Tonight's guests:
- Dan Rather, host and managing editor of “Dan Rather Reports” on AXS TV
- Frank Rich, writer-at-large for New York Magazine
And here's executive producer Bill Wolff with what's to come:
UPDATE: Ok, now try it with musical accompaniment...

Could you please put the microphone closer to Bill.
It is very hard to hear him.
The person doing the filming is always loud and clear.
I bought
speakers just to hear these segments but when I am not at home it is impossible to hear these segments.
Thanks
I use a 7.1 system , and so The Wolff Report comes in fine on my old PC. I have a different problem with Mr. Wolff & Co. To darn happy ! To full of life! not right. .just saying. .
Romney taught his sons to lie. He said himself, ".....if sons say something often enough it will be believed" Really???? We didn't raise our children to think that way. They knew better. They know right from wrong. Think about it . . . . . . . Character, values, Romney's sons had to LEARN that way of thinking from someone in that family. . . . . .
hello from the west side of the gorge, Troutdale.
Hello from the mid Willamette Valley
Rachel Maddow and the whole MSNBC FAMILY are absolutely wonderful AMERICANS. It is the last night before one of most important elections of my lifetime. I hope all Americans appreciate the value of their vote. WOMEN OF AMERICA VOTE FOR PRESIDENT BARACK OBAMA for ourselves, our children and future generations to come. Thanks again, RACHAEL for your commitment to this election and its FORWARD NARRATIVE.......VOTE DEMOCRATIC VOTE FOR PRESIDENT BARACK OBAMA!!!!!!
Susan, I agree with you 100% Thank you for writing it up so beautifully.
I agree
America...vote for unemployment.....vote for 20 trillion in debt.....vote so your great grandchildren will be busboys at Beijing Billy's China owned restaurant.
It is kind of sad it is coming to an end, but I hope MSNBC make a more concrete expression- like generous paid vacations.
Dana Milbank had a surprising observation today on the Rev Al's show. He pointed out that if the economy surges back as many expect, then the party in control of the White House will likely stay in power. Meaning that the impact on the Supreme Court is not limited to those in the next 4 years, but the next eight. I assumed that it whoever the Dem was after Obama would have a hard time due the pendulum affect, but Milbank has a good point.
Assuming the economy surges back, the public will be loath to hand the reigns back to the opposing party. So in the likely event Obama is re-elected, then if Hilary runs she would be playing on a favorable field, not unfavorable as I had assumed. This shift in the court will have a profound impact for the coming decades.
So there is good reason for optimism even if Pelosi is not swept back into power along with the President.
My prayers and best wishes are with the Dem House candidates tomorrow.
.. Stooge.
I'm sorry, I disagree. To spend the last night before an important election campaigning for one of the candidates because she felt that he did not present his case as well as he should have is disgraceful. I am not a Romney supporter but I am a supporter of the media presenting the information that all Americans need to make a decision in an unbiased manner. It is not Rachel's job on a mainstream media source to campaign for a candidate. If that is the way she wants to conduct herself then she should be on talk radio... I feel the same way about Sean Hannity.
I could be wrong, but didn't Mitt Romney just say that he thinks he'll do BETTER in OHIO than expected because of some SYSTEM-WIDE POLLING FLAW that Romney claims exists in Ohio?
But, isn't Ohio also where they use the ELECTRONIC VOTING MACHINES that are made by a company that has ties to the Romney family through one of Mitt's sons?
If these are both true, it should probably be mentioned tonight.
Prescott Bush (the father of George H. W. Bush) and other prominent Americans tried to overthrow the U.S. Government in a little reported failed military coup.
But now all the "New World Order" needs are rigged voting machines.
For instance, this report by "centralpavote" on YouTube that his touchscreen voting machine's sensitive area for Romney overlapped most of the area that was labelled Obama:

Some of the commenters suggest that this is a fake, and indeed I'm wondering why no location was specified, but this is something that could happen.
I hate being a bearer of bad news and I mean not to change the subject, but what happens the day after the election in NY/NJ area if this new nor'easter hits on Wednesday?
Snow, wind and rain. More beach erosion and localized flooding in low lying areas.
Rachael, please tell me you have that great video montage of Obama's achievements available to repost?!
I was going to post the same thing, the bit with the President's accomplishments was awesome!!!
I'll 3rd that!
