FINAL VOTE RESULTS FOR ROLL CALL 690
Paul Ryan’s budget keeps Obama’s Medicare cuts. Full stop.
Bush Apologizes To Iraqi Prime Minister Over Quran ‘Target Practice’

Joe Biden was quite exuberant during the debate, but the several time Ryan made a snarky comment he moved his head like a snake with smug satisfaction, well at least until Biden responded.
Exuberant? Republicans hope he remains "exuberant" for the rest of the campaign.
Why has not any one picked up on when Ryan answered a question asked by Martha Radittz about" give me specifics on" 20% across the board (sic) & he answered with this:What we are saying, lower tax rates 20% ,start with the wealthy, work with congress to do it" & then was interrupted by Martha.? Why has not someone been screaming about this or put this in an ad ?
I think Martha muttered "no specifics" after he finished his
answerunresponsive verbiage.Yes, she did mutter that. Priceless! Hope the dems take advantage of that soundbyte.
OMG - The President and staff leakng Confidential timelines and info? What SERIOUSNESS do you NOT see with this issue? That's like Russia saying "we're dropping a nuke at midnite Sept 12 - Geez...wise up and quit being biassed

Re: Gun fired at Denver Dem Field office. FoKKKs and hate radio must be revving up the reich wing nutjobs hoping for something like this.
ttboynj,
Are you so unaware of what is going on in this country that you think Rachel is running for president???
Or are you just a troll???
My friend's boyfriend volunteers at the Obama field office in Laguna Beach, CA. He reports that people come in frequently and scream/yell at them about the president. I'll take yelling over bullets any day, but what the h*ll, people?
The field office also held a watch party for the Obama/Romney debate. They can't sell drinks but they are allowed to accept donations for a drink and the night of the debate were so doing.
The Romney field office is across the street and the Repubs heard about donations for drinks and didn't like it. A few days after the debate a person visited the Dem office, asked for a beer, made a donation, and before the purchaser could be told that the drink had to be consumed in the Dem office, grabbed the beer and flew across the street and into the Repub office with what was described as a "sh*it eating Republican grin" on his face. This behavior is reminiscent of the child-like antics of Scott Brown's staff whooping and making air tomahawk gestures in MA in the presence of Elizabeth Warren's supporters.
I get that this stuff happens, that campaign workers are on their second to last set of nerves in this campaign, but I so want to believe we are better than this, that our personal integrity reservoirs are deep. This shallowness does not become us -- regardless of party affiliation.
We all want to believe that- no, most of us do, but it only takes a few scuzballs to drag the whole process down.
welcome to the death of civility. what you are describing and what happened in Denver is just emblematic of what happens when people start feeling tribal about their politics. Is it any wonder that our representatives can't get anything accomplished when we can't even discuss or debate our opinions with people who might not share them without it devolving into a shouting match. My suggestion to your friend would be to walk across the street and challenge the other office to a public debate on the merits. Be the adults who set an example, we are (at least in theory) a nation that settles conflicts with words, not with threats and violence. (If the idea of intelligent debate falls on deaf ears then there is only one alternative; Water pistols at ten paces)
First, Romney/Ryan said that they didn't want to provide specifics about their tax plan to the public because their opponents would use the information against them. Then they said that they couldn't provide specifics to the public because unlike every other tax plan in the history of tax plans, theirs can't be scored under traditional Congressional Budget-scoring rules. Then they said that they can't provide specifics to the public because they simply don't have the time to explain their plan. Now they are claiming that it wouldn't be prudent for them to provide specifics to the public because it would inhibit them from working in a bipartisan way with congress.
And we are supposed to take these people seriously?
Unfortunately, you're preaching to the choir (in which I enthusiastically sing).
Rachel has been saying, for some time now, that people hold their nose when they vote for Mitt. Wealthy americans and trickle-down/supply-side ideologues are probably the only ones who sincerely like him. His other supporters are more anti Obama than pro MItt. That's the only way to explain their support for 2 candidates who all but explicitly "take the Fifth" when asked about their policy positions, or say whatever the audience in front of them wants to hear.
