Mario Avila sends this picture from the first day of early voting in Fernley, Nevada, near Reno, back on Saturday. He says the line inside was just as long, but the whole process took only about 45 minutes. Four days in, almost a fifth of Nevada's active voters had already voted, with about 20,000 more ballots from registered Democrats than from Republicans. (Our sending machine.)

I drive through Fernley regularly. Nice to know they're engaged out there, it's an interesting place.
I just voted in Ohio today. I was amazed at how many people were there.
I think I saw God himself, that's a good sign. And Nell.
AWESOME, thank you Nevada!! Keep 'em coming.
Fernley isn't in a part of the Nevada outback, but it isn't exactly a happening place in Nevada. This is a real treat to see democracy at work; you go Nevadans!
Democracy in action! This is America at its best!!
One of my biggest concerns right now is one getting everyone out to vote. And two, monitoring how the votes are counted. I don't want a repeat of Florida.
IS the Maddow team watching the suspect link between Tagg Team Romney and ownership of the Ohio voting machines? How will this be monitored?
Coverage of how citizens are being denied their vote under GOP states is a big issue for this election.
I live in NE Reno (Sparks area) and early voted on Tuesday at a local supermarket. When I showed up around noon there were only a dozen people in line so it only took us about 15 minutes start to finish. By the time we were done the line had doubled, probably people on work lunch breaks. Plenty of machines, the only slowdown was having but two places to sign in.
I'm in the SouthWest. Going to the pink Scolari's. Thanks for the info.
I just watched President Obama vote. He showed his I.D. -I wanted to claw my eyes out.
I live in Pennsylvania and VotesPA have been running commercials now, blaring "SHOW IT! , SHOW IT!" making it seem as though showing I.D. is required...
The reason the line was so long was because I voted on the very first day we were able to vote early. I arrived 30 minutes after the polls opened and saw the line. I'm sure by now most polling places don't have such a big line, if any but it was good to see so many people voting.
Oregon is one of two states that has ALL MAIL-IN voting. We have been doing it for almost 25 years. Why don't all the States follow Oregon's lead??? It is so simple. Filled out my ballot yesterday watching TRM show at my dinner table. No lines here. Total cost = first class stamp. Dropped off at the PO this morning. Could have just walked down the street and put in our outgoing mail slot.
