Today's edition of quick hits:
* Syria: "An Islamist suicide car bomber killed at least 50 Syrian security men on Monday, an opposition group said, in one of the bloodiest single attacks on President Bashar Assad's forces. It came a day after Syrian government forces killed 179 people, said the Syrian Network for Human Rights, an activist monitoring group."
* Rachel spoke with MSNBC's Andrea Mitchell this afternoon about a variety election-related developments, most notably the early-voting fiascos throughout Florida.
* It came as something of a surprise to see the Financial Times endorse President Obama.
* It was also surprising that the Romney campaign allowed Florida Gov. Rick Scott (R) to appear on stage at a campaign rally this morning.
* I'm glad Obama wrote back to 10-year-old Sophia Bailey Klugh, who has two dads and agrees with the president about marriage equality.
* Speaking of the president doing nice things, it was awfully kind of the president to put Bruce Springsteen on the phone after a conversation with New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie (R).
* In retrospect, Rep. Michele Bachmann (R-Minn.) still thinks her widely-condemned, anti-Muslim witch hunt was a good idea.
* Jonathan Cohn's argument that 2012 is "the most important election of our lives" is very persuasive.
* Tom Edsall stresses a point I've argued many times: "If Romney wins Ohio, every campaign in future elections is going to give much more serious consideration to lying and to open defiance of media rebuttals as a legitimate campaign expedient." If Americans reward mendacity, they'll get more of it.
* And the Tweet of the Day award clearly goes to Newark Mayor Cory Booker (D).
Anything to add? Consider this an open thread.

Hey hey!! Bipartisanship rules!!
The Boss and the boss of NJ get together by way of the boss in chief and the business magazine community backs the boss in chief!
Although I want the President to get re-elected, a side reward would be if Joe Walsh, Steve King, Allen West and Michelle Bachmann all were defeated.
You forgot Paul Ryan. I'm in WI but not in his district. Go Rob Zerban.
AND Eric Cantor!
I would be very elated to never have to see these people standing in the public offices and spouting their particular versions of b.s. EVER again.
That smug arrogant face and voice of Cantor being put back to the private sector would be very rewarding. The rest of them are kooky, they have no business voting on the future of our country.
California FPPC determines late game transfer of funds ( 11 Million ) into a California based PAC from an Arizona Super PAC, is illegal money laundering, traces back to Koch Brothers Super Pac. Any surprises here? Prosecution & full audits expected post-election day -
Ending a mystery that captivated the run-up to Election Day, the Arizona group
behind an anonymous $11 million donation revealed under court order today that
the shadowy donation was laundered through two groups, including one tied to
David and Charles Koch, the billionaire brothers who have played a huge role in
spreading anonymous political cash around the country.

Ok so now the big question Can anyone (hopefully) go to jail over this
Are you serious Dragoon?
On "the most important election" (and which one wasn't said to be the most important?): A point that the better-off haven't considered is the impact of our intense class war. The middle class declared an embargo, so to speak, against the post-middle class/poor, and it has taken a heavy toll (increased infant mortality, falling life expectancy). Today, we have this growing Third World nation right in our midst, and the middle class & rich try to ignore it. The middle class recently expressed its absolute outrage over a rumor that President Obama might allow a few crumbs to trickle down to the poor. That's... well, sickening. The Democratic Party and media has worked hard to alienate those millions of post-middle class people who voted for Barack Obama in 2008. Could be, that's why this election is so agonizing close.
If Americans reward mendacity, they'll get more of it.
Comment of the day.
Be sure and go vote as a True American tomorrow.
May the better Man Mitt win...then Obama can take his horrible decisions and LEAVE!
About the "boss", now he's just Obamas "secretary".
Ronnie I lie too Reagan called he said you are just another fake plumber and like most Mitt wits, you will be dining on sour grapes Wednesday.
At whomitmaynot- Let's see... Out of 100 Republicans, 100 will vote for Romney. Out of 100 Democrats, maybe 60 will vote for Obama again. It's not difficult to guess whomitmaybe the remaining 40 dems will be voting for! Yes, I will be enjoying grapes in the form of wine on Wednesday, and probably Thursday, Friday, and Saturday too. Your comment will make for good conversation though while celebrating. Don't get too excited with the early Obama voting numbers tomorrow, because as Tim Tebow predicted "Obama will have an early lead...until the Republicans get off work!"
