The Senate probably won't be able to ratify a U.N. treaty protecting people with disabilities.
Why four House Republicans got booted from their committees.
Paul Ryan's expanded role in the House.
A Justice Dept. official is resigning. CNN links it to "Fast and Furious."
Mitt Romney's campaign manager regrets his candidate's immigration stance.
Dick Cheney is writing a book.
Iran claims it has captured a U.S. drone. The U.S. says it's not one of ours.

Cheny writing a book about living with a black heart? I hope his ghost writer can live with the spectre of working with a ghoul.
I saw that movie. The first writer ended up dead and the second one almost died. I wouldn't take that job.
I would buy it if Uncle Dick poses for the cover pic in the Darth Vader outfit. I didn't know Uncle Dick had a typewriter down in his bunker. I want to hear his story about how he was leader, whoops, vice leader of vice for eight years. Will we get the truth on how he massaged the WMD information with the CIA? People are screaming about Susan Rice, which is unbelievable, after Cheny stood Colin Powell up at the UN, and made him lie out of his teeth........
Two different set of rules, Lesman. The GOP mantra: Never let them do unto you what you've already done unto them.
Cheny is such a despicable person and anything he would write would be so full of his world view "Fantasies" that not even George Bush could understand.
Also when we see John McCain going all goofy I submit he has Post Traumatic Stress Disorder from his time as a POW. I spent 22 months in Vietnam as a combat helicopter pilot and have a couple thousand more combat hours than he does but his treatment as a POW and being "Broken" leave me with no doubt about the state of his mental health.
I was first diagnosed with PTSD in 1991 as a result of my service to our country and Sen. McCain exhibits a multitude of symptoms.
I'm reading a poetry Anthology about PTSD called, "Castrated Hearts PTSD" written by 17 U.S. military veterans all of whom acquired PTSD while serving our country in uniform. 3 women and 14 men ranging in age from 23 to over 70 and all of whom are currently patients at the Veterans Hospital in Loma Linda California. It's a superb book, 258 pages long and fully illustreated with photographs from the individual veterans or their own illustrations.
Roadrunner; I did 4 years in a tin can. I hope that your health is good, and that you are getting the help that you need. I think it is a national disgrace in how we treat most of our vets, and I hope that you will fight for veterans rights to the nth power. Rachel has one of the few programs that goes consistently in depth on veterans issues. I first encountered PTSD from a returning Vietnam Vet, when they called it 'shell shock.' It is deeper and more complicated than that. The medical field needs to go pro bono to help our vets, if necessary.
I thought he had already written a book, The Screwtape Letters.
Why is Cheney, still saying anything at all... This man is the Devil...
It takes more than your friends calling you an expert to be considered one. Be funny if this "expert" was defeated in 2014. Of course I'm talking about Paul Ryan and you can be forgiven for not recognizing him as an expert of anything.
But he also sees himself as an expert.
Did he not learn anything from all the criticism of his budget plan pointing out his mistakes?
I guess not.

