That is all.
holy ---- what is up with these creeps? who put them in seats of authority????????
Voters.
idiots
It's a shame how they are trying to de-sensitize rape by talking about it so frequently. If you are a judge and you do not have any intellegience then you should be fired. Aren't they required to take some sort of IQ test before becoming a judge.
No, even Orly Taitz could be a judge. All that is required is a law degree.
Willow, and stupid voters. Which we have many of.
Again it's shown that men shouldn't be making decisions on women's issues. So this woman had to be willing to be mutilated for this judge to consider her a true rape victim.
I was appalled by the article concerning the CA judge...though I can now understand the efforts to ban Sharia law in this country. Obviously this particular judge supports such a system and believes the woman is responsible unless there is extensive and verifiable vaginal damage.
What does Sharia law have to do with this? That is practiced somewhere else, not here in America.
Angel, it seems this judge would prefer to stone the victim because she did not "resist" as there was not enough physical evidence to demonstrate a legitmate rape. One argument I hear from the far right as justification to opposing Sharia law...ironic that a political party uses women's rights to oppose one form of jurist prudence while attempting to enact laws that limit a woman's rights.
That is as American as apple pie is. Really Muslims were not the first people to stone victims for not resisting attackers. Nor is the US any better as up until the 1990's it was often the courts in the US that decided wives and live in female room mates could not be raped by the person they lived with. In fact it wasn't until the 1960s that sex was no longer a woman's duty, even though to this day there are christian churches that still believe women are there to OBEY their husbands desires. So get off this anti Muslim talking point nonsense already.
His admonishment read in part "outdated... and biased." It would have been nice to see the word
WRONG!!!
Otherwise it remains a dispute over style, not substance. Jeez.
I really don't understand the teapubs outrage at Sharia Law when it appears they follow it and even enact laws that border on Sharia Law. Blaming the victim in a rape is just one small example.
I'm beginning to think that is why teapubs want to invade other countries so much. They want to look over their laws, pretend they are spreading democracy when in fact they are stealing resources and their laws that suppress others to use them here.
Ok. So I'm exaggerating. Or am I?
What am I reading? http://www.cnn.com/2012/12/14/opinion/rothkopf-susan-rice-outcome/ - I saw the headline "A Lucky Day for Susan Rice" and immediately thought "WHAT?" But as I read this article, I can only agree. I am writing Lindsey Graham and John McCain a letter to tell them how shortsighted and partisan I believe they are. I think John Kerry would make a great SOS, that's not the point - their behavior was so 'grade school'. It's time for them to grow up....but of course that's not in their DNA.
I really think that all of their talk was meant only to get Kerry out of that Massachusetts senate seat, because they think Brown will get it. Evidenced by his "goodbye" speech yesterday, where he said, "I may be back. So I won't say good bye forever." They are hoping he'll get that seat. However, the Democrats in Massachusetts have a really good potential Senator in the wings, waiting to see if Kerry goes to SOS. And Brown will have to work even harder for this Senate seat than he did the last that he lost.
Who?
If you look at the history of McCain, which I did when he was in the running for President in 2000 (so I didn't need to look in 2008), he has a history of "sticking it" to dems and especially females. He loves to harass females and knock them off their pedestal and more so if they are dems. It's another notch in his belt.
He's never been a maverick, only in his own mind. Sad that losing the nod in 2000 and then losing his run for President in 2008 has affected his brain even more than his usual nasty antics. He's losing all the lies he built up about his legacy to be remembered as a vicious, cranky old man.
Rachel I want to thank you for all the Michigan coverage. Michigan is being taken over by tyranical republicans that are forcing laws on us that are extremist to say the least. In the last week they have passed so many controversal laws, I cant even list them all (I dont even know them all). Our government no longer represents its citizens. We voted to end the emergency manager, so they just rewrote it changing a couple things and passed a new law with apropriations on it so we cant vote to repeal it (which is what they are doing with all these new laws). The Emergency manager law basically removes elected officials and replaces them with a form of a dictator (truly - they have complete control of the city and can do whatever they want, removing all power from elected officials). They have passed 3 new abortion laws, banning insurance from covering abortion, allowing health officials to decline dispensing care if it goes against their morals, and requiring clinics to get licenses and a bunch of other things that will basically put them all out of business. We will now be one of the strictest states for abortion rights in the country.
They busted our unions (you know the ones that fight for middle class job conditions, and also support the democratic party, so they will have less competition come voting time), they have redrawn our election districts so its almost impossible to vote them out of office, AND on top of that they just passed new laws that will make it almost impossible for us to recall them from office. So we have weaker unions so less funding for demorcrats, we cant vote them out, we cant recall them, we cant bring these laws up on referandum to get rid of them, and they are passing laws they as a state we voted against in the election. We are not being represented. And the media isnt even covering it. The majority of our citizens dont even know how far the republicans have went to take over our state. Something needs to be done, but there's nothing we can do since they took our rights away from us. Michigan is an overwhelmingly democratic state, around 350,000 more votes for democratic state legislators than republicans, yet we are governed by republicans by a severe majority because of their restructuring. We need more media coverage, we need the federal government to do something. We need our rights back!