I'll make you a deal; If I'm right, you delete your newsvine account and disappear from this forum. If you're right, I will.
Why don't you just leave this blog because really who wants to read badly repeated right wing bull@!$%# made up in delusional minds instead of going to Fox news and getting it first hand from the people you get it from. After all it is you righties who come onto left leaning blogs trying to pretend you have an opinion that wasn't presented by Fox news and you fail every time. Sorry but as we can see you are lying again as republicans do not vote 100% for republicans and you just made the number up in your own delusional mind.
ROTFLMAO Right now and tomorrow night.
What you going to turn into a crybaby at midnight? That is about the only thing I see happening as I know to many republicans who are either sitting this one out or they are voting for anyone other then robme hood.
RACHAEL PLS REPORT THIS!!!!!

Votes from family in OHIO are being switched to romney when they vote for OBAMA in COLUMBUS, OHIO.
I've heard some folks saying that Mitt has been exhibiting signs of forgetfulness and that could be a real medical issue such as Alzheimer's disease.
That means Mitt steps down and "the lyin' king" becomes president.
I wouldn't be surprised if it is planned to happen--just to get less pliable Mitt out of the way and put in the more radical friendly lad.
I assure you, the Evangelical right may vote for Romney - but they do not want a Mormon as president - actually they don't want a Catholic either.
So, the Financial Times, the Economist... The National Journal's endorsement is not a very good value. Nor that of Newsmax.
I wrote here after the hurricane that Christie had an ulterior motive for bieng so nice to President Obama. He finally got to talk to his favorite singer "The Boss". Aha turns out I was right. Oop's I do'nt mean I'm "right" I'm left but I was right. Not serious just being a little light hearted.
Thank you Rachel and everyone else at MSNBC, for shining a massive flood light on voter suppression, because this issue has to stay in the light until it is completely fixed. Mainstream media’s lack of significant coverage regarding voter suppression is because this is one issue they can’t equalize and because there's no way they can cover this issue without the facts clearly demonstrating one side is right for our democracy and one side is wrong. These should be reasons to thoroughly cover this issue, not reasons not to. For everybody who says both sides do it, there are no Democrats who want or are working to suppress the vote. Here are the undeniable facts. All of these clear distinctions are going to drive us to show up at the voting polls in force, so if the media never covers it or governments don't change it, our turnout will make it clear, attempts to suppress the vote, will only increase the vote.
Republicans reduce early voting, Democrats expand early voting. Republicans are rushing to implement voter ID laws, Democrats want to take the time to make sure if you can't afford an ID, a free one is provided for you and that everyone who is eligible to vote have the time to get an ID, so they can vote. Thousands of Republican volunteers are showing up to challenge voters, thousands of Democrats are showing up to protect voters. Republicans think you should have to register to vote, Democrats think you should automatically be registered to vote when you turn 18. Republicans often send out voting information with inaccurate voting dates that are usually after the voting day, Democrats send out voting information with an accurate voting date. Republicans want partisan officials to oversee elections, Democrats want independent officials to oversee elections. Republicans restrict the hours at polling places where Democrats vote, Democrats increase the hours at every polling station. Republicans want to make it harder for you to fill out a ballot, Democrats want to make it easier. Republicans reduce the number of polling places, Democrats increase the number of polling places. Republicans want voting machines that don't have a paper trail, Democrats want voting machines that are guaranteed to carry your vote. I'm sure this isn't all of them, but I think you get the point. Despite all of this, the only thing that matters right now, is pushing back all of this by voting.
Rachel looks like she has major fatigue! I hope she takes Wednesday off ... unless R delaying tactics work and this drags on. Can somebody get her a cot for her office and some knock-out drops? Lady needs a nap before tomorrow.
Indeed! I noticed the fatigue around her eyes in her segment with Andrea Mitchell. Dear Rachel, please take good care of yourself, and mega-thanks for your work on all our behalf.
Here is a copy of the voting rights act of 1965:
http://government-programs.laws.com/voting/right-to-vote/voting-rights-act
Read it and tell me what is happening in America in 2012 is legal, not to mention moral.