(sorry for the double post, received errors from web page. Errors bubblegum and spiceweasel. Interesting bug reports.)
The only expert thing Ryan has learned is how to be a Washington insider......
I was Hoping that Rep. Paul Broun (R-GA) would be one of those removed from a committee assignment. Broun is on the House Science Committee and recently stated that “All that stuff I was taught about evolution and embryology and the Big Bang Theory, all that is lies straight from the pit of Hell.” Adding to the embarrassment is that Broun is a Medical Doctor. You can watch Broun in action at http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rikEWuBrkHc
I'm from Georgia but the good news is I now live in England so chances are the people who know me here aren't aware of this person. The pity is, nobody ran against him. The funny thing is, Charles Darwin was a write-in candidate and got thousands of votes but I suspect most of those voters were students at the University of Georgia, but there are almost 35,000 students and I would have expected better of them.
As one can see, just because you are a doctor doesn't make you an ignorant idiot. I'm not from Georgia, but I have two young grandchildren who are and this blatant denial of reality scares me as I wonder what their education is going to consist of.
Darwin should have run a harder campaign, from the dead; his campaign manager was Jerry Garcia......
Being knowledgeable is not a pre requsite of any of the committees that the Do Nothing Congress appoints...actually not really sure if knowledge is even a pre requsite for election to any office! It occurs to me that the Tea Party as a whole falls into the study about how easilly manipulated the under educated and religiously addicted really are.
Sometimes I think the more ignorant they are, the better their committee assignments are.
i really wish most of the GOP, especially boehner, cantor, and ryan, would be brought up on charges of violating article 6 of the US constitution already....
Speaking of drones..I find it amusing how the party of Bush applauded Cruise Missles flying through Baghdad,Smart Bombs blowing up bridges and blasting bunkers , are so upset over the use of drones. I was not aware that drones were so much worse than cruise missles.
Daddy Warbucks....May Zeus strike you down with a THUNDERBOLT...zap..poof...gone...
Wailin' Van Palin 'wusses' out on republicants......
http://www.politico.com/story/2012/12/sarah-palin-sorry-for-calling-gop-wusses-84550.html?hp=l2
Isn't she on her 16th minute of fame, with the wheels falling off? I like her style, as she just manages to piss everyone off!
Rachel,
This is what I want to know. What job on this continent lets you take such a huge leave of absence and come right back to work? If you choose to run for president you need to step down from your job. You are not capable of fulfilling the oath of office you took. Why as a nation do we allow this?
A president should have the right to campaign, and remain president. Have you heard of 'multi tasking?' Why do you bring this up now? Do you want to look at his library card application? I am afraid that issues like this will force people into a four year campaign cycle. I guess I have to step down from my job if I go back on maternity leave? I think you have a good heart, but the wrong tack on the issue.
@Rich,
Why are all the trolls crying about a vacation. When did the POTUS go on vacation? Does the right consider his current campaigning a vacation?
I think I want my representatives going out and interacting with the people so that they know what is going on in the real world. Not stuck in some DC or Fox bubble.
Lips that touch Fox News, shall never touch mine.
I think that Rich might have been referencing the story about Ryan? Perhaps not. But either way, people currently in office are going to run for relection or for higher office. I really don't see any good way around that. Campaign finance reform could help.
@BBTX
I have seen a few different trolls scream about a vacation. I was curious if that is what the right was calling the current POTUS road trip. I do not have any exposure to Fox News except for what I see on MediaMatters.
I am all for campaign finance reform.
Hmm....I have had 7 heart attacks, mild and no damage. All because of misdiagnosis. Classic male heart attacks in a female. I am sure if I was a man and if I had his money and doctors I would never had gone past 1. 4 stents later...I am ok.
They said, becareful with stress. I am here and went through bankruptcy and mortgage loan modification and lost jobs and NO STRESS there.
My point; My book would be better.
What evil lurks in the heart of a Dick Cheney? The shadow knows!
Most of America knows...
Lesman
That should be "Who know what evil lurks in the heart of Dick Cheney.. the Shadow knows! mmmuuuhhhhaaaa" The Shadow was one of my father's favorite radio show when he was growing up. :-)
No, you're alive today because you are rich, Dick. The cemetaries have occupants who were too poor and underinsured to afford those tremendous advances.
Would I deny such benefits to you, even if given the opportunity? Most certainly not. I don't play god.
Does your preferred party work diligently, both through media and official lanes, to deny such benefits to others? Most certainly. Perhaps you could reflect on that disparity and your part in it while you are "enjoying the finer things in life."
He will donate a portion of his profits? He gets his health care free. They had to replace his black heart and now it seems he has blackened this one. Until everyone can get the same care at the same price it is the height of audacity to take a penny for others work of saving his sorry ass.
And Palin still screams about 'death panels.' My wife could get really sick at a steep price to pay, unless the blacklist ends, the ACA comes in, and she can get affordable health care; you can't get on a 'death panel' unless you can get health care! Uncle Dick got sick, down in the bunker......
An unrepentant Cheney will probably title his book; "Birdshot, Iraq and Other Humorous Tales" !!!
The book about when Dick Cheney is just way too intense. Expressly the chapter of when he was a child who was already a prodigy at smashing in heads of kittens with bricks and how he use to laught at drowning baby birds in a buckets of water. Sorry but I really do think this: When Cheney is dead this world will be a much better place to live in.
Dick Chaneys mother should have flushed him down the toilet while his bones were still soft.
Regarding the UN Treaty on protecting people with disabilities, this is what is floating around in emails and on FB with NY state and I imagine just the names and numbers are different in other states. How can we deal with such stupid?
Call Senators Shumer and Gillibrand to vote against CRPD bill which would allow the government to control treatment to special needs children and the elderly. Shumer's phone number is 202-224-6542 and Gillibrand's is 202-224-4451. Call immediately - vote is 12/4/2012.
This morning I have been looking back at the history of the Solidarity Sing Alongs that happen every day in the Wisconsin capitol building in Madison. The new chief of Capitol Police, David Erwin, has been ordering his officers to hand out citations to the Singers for things like disorderly conduct (one singer was charged with "walking in a circle" in the rotunda). More than 100 tickets have been issued, but the singers still meet and still sing over their lunch hours. The tickets are more of an annoyance than anything else, but they are expensive. I'm wondering - might it be time for you folks to check back in on what's going on in Wisconsin? We are still fighting in the ways that we can - the Solidarity Singers, the Overpass Light Brigade, educational forums and discussion groups at many venues, including the Public House - our cooperatively owned bar in the Riverwest neighborhood in Milwaukee. Here's a couple of links:

Please, don't forget Wisconsin. We're cooler than ever. :)
Please shine more of your "light" / influence on this scuttling of the UN Treaty Protecting People with Disabilities!!! This needs as much publicity as the fiscal cliff. What is the matter with these people that they have politicized this issue!
The teapubs have lied about everything they have ever promoted including this treaty. They don't know how to do anything else, including voting against their own bills if they help the peons anywhere instead of the rich.
please start interviewing leaders of native american communities. they struggle for freedom and social justice. they are easy to contact. how about having winona laduke on your show? she is amazing: http://nativeharvest.com/winona_laduke
diversify your news stories, please.
