Jason Kottke highlights the infographic above (generated here) showing that House Republicans have grown ideologically more extreme
versus House Democrats*, with a rightward veer beginning around 1976 (That's the 95th U.S. Congress in the infographic above). If that seems familiar to you it's because the show has referenced the linear version on this page from VoteView.
It reminded me that I recently had to do some digging at the Senate Budget Committee site and you literally can't get past their first page before they split along party lines. They apparently agree on where the building is located and that Kent Conrad is the chairman and beyond that, fuggetaboutit.
*I'm removing this phrase because the ideology ratings are not relative, they're based on something called a DW-NOMINATE scale.
