If John Kerry becomes SOS, his Senate seat becomes vacant. Mass. law requires a special election to fill the seat. Scott Brown won once, maybe he can do it again. And he won't be running against the uppity non-pickup-driving elitist squaw.

If John Kerry becomes Sec. of State then the Governor of Mass. gets to name an interim replacement who then gets to run in the special election against Scott Brown. A very likely scenario would be that Governor Patrick names himself interim Senator and then runs against Mr. Brown.
This would result in frat-boy Scotty getting rejected by the voters twice within six months. Where is the downside in this?

My intent was to shed some light on the hypocrisy and calculation behind the faux outrage of this manufactured crisis. There is no "Benghazigate," no Nixonian coverup. On the one hand they're trying to distract people from their obstructionism and trying to smear Obama, but they also want to torpedo Rice to get Kerry out of the Senate. I am happy to see jock Scottie go back to his former career of selling cars or coaching kickball or whatever it was. Elizabeth Warren has more brains than he in her pinky. BTW, it is sometimes instructive to review people's past post to form an opinion about them.
Sitting governors can name anyone, even those not currently living in the state (as long as they move to the state by the time they are sworn in).
And I am reasonably sure at least one sitting governor has named himself as interim Senator in the past. Doing so would be very popular within the circle of elected officials of that party in the state, for it means everyone gets a chance to move up within the state government. Lt. governor to Governor, state senator to Lt. Governor, lower house member to state senate, city council or county commission to lower house....

2. Petraeus had the intel warning of an imminent attack on Benghazi.
3. Petraeus was responsible for security in Benghazi.
4. Petraeus gave the WH the talking points.
5. Petraeus testified to a different version of the talking points.
6. Petraeus suddenly resigns.
Why is there no conspiracy theory about the Rep elites and Petraeus setting up the WH and using this as leverage for a future run at the WH.

Why not get a couple facts before trying to post a bunch of lies? Sec Clinton is in charge of security. Security at all our embacies are privided by the country involved and private contractors. And you made it quite clear, you have no interest in facts or truth.

It's unlikely Ambassador Rice will be the next Secretary of State. I say this thinking that there is too much in play, but I also think the Republicans may be disappointed if John Kerry doesn not get the nod...so who's left?
Anyone wanna hedge bets this whole selection process fpr Secretary of State will be used as leverage in the fiscal cliff fight? Any chances Secretary Clinton will stay on past January, until one is "chosen"?