Rachel , i stand by my earlier statement that The President purposely low balled the first debate and since then he has admitted to being ' too polite' . His plan was a brilliant operation however they forgot one thing ' this President is an African American. His performance was seen as ' lazy ' a stigma that is associated with African Americans. How odd a Harvard Law professor can be degraded so easily. The President wasnt being brilliant to the public, he was being lazy, a typical blk man . How unfortunate he was so easily stereotyped by his enemies and how astounding is it how many Americans bought into that.
Did someone ask you for an inane, transparant fantasy which couldn't begin to dry out the political quicksand your president is sinking in? If so, congrats! Well done!
He was asked pointed questions which exposed failure after failure, which he valiantly tried to "umm ummmm" his way around, but to no avail. That was no act, it was the pathetic reality of a dismal job interview. Next, please!
Beach...
Did anyone ask YOU for your inane, "transparant" response? If so, congrats! Well done!
D Wells, The president is bi-racial. Far too many make no effort to see past his skin color and it's pathetic to notice that he has skin color.
I wanna point something out that many people may not have got from Paul Ryan. Shows you how stupid he is as an elected leader and who he really represents. I think its one of those lifestyle things where you have to grow up that way to get it. Paul Ryan was talking about turning Medicare into a voucher system and at one point he said "It's not a voucher. A voucher is a check you get in your mailbox." I grew up on welfare so let me explain government voucher system to everyone and Paul Ryan so he finally gets it. The governmental voucher systems for example Housing Choice, aka "Med Housing" doesn't send you the check. You apply for it and they send it directly to your landlord. So it's very clear that Paul Ryan and even VP Biden doesn't know what they are talking about. I have also worked with Division of Assertive Services which helps the disabled find jobs and go to school, they do the same thing. The check goes to vender via an invoice. So still no check in the mailbox. How can you really trust people who really don't know what they are talking about? Paul Ryan wants to turn medicare into system that works by a series of vouchers that paid directly to the insurance company or the government. There is not enough Housing Choice Vouchers now, and people are waiting lists sometimes 2 years long. Just think if you had cancer and you had to wait for a voucher to go to the doctor! Not to mention the government running out of the voucher or the voucher system going broke! (does happen now). What an idiot Paul Ryan is. He has not research how the states do vouchers and he is trying to push it off on the disabled and elderly. Paul Ryan needs to shut his mouth and do some research. He maybe nice to look at, but man when that guy opens his mouth to speak he ruins it. He doesn't lack the education to know what he is talking about. I think I rather listen to an ugly Kerry than an attractive Ryan any day of the week. Good looks doesn't equal brains. In fact most of the guys I grew up with that has his body skipped classes and raped cheerleaders more than they were in class. Beauty doesn't equal brains! So yea Paul Ryan is bad for America.
What I find is really sad is that so many people have no idea why the economy went bad in 2007 and 2008. How can you have a debate when the other person doesn't know what a derivative is or credit default swap or a Collateralized Debt Obligation or mortgage back securities? I'm really doubtful if many can explain what capitalism is.
There are no new regulations to prevent the economy from collapsing again. The republicans seem to say we have to have less than the zero amount we had before.
