After New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie (R) offered glowing praise of President Obama this week, many on the right were livid. Rush Limbaugh, demonstrating his own unique brand of class, told his followers, "He's fat and a fool. Don't listen to Governor Christie."
But Fox News' Rupert Murdoch is going quite a bit further, giving the New Jersey governor marching orders. The conservative media mogul said on Twitter that Christie must "re-declare" his support for Mitt Romney, or the governor will be take the "blame" for President Obama's re-election.

This morning, Murdoch's New York Post pushed a similar line, arguing that it's incumbent on Christie to "reassure his party -- and not just his party -- that he hasn't turned coat." The Post, with a striking lack of subtlety, insisted that the New Jersey governor "make clear his belief that the incumbent's vigorous response to the disaster would have been more than matched by Mitt Romney had he been president."
No word yet this morning as to whether Christie is inclined to follow Murdoch's instructions.

Another attempt by the Right Wings Masters at fostering cooperation?

Chris Christie has already made it clear who he thinks is the better leader. Whenever Republicans are put in a situation where they actually work with the Pres. Obama they get a chance to see he's an honest, hard-working, intelligent, determined, bipartisan and caring leader.
"Pres. Obama (is a) honest, hard-working, intelligent, determined, bipartisan and caring leader."
People try destroying that which they don't understand.

looking for the congressional research report, where is it?
reeblite: In case you still haven't found it, Will Femia, of the Maddow Blog, posted a link to it earlier. For your convenience, I'll repost it here:

