The Supreme Court may agree to hear the Prop. 8 appeal today.
A look at the internal poll numbers that the Romney camp relied on.
Weeks after election day, we're finally finding out who some mystery SuperPAC donors were.
The Senate votes today on more sanctions against Iran.
An act of sabotage at a nuclear power plant?
The ol' paper money vs. dollar coins debate make it to Capitol Hill.
So, um, Newt Gingrich and Rachel Maddow agree on something?

19 committee members and all of them are middle-aged white guys might not be the most diverse thing you can think of but the problem is not the look of their body, it's the look of their message.
a different looking candidate delivering the Romney message again will give them the same outcome.
McClatchy does a great job of tying up the story in one neat package:
Fiscal cliff crisis: Made in the GOP
http://www.mcclatchydc.com/2012/11/29/175922/fiscal-cliff-crisis-made-in-the.html
Could Newt be trying to make himself appear to be the only one who gets it so that he seems to be a viable candidate for the next election?
That they are all white was pretty much going to be a given: With Alan West losing his seat, how many other African-American GOP Congressmen are there? Their poster child for "GOP diversity"(Utah's Mia Long) couldn't win in red-state Utah.
I note that some commentators on the network that shall not be named believe there is no "war on women" by the republicans, and that we should look to the middle east to see a real "war on women"...So I guess the republican message to females next election will be "Hey, on issues of special interest to women...WE'RE NOT AS BAD AS THE TALIBAN !....Vote for US.."
yet FOX news continues to report the war on CHRISTMAS! Here's a conspiracy theory for ya, all of the cuts in Education are to keep the masses stupid so they(Republicans) can continue to have political support. Ohio has the worst educational outcomes and yet it always comes down to this swing state in deciding election outcomes. hmmmm! And incase you forgot John Boehner is from Ohio!
Use to be my reminder of The Season was Thanksgiving Weekend, Now the reminder of the season is hearing the "War On Christmas" BS.
This whole "War on Christmas" thing is So Un-American, at the root of this "War" is calling the Season "The Holidays", Holiday Trees and such.
Don't they realize that calling The Season "The Hollidays" is Inclusive? It prompts everyone to go shopping and spending.
Shopping and Spending is All American and anything stopping or even inhibiting anyone from spending money they don't have is Anti-American.
So Yes, NOT calling the Season "Holidays" doesn't get everyone in the mood to spend and, damnit, thats Un-American!

Re: dollar coin debate -- what about plastic bills?
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YTggA4jVPj0
Let's see. Dollar Coins save 4.4 Billion over a 30 year period over paper dollar bills. Projected Federal Budget for 2013 is roughly 6.4 Trillion (just go with it). Over 30 years that's 192 Trillion. Hmmm...
I guess the savings are relative...
Also, too:
Whoops. There go your savings. :-Þ
But, hey, our friends the Canadianese really like their dollar coins:
Spot the Loony!
Yup! Who needs convenient, easily folding dollar bills that we can carry in a wallet when we can fill our pockets with clanging clumps of less convenient coins that are easily confused with other coins of only ¼ the value? Progress! (At least, for those whose real agenda may be trying to establish the conditions by which they could finally convince a majority of Americans to accept a "cashless economy".)

re: The Internal Polls That Made Mitt Romney Think He'd Win
A while back I heard an interview with an advertising executive who said there is no evidence supporting the belief that people fast forward through commercials in the programs they've taped.
?What?Really? Thats why I tape/ record them, and with NASCAR I record to fast forward between yellows to the last 20~50 laps.
Point being, that executive and Newhouse live in a different world with different realities.
I live in Ohio, we started living in fear of the phone ringing so we left it roll over to the answering machine, my phone message: You've reached (Wife and I) at (Phone Number), too many polls, start talking and we may pick up, you have one minute to leave a message, thank you (beep)
The robo call from Romney was like some creepy ....
The robo call from Romney was like some creepy old perv slobbering in my ear trying to get me in the sack ....
Last night's piece on closing Gitmo missed a quiet little story that happened in October here in Illinois: http://www.mainjustice.com/2012/10/02/obama-doj-moves-forward-with-thomson-prison-purchase/
It wasn't easy to find, but I did see it sourced a couple different places. Gov. Quinn and Sen. Durbin apparently also issued statements about the purchase. The original suggestion was to move the Gitmo prisoners to a supermax in IL, and now the DOJ has a supermax in IL. Just saying.
Wait, what? But, but, but... I thought "nucular power" was safe? That doesn't sound very safe!
Of course, as Napoleon supposedly said, "Never attribute to malice what could adequately be explained by incompetence." No, wait, that doesn't sound any safer. Never mind.