Investing in the middle class and the poor class is not the problem. Helping others obtain the so-called American dream is not the problem. The problems stem from 2 wars that were never paid for, tax cuts for the rich, and allowing speculation on the open market on mortgages that caused an inflated values on homes that was not worth what they were saying it was worth. The Banks, Republicans and the upper 1% caused predatory lending practices on people who were not as well off as them. They specifically targeted people of the lower classes as a way of getting rich faster. In the end, the middle class and the poor suffered more than the banks ever did. The loss of money is nothing compared to the hardships and pain that was caused to the families who loss their homes. My mother was one of them. She lost the family homestead that has been in our family 100 years because of predatory lending practices. This Capitalism you speak of is a myth like the Lochness Monster. It doesn't exist. What does exist is system that favors the ones who have money and target pain on the ones who don't. That is just as bad as Communism, if not worse than Communism. It's wrong to get rich off the suffering of others. Every religious leader in history would agree with that including Jesus Christ. We don't need a debate on the mechanics of Capitalism. What we need are policies and job programs that will help people make more money, get out poverty and make Americans better for it. In the definition of Capitalism you speak of, you cannot have that so the system of Economical capitalism fails. But most of all its fails the people its supposed to be benefiting. Capitalism in its current state is a failure, and the greedy vacuum that it has created will be our nation downfall. When we value things and money more than people it will cause our downfall.
Help me out here, as Ryan was speaking quickly. At one point he said "If you xyz, the deficit will still be 300 B." Around the same time, he said "If you abc, it will only fund the government for 98 days." Remember? What were the xyz and abc?
I thought he was referring in both examples to the proposed tax increase on AGI above $250k. If so, he was making a huge case in favor of the increase. A deficit of $300 B would be a 70% or more drop from current levels, which would be considered a monumental success. Covering the cost of gov't for 98 days is the functional equivalent of a 27% decrease in overall federal spending--also an enormous improvement.
Am I wrong about what he said? Or did Ryan just tell us this tax increase on 2% would be great for the federal books?
Much of what Ryan said could be characterized as a "Pre-recorded message"
I don't remember who said it - but Ryan effectively repeated it "Life begins at conception - but ends at birth."
I received an interesting survey in the mail today from Americans for Prosperity. I can scan it and email it to you or someone in your office, if you do not have a copy.
Why is nobody pointing out that Ryan quoted Obama as saying "if you don't have any fresh ideas, use stale tactics and scare people." This was actually plucked out of a sentence where Obama, in his 2008 acceptance speech, was talking about what his cynical detractors would recommend doing. It's like what the Rove PAC did in the commercial when they snipped a quote from a speech by Obama, quoting McCain saying "If we talk about the economy, we'll lose" and then just leaving out the first part so it sounded like Obama was saying that about himself. This tactic is so puerile and dishonest its beyond belief. Yet Ryan, who could be potentially a heartbeat away from the presidency, was using this high school level slimy debate prank. How can he be taken seriously if he resorts to this tactic? Every journalist worth his or her salt should be screaming foul and it should be held up as something so unscrupulous as to disqualify Ryan from ever holding high office. I have never seen this tactic used by a party so blatantly, so often, and without any apparent repercussions. How could Ryan get away with this in a vice presidential debate?
Yes it's interesting how Ryan plays the bully card so often. He believes anyone who questions him is some how bullying him. The American Media Conspiracy he and every other Tea Partier keeps spouting off. He's played this card before and it just makes him look weak and stupid. Which is what he looked like that in that debate. He's out of his league and he knows it so he is playing the victim. I just hope Americans don't fall for it.
My patriotic response to Jonathan Kraft, son of NE Patriots owner Bob Kraft, holding a non patriotic fundraiser for Mitt, a man who seemingly has never played 'sport'

One of the sound bites Mitt has put out which shows who he really is and what he believes in. This is his stump speech on the Chinese factor workers living in dorm rooms at a factory which has a fence around the plant to keep people out instead being used to keep the people in. You can see he loves the idea of having a work force like this, he loves taking advantage of cheap labor. You can see the trill in his eyes. The word dorm is not the one we think of from collage. The dorm in China is a huge room with canvas walls that families live behind. Or single people live with no walls, just bunk beds, one after another. Why is this important? If American workers compete against the China workers, we have to lower our standard of living to this level. The 1920 company camps were better than this. This is Mitt's aspirations for the American worker.
Every American should see PBS's documentary "The greatest human migration". This show is the truth and the Republican party hates the truth. That is the real reason the Republican party wants to kill PBS.