The show tonite is awsome, I agree with Fred Will Wallace please make this video nontage of Obama's achievements abailable to all of us . Wonderful show, I wish this had been on the internet for the last month for all to see or read!!!
Never miss your show!!!!!! Love it!!!!!!!!!!
Uhm, I thought the evil republicans kept him from doing anything? Or, is it really that he can get done what he wants to, but yet wants an excuse?
I wish people would stop proclaiming the Pres ended the war in Iraq and is ending the one in Afghanistan. On Iraq, Bush negotiated the end with the only open question being the size of any residual force. On Afghanistan, the Pres is ending what he mainly started - the surge - with a known end date. I can never understand why anyone would announce and end date. If you do, then why surge?
My guess is the Obama campaign opted not to run on his record since he would be attacked on the record. Stimulus - shovel ready jobs, temporary fixes which have not produced lasting growth, unemployment just below 8%, slow GDP growth - the list goes on.
And now, his foreign policy, especially in Libia will be aired.
And the fiscal cliff, which he has also avoided.
cuckoo, cuckoo
Didn't Obama sign the fiscal cliff, after proposing it?
Dan Rather is non-relevant, and has a negative attitude. Please don't have him on the air.
Let's not forget that the next president will choose one or two Supreme Court Judges.
For myself, my Daughter in Laws, and my Grandaughters I don't want womens lives and choices to go back to the 40's
Pray that Obama wins!!
I heard on on of the MSNBC shows about Romney's son being involved in the voting machines being used during this election. Why has this been hushed up? Or was it not a true comment?
Because it was proven to be a false statement.
Where was it proven false? You should post a link or source so we can all look at it.
It isn't a direct line of "ownership" but yes, you can tie Romney's son to that company with only 1 degree of seperation. That is still too close.
Why has no one asked the question that if it was Barack Obama that made all these catastrophic insults against the 47%, lies against GM, social security plans, medicare cuts and their real agenda for America, etc. will these same white males stomach him even after a mere first debate win? We seem to know the answer to that question. NOOOOOOOOOOOO WAYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY!!!!!!!! Why may I ask?
cuckoo, cuckoo
Rachael, Why has it not occurred to you or anyone to ask "If Obama made all the atrocities Romney made against the 47%, Medicare cuts, Women, self-deportation claims, flip-flopping here and there on every issue, and so very many more, during this election campaign, would these White Males standing strongly behind Romney, vote for him?" We know the answer to that question: NOOOOOOOOOO WAYYYYYYYYYYY!!! I wonder why?
Stink, more.

(.. prop. 32, is a sham.)
Our other, main Senator - Barbara Boxer, isn't up for re-election. ...
You know someone has a good idea when you say, why didn't I think of that. TRMS I really enjoyed your opening segment rattling off news coverage of all of the different things Pres. Obama achieved in his first four years. This could've been a commercial that I believe would have gone a long way in this election. As your discussion with Dan Rather indicated the campaign made a decision to singularly focus on defining Mitt Romney and making this a choice election. But I don't see why you couldn't have done both. After everyone shows up to vote tomorrow I guess we'll have another four years to solidify the extensive history of this Great president. Thank you TRMS and MSNBC for all of your work over the last four years. And as they say, 4 more years, 4 more years, 4 more years…
I read a story on Daily Kos, That apparently a Federal Judge will listen to a suit filed by the Chairman of the green Party in OHIO in regards to the Software / Voting machines. The suit has been filed against SOS Husted hearing is set for 0900.
seen where he had some untested counting software patch placed into the voting system. not thats suspicious or anything.
well gee maybe it was to fix the 2 to 1 Romney vote as they know Anonymous is watching.
LOL nah that would be to honest.
Thank you very much for saying on your show what Obama has done these past four years. I knew he had done some but not that much since I don't follow politics. The greed of the politicians has been getting worse and worse. I am sixty-eight and Obama is the second president I have voted for. I have always felt if no one was running for office I am not going to be responsible for them to get in. I had been too busy trying to survive on my job. With GOD's help, I survived twenty-nine years on a union job even though they tried, almost the whole time, to make me quit or to fire me. I had proof to keep them from doing it. When I retired I didn't know Obama was running for president. Listening to him, something he said made me take my savings out of 401k and not a month later it bit the dust and I didn't lose any of it. I thank GOD every day because he and his angels have helped me a lot of times and I am glad I started paying attention.
