Mitt Romney's Bailout Bonanza
I absolutely agree that this story needs to be covered. It's about so much more than just the millions Ann and Mitt Romney made, it's also about their associations with vulture capitalists Paul Singer and others. Listen to Greg Palast being interviewed by Amy Goodman, of Democracy Now, at:

I am appalled that I have not seen any media backlash about Tagg Romney's comment during a radio interview that he wanted to punch out President Obama. I thought it was a federal offense to threaten any harm to our President.
They talked about it all day yesterday.
Wouldn't that statement against the Pres. be almost treasonous?
Under lw, it is considered a felony to threaten the President with any bodily harm. He should be in jail.

Rachel - you should try to get into this before the end of your show if you can.
It's going to prove Obama right in his Lybia response.
You should ask Andrea "boom boom" Mitchel about it.
I am appalled that there has not been any media backlash about Tagg Romney's comment made in a radio interview concerning wanting to punch out the president. I thought it was a federal offense to make any kind of threats toward our president. Please someone address this.
Er, in those poll results where you list "Likely Female Voters"?
I think the less confusing way to put it would be "Female Likely Voters."
The most important reason why Mitt Romney should NEVER be allowed to be President of the USA, is that he is a bully. Anyone, who would attack another person, completely unprovoked and cut his hair, is a bully. Period. It doesn't matter why, or when, or if the person it happened to ever complained. We have to hold the person who becomes commander in chief to a higher standard. No other issue, not the economy, foreign policy, domestic agendas, or religious beliefs are as compelling reasons to not vote for Romney. His bullying demeanor is still evident. Our society has become increasingly aware of the tragedy of bullying, yet we are are within a statistical dead heat of electing a despicable human being to the office of President.
Oh, and wouldn't the Blunt Amendment also apply to somebody with a job sweeping floors for the publishers of The Watchtower (a publication of the Jehovah's Witnesses) who could be denied insurance coverage for anything involving blood transfusions?
Or, more extremely, if the Shakers were still around, could their institurions deny coverage to anything involving maternity, childbirth and children?
I think it is also important to point out that most people PAY premiums for their health insurance . . . if you are paying that premium, and then having to pay for birth control as an additional cost, that is just wrong! this is so much a family economic issue, not just a "women's issue."
The Republicans consistently (further) misrepresent this when they talk (like they did about Sandra Fluke) about women being 'unreasonable' in wanting 'free' contraception.
$9.00...... Price for a month's supply of birth control pills at Target. Of course Fluke would have to find some way of getting to the store which is 3 miles from Georgetown Law University. Of course she would have to do that anyway, I guess unless we have a government employee deliver them to her.
Although Georgetown Law student Sandra Fluke testified to the House Democratic Steering and Policy Committee last month that contraception can cost a law student $3,000 over three years and that some of her fellow students could not afford it, a Target store only 3 miles from the law school currently sells a month's supply of birth control pills for only $9 to people who do not have insurance plans covering contraceptives.

best maddow A block ever!
Rachel, you made an impassioned plea to American women about Romney and the Bount Amendment. But you forgot their husbands.
As a man whose wife took birth control from her college years on, as medicine so she did not loose 3-5 days per month. I have had to deal with insurance companies who would gladly pay for male enhancement drugs, but could not be bothered to consider paying for medicine that would allow my wife to live a normal life.
I did not choose my insurance company, my employer did/does/will. Maybe the next time I will get lucky and get the company that allowed that voice of the ReD-Oh!blicans to doctor shop and get his oxycodone.
I say buy your own Viagra as well. Of course if you have a problem like that, I'd suggest you open a savings account early in life and by the time you need them, you shouldn't have any problems paying for them. It's always good to save for hard times.
Up until Obamacare, no one is forcing you to take that healthcare from your employer. You chose to take it as a means of additional compensation. If you didnt like it, you could have opted out and found your own plan.
just saying...
sixpack, when would my wife have started her savings plan? Puberty, 6 years old, birth? Her mother never had a problem with her periods for her entire life.
stormguy53, With the Affordable Healthcare Act, no one is forcing you to take healthcare from your employer either. You can still opt out and find your own care. As long as companies try to make every profit, which is their right, then healthcare is offered as benefit that allows them to pay reduced salaries.
great show more info on un than iv ever heard great, stop war for oil, go obama
Rachel, I believe the reason we have had no parade for returning vets in New York is simply security. For some odd reason, it appears that the most attractive targets for terrorists associated with Al Qaeda are in New York. If you couple that with a parade honoring soldiers that fought in Iraq and Afghanistan what you get is a recipe for attracting multiple terrorist attacks of opportunity.
Dear Rachel et al,
I know I'm a couple of days behind but I just wanted to congratulate you on the closing segment of the Oct.17 show ("Right-wing Truthers Lead Romney To Debate Disaster"). Absolutely perfect, remarkably powerful TV, beautifully argued -- and the topic is really of immense importance to the well-being of this country. Thanks for all of the hard work you put into this show night after night.
YES! That closing segment [Right-Wing Truthers...] is one of the BEST things I've seen on TV. It was perfect. I've rewatched it. I've shared it far and wide. I've written down parts of it. It was really powerful, truly impactful and I actually got a little emotional - it's tragically not often that we get to see bull@!$%# being cut through so skillfully like that. Thank you, thank you a thousand times over.
Rachel, you looked very pretty tonight.
Rachel et. al.
I would like to see a segment that talks about the current polling and early voting. Maybe Ezra could be called upon to help out on something that I have been wondering about.
My assumption is that when the poll is specifically targeting "Likely voters", they MUST be excluding people who have ALREADY VOTED (early voting participants). Am I wrong in this assumption?
It just seems that as more and more people "vote early" that would be the first question I would ask if I was conducting a poll of "likely voters". Those who already voted no longer fit that demographic.
The conclusion that I arrive at is that IF "early voters" are excluded, and most "early voters" tend to vote for one Party, THEN as we get closer to Election Day, the polls would naturally skew toward the Party who has more voters yet to vote.
Am I completely "out there" on this?
I'd love to hear what the reality is.
Regarding "Romney's Bailout Bonanza," talked about in this blog, take note that one of the other facts exposed in this investigation is Romney's ties/partnerships with Paul Singer, vulture capitalist. His business practices are so bad, England, and other European countries have passed laws banning them. THAT should not be overlooked. That, and HOW the Romneys received the money.

