Ok, I know Rachel said "elections" make her feel civically tingly, but I tried a version with that and "elections" looks weird on a bag.

Hey, Rachel, please let that clown, Reince Priebus, know that the Republicans also lost the caterpillar vote. What a joke that guy is! I am CERTAIN he will be removed from his position as Chairman of the Republican National Committee within weeks if not days. An incompetent clown, an embarrassment even to that party. Bye, bye, Reince. Don't let the cocoon hit you in the butt.

I'm feeling tingly too, but for a different reason. In Jan., NYT sold its Regional Media Group to a Southeastern group called Halifax, purported to be Libertarians. My paper is in Santa Rosa (Sonoma County), CA (north of SF), a 3-paper group (a daily and 2 weeklies). We had the obligatory meet-and-greet Town Hall then and were assured they cared about newspapers. Turned out they only cared about Southeastern newspapers. Found out today that they'd worked hard from Day One to offload our building and printing plant, willing to leave us homeless and press-less. Even had a buyer lined up but, thankfully, the deal fell through.
Step in some local investors who had grown up with this Hometown Paper and hated to see it risk being dissolved by Halifax. Got together a bunch of local investors (including Jean Schulz (Peanuts creator Charles Schulz' widow) and other local investor/philanthropists, and put in an offer. This morning at 11:50 a.m., after the newspaper guild unanimously approved their contract, the bank approved the loan that sealed the deal.
We had the year's 2nd Town Hall and were introduced to the most heartfelt and genuinely moved group of investors (call themselves Sonoma Media Investments) I can imagine anywhere else in the country. We now definitely have a new lease on life with investors who are willing to back us and give us what we need. Remember, we're talking NEWSPAPERS here. The publisher announced there'd be a full page ad in Sunday's paper listing the jobs they will be hiring for. And no more outsourcing Circulation to India! The meeting ended with a joyous folding of the Halifax flag that had flown over the building since the sale being ceremoniously folded and stuffed into an envelope addressed to Halifax, amid loud cheers. Also, head investor was wearing jeans and declared the end to the dress code. Louder cheers.
And later I found myself feeling an utterly new feeling: Pride in working for a local enterprise that had been saved by "grass roots" investors/philanthropists, some of whom had made their money in the region's telecom boom. I didn't grow up here; East Coaster who lived many years in NYC, but I suddenly, and for the first time, felt a contributing member of this community. This wonderful, exquisitely beautiful county full of the best wine and food and Redwoods and ocean and lakes and really terrific people.
Yes, Will, I'm feeling tingly.
FYI, in case anyone's interested, here's a profile of some of the investors, "head guy in jeans" mentioned above is a Sscramento lobbyest named Darius Anderson. Also, former Congressman Doug Bosco (D), Steve Falk (a former publisher of the SF Chronicle), and a surviving member of the family who originally sold the paper to the New York Times 30 years ago. Full circle.
Here's a link to the story in the daily of the group, The Press Democrat: http://www.pressdemocrat.com/article/20121108/ARTICLES/121109582/1350?Title=It-s-official-Press-Democrat-sold-to-local-group
Heartening story. VERY glad to see a local paper survive corporate machinations. Good show!
It must be noted that not only did Romney lose his TWO home states- Massachusetts and Michigan- by enormous margins (23 points and 8 1/2 points respectively), but Rosie Ruiz, I mean Paul Ryan, did not deliver HIS state, Wisconsin. That is the very least expected of the V-P candidate. Moreover, as that superb publication THE NATION points out,"Not only didn’t he help win the state, he couldn’t even win his hometown of Janesville, which went overwhelmingly for the Democratic ticket...and surrounding Rock County, which gave the Romney-Ryan ticket just 39 percent of the vote." That is pretty amazing but also very revealing. To know Romney and Ryan is to not like them. And what of this "bright future" for Rosie Ryan?
I should add that Romney also owns homes in California and New Hampshire. Oh, and he lost those states as well. The best chance the Dems have of winning a state in the old Confederacy would be if Romney purchased a home in one of them.
Dear Fox Noise, Karl Rove, The Kochroach Brotheres, Mitch McConnell, and all the Republicon, Right-Wing-Nut puppets :
We have passed the hat around to buy you all some clues about what happened in the 2012 election :
Clue #1 : You wonder why women barely voted for you. But you talk about women as if they cannot think for themselves. You talk about women as though this is the 50s and they should be home pregnant and making your meals. You also talk about small government except where it applies to women's health care and reproductive rights. You expect women to be perfect Barbie Dolls in appearance and hate women who look real and down to earth. ( Except Greta Van Sustern and Barbara Bush for some reason – they get a pass for looking normal )
Clue #2: You wonder why people of color ( Blacks, Hispanics, Asians, American Indians etc ) barley voted for you and yet every time you talk about people of color it is with such disrespect and then you use them as tokens to try to lie and say you are not racist when the whole world can see that you are terrible bigots every time you speak of this issue and by your despicable actions.
Clue #3: You wonder why gays, lesbians, bisexuals and transgenders barely voted for you. And yet you demonize them in public while at your private gyms and clubs and behind your barns same sex ' favors' are traded in all the time. You are the most closeted human beings on the planet. You are so lucky that there is no such thing as ' closet gay dar ' bracelets that people can wear because they would be going off big time at any gatherings you attend.
Clue #4: You wonder why Americans believe that you hate the middle class and the poor when your Vice Presidential candidate says there are makers and takers and your Presidential candidate disparages 47% of us by calling us dead-beats. Well Paul Ryan got it wrong about which groups are which in that statement because about makers and takers billionaire Vulture Capitalists who are the TAKERS who have been stealing trillions in American tax dollars for decades through bogus subsidies, wall street and banking scams, illetal money being sent to dictators over seas, criminal misuse of military spending and on and on. They rip off the workers and tax payers of this country who are the MAKERS day after day, year after year, decade after decade.
In other words get a clue that the rest of the world can see you for the women-hating, racist, homophobic, economic terrorist, vulture capitalist, religious fanatic, fascistic, hypocrites that you are. You are a dying breed who will never change on your way off the cliff you created for yourselves.
As for the rest of us out here in the REAL America . . . we are proud and joyful that we re-elected Barack Obama as our President ! So much for buying and suppressing the vote !!!
Bravo hope!
You have the true picture, Hope!!!
Righteous!

