Tonight's guests:
- Chris Hayes, host of MSNBC's weekend morning show, "UP with Chris Hayes" and author of "Twilight of the Elites: America after Meritocracy"
- John Stanton, Washington bureau chief at Buzzfeed
And here's senior producer Cory Gnazzo at the white board:

Chris and Rachel, my king and queen of MSNBC!!!!
Obama heading to Burma why is McConnell supporting it so much? Well next week he will be against it.
It looks kinda lonely over here---where's Mud-Slide?
My question is this; if Obama is using mind control, why are the Republicans immune?
Now, that's a good question Garrett.
Could it be that the Republicans have no mind, therefore, they are exempt from the effects of being controlled. Or, it just might be that the Rabid Fox has already beat the President to the controlling of their mind. They do have small minds you know, they can only take in a little bit at a time.
Because they wear tin foil hats of course.
Who is this marine Aaron Mankin on the show Friday night, and why haven't I heard of him? About halfway through his talk about what it means to be a soldier in Iraq/Afghanistan, I realized I was not breathing. Don't miss this. (It's neither Left nor Right - just compelling.)
Leading to the block with Chris Hayes, Rachel was talking about the seemingly sudden return to sanity by some members of the Republican elite. Sure, Christie is disowning Romney, and the majority leader of the Georgia legislature is resigning due to his seminar on Article 21. This is a welcome development. However, it may be a feint.
I have a feeling that we should be cautious of any sudden move by a party, who have for 40 years, promoted a remake of our laws that favor the financial giants. For decades, the Republicans have been cajoled, influenced and purchased in order to steer legislation toward the benefit of corporate interests. Wages have remained flat while CEO renumeration has increased 400%. Tax law benefits those who live off their money. Wage earners are the victims. People are beginning to believe that the more money a person has, the higher the quality of that person. We know this is not true.
My American hero, Benjamin Franklin, was known for his 'quality product for a fair price'. We are now accustomed to planned obsolescence. Our future as Americans, and as residents of the planet, must demand a change in the basic structure of business law. First of all, corporations are not people.
I feel that we liberals, being good natured as we are, are being sucked in by this sudden friendship offer by Republicans. They have beaten us in the marketing of political ideas for many years. They have led a large part of our opinion down the road to their success. We won this election, and they are not to be trusted.
If they are successful, they will be our friends for only as long as it takes to confuse our minds about their goals. As soon as they win the trust of of the majority, they will be back to their old tricks.
If Republicans truly want to cooperate, then let's do so. But, keep it in the back of your mind that they will change course as soon as they think they can reimburse their benefactors. At that point, we'll be back to square one, without Obama to steer us to safety.
I don't wish to lose our gains. We worked too hard to get suckered at this point.
well said dan
I saw your piece on Chip Rogers and his Agenda 21 Mind Control. It was great! I don't know if you realize this, but Chip Rogers was the same nut you did a story on years ago. It was about implantation of microchips and was very funny. I have quite a few other tidbits about this guy if you're interested. He is remarkably slimy.
Stephanie, wait, microchips?
Under our circumstances, there is no chance of building the America we want because we can't address the issues that have been causing our (rather dramatic) economic decline, and that's because we refuse to consider how poverty effects the whole of the nation. Americans today are stunningly ignorant about poverty and its overall impact. Think for a minute: The middle class recently expressed outrage at a rumor that the President was considering ending the work mandate on the poor (at least, for the ill, the rural poor lacking available jobs, childcare or transportation, etc.). The US shut down and shipped out a massive number of jobs in recent decades, and then increased the number of people desperate for jobs. Workfare labor saves employers money. So, where do you think all the workfare jobs come from?
Not sure this is the proper place but I have heard several comments and video on your show regarding the fiasco situations at voting places such as long waits, cluttered ballots, ID checks, etc. We have a great, rather new, system here in Washington State ... vote by mail for everyone (I think all voters are now included). The registration is easy prior to receiving the ballot and when it arrives it does so usually two weeks before election day with a well done complete brochure describing each item or person on the ballot. One can study each or put aside while, for example, looking up additional information. When complete the ballot is placed inside a plain envelope and sealed and that placed into an outer envelope which has your name and address and signature. Supposedly it is much less expensive to the county or state and is only handled by the USPS before delivery to those counting.
We very much enjoy the evening Maddow show and make sure we record it when we cannot watch it live.
