Remember that Georgia Senate leader, the Republican who held a meeting for his caucus about President Obama's secret UN mind-control plot? Remember how the progressives from Better Georgia released sneak video of that meeting, and then the Georgia Republican decided not to run for his leadership spot again?
Now that same Georgia Republican is leaving the state Senate entirely. Republican Governor Nathan Deal arranged for him to get a job of some sort at Georgia Public Broadcasting. Jay Bookman of the Atlanta Journal Constitution writes:
Sen. Chip Rogers had become an embarrassment to the Georgia Senate that he served as majority leader, to the Georgia Republican Party and to the entire state of Georgia. His strange obsessions, from a ban on involuntary chip implantation to conspiracy theories about Agenda 21, made him a laughingstock nationwide. His long-concealed history in the sports gambling business and ethical questions, including efforts to wriggle out of responsibility for a defaulted bank loan, compounded the embarrassment.
But most importantly, as majority leader, Rogers helped to preside over a state Senate that had become dysfunctional. He needed to be gone. After voters in his north Georgia district were given the chance to do so but failed, other means had to be arranged.
And yes, Senator Rogers will not literally be hanging out with Big Bird. He is supposed to create a "new programming initiative that will examine current economic development trends and spotlight job-creating companies throughout the state." Or something.

Seems the voters in Ga. love their nuts?
Dang it. I just know there's a "Slap Chop" joke in there somewhere!

Wow , and these ppl are allowed to roam-freely , let alone, be apart of the ppl and political system that actually run our country ? Incredible and astounding ; Do they also were antenna's on their tin-foil helmets ?
Great. He can don a giant banana costume and slip on himself.
He does seem unusually sane for the Georgia GOP. No wonder he doesn't fit in any more.
These folks need to take their meds.........regularly............then go home.
No state, no party, deserves a loon like this... not even the Georgia GOP.
.
Rogers is quite a Peach.
.
Eat a peach?
I'd like to see every one of these people debate Big Bird.
So I live in Chip Rogers' district (until recently Rep Tim Price's district as well). Chip ran unopposed, as we Democrats and progressives are few and far between in northern Georgia. I am friends with Chip on Facebook, and decided to cast a "NONE ABOVE" write in this November after he posted a link to a reactionary free online history course espousing the evils of progressive politics and the related adverse effects on America. Like the Civil Rights Act.
I truly hope some Democrats will step up in Cherokee County, GA. But it's doubtful. Most Republicans ran unopposed here, from City Council to judges and the Tax assessor.
Here is a link to the course Chip was pushing:
https://constitution.hillsdale.edu/
Constitution 201 is a new 10-week online course examining American progressivism: its historical roots and principles; its rejection of America’s founding principles and Constitution; its political successes in the New Deal, the Great Society, and in recent years; the ongoing political debate between progressives and conservatives; and the chance of a constitutional revival.
Bobby, I agree Democrats and progressives are few and far between in Georgia. My husband and I make 2 in this community. We also vote "none of the above" when warranted. We are ashamed of those in power who continue to give Georgia a bad reputation.
BobbyTinGA, are you involved in your local party? We do have an active Democratic Party here in Cherokee County. You can find us on Facebook or on our web site. If you want to be involved, we will put you to work!
Don't laugh. The Republicans have been using the takeover of statehouses and governor's seats since 2010 to appoint right-leaning Public TV board members to take control of content. The "new programming initiatives" mean airing revisionist propaganda masquerading as documentaries. I think they envision a Public Fox.
It sounds more like someone made this man a promise. Why are all these Romney supporters getting new jobs? A lot of broken promises and blackmail doesn't belong in our new agenda of moving our great Country forward. Corruption is old news, bring on the new players. Washington D.C. goes Hollywood was never a good idea. We need grown-ups who will take our future and that of our childrens' seriously. I just hope there aren't too many layers of fraud throughout our goverment.
"new programming initiative that will examine current economic development trends and spotlight job-creating companies throughout the state."
Or other words, "we are going to out you in a room by yourself and see if we can keep you away from the rest of us"
Keep up the good work Better Georgia!
"Sen. Chip Rogers had become an embarrassment to the Georgia Senate that he served as majority leader, to the Georgia Republican Party and to the entire state of Georgia."
Oh puhleeze, He's perfectly representative of the Georgia Republican Party. They should put him in charge of the whole stupid state.
Sounds like he got a job where he can prop his feet on his desk and sleep for 7 hours. IOW, he'll be more productive than at his last job.
Go to the Better Georgia Facebook page. This was set up 4 days BEFORE the election! For more details on how slimy Chip Rogers is, look here: https://www.facebook.com/home.php#!/pages/Will-the-Winner-aka-Senator-Chip-Rogers-Please-Step-Down/198651746858030?fref=ts