LOL . . . exactly Day !
The Nov 7 edition of the Piqua (OH) Daily Call has, below the fold, the headline "Absentee voters don't get ballots." Piqua, OH is in Miami County, just north of Dayton.
I suppose, given the mis-steps in election administration in other parts of the country, this should not be surprising in part of Speaker Boehner's district where the only real election is the Republican primary.
If I had an electronic copy, I'd send it. Is it worth me trying to get a digital copy?
millions of people did not vote, (approximately 1/2 of the voting age population) and of those who did, approximately 1/2 of those who did, did not want Obama. Obama voters are in a very small majority of about two percentage points. So to think that the vast majority of America is infatuated by Obama and his policies is such a falicy. I sure don't see a mandate under those circumstances. I see gridlock on the horizon, because someone has to be looking out for the somewhere near half of the people who are against his socialist agenda. Those of us who voted for conservative candidates expect them to go to Washington and protect our interests. That is how our system works. The candidates work for the voters who elected them.
1) Obama isn't a socialist, nor is his policy. Every single liberal WISHES he were as liberal as you guys think.
2) There's even less support for your guy, so what is your point? Of those who care about what direction our country goes and felt that their vote counted for something, more than half still want him.
3) Protect your interests, sure. Protect them to the extent that government doesn't do anything, no. Half the country wants one thing, half wants the other. So accept compromise.
4) I didn't see you saying the same when Bush barely won in 2000 by Supreme Court and lost the popular vote. How much respect did Republicans pay to the half of the country that disagreed with them?
And, as I recall the polling leading up to Election Day, the President enjoyed even bigger leads amongst "registered" voters than he did amongst "likely" voters. So much for your theory. Next?
Want to hang your hopes on a House of Reps that's somewhat less popular than toe fungus, Jes? Proceed...

Barack Obama won the popular vote AND the electoral college. The greater percentage of all demographics -- except bitter, ignorant, racist, white men -- voted for this President to be re-elected.
The rest of the people who voted against him listened to lies and slander for 5 years on Fox Noise, from Rush Limbaugh and the other Right-Wing Puppets. If these information challenged people were getting real news and information about President Barack Obama and his administration . . . millions more would have voted for him as well.
The is a great nation and we have just re-elected a great President.
Exactly Hope42012! Low information voters are a travesty and Fox News, Rush Limbaugh, Glenn Beck and all other liars need to bebrought up on charges of tyranny.
dang it - (comment didn't post where I meant it to).
Does tingly come in eating crow flavor. I have a few friends I would like to send a bag to eat while watching inaguration or maybe a New Year's Eve party.
Rachel, I know you're quite busy BUT could your researcher folk spend some time finding out what in blazes is the issue with Floriduh! I live here, I stood two hours in a line , my purpose was to vote. I am a citizen of this nation. My vote is worthless this morning. Channel 10 here released a newsbrief with the following paragraph in it. "The race results were so close that they could trigger a recount, bringing back memories of the 2000 election, though this time, the votes would hardly matter."
It is completely unacceptable to me and every other voter in this twice failed state where elections are lost in the Everglades. HELP shed some light if you are able...please.
Sometimes I need to be more careful about "speed reading" - when I first glanced at the headline on this blog item, I thought it said "Goes Well With Panties". Civically tingly? Well, I guess... LOL.
