Hear hear.
To anyone standing in line to vote: each state has its own voting laws. Washington state mails a ballot to each registered voter weeks before the election. We mail them back or drop them off in person, but you know weeks in advance that you DO have a vote.
Write, call, email your STATE legislators and ask them why they can't join the 20th century, if not the 21st.

YEAH!! My line was only 9 people long. Thank you to everyone who stood in much much much longer lines, and to everyone who voted!
Thank you to everyone staying in line. It is unacceptable that people have to consider giving up a days work to vote but remember it's far better than waking up on Wednesday to find out we are headed back to the same Republican policies that cost us millions of jobs. You're taking one day off of work to stand in line increases your chances of still having that job over the next four years and beyond.
well nice to see that Chrysler gave every one off today to vote.
heck i can remember went you was asked if you wanted two hours in the morning or afternoon to vote.
Election day is a holiday in some states. From Wikipedia
LOL
well seeing i lived in California guess that's why i remembered getting time off to vote.
Love it!
The more voters the better! Voting in my area of Ohio has been very easy with good turn out. Seems like a lot of people that didnt vote the last time are voting this time. That's always good for the country. May the best man win!
Love this tweet! Absolutely rings true. Do what you can to stay in that line, I salute you! I was super lucky to have only a 20 minute wait for voting. Voting in elections and having your vote count for something- is a Big Effing Deal! It's rare in the world, don't forget it, so stick it out and cast that ballot!
I stood in line at the Schwab House in NYC for two hours to vote. And it was worth every minute! GO OBAMA! WE WILL DO THIS!
I got to vote at my university student union, and so my two-hour line was indoors. Also, I snagged a chair and could sit while waiting.
See? I sorta kinda took Rachel's advice about having a chair (I knew they were available on that floor). I even brought my own magnifying glass so I could more easily read the fine print on my paper (!) ballot.
Ahh Rachel and TRMS fans, I could NOT resist. I had to screen-grab Rachel's 'what to bring to the polling place,' and tweet/FB this. http://twitpic.com/baqsv1 and

Already, reports of voting machines flipping votes from Obama to Romney?
http://youtu.be/QdpGd74DrBM Hmm.. and so it begins? Reportedly, this voting machine in Central Pennsylvania has been taken off-line.
No line this morning in Culver City California...
Where I live (Hudson, MA) There was one person in front of me in the line when I arrived. It took SOOO long to vote. ;)
But we still use paper ballots, and a ballot box that was built over 60 years ago. At 2:30 this afternoon over 570 people in my district had voted already. The people there had said that a lot of people had voted already and more than usual.
Today I was denied the right to vote, because in the state of Florida, proof of Identity is not considered a valid military ID, a Passport and University ID. The only thing they will accept, is a Florida issued ID and my social security card.
I am an out of state student at the University of South Florida from the state of North Carolina. I was told when registering to vote here, that because I lived on campus I would be able to vote here and the only thing I needed to do was put down the last 4 digits of my Social. I did so and weeks after, I got a letter in the mail. This letter was sent out last week on Thursday which stated for some reason they could not verify the last 4 digits of my social. I was then told I must present my Social Security Card. I did not bring my Social with me from NC nor did I bring my birth certificate. However, I did bring a passport, a military ID, a NC State driver license and a USF ID, and proof of enrolment. None of these sufficed to prove my identity. I am not the only one with this problem. Several of my room mates and friends, one of which has lived in Florida his entire life, have run into the same barricade. He gave his Florida Driver License number and again for some magical reason they could not verify it, and he needed to bring his social.
Now, I am wondering, why was I denied my fundamental right to vote, because I could not obtain my social security card at this short of a notice. I registered to vote in the State of North Carolina without having to show my social security. "The rules are different" I was told when I called the Supervisor of Elections office.
Today, me, and students like me, did not get to vote. Not out of laziness or apathy, but because there were simply too many barricades to get a chance to vote. Barricades which one would think are easily surmountable when you have 4 Valid picture ID's as well as proof of residence and enrolment. Needless to say I am very upset.
Please report this and have your friends do the same:

Dear Rachel,
I was going to post a photo of what it looks like in Boise, Idaho to vote. However, when I got to our polling place- there was literally NO LINE. I decided against just taking a photo of the volunteers. Anyway, there were reports of up to an hour wait in some areas, but nothing like we have seen in Florida and other states.
Its amazing how easy it is to vote when you are not in a swing state subject to voter suppression....
