with "Fired up-ready to go". We'll see how Reflubican this state still is by the time this election is over because we have had it with McConnell and Paul as Senators from Kentucky and the State government is Dem so if we do our jobs and show up for ALL the elections we could swing this state for both Congress and President.
I'll tell you what was a noticeable difference was there is no enthusiasm among the R's that I can find. Hell-they don't like Romney and Ryan it is quite clear but they'll vote for anybody but Obama even if they are slitting their own throats. I hope somebody learned something last night about the TRUTH because they got it in gobs for a change. I love it when FAUX can't filter the information-it's just too bad that so many were probably watching the games...
I'm glad all you leftist wingnuts have your own forum to cry about the mean republicans,I'm a reg. independent voter, and THE BIG O,DRAWS Bush like a gun, when he explains his economic policy. It is always Bush's fault, and the mean republicans.under the big O policy our debt went from ten trillion to sixteen trillion, whose takes that to the bank, surly, not Obama
"Leftist wingnuts"?
It's clear you're lying about being a "reg. independent voter". That term doesn't mean what you think it means.
Check in back with us when you can at least display an open mind, like a real independent voter is supposed to. Otherwise, your Sean Hannity forums are that way.
