Overwhelmingly, women voted for President Obama in 2012. That's a fact. Nonetheless, Fox Nation has a message for those women: you're wrong and what's more, you're angry wrong.
In a nutshell, women are angry. They’re also defensive, though often unknowingly. That’s because they’ve been raised to think of men as the enemy. Armed with this new attitude, women pushed men off their pedestal (women had their own pedestal, but feminists convinced them otherwise) and climbed up to take what they were taught to believe was rightfully theirs.
Now the men have nowhere to go. It is precisely this dynamic – women good/men bad – that has destroyed the relationship between the sexes. Yet somehow, men are still to blame when love goes awry. Heck, men have been to blame since feminists first took to the streets in the 1970s. But what if the dearth of good men, and ongoing battle of the sexes, is – hold on to your seats – women’s fault?
Also:
Contrary to what feminists like Hanna Rosin, author of The End of Men, say, the so-called rise of women has not threatened men. It has p***ed them off. It has also undermined their ability to become self-sufficient in the hopes of someday supporting a family. Men want to love women, not compete with them. They want to provide for and protect their families – it’s in their DNA. But modern women won’t let them... It’s the women who lose. Not only are they saddled with the consequences of sex, by dismissing male nature they’re forever seeking a balanced life. The fact is, women need men’s linear career goals – they need men to pick up the slack at the office – in order to live the balanced life they seek. So if men today are slackers, and if they’re retreating from marriage en masse, women should look in the mirror and ask themselves what role they’ve played to bring about this transformation. Fortunately, there is good news: women have the power to turn everything around. All they have to do is surrender to their nature – their femininity – and let men surrender to theirs. If they do, marriageable men will come out of the woodwork.
Comments from in (or outside) the angry woodwork are welcome below.

There are plenty of "marriageable" men already, women... Unfortunately for you, we're gay.
Here here! (bitchez)
We're not all gay. Some of us just don't want a fembot or a Stepford wife.
Is it really so remarkable that some men would prefer a partner instead of someone who requires management (or at least pretends to)?
In past, those men you’ve loved have vowed to care,
And yet, their vows descended to abuse,
Worrying at your soul, small tear by tear,
To pull you down to levels that they’d choose.
I reach to you, to help you from the mire,
To teach you more, to care, to learn, to love.
I do not need a queen to raise up higher,
But a partner, to help us both reach heights above.
We both have flaws, yet our flaws complement,
Two forms which join in jointless symmetry,
To reach our full potential is our intent;
Our lives conjoined, there will no limits be.
As equals, we will search for worlds unknown;
Together, we are greater than alone.
Republicans claim there is no war on women,
There is no cause to cause domestic strife,
They simply feel some women's rights need trimmin',
The right to choose won't rule the right to life.
Republicans, ask your daughters, your wives,
If marriage vows should iron shackles be,
If being born women gives them second-class lives,
If stealing away their freedoms makes them 'free',,,
The women in this land aren't foolish or enslaved,
They won't give their rights without a fight.
They can see how Republicans have behaved,
And in November, won't vote for the Right.
Republicans are simply cutting their own throats,
Persuading women to exercise their own votes.
What the *&*&%*&*#???? Fox has become an culturally alien network!
They've always been culturally alien. Have you looked at their women anchors?
Wait.............I am trying to figure out how Greta Van Sustern fits into this idea.
Greta Van Sustern is the exception that proves the rule.
Apparently the folks at Fox had this written for them by someone from Focus on the Family or some other religious conservative group. It stinks to high heaven of fundamentalist evangelical "thought". It is, in fact, something that with very few alterations, could have come from the Taliban.
Suzanne Venker is the author of this (lovely) article.
From Daily Kos:
You see, according to Suzanne Venker, self-appointed expert on why women suck and the niece of Phyllis "Yes, she's still alive" Schlafly, so you know that she knows what she's talking about,
I'm with you Uff - it had to be some religuluous wingnuts purporting "family values" - funny thing is that in today's society you NEED TWO INCOMES to be able to live decently, I didn't say lavishly, I said decently without food-stamps especially if you have children....Course for all those evangelical red staters sucking on food stamps - I'm sure that they'll disagree with what I've just written!
Men are from Mars women are from Venus...and evidently FOX is broadcasting directly from Bizzarro world
But, as I said to Bill O'Reilly the other day, "The great majority of your ideas come from Uranus."
You can't be Sirius...
One can see from this that women will continue to gain (angrily take) power. So what does that mean for men? Since those wimmuns are so darned angry, it should mean that eventually men will not be allowed to vote, hold jobs outside the home, attend college, own land or personal property, drive, make decisions, or control their own bodies.
Maybe then we'll understand why them wimmuns was so angry.
