Last week, there was a bit of a stir surrounding Rep. Virginia Foxx (R-N.C.) upbraiding a House staffer riding with her in a "members only" elevator. Foxx reportedly said to the staffer, "This is a 'members-only' elevator; can you read?" before demanding the aide exit at the next floor.
For the record, the signs at the elevators say they are reserved for members of Congress "during votes." Foxx, according to The Hill report, didn't care.
As it turns out, the article brought out others who faced similar treatment (via Jamison Foser).
One tipster recalls it was either the first or second week of his congressional internship in October of last year when he was running an errand to a committee room, and still had a "healthy fear of the members-only elevator."
But after seeing a parcel deliveryman hop on one of the lifts in the Longworth House Office Building, our source stepped on, too. The deliveryman got off on the next floor, and that's when Foxx got on.
Our insider says the congresswoman asked if he had seen the "members-only" sign outside the elevator before demanding his name and the office he worked for.
The aide added, "She walked up to a [Capitol] police officer and told on me for riding on her elevator, and he was as dumbfounded as I was."
Then another House staffer said he, too, was reprimanded by Foxx in the members-only elevator, in which she asked whether he could read and demanded his congressional ID.
Raise your hand if you think Virginia Foxx cares just a little too much about elevators.

Stop and think about it. She doesn't know, or care, what the sign says or about the rules for riding in the elevator. So what does she even know about the bills she's voting on?
Democrats have already amply demonstrated that knowing what's in a bill before voting on it is not necessary.
Shooter has already demonstrated he lacks a basic idea of American politics. That's why he mulls around a blog that is the exact opposite of his ideas.
It's called Confirmation Bias. And it's really pathetic. Be careful of those meddling kids shooter. There's a reason that a super majority of republicans are old time white men, they're stuck so far in the past they don't know how America works now.
The democrats know exactly what they're voting on, but the GOP always wants to keep America from moving forward. At least the dems don't filibuster themselves. LOL
Damn. Is there a single Republican counterfactual alternate universe myth that you don't know so well that you can spew them up on command?
Shooter is still peddling that old canard? Ridiculous.
Did you folks know that this site has an ignore list feature? If you click on someone's user name, you're taken to a profile page. On the right side is a set of links, including one that says "Ignore This Author". You can use that to clean up the forum of morons, losers, and trolls like, oh, say, Shooter242.
shoots, our chief liar in residence. Nice to always know that he'll never be able to actually support his little bits of false witnessing.
Raise your hand if you think Virginia Foxx can't read signs (or anything else).
Can a woman be a dick?
It does appear as though the stairs would be out of the question.
I say make her take the stairs for the rest of her term.
Ahh, priorities are a wonderful thing.
She has that look on her face like Bachmann - "the lights are on, but NO ONE is home"! And this is best person to represent North Carolina, wow! Frightening! Course her attitude is that she is above the "little people" and how dare they ride in her elevator! SMH!!
Vote her out she's old, senile, and ignorant!
From the look on her face, I'd say it's been years since her elevator "went all the way to the top".
The trouble with ignorance is that it picks up confidence as it goes along.

;-)
Foxx's actions are those of someone who is extremely insecure. She lacks a sense of self-worth, probably for good reason based on her legislative career. People like that have to belittle and demean others in an attempt to make themselves seem more important.
Her actions reflect poorly not only on her, but also on those who elected her.
Based on my observations from here inside her district, I've concluded that she's mostly just one of those miserable people who thinks it's her mission in life to inflict the maximum possible amount of misery on those who aren't just like her. She spits acid at those who aren't just like her like the dilophosaurus in Jurassic Park. She was one of 11 to vote against Katrina relief. She said Matthew Shepard's murder wasn't a hate crime and implied he had it comin' on the floor of the House while his mother was in the gallery. In 2006, as one her first acts as a subcommittee chair, she held a field hearing in the district on illegal immigration entitled, so help me god, "Gangs, Fraud and Sexual Predators: Struggling with the Consequences of Illegal Immigration."
She's just an awful, awful, hateful, miserable excuse for a human being. And the worst thing about her is that unlike people like Bachmann or Steve King or Paul Broun or Louie Gohmert, she usually maintains a low profile. She stays in the shadows, accumulating favors owned and a huge barrel of campaign cash she never has to spend on herself because she hasn't faced a credible challenger since she was first elected. So, instead spending it to defeat the tragically outmatched, unfunded, unsupported ordinary citizens who keep stepping up to run against, she quietly spreads that cash around to other, like-minded loons, earning herself still more favors.
So its only rarely that all of the things that make her, in her own, special, miserable way, a leading contender for the Most Awful Person in Congress award draw national attention.
That photo of her face should be in the dictionary under "anus."
How long has she been in office? Has she had much challenge at re-election?
From the look on her face, I'd say it's been years since her elevator "went all the way to the top".
Actually (h/t to the character in Bullets Over Broadway who said this): "her brain doesn't connect to her spinal cord."
Another example of the elite showing their contempt for anyone that is beneath their own exalted station in life. I bet she'd love the caste system!
Pretty much. She doesn't care about the rules, but she's showing how much of an elite she is that she doesn't have to breathe the same air as the common folk.
Speaking of elite, did I miss the mention of Rep Moran's son fracturing the skull of his girlfriend, and getting probation? It sure is nice to have a dad who understands that sometimes you just have to show women who's boss. /s

