I thought VP Biden did really good. When he started channeling a little FDR in his "Who do you trust" moments I was for ready to vote as president. Paul Ryan was just out of his league. I love to see Biden stick to him. Paul Ryan has been nothing but a jerk for the past few years. It's time someone called on his lies. I don't anyone believes Paul Ryan's math actually adds up. I am sorry but 2+2 doesn't = 5. I hope the President comes out swinging next week and challenge on his bold face lies to the American people.
I watched the debate , Biden did a great job.. When you see the FOX news talking bobblehead fools concentrate on how "Disrespectful" Biden was to Ryan in the debate , you KNOW Biden won the debate.
Obama needs to come at Mitt Romney the same way , forget about being labeled the "Angry Black Man" he can be subtle and get his point across without seeming to be angry. Obama should CORRECT Mitt Romnney when he starts walking back his campaign promises on abortion , tax cuts , healthcare , and so on.
He should look at Mitt Romney and call him out on his "Etch a Sketch" debate moments , ask the moderator who this Mitt Romney is that keeps changing his campaign positions everytime he is front of a televison camera.
Mitt Romney is going to try and use the tactic of running out the time clock and not allow Obama to give his rebuttal just like Paul Ryan tried to do with Joe Biden. Obama should interupt Mitt Romney when he starts lying or when he takes too long to answer the question.
Obama should also remind the American people how many americans the so called "Obamacare" has already benefited and the millions more it will benefit when it is fully implemented , he should remind Mitt Romney that the supreme court ruled it constitutional.
He should remind Mit Romney that he did and op-ed screaming that Detroit should be allowed to go bankrupt. There is alot of amunition Obama can use against Mitt Romney on this next debate.
He should ask Mitt Romney if what he wants is to start another war in the Middle east against countries like Syria or Iran. Just like Biden asked Paul Ryan , that was priceless. He should remind the american people that there are riots going on in Iran right now because their currency is being devalued by 35% , remind them that sanctions against Iran are working , contrary to what Mitt Romney may say or think.
Obama needs to call out Mitt Romney on his B.S. and leave the nice guy persona at home.
Thanks Pee, you saved me a lot of time writing about what strategy Obama needs to adopt in the next debate. All I need to say is "ditto." I hope the Obama camp has figured this out.
My one apprehension is that Obama seems to find no joy in hurting people, and he'll need to hurt Mitt in the next debate. Mitt has no such impediment; he'll hurt anyone to further his ambition, just like he'll say anything to further his ambition. I hope Obama can find some anger in himself and use it constructively. Mitt, a venture and vulture capitalist, won't back down or stop coming at Obama. What the country needs to see is Obama successfully counterpunching, over and over again, until the blood is all over Mitt's face, while Obama dances away from Mitt's charges. Mitt didn't win on substance, he took the fight to Obama and appeared to control the ring. That has to change.
It was a calculated move on Mitt Romney to walk back all of his political campaign talking points during the debate, everybody expected the "Etch a Sketch" move but nobody not even president Obama expected he would pull it off on the night of the debate. That was a slick move on his part. I think that is what Chrispy Cream Chritie was talking about when he said Mitt Romney would surprise everyone.
Now for the next debate I am sure Mitt will try and shut out Obama , not give him any length of time so he can rebuttal. That is something Obama needs to watch out for , Ryan did it to Biden , but Biden caught on early and cut him off, Obama needs to do the samething to Mitt.
I truly hope that Obama also provides the American people with a clear VISION of where we were four years ago , where we are now , and where we will be four years from now if he indeed wins re-election. The American people right now are hungry for answers , they are hungry for the president to provide leadership when it comes to getting people back to work.Whoever provides that vision and a clear plan on how to get Americans back to work and off the uneployment lines, That is the candidate who will win this election.
And right now Mitt Romney has been too vague when it comes to letting the American people know exactly what his plan is for turning around this economy and putting people back to work. The american people are not BUYING what he is selling that tax cuts alone will do the trick. When he brings that up in the next debate Obama needs to hammer him on it.