The discussion of the presidents Supreme Court appointments tonight made me wonder when was the last time half of the justices on the court were nominated by a single president.
Stop laughing! You can be replaced!
Rachel cannot.
ouch
come on admit it we love honestly. And Rachel is our honesty right now. She will change. Next thing we know Rachel will be getting speeding tickets in her new 500 HP Jag. you do not know . . . could happen. . . OK, I am not putting much money on it . .
Dan Rather is irrelevant, and why does this show continue to give him this platform???
HIs statement that Romney "had a case to make" is absurd -- Just what 'case' was there to be made, when Obama's policies were often times corporate centrist right, with Romney as the poster boy for these very same positions...especially on behalf of Wall Street...
Obama failed the left, particularly on the wars, constitutional justice, and on healthcare, and on healthcare, had he pushed a public option, he could have avoided the 2010 debacle in congress, and this year's viability of the worst possible GOP candidate who personifies all things that are evil about the corporate right....
Dan Rather's 'insights' are warped by a corporate right apologia, and he owes his audience more than this pablum... SHAME ON HIM! and SHAME ON YOU for giving him a platform....
Everyone seems to forget that this country is not totally represented by the right or the left. If a President governs to satisfy only his base then he is not representing almost half of the country. We are a representational government. Bill Clinton understood this and has been critical of Obama for not understanding how to govern from a non-partisan stance. Unless the President wins 90% of the popular vote, then he does not have free rein to cram his ideological beliefs on the rest of the population. I would feel this way regardless of which party was in the White House.
"Unless the President wins 90% of the popular vote, then he does not have free rein to cram his ideological beliefs on the rest of the population."
Wait a second? Who gets to determine which percentage of the population a president has to win the popular vote by before he/she can let fly with their personal beliefs over the entire U.S. population? That is pure crazy talk! When the president is sworn in, he is then president over ALL of us in the U.S.. Sorry. That's how it goes. He doesn't have to check his beliefs, idealized or otherwise, at the door. Look, I am who I am. When I'm on the job I bring all of who I am to that job. How is the president any different? What, he can't be a catholic or a mormon either? Sorry, but that is just nonsense,
I'm sorry, I disagree with your praise of Rachel Maddow. On the night before an important election in this country, it is disgraceful that she chose to campaign for one candidate because she felt he hadn't presented his case well enough. MSNBC has been ridiculous in their bias in the coverage of the debates and the election. I am not a Romney supporter but I do support the mainstream news media reporting in an unbiased manner. If she wants to conduct herself in this manner, then she needs to be on talk radio, not mainstream news. I feel the same way about Sean Hannity.
I don't agree. I think Rachael had a fantastic point - debunking the Republican stance that Obama hasn't really done anything. If you report the truth, if you address the political ploys of a party's platform, how is that campaigning? Facts are facts. All I see in your comment and some of these others is a bunch of people pretending to want unbiased news but actually just complaining that Rachael made President Obama look good. Guess what? He did good. We need the media to give us the full story. I hear nothing but Republican rhetoric here in Texas, and I was just glad that Rachael put something together so I finally got to hear the rest of the story.
My question would be, "Where else have you heard everything Rachael said about Obama?" Certainly not in the unbiased mainstream media. For the record, FOX is very to the right, not unbiased at all. I disagree that she was campaigning for Obama. She was stating his record because no one else seems to want to do that. That's just good journalism - telling the story no one else is telling. Since when is giving your own opinion not considered good conduct? Finally, MSNBC is cable news and can be whatever it wants to be. I think they do a much better job as it pertains to transparency and giving an opportunity for the other side, especially when they do panels of guests, than do the mainstream media outlets do. I'm a fan!
Transparency is the key word there Len. I agree that msnbc has much more transparency than FOX Noise will EVER have. Lies are lies, truth is truth, and facts are facts. How has the distinction greyed so much for so many people. It's really kind of scary.
Myth Romney's political record and behavior, his business & personal life (past and present) speaks volumes about his character and what his idea of what our future would look like if he ran things. No thanks, I'll stick with sane.
For the record, the people that claim, "Obama hasn't accomplished much"...please! Here's a couple of hundred plus-many historically very significant: http://kaystreet.wordpress.com/2010/11/01/new-the-244-accomplishments-of-president-obama/
P.S. How many events on that list do you think Romney would have accomplished or even cared about?