If I were a woman, I sure as Hell wouldn't be a Republican and I sure as @!$%# wouldn't take my marching orders from the Fox Splooge channel.
Unfortunately, there are a lot of women out there who figure it's a safer bet to side with the oppressors. Literally. Being a woman who stands up for her rights can be a physically, emotionally, and financially dangerous. So they throw in with the Republicans, because they get to be treated like "good women" and get the prime scraps from the head of the table, and don't have to worry that some dude is going to take it upon himself to "put her in her place."
Ponygirl, there was a similar phenomenon 160 years ago. There were "house @!$%#s" and "field @!$%#s." The "house @!$%#s" got some extra privileges, not least being superior status over the field hands.
And, no, frankly I'm not in the mood today for silly games like "the letter-word." That's what it was called then, no sugar coating.
@DC - yes, you're right, there were "house *%$*#@" and "field *%$*#@" - but they were all slaves and sold when "massa felt like it". And though there are left-over resentments light/dark, "good hair"/"nappy hair", etc. when it all boils down to it - they don't make a hill of difference in how black folk are treated by white people....Just look at what they say about the President....
Indeed -- but by letting those of the house feel as though they were "not like them" the owners played one of the oldest games in the book: divide and conquer.
And what do you know? The misogynists are still at it.
Many Republican women don't consider Women's Rights to be important to the running of the country. Some may have relatively more progressive views than your average misogynist Republican male, but they're somehow convinced that their rights as women are trumped by whatever fiscal policy the Republicans have (however nonsensical it is). A lot of the time, they also think that there AREN'T women's rights issues, that our rights are perfectly established and protected, and that "feminism" is a crutch, much the same way many of these Republicans think that black people are "getting too uppity" in this post-racial decade.
"Why, women who complain that they aren't being treated equally are just using it as an excuse to get more privileges than men!" said an idiot to me in one of my Facebook posts.
And they wonder why we're angry...
This is the 21st century, right???
Plus or minus?
Everywhere but on the History channels and Fox.
Nah. The author is just shilling a book:
From the website 'howtochooseahusband.com':
"The 12-Step Program in How to Choose a Husband is a detox for marriage-minded women who are up against a new America: one so hopelessly vacuous it believes living alone, earning a paycheck, and choosing sex over love is superior to the sacrifices and rewards of married life.
The cultural messages about men, marriage, life and love are poisonous — that’s why I wrote How to Choose a Husband, and that’s why it incorporates a 12-step program. The “12 steps” comprise the main section of the book, but they are also offered in video form. The videos are designed to augment, not replace, the book.
With the purchase of the videos, you’ll have access to the private area of our forum where you’ll be able to continue the conversation with me and other readers. The package includes four videos. In the last video, you’ll hear from men who discuss what they look for in a woman and why they think it’s so much harder these days to make marriage work."
Thanks for doing the research on this. Stands to reason that someone saw a way to make money. Still really stupid, but some folks will do anything to try to make a buck (and there are enough fools ready to give them some money).
You've got that right! Just look and see how much money that sham of "doctor," John Gray, made off "Men are from Mars, Women are from Venus." He made millions basically spewing the same 1930's bull@!$%# that the right likes to spew. There's one born every minute ....
Goodgodalmighty!!! It isn't the men who don't want to get married. It's the women who would rather develop their talents and abilities without the interference of the "boss". Men don't want a partnership, they want a mother, nursemaid, nanny, rock of ages, etc. We should all understand (including male conservatives) that little girls are born Women and little boys are born little boys and never grow up. I've had decades of obseving the human condition and despair of any real epiphany on the part of either gender!
barberry, Does it count that I spent the morning baking my husband's favourite cookies?
Worse, that I enjoyed doing it?
Disclosure: I did not wear an apron over my jeans.
The point should be that women and men get to choose their marriage. I'm a very strong, independent woman with a somewhat traditional husband. He doesn't care that I don't bring in a regular pay-cheque because he likes that he's the "breadwinner". Other than that though, he likes to cook so why should I stop him? He also appreciates it greatly, and says so, when I cook or clean up or iron his work shirts.
We are very much partners and best friends. Why should that be so hard for the religious right to understand? It works for us, we're both happy. Why shouldn't all women and men get to find out what works for them and go for it?
Pardon me?
For time served and good behavior?
LOL David!,
80's girl, In the real world, that IS how it works. Men and women get to find out what works for them. It just takes time and experience.
Usually 30 years or so. LOL
What a load of horsesh*t. My wife is the epitome of a feminist and we have a great relationship...our marriage of 30 years is as strong as ever and she has a wonderful career of her choosing.....I am so sick of the misogynists among us. Its time for men to pay attention....
too tired to even be angry.