We have tried trickle down economics already, and the only thing it has demonstrated over the years is that it does not work. The trickle never materializes. Its a debunked economic philosophy.
heh, heh ... Just watched the trailer on YouTube for The Manchurian Candidate w/Denzel Washington, and the first comment, which comes to mind when I look in Mr. Ryans eyes, is
Oh, and that was prompted by watching Mind Control: America's Secret War on freedocumentaries.org / The Truth is Free.
So, yeah, I'm thinking it hasn't stopped with MKULTRA and its 149 subprojects from the 50s and 60s -- disturbance of memory, discrediting by aberrant behavior, alteration of sex patterns, eliciting of information, suggestibility, creation of dependence -- and wow, just think, the CIA et. al. has had more than 4 decades to improve upon this!!! Lt. Col. Thomas Bearden would use a more modern term, "psychoenergetics."
Sound like fun, anyone?
This wouldn't be complete without an excerpt:
Hmm. Wonder who the target market is today? It was done in the name of national security then during the Cold War -- today, terrorism.

I DVR'd and cranked up those comments Ryan made to Romney getting off the plane Thursday. He said, "Glad to get that monkey off my back" and then "You know? He was acting so asinine". But then, that's the kind of language one would expect from a couple of prep school snobs isn't it?
TLC was founded in 1972 by NASA and the Health Department as an educational channel. It was privatized. Now it shows Honey Boo Boo.
Nothing like ' the dumibing down ' of America. This has been going on for decades now.
Read the work of the father of ( non-right-wing ) homeschooling, John Taylor Gatto : http://www.johntaylorgatto.com/
If it were not for PBS, BBC, CSPAN and some of the MSNBC programing . . . there would be nothing close to authentic ' reality ' to watch on TV.
MSNBC - Prison and pot all weekend long.....
LOL.. Funny how that works , during the week you get to see what corruption , greed , campaign finance , superpacs , and dirty politicians have done to destroy the lives of average everyday americans and our political system here in America. And then on the weekends you get to see how huge our prison system is and what a FARCE the war on drugs , gangs , and illegal hand guns has become.
Only in America kids , only in America...
All this lauding of Martha Raddatz is ABSURD!!! She slurred words and spoke inexorably slowly, as if she was DRUNK! She also falsely premised questions on SSA and Medicare, stating both programs are 'broke' when they are NOT...
If you believe THAT's presidential material, you have lost a viewer, for your assertions are ridiculous! SHAME ON YOU FOR SETTLING FOR SO VERY LITTLE...
"SHAME ON YOU FOR SETTLING FOR SO VERY LITTLE.."
Yet here I am, reading you..
Did I hear Congressman Ryan correctly in the VP Debate? (I was easily distracted by Joe Bidens smile so I may have missed something.) Did Ryan say he lacks confidence in the solvency of social security? Oh Congressman Ryan has had that attitude for many years now hasn't he. I have some nervous thoughts on the subject for folks in NH or NH south in winter(Florida). http://chasmcduffee.blogspot.com/2012/10/social-se... You see I think we need a pledge to protect Social Security no matter what. To make Social Security too big too fail.
Once you start in on "pledges" you have crossed the border into Grover Norquist territory and that never is any good for anyone. I think there are serious problems with social security and medicare but I also think they can be solved without seriously altering the the intended purpose of the programs and without putting the money at risk by gambling with it on the stock market.
Joe Biden, hands flailing and sometimes wringing, smiled and smirked his way to a win! (God I wish my teeth looked that good!) The lesson here is that people need to be real. So Biden was Biden gloves off, reactions established. Did you hear Rush growling about it? Another indicator Joe won!
Yeah, the media so pathetic in this country it can be whipped around by the frothing morons in wingnuttia to trumpet the idea that because Biden was incredulous at the torrent of nonsense coming out of the big (low body) fat liar Paul Ryan's mouth and expressed it was a topic that should even be discussed. That they could be pushed around to consider it a draw when Biden stomped P90X boy's a$$ on the substance is yet another indication of how crappy the press is in this country.
Disgusted, I love you! I don't always agree with you, as you know, but I can always rely on you to tell it as you see it. You have such a wonderful way of expressing yourself in terms that hit in the gut, that when I do agree with you (which is most of the time) I always wish I had said it your way. Thank you.