Looks like many in the financial community are realizing they will lose every dime of their Romney tax cuts if his economic plan is put in the place and we plunge ourselves back into another recession or worse. Too bad it's so late, but I guess this is par for the course when it comes to being too late to stop financial crises. Fortunately, there are enough of us who know what's best for this country to reelect Pres. Obama even without their endorsements. And every one of us will take this last week's endorsements by The Economist and The Financial Times and continue to spread the message of who is best for the economy all the way through Election Day. Nice of you guys to join the fight.
At this point I don't think it matters which party controls the White House and/or Congress - it is time to pay the piper. Even with the "fiscal cliff" that is looming in the next 60 days, whether they come to a compromise or not, most taxes will HAVE to go up and most government programs will HAVE to cut their spending. All the posturing and promises by both parties is just that...posturing and promising. It don't mean squat. Either our money will become worthless or govt spending will decrease and taxes will go up. Either way, the economy and our way of life will take a hit. And I am tired of all the thoretical talk about "necessary deficit spending" and the "the debt will be retired later when the economy improves". Really? We are not talking about a few hundred Billion we owe - or even a thousand Billion. We owe 16 thousand Billion. The amount is unfathomable, yet we all just brush it aside.
Another true believer full of misinformation, gee how surprising he still believes its a spending problem even after all the reports show him that the problem is GOP created trickle down nonsense.
At whomitmaynot- Why is it that you never have any intelligent remarks to add to newsvine topic discussions? All I ever notice is your hateful replies and insults to other member posts.
Ah projecting yourself onto others is all you seem to do, after all you are the one who posts Fox news lies here not me and nothing you posted has even remotely been close to intelligent and you insult us by posting stupid right wing nonsense. You are not a victim, you choose to come on these left leaning sites to distract from topics so you reap what you sow.
No, after tomorrow I won't be a victim anymore. I come onto this site to educate those that are confused like you, and sometimes it works. And then, sometimes it just brings out even more of the same from those not willing to be taught.
Don't hate...Appreciate!
BOL sorry but I don't need a education from a guy who sat in a corner with a traffic cone hat on with the word DUNCE running down the front of it.
Rewarding the rapacious, who lie for the loot, piss on the poor, marginalize the moderate, f--k with females, hate on Hispanics, vote against veterans, and buttkiss the billionaires, is crapping in your own corn flakes. Wake the f%(*& up!!
Please, don't hold back, tell us how you Really feel,, :>)
P.S. I am right there with you,,,
If Michele Bachmann were any more nutty she would be a box of breakfast cereal
If MB was more nuttier she would need security to protect her from the tree rats.
Michelle Bachmann professes to pray
And ask for God's guidance each day;
If she spends so much time
In the Presence Sublime,
Why'd she marry a guy who's so Gay?
To Swiss citizenship, The Bachmanns aspire,
Michelle did what the Swiss would require...
It may be a blunder ,
I find myself wonder,
I'd expect the Swiss standards to be higher...
Michelle B. thinks she knows Economics
And rejects what she views as Obamics.
It is this density
That lends such levity
To the way that she's laughed at by comics.
beautiful man!!
LOL Joe from Morning Joe, when voter suppression is brought up and it's his party, what does he do.... "Benghazi, Benghazi, Benghazi"
http://www.rawstory.com/rs/2012/11/05/scarborough-repeatedly-shouts-benghazi-to-block-voter-suppression-talk/
I watched some of that this morning - Scarborough hit a new low!!
BTW in HuffPo: Another Republican talking about his party:
http://www.huffingtonpost.com/george-t-haley/election-2012_b_2028076.html
We are watching the end of a campaign. Mitt Romney is losing in the major last polls and is behind with the last voters that have yet to make up their minds. Romney is losing, and it is singularly apparent upon listening o the deluded rants of his campaign staff. Polls are not wrong when they are show by the dozens that Obama is in front by small but significant margin. This is not a "toss-up." The presidential the favorite. Mitt is toast. - progressive
Change the tv channel if you want the "real" poll results! If not, you're gonna be shocked tomorrow night.
Another words become delusional by watching Fox.
Getn under your skin huh? Funny!