Mooch the Vote 2012!
;-)
When the "Titans" of industry think they can tell elected official what to think and do...that's called fascism.
Romney trying to "bully" Christie? Wonder how THAT will work out for him.....
I can just see Romney calling Murdoch and whining to him about that mean old Christie.....
I think Romney the bully, who needs a pack of bullies to intimidate, has met his match.
Chris Christie should switch to the Democratic Party. Do an Arlen Specter like switch.
What his new role in the Party would be is speculative. Possibilities: Remain as New Jersey Gov. (D), 2016, running mate candidate option for Hillary & Bill, run for US Senate (D), if Frank Lautenberg decides to retire.
At any rate he needs to work on achieving a healthy weight for the stresses involved with all of the above possibilities.
Chris Christie is "declaring" for all of the New Jersey victims of Superstorm Sandy. He is doing his elected job, admirably.
Murdoch should go back to Australia, but they don't want him either. England doesn't want him anymore and Canada won't let him get his foot in the door. Why are these countries so much smarter than we are?
Oh yeah. They don't have teapubs screwing up their country to win at all costs.
It's waaaay to bad that British Army patrol found the near-dead aviator in his airplane after a crash in Mesopotamia. Had they been a day later getting to the location, which would have been possible since they only stumbled on it, they'd have found the aviator dead and Rupert Murdoch wouldn't have had a father.
Don't be too quick to laud Canada: The Reformatories let convicted criminal Lord Black back into the country, even though he is no longer a Canadian citizen.
(He renounced it so that he could accept the title without needing it to be cleared with the Canadian government.)
Personally, I can't stand the man, but Christie's no fool.
He's old enough to have seen how poorly FEMA has responded when Republicans like Bush I "The Not Insane and Stupid One," and his son, W "Nero, Without the Toga or Debauchery - But Maybe WITH the Booze," were in charge.
Under Clinton, and now Obama, FEMA is a functional and helpful agency - NOT a governmental wasteland and dumping ground for inept cronies who can't hold their jobs as lawyers for Arabian horsies.
Sorry, Rupe and Rog, you'll need another hero. This former one doesn't want to bite the Federal hand that's going to be feeding his state until it can be rebuilt - to the extent that it CAN be rebuilt.
I know - have Rush run for office! Maybe in certain parts of the South, they want dogcatchers who pop V*agra like Tic Tac's. Of course, if there are a lot of fat, rabid dogs in that town after awhile, that may not be such a good idea.
Christie is a Republican leader. Praise and endorsement do not march in lockstep. He can praise a candidate short-term, while still endorsing his opponent long-term. Bloomberg's endorsement of Obama came with quite a bit of criticism.
It should be interesting. Christie might do his duty as a Republican (and GOP convention keynote), or he might double down and give Murdoch "the finger".
Has anyone considered the significance of the tweet's opening "Thanks Bloomberg right decision"?
nothing more than the marathon cancellation...he wasn't talking about the Obama endorsement, but...maybe it could be spun that way
Murdoch practices ethics in the most unique and criminal ways . The arch journalist from Australia has denied any malice in hacking a dead teenager girls telephone , blocking both police and family efforts to determine if she was alive .
Mr. Murdoch can look into his magic mirror and hear the words he wants to hear , but he may have difficulty in posing as an ethical leader .
Gov. Christy is not a man to be threatened! And right no Gov Christy has more important things on his mind than Romney or Romneys widdle feelings~~just goes to show Romney could care less all he is worried about is winning to hell with New Jersy and ny~~~God Bless u Gov Christy for being the man u are for standing tall for all ur people they will not forget u hen the time comes for u to run for pres.
Re-assure the group of ravenous, self-serving morons that you don't indeed know how to govern for the people Mr. Christie! Why do I have an uneasy feeling that doing thus won't be difficult for you?
I consider myself a very progressive Dem, but I would welcome Christie with open arms if he wants to switch parties. He wouldn't be the first GOP governor to switch sides, a certain former Gov from FL comes to mind. What they find out is that you can't govern and be rabidly anti-government at the same time AND that Obama isn't all the wild and crazy things the teabaggers claim him to be when you actually work with him.
Do you think Christie can go back to talk about Obama's lack of leadership after this? It wouldn't just be hysterical given Obama's response to the Sandy catastrophe, but also his own response. The best way out for him is to continue just like now: saying he's busy handling the onslaught to care about candidates. It's just two more days so, not that hard.
If the GOP elite were truly concerned about Chris Christie, they would have vetted his Key Note Speech at the GOP Convention.
But they didn't, and it was a hilarious 20 minutes all about Chris Christie... oh, and by the way, Mitt Romney is your candidate.
LOL
This is what Murdock means by "Fair and Balanced."
"Fairly Unbalanced" is more like it.
.
Isn't the fact that Mr. Murdoch put this demand out there for the public to see mean that he has no control over Mr. Christy? Beware of he who leaks info to the media (in this case to himself....hope he isn't soiled too much!)... Maybe he has no real control....and that makes him want sympathy from supporters and have an 'appearance' of power!
Sorry! My corrections didn't go through...
It should be "that makes him want sympathy from his supporters and have the "appearance" of power."
Christie's too fat to be a puppet, much too hard to move around.
Rush: "He's fat and a fool."
He must not check his look in the mirror very often.
Sorry Rupert, Christie is too busy doing his job. Guess you missed him saying he doesn't give a damn about presidential politics at the moment.
Besides isn't it easier for your fake news cash cow to incite outrage with a democrat in the White House?
This whole thing about "the governor will be take the "blame" for President Obama's re-election."
LMAO!!! Taking the blame ....
The Republicans losing two Presidential races in a row couldn't possibly have anything to do with the Republicans running candidates sane people want nothing to do with.
Last time the Republicans wanted to pass us around like the Neighborhood Girl who everyone gets a turn on, and it was McCains turn .... But then Johnny picked Palin and Good God, do they think we're that insane to want to allow that thing in Washington? In any capacity?
Now they're running Mendacity Mitt and Ayn Ryan and ... Seriously? Thats the best they have to offer? Really?
Instead of the Republican Party taking responsibility for their poor choices* their looking for someone to blame, and Gov. Christy just happens to be handy.
(*Isn't taking responsibility for ones poor decisions a Right Wing Talking point? Use to be one would have to look for and work at pointing out Irony, but any more this Republican Party living and breathing Irony is taking the fun out of it.)
.
Hey Rupert, howzit in Manhattan, upper east married to a troglodyte communist enabler?
I believe Mr. Christie already spake, and you will neither elicit or incite him to further comment.
Anyone who asks him to be on live TV, will suffer his wrath at their own risk, banality isn't on Chris Christie's mind right now and he's in it for 2016, the groundwork is laid and he will not re-pour that concrete, like it or not.
Bu
Mitt Romney could've made it tons easier for Christie to be able to make a nod in his direction if he'd done anything that actually translated into even the appearance of having a real desire to deliver the same sort of response as Obama in his efforts to manage things following Hurricane Sandy. Instead Mitt Romney's obviously implied along the way that he'd be for FEMA's elimination (or distributions, or privatization), then ignored reporters' questions the day of his 'relief rally' (or whatever they called it), and then didn't manage to release even a statement until sometime after that day to say he would maintain FEMA (sorry can't remember how long that took - or if it was a quote from Mitt or just the campaign speaking on his behalf). Seriously, how does anything Mitt has offered suggest he could have handled the situation equally as well? And yet Christie's expected to say so? Hmmmmm. Another very interesting take on what's 'right' (and/or perhaps just Republican Right) from the Republican side.
And I also give Gov Christie just tons of credit for putting people first and for letting go of anything ego related to an extent that he has been stating his experiences surrounding Sandy truthfully and without inserting anything he doesn't now feel or believe into the campaign since Sandy. I'd say, at this point, it doesn't look like the segment of the Republican Party that's just about advancing the Republican Party despite the costs to the public deserve to call him one of their own anymore... though if he wants to stay with them and try to make them all a better party, I'd honor and respect that, too (just so long as he keeps doing his bipartisan best for everyone!). (Thank you for your recent contributions, Governor Christie!!!! And best wishes to him and to everyone still trying to come through Sandy...)
Rupert king of the 'roo. Go back to your outback you creep.
I look forward to the day when all this mean and nasty dialogue is seen as "trendy" or "vogue" or whatever the term du jour.
They think making money by insulting everyone that disagrees with them is also a winning political strategy- pure propaganda. I hate it.
Does anyone think that Gov. Christie may actually have the wherewithall to put aside partisan politics after this horrific tragedy that has struck his state ? What I mean by that is this :
Do you think he might, late at night , think about the possibilities that would lie ahead for him, if he were to be seen as a Governor who truly stood for wanting what is best for his constituents , even if that meant standing against his own party ? Do you think he cares for New Jersey and its people that much ? Would he be willing to drop all hateful rhetoric , and be the one to try and move the Republican party BACK into a more moderate position ?
He seems to be boisterous enough, he seems to have been affected by this storm enough, and he seems to have been dealt a blow to the new age tantrum rants of the Tea Party - federal govt. = bad.
Could he be the one to get politics back to a more sane era ?
** On a lighter note ** I saw this post from another site and I laughed for about half an hour :
But MITT !! What about my imported tea set from China that I was going to serve finger sandwiches with at your inauguration ? That buffalo is ruining everything !!! "
Would be great to see Christie/Bloomberg act as the schism to break the republican party from the rove/fox/koch deathgrip currently choking the life out of the two party system