I have been disgusted all week with the "consensus" coming across the tv screen that the Vice President overacted in the debate. As he said "I always mean it." and he does. I highly respect Joe Biden and felt that his smiles, shaking his head, laughing out right was exactly how he felt about the fallacious statements made by Paul Ryan and that those pretty well would have been my reactions to the garbage too.
The double standard that exists in the media is enough to infuriate a saint. That ass Romney who acted like a spoiled brat rudely interrupting the moderator and the President of the United States, running his mouth rampantly with lies, a whole refusal of what he has professed for the last year, ignoring the rules his campaign had agreed to and showing how shallow a being he is, "WON"? Now that the Vice President smiles, shakes his head and laughs at the lies and distortions of this arrogant, little boy "He is a bully." How the heck do these people stand for anything????
What really upsets me is that there seems to be an overwhelming number of human beings in this country that goes with the flow, with no thought, no conviction to the reality they are seeing, no judgement of what they know and have experienced in order to make up their own minds. I cannot believe the poll garbage that is being touted. All those people who were voting for President Obama, who truly believed that the country was getting better have decided to vote for a profane, deceitful, robotic farce because he can behave like an ass????? How have we been educating these puppets? How do they function in this world?
I am a poor poster, because I read incessantly, but cannot remember where I read it or who wrote it, so I cannot post my sources. I can only state what I know to be true. I have lived a long and crisis filled life that has given me a lot of experience in human behaviour. I was married to a man that always said "You can fool a fool, you can con a con, but you can't snow the snowman." (I don't need to spell out which one he was.) I have learned the tough way to look behind the words to see the person. I cannot believe the naivete of the American public that borders on the brainless.
Of course, that is just my opinion.
Finally I have watched Martha Raddatz report on foreign policy for years. She has always been focused, to the point, and used small questions to elicit big answers. Martha, you did great in that debate. A week ago Gov. Romney interrupted whenever he wanted to. You fed them tough questions and let em rip, thank you!
Agreed.
Finally, a reporter asking the questions, instead a talking head/news reader.
I have no idea what either of you are talking about. Raddatz sucked giant elephant genitals as a moderator.
1) Worst was her choice of topics. It was clear gift to the asswhoes trying to make hay with the, in the scope of things, trivial Libya thing. That dumba$$ spent something like 15 minutes on it. Look, just because she's, like the rest of her peers in the media, an ignoramus, technically incompetent on the real details and polices she's supposed to cover, doesn't mean she shouldn't have reached out to others for help on her topics. Way, way, WAY too much foreign policy. And she wasn't even good on that. She spent much too much time on foreign policy, way too little time on domestic, and no time on topics that haven't been introduced in the debates to date: immigration, energy, climate change, ...
2) Does Raddatz know what she was talking about? Was she competent to be the one choosing and asking questions of the people who could be President? Consider that she started off one question like this: “Both Medicare and Social Security are going broke.”
That exposes just how fu king stupid she is. Seriously, were you two watching the same thing I was. Sure, I heard all the morons afterward saying what a great job she did: Gwen Ifill, Charlie Rose, Heilemann, the irrepressibly non-substantive Halperin ...., clueless idiots, all.
And seriously, the last question. Good grief.
I'll give her one thing and one thing only: she was OK as a referee. But otherwise, she was a disaster; a incompetent mediocrity and a perfect representative of the Beltway Dumba$$es who control the out-of-focus conversation and the ineptly drawn picture of reality the rest of America is left with. And a good place to start to figure out just how the f ck the country got to the mess it's in.
I wish the media consisted of people who actually know thing. It doesn't.
Raddatz sucked.
Seriously, Disgusted?
Had you lumped in All the MSM you would be on to something, the corporatocracy controls Everything,,,,
Yes, seriously, Gregg R., Raddatz sucked.
I can't believe anybody thought otherwise. Her topics were not proportioned according to importance at all. Too damned much foreign policy and so much of a give-a-way to what Romney and Ryan want to may hay over. She simply could not break out of the only thing she knows and covers: foreign policy.
And when she did do something on domestic policy, she showed what an ignoramus she was. That was glaringly obvious to ANYONE who's been paying attention. Apparently, you've been asleep. She is simply a creature of a Washington driven by a wrong-headed focus on deficits and debt, a Washington driven by people like Pete Petersen and his billions. A Washington of intellectual mediocrities that don't know what they're talking about.