I'm one of those women who voted for the President. Let the GOP continue on this road...it's ok....makes it easier for me to convince other women of their idiocy.
My first thought was that this reads like a suicide note. Nice to see you read it the same way.
Shorter Fox: Relax, shut the f#ck up and do what you're told.
Many many viable fertile females will eventually mate and have babies. Who will they have babies with? Will it be the "good men" who have retreated into sullen disgust in the face of equality? Or will it be with those "bad men" who believe that all people were created equal? It seems that since it's the "good men" who are complaining, I'm guessing they aren't getting any...Indicating that we almost have them bred out.
These "Good men" say they place women on a pedestal...Funny thing about pedestals - Once you're on there, there is nowhere to go.
Who wants to leave their pedestal? Not me.
Only because it makes it easier to peek up their skirts.
India: You might feel differently if you were chained to it.
Alternative shorter Fox: It's not just the immigrants who are taking your jobs, it's the wimmins, too! Pay no attention to the fact that wages have stagnated for the past 30+ years, the cause of your problems is definitely not your corporate masters! Look over there!
Yeah, but it makes it harder to have sex...
DC Sessions, #12.2
You must know my husband. LOL
Um, not really, David. I'm not glued to that pedestal!
I've spoken with hundreds, if not thousands, of men and women, too--because I'm alive! And they're in 100% agreement that Suzanne Venker has written one of the stupidest pieces in the history of the intertubes. That's just incredible. And FOX paid her for that?
Maybe Suzanne Venker doesn't really exist, and it's just a script for a Samantha Bee routine. I'll keep telling myself that, anyway...
That sound you hear is women laughing ourselves so hard we can't even call them the four-letter-names they deserve!
There are actually men who believe that, and, what's worse, there are women who believe the men who tell them to believe it.
Of course they believe it.
That sentence, in a nutshell is why those right-wing congressmen spent so much time on trying to redefine rape at the beginning of this Session of Congress.
Tom Tomorrow says it better than I could:
http://www.dailykos.com/story/2012/11/26/1163746/-Election-aftermath?detail=hide
What do you expect from a network that claims that they get their news announcers from Victoria's Secret and doesn't feel like that's problematic?
If those are Victoria's Secret models on Fox, they would have been best kept a secret. Stunning beauties they are not, either physically or intellectually.
I hope they keep spewing out this crapola.
Then they are sure to lose the next election.
Michelle Bachmann had to be the coauthor of such a dumbass statement.
It really does reek of the "intellect" and worldview of Michele (Look how big, wide, and blue my eyes are) Bachmann.
Sounds more like Anne Coulter
OMFG.
Oh this is rich. I just this week saw a very old Rockford Files episode (mid 1970s) that had a character preaching this very same philosophy! Fun idea for an hour of dramatic fiction ("Gals, imagine how happy your husband would be if you greeted him each evening wearing nothing but a kitchen apron and a smile..."), but for real life... with real people (I count both men and women in this category, as most sane people do)... not so much.
The funniest part about that idea is that the men who most want to have their wives greet them at the door wearing nothing but an apron don't have the first clue about how to make that happen. In their minds it's woman = home+food+sex.
If they treated their wife like a complete human being, with a heart, mind and soul, and respected her as such, she'd probably do it on her own rather frequently!!!
Whatever works for each couple - yes! I bet a wife that treats her husband as a complete human being too (a guy with real feelings, real vulnerabilities, real strength, real limitations, real intelligence... just like us wives) will get exactly what she wants too!
I wasn't angry until I read that ridiculous tripe from Fox Nation. I am SO tired of conservative shills making money by telling women what we "really" think, feel, desire or know. Get off my back and get out of my bedroom! Geez.
As long as the Right continues spewing stuff like this, their voice in the larger chorus will continue to shrink. That doesn't mean it's not right and proper to speak up against this nonsense, but it's just as important to laugh at it for the nonsense it is.
Who says there is a war between the genders? They must be saying that women demanding equality is war. Weird how Fox has to frame things. Perhaps decoder rings will be required at some point. With most folks equality is a settled issue as far as semantics is concerned.
Weren't they all stressed about too much "war" talk a little while ago?
Of course, that was before their privilege got all insecure.
Once you say that men aren't threatened, but rather "pissed off" you have lost any credibility as feeling threatened is the underpinnings of anger. The rest of what this author wrote is tripe and probably reflects her own issues rather than those of women or men in general.
Wow they really have gone off the deep end. They have lost what ever is left of thier minds! They want me to give up everything I have worked so hard for to surrender to some gender role that is NOT nature but forced on women by archaic views of women being good for nothing but for birthn' babies?! THIS IS LUDICROUSNESS!!!
Tell them to WAKE UP IT"S THE 21st CENTURY!