Love your show. But would someone please take the employer being allowed to choose what they do or do not cover based on their beliefs to the next logical point. What about those that do not believe in various medications such as those for mental health, or how about no blood transfusions or that women may only see a female Dr. And what about a D&C for the health of the mother? This is not just a Catholic hospital issue it has massive repercussions. Wake UP!
Also love your show, but your writers missed a great joke with the mail that smells bad(screatch and sniff), should read gives new meaning to the term Junk Mail. Also if we can have romnesia could we have Ryanitis??
"Democratic Party is a philosophy of failure, the creed of ignorance, and the gospel of envy, its inherent virtue is the equal sharing of misery." These are possibly the 5 best sentences you'll ever read: UNFORTUNATELY, MOST VOTERS DON'T KNOW THIS.
#1 you cannot legislate the poor into prosperity, by legislating the wealth out of prosperity.
#2 What one person receives without working for , another person must work for without receiving.
#3 the government cannot give to anybody anything that the government does not first take from somebody else.
#4 you cannot multiply wealth by dividing it.
#5 When half of the people get the idea that they do not have to work because the other half is going to take care of them; and when the other half gets the idea that it does no good to work, because somebody else is going to get what they work for, that is the beginning of the end of any nation.
First of all. Well thought out. . . .however. . . .
Everyone wishes to believe they are totally self-created. So you choose how and when and where you were born ? Really ?? You know how everyone else feels ? And they all hate you ? Truth is, most people are just taking care of their own, best way they know how. We all are just working with what others have told them. We stand on the shoulders of many before us.
I once thought my parents were total idiots and could not change. I knew everything. I was embarrassed to know them. My Grandma laughed at me saying such stuff. And then gave me this gem. Child, as you grow older, your parents will magically grow smarter. No way Grandma ! ! She then just smiled, and ask if I wanted some milk with my cookies.
I once hated speed limits. And the truth is, they should not need to be there in a rationally perfect world. I got a lot of tickets. Then I became a parent. And then speed limits started to make a little more sense to me. . .just saying. . . .
Greetings, Corporate 2012 USA,
It is your cousin from the year 2150, and I finally got my GO-Back-Email service working again. We have a lot to catch up on.
First of all, The Romney-Ryan-Fifty-Years-of-Wars is now just a long gone bad memory. And the latest world wide We-Hate-America-Poll is finally below fifty percent again. Yes, there are still a few white-haired-oldies crying about losing a hundred years of G.E.P.( Gross Earth Profits). Picky, picky, picky. The new NRA Congress just passed a bill called: A Destroyer Tank in Every Driveway. So I will be driving a Bradley to work soon. Yah !! Traffic jams, Ha, ha, ha. Wonder if it still comes with a matching rocket launcher?
More good news !! We are finally totally solar powered !! Our two new Big-Bain artificial solar collector moons are finished and powered up. Boy did that take a lot of math to get right. And the plan to use laser beams to vaporize all the green house gases off the atmosphere mostly worked. Who really cares if the sky is permanently burnt brown anyway ? It matches most of the rest of the Earth now.
We also basically have three suns and no bad-old night time at all. One good point, no one is white anymore !? A few still bitch of no longer being able to see the stars, oh well. And of course, telescope sales are way down. But still better than that dumb idea back in 2090 of moving all our dangerous radioactive stuff onto the old moon and then turning it into a huge remote nuclear reactor. Our Corporate-National-President, Howard Atlas-Rand was right in pointing out we were real luckily to be able to find most of the pieces after it blew up.
Oh, crap! I will have to get back to you. My 3D direct-wired BrainTV just reported that one of the satellites power beams malfunctioned again and cooked Japan this time! Those are some unluckily folks. You know ?
Hope you are doing better ( then ), than we are ( now ). Your cousin FutureBoy de-radiating ( That is how we say signing-off now.)