Also, when she was on domestic issues, she didn't bring up some of the most serious issues. There was no serious discussion of energy. There was no discussion of climate change. There was no discussion of women's issues. There was no discussion of obstruction by the Republicans in Congress (of which Paul Ryan is quite responsible for). There was no discussion on hardly anything. But we did alllllways get pulled back to topics Romney-Ryan wanted to talk about: Iraq, Iran, the Middle East, Israel, ..., and for which they could make baseless charges because of ignorance of the public primed not to be able to discern what was the truth and what wasn't. Raddatz sucked.
I'm not sure why I have to lump in all the COMSM when the discussion was on whether Raddatz did a good job. Of course, the COMSM sucks.
But Raddatz was the face of that sucking at the VP debates.
Raddatz sucked.
Hey!!! There's some serious misrepresentation going on here. The 'Ville is Louisville, KY. Period. Centre College is nowhere near Louisville. Yeah, Kentucky is an embarrassment. (4th wingnuttiest state in the country if you go by difference in %-age of the vote in the state in which McCain beat Obama in 2008.) Except for Louisville, which is a pretty great place.
Prepare for lift off 8...10.11.12. Blastoff!!!
New Million Muppet march on Washington set for Nov. 3.
Apologies if this has been addressed, but I wanted to ask. Ryan was speaking quickly, but didn't he say during the debate the proposed tax hike on AGI above $250k would still leave us with a $300 B deficit? Didn't he also say that the tax hike would only fund the government for 98 days? Did I misunderstand?
If I didn't, then Ryan is making a huge case in favor of this tax increase. A deficit of 300 B would mean a 70 - 75% decrease, which would be phenomenal! Funding government for 98 days means over one fourth of the year at essentially no cost. The equivalent of a 27% reduction in government spending!
Tell me if I got this wrong.
Has anyone ever really looked into Paul Ryan's finances? Is he a trust fund baby? I read a New Yorker article on him and his family and they go back to the 1800s, created a national road building company which is currently run by his cousin. Ryan's grandfather and father were both attorneys and having worked for attorneys I know one of the first things they do is set up trust funds for their kids. His wife inherited $5 million and my guess is Ryan is also a millionaire trust fund baby which is why he is so keen to call working class people parasites and to preserve and protect his own wealth at all costs.
So Rachel ... here is something to explore. Romney Ryan ticket is paying for a half-page ad in "The Enquirer" to promote Ryan's visit to Cincinnati, OH on Monday (Lunken Airport) as an invite to "Join Paul Ryan and the Republican Team for a Victory Rally in Cincinnati"! My question: What are they celebrating victory for? The debate? The election? The subliminal inference they will win Ohio? I am confused at "Victory" rallies at this stage of the game?!
i just cant get over how people in this blog love Biden. Who looked and acted like old grandpa in early stages of dementia. continuously overtalking and interupting. And the moderator let it go on and on. VPs performance was really nothing to talk about. And the lies just out of this world. Some liberals need to get their head out of the sand and go back to the mountain cabins and take a deep breath.
A gem from A People's History of the United States: 1492 - Present by Howard Zinn:
We've come such a long way. ; )
Joe Biden for Cheshire Cat in Chief.
Vice President Joe Biden did an excellent job in the debate. Now we need the President to do the same or better. I feel the President need to express his views on Voters Rights and the jobs moving to China. Mr. Romney need to explain why Bain allowed China to come into a small company and raise it's flag. This was another "For Pete's Sakes I can't have illegals working for me; I am running for President of the United States" moment. In other words he should have told Bain they can't allow China to raise their flag while taking over the company or take jobs to China. He is suppose to be fighting for Americans to have jobs but for a person who is still getting residuals from a company he no longer runs, he is not doing much to show the American people he is for the American people to get jobs. Exactly what are those people suppose to do now? Join the unemployment line and then blame Obama as usual when in fact he could have saved over 100 jobs. He did not do that and it should show the American people this man does not want to get and save American jobs and will not get the American people back to work.
Isn't Willard the one that said, "I like firing people." Just another "Mitticism" , huh?
No wonder he's such good buddies with King Birther Trump!!!
