a) ...tap your toes and bob your head and dig this kid's groove, appreciating the way children find ways to express their creativity no matter the setting.

b) ...shout, "Who the hell is doing that banging?!? You kids, why can't you just read a book? That's it, I'm throwing out all this sugary junk, it's making you crazy! When do you go back to school?"

My guess is he's already got some hand drums. You don't just pick that up on the fly. He could give a master djembe player a run for his money.

This is a gifted percussionist. He would be at home surrounded by the drums of any traditional culture on the planet. May he thrive!
That was me about 40 years ago. (Well, I might not have been that good then.) Any surface will do as a practice kit. This kid not only has rhythm, he's got a great ear. I might have to trade in one of my drum sets for a whirlpool washer. It would probably be easier to haul to gigs.
