Absolutely love it!
Regarding the fiscal cliff: The Republicans want to raise the age for Medicare to 67! That is the trophy they want for agreeing to the end of the Bush tax cuts.
This must never happen, it is immoral and expensive. The white house has a hot line. Call and voice your opinion: 1-202-456-1111!
They listen, and the people must be heard before it's too late to stop them. The president must not give in and put the safety nets on the table for these wolves to devour.
If the T-Party wins, America loses.
So you want people that could put your life a risk, or save it, to work beyond being able to perform at their best? You want a 69 year old behind the wheel of that truck hauling 120K down the highway at 55 to 70 MPH? Guess what clown, the body wears out. We may live longer but that deasn't mean that we can continue in the profession we've done all our lives. It wouldn't break my heart to have you encounter that truck while he has a stroke or heart attack.
There are people over 100 alive, too, but they don't run marathons.
If the life expectancy is 70, that means that nearly half don't make it. Who is it, do you guess, that doesn't live that long? ...the people who have had good medical care, adequate nutrition, good dental care, clean water to drink and clean air to breathe their whole lives after having had the best prenatal care available?
Many of the people who don't NEED Medicare and Social Security benefits are unable to empathize with those who DO need them. That is exactly the point to the parable of the rich man getting into heaven being likened to passing a camel through the eye of a needle.
You have eyes but do not see, ears but do not hear.
His retirement comes out of his and his employers check. His health inssurance, Medicare comes out of his check and monthly premiums. Why can't you learn something? OH, that's right. You're a rightie.
Actually, 49.4, taxpayers voted and polled. It would appear that they are a little tired of your negativity. But do keep on, the more guys like you open your mouths, the more people see that ignorance doesn't just lie with the people the Cons supported for office. The average Con also holds pathetically uninformed views. Democrats are working toward a society in which we all have access to the means to participate.
We have to remember we are FOR something. Negativity is poison and contagious. We can't let the ill-tempers of the Cons contaminate the path we are trying to navigate. We are on the good side of history, ethics, and a strong economy. We are looking for innovative ways to solve problems social and economic. We are the party of diversity, and controversy is a foundation from which we evolve. We can direct the conversation, we can control the movement in a life-affirming, transformative direction. Republicans gave it away this year. They fumbled really bad - now it is up to us to hang together.
Love the story, Pondering2.
Very clever!
First thing Obama should say on Jan2 - "So, how do you intend to pay for that middle class tax cut that you now want?"
Tell the GOP House to pass the Jobs Bill and create over 3 million jobs.
Still Playing Chicken with the Economy
* Back when Mark Twain was piloting steam powered paddleboats up and down the Mississippi River, competing vessels sometimes became locked in speed races. These competitions often had less to do with profits than personal pride. Far to often, boiler explosions occurred, killing many of the paying customers and destroying the boat. In the wake of any one of these tomfoolery events, governments often stepped in to limit farther mayhem by sighting consumer protection rules. Most of today’s Wall Street and big business folk have enough money for three life times. Blowing up the economy has more to do with childish pride than honest profit.
I believe we all should look at the people that were elected that had anything to do with the foundations that contributed to their elections. They all have no concept of what this country is all about. 99% of Americans want to work and are not free loaders. I am sure that there are flaws, yes, but people will have their voice the next election.
Tired of right wingers lying about having a "create jobs" policies. If only the media would ask exactly what those policies include.... Besides make the rich richer..
I welcome the fiscal cliff, cut the military in half, raise taxes on everybody, if we have a need for a military we will use the draft (and not allow any GOP luxurious deferments, potentially in far away places!). Amercia* will not be so eager to go to war with that looming over our heads.. and then? We'll force the wealthy to spoon feed entitlements to a nation of teet-sucking lampreys who prey on food stamps and welfare programs in neighborhoods that almost always have all kinds of other job opportunities and educational advancement potential.. Why conceptualize altruism when you can blame the lack thereof on a poor scapegoat or two with no money and a dwindling potential to participate in the voting process?! Well played GOTP, well played!
