the problem is that almost all of congress are members of the top 1% earners and wont vote to raise their own taxes, they don't represent the public.

Question: How many Democrats does it take to find a spine? Answer: Let me know when you find out.
Question: how many republicans does it take to come up with a thought? Answer: none they let others do the thinking for them, thinking requires work and everyone knows republicans only whine about hard work while doing their best to avoid it then point fingers elsewhere believing they are fooling others about their hard work.
Whom, I would have put it this way:
Question: How many Republicans does it take to change a light bulb? Answer: 243. That's 1 rational long dead Republican like Eisenhower to change the light bulb, and 242 House Republicans to all go batsh*t crazy simultaneously, pissing and moaning about how Obama is coming for your incandescents and will lock you up in a FEMA camp if you don't use CFL's.

Asked if Democrats would accept further concessions — spending cuts or lower tax revenue — Pelosi was nonplussed.
“In return for what?” she asked.
For 120 Republican votes — half of Boehner’s conference.
“No, no, no,” Pelosi laughed. “The package is the package. It’s not about us, it’s about what it means to America’s great middle class.”.............................................................. It sounds as if at least the Senator has enough group spine gathered at this point.
So the NRA came out and made a statement yesterday. People need to stop blaming them they don't pass laws. They have the right to freedom of speech and the right to buy any politician they want. Stop getting angry at them blame the people who take their money.
Rachel, you are a very effective advocate for the causes you believe in. Here is my suggestion (I sent the same suggestion to my Senator): every evening either at the beginning or the end of your show, read the names of those who have been gunned down that day...Or you could do it once a week...and you could suggest the same to your colleagues on MSNBC.I believe it would have an impact.
Clara, I really like your suggestion. I would suggest that to avoid people getting used to the spot and tuning it out, that the spot be aired at different points during the broadcast. Also, I would like to see a brief biography of at least one of the victims of gun violence in each spot, with the permission of their families, of course. This would help to make the impact of gun violence even more real to people. Americans really need to have the impact of gun violence made real and immediate; if it is just abstract names and numbers, it is too easy to ignore.
NRA members have to quit the NRA to show that they favor sensible gun laws that ban assault weapons, large magazines and gun sales that are made without background checks.
Okay. I just watched Larry Pratt, Gun Owners of America, on MSNBC. He wants teachers to be armed, certified on their own dime of course, as the solution to the problem. Apparently besides being responsible for the success of children they don't have control over once they leave the classroom in order to get paid, now they have to be crime fighters too. These gun nuts (and I'm not saying that everyone who owns a gun is a gun "nut") are obsessed with an inanimate object. Isn't obsession a mental illness? It's very upsetting that every dialogue in this country anymore is an extreme. We need to get real people and be reasonable.
Good luck with that Betsy, common sense has left the building,,,

*Like the Koch brothers or of course Karl Rove or Wayne La Pierre* Me personally I think that when people just agree with other people because of the size of their wallets... Is one thing that cripples America, We can think for ourselves rather we have 2 penny's to rub together or not.. That should be the American way. Think for ones self not for what someone else wants us to vote this way or that or think this or that because the dudes with the wide wallets say we should,,,, BE INDEPENDENT Think for yourself and you might be surprised what growth spurt y...ou gain from it in your own self worth and opening your eyes and really see ,,, Lets grow America ,,Not be stuck with what has not worked in the past, The fat billfolds wants and demands,,,We are free and independent ! Lets act like it,,!, Let them be one of my kind or your kind not us being their subservient bidders for what they say is good for us because they have more money than we have cheerios or hair or tasks or anything, They say we can get clothes and toys almost all things made in china or Bangladesh or India or any other 3rd world country who do not have workers rights or unions,, Lets do it and get it done in America our way not their way,, Lets be PROUD STRONG AMERICAN"S and take this nation where it belongs ,,OUR NATION ,,The American way,, Made in America ,, Not go way off base with the notion some have, Put a cop in every school or a rent a cop or teachers having to carry a pistol,,come on,,,, If we would have opened our eyes. we could maybe have seen how much of an issue the sick guy who did the horror of the first grade massacre that we just had to wittiness had,. Is it because we where not paying attention and too wrapped up in the dudes with overflowing wealth so unhappy because with all that cash ,,President Obama still won. Putting guns in schools will do nothing but cause more deaths,, Lets learn to open our eyes and see what is going on around us and not be afraid to take care of it ,, Come America lets take our country back and treat her with Honor and pride Make MADE IN AMERICA the norm not exception. !!!! PROUD American_Pro UNION!.....
At the risk of exploiting the dead (may they rest in peace), maybe we can take page out of the Pro-Lifer's playbook (where they love to parade posters of aborted fetuses) and start protesting at NRA offices, outside of gun shops or manufacturers that sell high-powered rifles and large capacity clips and so on with posters showing the bodies that have been mutilated by repeated shots at close range. There is no way to shame LaPierre and his ilk. Absolutely NO moral compass.
How many trillions will it take to create a utopia? How many laws, statutes, regulation and agencies will it take? Riddle me this varmits !