No all I see is a little child throwing a temper tantrum because no one takes his word as anything more then malarkey. I mean really what can't you righties grasp if we wanted to hear childish nonsense we would be on Fox news not MSNBC.
At whohateMitt- Soooo, Put your small opinions where your large mouth is, and commit to my deal I offered on post #6.2.
You can't, I know, because without this forum...you're only 4'-8", nerdy, and your momma dresses you funny!
I'm sorry but again you are trying to be witty yet you even fail at that. At least they are my opinions and not opinions of others that I took from Fox news and pretend they are mine.
At whomeverIchoosetolose... Thank the lord that they're only your opinions and not the opinions of most Proud Americans.
If you're really wanting a Socialist country, you can always go to the UK.
The UK hasn't been "socialist" in a meaning of the word since the early 1980s, but then I wouldn't expect a cut-n-paster such as yourself to actually, you know, know the facts!
Can't we get some better quality trolls? Or did I just type an oxymoron?
Wow! doug...- You're suffering from a severe case of empty skullietes. Actually, I believe you and whomi... must be buds locked together up to your ears in the rectal/cranial interlock position.
Enjoy the rest of your miserables lives.
Don't watch Morning Joe anymore. He signed Grover Norquists Pledge as a Congressmen. The whole group on Morning Joe is in the tank for Romney.
COOL!
Not so sure about Mika... Of them all, she's the only one with intelligence... She sometimes calls them on their BS, but the others ignore her, because she's 'not one of the guys'... It's not her show, so she has to put up with them...
No matter how much you try to defend it, Obama's record for the last 4 years and the Democratic controlled senate for 6 years is enough to kick them all out. Stop with the Stockholm Syndrome. Stop with the self-hating American attitude.
I don't think Stockholm Syndrome means what you think it means if you're assuming it's anything associated with self-hating.
But what is a "self-hating American" attitude? Honestly? So people disagree with you so they therefore must hate themselves or they must therefore hate America?
Again it's an attitude problem.
Shelly,
You on dope? Cause your mind is really mangled! Stockholm Syndrome?
Self-hating?
Shelly. Get some facts. The Dems had congress for 4 days. Don't forget Kennady was ill and not there. And Obama has accomplished more without the help of congress in 4 years than GWB did in 8.
I find it truly unbelievable that the likes of a bald faced liar like Mitt Romney has come this far, the only reason that I can discern that he is here, is the hate for our current president.
I know many Republicans that feel the same way, our Government is failing and Mitt Romney and Paul Rand will complete the process, total power is what the .01% is striving for and these two will get them that much closer. The Billionaires Will expect a return on their investment.
No Tax Records,, No Business Records,, How About Religion,, No? How About Your Massachusetts Accomplishments, Oh,, No Records Left?
Olympic Records,, Not To Be Found,
"I'm Not Going To Tell You, I Would Lose The Election" And he is tied with the President,,, Really,,, WTF???
Where's the reporting on the uncertified software installed on the private official vote tabulators just days ago in populous Ohio counties? It's close there- and stealable, AGAIN!
"Is the GOP Stealing Ohio? Why Was Uncertified 'Experimental' Software Installed on ES&S Tabulation Systems in 39 OH Counties Just Days Before Presidential Election?"
http://www.salon.com/2012/11/05/ohio_republicans_sneak_risky_software_onto_voting_machines/
Exactly! Some of people on tumblr are voting for Obama but it says romney!!!!! Rachel please post this.
Which counties?
Just read this Apparentley tomorrow at 9am A Federal Judge will decide on this issue, A suit was filed by BOB FITRAKIS from the Green Party,He filed the suit against SOS Husted.
Thank you Rachel for all the great shows and following closely the voter suppression issue. It's been an eye-opener.
As for Michele Bachman, I wish I could vote against her, but I am not in her district. I am hoping my fellow Minnesotans have gotten the message on this nut case.
Thank you Rachel for the great shows on this election especially voter suppression, the antics of right wing anti-abortionists, and others.
As for Michele Bachman, I hope my fellow MN citizens in her district will have finally gotten the message and vote her out.
Go Obama!
To paraphrase Gene Hackman in the original Superman movie:
Barack Obama (to Rush Limbaugh) "Do you know why the number 300 is so vitally descriptive between you and me? It's your weight and its my electoral vote"
