Jason Kottke highlights the infographic above (generated here) showing that House Republicans have grown ideologically more extreme versus House Democrats*, with a rightward veer beginning around 1976 (That's the 95th U.S. Congress in the infographic above). If that seems familiar to you it's because the show has referenced the linear version on this page from VoteView.
It reminded me that I recently had to do some digging at the Senate Budget Committee site and you literally can't get past their first page before they split along party lines. They apparently agree on where the building is located and that Kent Conrad is the chairman and beyond that, fuggetaboutit.
*I'm removing this phrase because the ideology ratings are not relative, they're based on something called a DW-NOMINATE scale.

Tonight, Romney will try to pretend that he doesn't have any foreign policy advisors whose name he can recall.
Obama on the other hand needs to point out that it's like Romney loaded up a bus full of them at the White House in 2003 and drove it straight to 2012.
What a totally bogus, misleading title to this blog...
With a title of Never The Twain Shall Meet, it seemed obvious that the posting had to be about Mittens and truth.
Can you imagine a world ten or so years from now in which our young men/women say "I want to grow up to be just like mitt romney,,,, I'll become a mormon,, and I'll disparage President Obama....
What I think is interesting about this is that you could well make a case from a sociological standpoint that part of the polarization we are seeing it simply a resurgence of many of the divisions we have seen from the end of reconstruction up until the voting rights act of '64.
Basically people in "Red States" are scared by a lot of what they are seeing going on in modern American society and are reacting by demanding even more conservative behavior from their representatives. They don't just want to go back to a point in time where they felt "Safe" but even farther back so that even less of the modern world can intrude.
Maybe Romney needs that much more money because he is planning to put the entire country on arrest? On another topic, is it true that Tagg Romney is buying up electronic voting machines in all the key voting states? I have heard they can be hacked by remote control, so a technology expert could figure that out by election time after examining all varieties of voting machines. If it sounds like I don't trust Romney , after all his shenanigans, lies, and researching the Mormon FairyTales, that's right! He's far too crooked and greedy!
Ah, the joys of an echo chamber. You can tell yourselves how wonderful you are, and how terrible everyone else is.
Romney agreed with the President on foreign policy more than he came up with any debate points of his own. I guess that is one way to come up with the best answers if you don't have any of your own....
Romney can have certain similar views on foreign policy, or should he just had come out blazing guns, as the Obama campaign was hoping for, to paint him like a rabid lunatic that would start more wars all over the world, sorry libs!
BTW those that have failed policies, blame former Presidents, like Obama does.
If Monday night's performance by Mitt (dog-on-the-car-roof) Romney is the best the GOP can offer, the Party of H*LL NO is on a slippery slope to OBLIVION.
President Obama clearly won the debate and took Willard to school, to boot.
Why did no one notice that Romeny said that Syria is Iran's route to the sea?
Hey TRMS Staff! Would be totally badass cool if you could get Chrystia Freeland on to talk about her book, Plutocrats: The Rise of the New Global Super-Rich and the Fall of Everyone Else
That would be a wonderful segment! Blow it open!
What I find completely unacceptable is that on the websites for all 15 U.S. Senate Committees, half a dozen or so require that you "pick a side" either Democrat or Republican before you can enter the website to see what the Committee is doing - and then, of course, you only see what the party wants you to see.
How stupid is that?!?!?
Here - see for yourself -
