Judge's contraceptive ruling.
I'd be frightened if this went to the Supreme Court, but this ruling is wrong.
This is NOT a church, it is a publishing business. Does that mean that the judge feels that the company can use the religious exemption about labor laws also?
The Mormon church owns a shopping mall. Does that mean that Sears can use this ruling to do the same? Could Sears get backwards coverage? Since they are exempt via the Mormon church mall exemption, could they then use that for all of their stores?
Hey Booker-you know of course that to get food stamps you will have to give away your money and many of your possessions. So go ahead and deplete your bank accounts, cash in you stock and get rid of the money, sell all but one vehicle and perhaps all your houses(they might let you keep one to live in).

I would love to see the people that beyatch about food stamps and welfare try to live off them for a month. A week doesn't amount to crap. When you have to pay rent, expenses that go with rent, electric and heat unless it's included, and then buy groceries for a month, nevermind the expenses for insurance, repairs, and gas if you're lucky enough to have a vehicle old enough they will let you keep. That bet is pure BS.

Paul, Before you get all super critical of Cory Booker, you might want to check into his record and follow him for a while on Twitter. He's the real deal. Takes care of his city and his people. Not perfect, but damn good. A very rare guy. It would be a great loss to Newark, but hope he gets on the national scene soon.

I am reading the Aug 3 2012 report of the United Nations Special Rapporteur on Indigenous Peoples' Rights submitted to the UN General Assembly. Indigenous peoples in the Americas have the right to give or withhold consent to development and investment projects on or affecting their ancestral territories. The indigenous are dying for this right around the Americas, and when they lose it - to a hydro-electric dam, oil excavations and drilling, or mining, for example, their lands may be destroyed, and consequentially their culture and subsistence also. A human being ripped from his or her cultural lifeways is destitute, physically and mentally. This legal right to withhold consent must be strengthened and implemented. This is complex and overturns mammoth, global scale applecarts.
It seems that some republicans are having a hard time dealing with the fact that their cheating didn't work...one can only imagine what they're cooking up for the next election.

Popegregory, that is how they get the working class of this country to vote against their own best interests. They stir up their base on issues that have no impact on them at all - guns! gays! dead babies! scary poor black people! - so that the voters ignore their jobs moving overseas and their kids' schools crumbling. If voters focused for one minute on their own self interest, Repubs would never be elected again. But the right wing spends millions of dollars on constant media repetition of non-issues on radio and Fox tv to ensure their voter don't ever get that minute.