Awwww Blankman - sticking up for your ignorant friends while equating something unrelated - that's a GOTP'er for you all right.....Night night, now stop meddling in grown folks conversation.
See, THUG'S do exist in other Types of Job's!! No denying this one.
There's nothing worse than an elitist who's too ignorant and stupid to even realize it! Off with her head, as they used to say. For @!$%#'s sake, it's an elevator lady..
Why does she want the elevator to herself? Does she use the elevator for her fart-time? Inquiring minds want to know.
Her arrogance is surpassed only by her ignorance.
She's just waiting for Steven Tyler to find her. Wuv in an elevator living it up till I hit the ground.
It's a lack of control in one's life that is causing the hyper vigilance, Do as I say syndrome. The elevator is just the tool being used to exert some measure of control that is lacking in other areas of her life.
Either that or she's a Republican.
the elevator is not the tool here.
Raises hand and says oh the poor old dear is confused she is a public servant not the Duchess of Romania, but that is what happens when you elect people who believe they are superior beings.
If only she paid as much attention to her constituents needs.
Yes, she is way too obsessed with who rides the elevator but is she actually right? If the sign says "Reserved for Members of Congress during votes" does that mean only members can use it and only during votes and no one, not even members can use it at any other time or does that mean when there is a vote only members can use it and any other time its open to all? Seems the wording could be a little better.
Oh, please. Why would the elevator be off-limits to EVERYONE except during votes? The only time an elevator is off-limits to everyone is during a fire, or maintenance.
The sign was put up because once upon a time somebody missed a vote because there were too many people in the elevator stopping at too many floors.
Virginia Foxx is an elitist and a bully. She probably realizes that the rule is in effect only during votes, but she intimidates newbies and underlings into getting off the elevator.
It is the sort of prerogative you insist on when you have no other distinction.
Mrs.Virginia Foxx Gomert.
Aw cut her some slack, she can't know every little detail about the House and its rules, After all, she's only been there for EIGHT F***ING YEARS!
She is the poster woman for class warfare. She's simply exercising her right to act better than, it's all an act. This is the Booby prize you get for being a member of the house, you get to yell at people below you, and spit on them and you get to be elevator monitor or hall monitor. If it's because they're afraid, well, they have only themselves to blame for that one. Never underestimate the 99%. Some people who get a job like she has, let's it all go to her head. That's the only reason she works there is to gain some pretentious attitude of being better than, while stepping all over the Middle class. Shame, shame.
Elevator Police. Yeah..I'm sure that's what her constituency elected her for.
I know this sort of behavior from people you ought to be able to respect kind of sets me off center long enough to where I usually lose the opportunity but has anyone been able to stand up to this bully yet?
I wonder what would happen if someone just looked at her like she was crazy, stayed in the elevator, and continued on to their intended floor?
you would be brought up on charges:
intentionally causing a republican head to asplode.
Raise your hand if you think Virginia Foxx has actually read the sign...
Raise your hand if you think she looks like she just sucked on a lemon.
sounds like an unhappy power hungry person who is not happy with the election results and uses her position to strike out at people
She's just a nasty OLD lady with a false sense of entitlement......how about bitter.
I would have turned my back on her and put her on ignore.....really piss her off!
She was a teacher. The Teacher from the Black Lagoon! She strikes as the kind of teacher who'd go go road her class and whack kid's on the knuckles with a ruler if she thought they had gotten out of line
Would someone PLEASE give this woman an enema?
and then according to hitch - you could bury her in a matchbox.
She just hasn't had any for a long time by the look on her face. Nudge, nudge you know what I mean, know what I mean, wink, wink.
Say no more! Say no more! A nod is good as a wink to a blind man!
