Oh, you thought you were too far away from your home state to bother with an absentee ballot? Kathleen writes us from the Amundsen-Scott South Pole Station:
Even at the South Pole we're getting out the vote! The 50 people stationed at Amundsen-Scott South Pole Station for the winter had to use absentee voting, since most of us will still be here come Nov. 6. Our ballots flew out with the first plane we've had since last Feb.

NO EXCUSES! Go Vote!!!
Antarctica: the next swing state?
Here's a solution to electronic voting machine fraud.
Print a blue ticket for Obama and a Red ticket for Romney when done.
Have voter insert ticket with # and signature in blue or red box.
At 1 gram per ticket, put them in a scale and weigh them.
1000 grams = 1000 tickets.
Biggest pile wins!
ZERO counting.
Compare against voting machine total.
With this system programmers cannot change the outcome.
All we need is a scale and compare numbers in a flash.
The problem with today's recounts is the counting.
Too much room for human error.
A scale can count 100K votes in a flash.
This can be done RIGHT NOW.
Just go get those tickets.
Or even a marked pennie (3 grams each).
Weigh them if needed.
Except you wouldn't eliminate the need for human verification because rest assure, if there is deliberate tampering with voting machines, there would be deliberate tampering with the scales or the weight of the paper or whatever could be tampered.
Nice outside the box (or inside the box, if you will) thinking.
I wonder if there was any voter suppression or voter ID laws down there...
Life is possibly a little less miserable in the U.S. than in Antarctica. But it IS still miserable here.
VOTE ROMNEY.
You're kidding, right? Cause the Teaparty/Taliban are scared to death of knowledge. They'll get around to cutting the funding for Antarctica toot sweet.
Let's be honest, you'd be miserable no matter who was running things. I can guarantee, if Mittless gets elected, you'll find out the real meaning of miserable! Do you really think Romney gives a flying 'F' about you and the rest of your sheep clan. Yea, go ahead and vote for the idiot. He'll be ever so grateful!
You really think that pissing on Mitt Romney's efforts to be helpful to the Red Cross makes you smart? Get over yourself.
His noble efforts assisting the Red Cross while facing untold storm dangers out there in Ohio is sooo appreciated, especially by all those same folks under threat in Toledo, not to mention all those poor souls on the East Coast who just can't wait for those canned goods to arrive! Now, let's see where did I put that damn can opener? Wait, perhaps it's there in my submerged kitchen utensil drawer? Get real, dumb ass. What a dufus!
jt, Romney was a governor! He has been living in America for how long? He has been around for all kinds of disasters - and he is such a smart guy? How come he doesn't know that the Red Cross and all other relief organizations don't want "stuff." They need money. They and the federal government work in tandem to get what people need where they need it.
So I am smart, and here are some simple reasons I wouldn't vote for Mitt (aside from his lying, his positions, his posturing, and his party). 1. While being a millionaire, he put the dog on the roof instead of buying a van. 2. He didn't have the basic courtesy to say "thank you" for a plate of cookies (regardless of where they came from). 3. He couldn't just say, "ya know, putting together the Olympics is a big job, and it looks like they are pulling it together." 4. He made such a big deal about not showing us his taxes (like what's the big deal, eh?). 5. He picked Paul Ryan. He does not show good judgment or character.
Romney wasn't trying to be helpful to the Red Cross, he was trying to look like he was being helpful. You want to see leadership. Look to the President. He is not perfect, and I don't always agree with him (I would be suspicious if I did), but he is consistent in his basic character, you generally know what to expect, and he has worked unceasingly in his effort to do the right thing, while being insulted every step of the way. He has been called on his birth, his race, his religion, education (even by some total lowlifes, his sexual behavior), everything he has said or done has been criticized by Cons. You talk just like many of your party, no content - just insults.
Anyway, the point is absentee voting from the South Pole, which is awesome!
To dem and glad. What makes you so smart? Because your opinion is different from 1/2 of the rest of the country? Dems always want to represent themselves as being so much smarter than everyone else. Anyone that differs in opinions is stupid. Sorry that you are so bigotted. I am in the 1/2 that can't see anything good about the last 4 years. Deeper debt. Record numbers of people on foodstamps and on welfare. The backing of many companies that have failed and were already failing before we put billions in them. Instead of putting stimulus money in failing companies, he should have spent the money on roads and bridges and power grids etc. Something everyone could benefit from. Instead he chose to put money in companies that were failing, many of whom were headed by big campaign contributors. No matter what he inherited, he hasn't done a blasted thing to make it better. He also doesn't know how to deal with debt, our biggest problem. Because 1/2 of the people don't agree with you, it doesn't make them less smart.
jes, when I mentioned I was "smart" it was in reference to jt's comment about pissing on Romney. I didn't say I was smarter than anyone else, nor was it a comparative statement. Nor did I call anyone stupid. Just because I disagree with you does not make me bigoted - nor are dems the ones who are suppressing the vote, race baiting, forcing our religions on others, condemning the religions of others, or attacking the intelligence of women to control their own health care. If you can't see ANYTHING good about the last 4 years, maybe you have a problem. No prez is perfect, but none is totally imperfect either. We have deeper debt because a previous president, based on the lies of his staff (many of whom are now working for Romney) got us into an unpaid for war. Many people on food stamps are working for low wages thanks to Reagan who, after firing the air traffic controllers, changed work conditions for millions. Many on food stamps lost their jobs because of the financial meltdown or the sending of jobs to China (something Romney showed business how to do). We don't have welfare anymore thanks to Democrat Bill Clinton. Most of the companies that the gov invested in are doing quite well, compared to those Bain invested in. (I have the stats, I'll have to find them, but you can do your own search - if you really care for the truth). We tried to pass Jobs Bills, Transportation Bills, and Infrastructure Bills, but your pals vetoed almost all of them by filibustering. The prez has been talking about infrastructure spending for 5 years. Two of the companies Romney just spoke in front of received stimulus money and are doing quite well. You are on the Maddow blog - don't you actually watch the show or others not connected to only the right wing. You really don't want to talk about campaign contributions, do you? When you got Trump, Rove, Addelson, etc. You can't be that foolish or uninformed, can you? He hasn't done a blasted thing to make anything better??? Where have you been? And you think Romney is going to be good with debt when he wants to lower taxes - especially for his cohorts, raise defense spending, etc. No credible economist has agreed with his position. Furthermore, we know what austerity will do if services are removed for a significant portion of Americans. Just look at Europe. Romney has repeatedly lied and/or misled Americans. We know you don't want fact-checking to interfere with your message, but if you think your arguments were well-founded, well-researched. and non-bigoted, maybe, just maybe you are not so smart, after all.
We also sent out our vote for Obama from China!
Also, the comments about voter fraud and ballot tampering sounds a great deal like fans at a sporting event. The other team could never win without having sorry refs that call everything the other team's way. Just like sports fans whine, the dems are already whining before we have even had the election. Setting up excuses for the possibility of a Romney win. I hate to hear the vile comments from the left if Romney manages to pull it off. How many months will we have to hear "FOUL" if that happens? Until the next election?