QUESTION.
DOMA. From the article, it appears that the House is authorizing and spending this money on their own.
Does anyone know? Does the House have a slush fund, so to speak, that they can dip into to fund these types of things?
The House certainly can't authorize and spend money on their own.
john mccain for sos
Ms Maddow; do you think the US Congress should reflect the Japanese model, in that, if the Lower House is obstructing bills, it can be 'dissolved' by the Senate/Upper House leading to elections for 'new"members?
This is an interesting idea but with all the idiots in the Senate, I don't think anyone could effectively deliver.
another interesting news week comes to a close

Rice’s Blunt Style Endeared Her to President, but Not All
http://www.nytimes.com/2012/12/14/us/susan-rices-bluntness-endeared-her-to-president.html?hp&_r=0
Senator Hold, Senator Block, Senator Filibuster and the Nominations are Sen. John McCain, Sen. K. Ayotte, Sen. Lindsey Graham.
As all Umpires know this is not acceptable.
Beware of Bitter Old Men, Seeking Glory in the destruction of Obama.
This is what happens when you attempt to appease the enemy. John McCain has not forgotten the failed predictions of his father, and is digging his own grave and is willing to take others with him. May the oil companies will pay taxes sufficient to pay for the U.S. Military invasion of the Middle East.
Sen. John McCain, Sen. K. Ayotte, Sen. Lindsey Graham are Obama's enemies, the tactic used combination of Southern Civil war and a Texas Council Strategy (Council House Fight: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Council_House_Fight )
They used 'Obama's' strength against him, in the same way that Lincoln's First Inaugural outlined the futility of civil way, and definitely laid out the promise not to ever take military action against the south. The treacherous southern strategists sought to counter this famous and persuasive speech by starting the war themselves. The southern strategy worked because by attacking the north first; all of Lincoln's words would ring true throughout history the warning, warning that the consequence of that civil war would motivate the southern forever against peace with the north.
The fact that 'Obama' as successfully baited in to the trap set by the Republican conspirators, means that his Second Term stands to be destroyed. To be futile, to be brought to null. (McCain et tu, Brute)
This is the length and depth of Republican hatred for what America has become, for Republicans feel that all America has been lost. So it is perfectly reasonable for Republicans to turn the Middle East, the world energy supply, into a war zone of for no other reason than to restore power to themselves. Yes the Republicans like the South 150 years ago wished to and set about to turn the nation into rubble, to destroy the energy supply to strangle the economy, to feed the military, caring not for their enemies, not for their allies, not for their friends and not for their country, but only that their own names go down in history.
The die has been cast led by not just one John McCain, but also all the John McCains (III, Jr., Sr.), driven by irrational fear and all too cunning attack, attack, attack.
In one word Senators RESIGN!
The only action Obama can now take, against this blatantly and treacherous attack is to make sure his enemies are hit so hard that they cannot recover.
Yes Mr. Lincoln (Obama) you will have to counter the attack now, as you can see that the enemies of American have taken up all the time that we and that they have penetrated to the heart of America's future.
Your only effective counter to this is to identify which of your many, many enemies led the killers to the planned 9/11 murder of the Ambassador.
Obama must save his own presidency, it is not enough to win, and your enemies must lose, or their treachery will make lasting peace and prosperity impossible.
Obama should never have made the Rice withdrawal public; he simply needed to choose someone else. Why allow Republicans to dictate his Administration and to further embolden this by publicly handing them a win?
Now vags come with locks?
Wow, didn't know...can I have keyless entry, I'm always loosing my keys.
On my front door, you just push a button...
You pusha duh button, I ringa da bell. You ringa da bell, I pusha du button.
Rachel, please research about the depressed who go to their family dr. for help and receive psychotropic drugs which about 10% of young adult males and women have terrible reactions such as violence, paranoya, suicide, hallucinations etc and these drugs are still on the market ruining countless lives. These drugs have the biggest profits and drug co's are the biggest lobbyist, doesn't anyone make the connection? We are a prozac nation that is destroying our young adults. Everytime one of these tragedies occur I look it up and sure enough they were on psychotropic drugs in which the prescription was increased 2-3 days earlier. Drug Co's are the tobaco co's of the past, plus TV networks biggests advertisers including NBC! What a shame profit and power over human life. of course the network would never publicize this it would hurt their bottom profit line!!!!
