Where have you been RobDon? It really IS NOT Obama's job to offer up bills, but he HAS offered SEVERAL debt reduction proposals - just go look on google. Have they all been rejected? YES, but that is HARDLY HIS fault! As for what the Democrats were trying to do? Well first the proposals have to come up for a vote and Boehner has used the Hastert Rule to stop any attempts at a vote!

It is the Senate with loads of bills passed by the House that have not been brought up for a vote, amended, or even discussed.

Larry...please read up on your civics before you post and look so misinformed. The vote for the Speaker of the House position requires the winner receive 50% +1 of the votes cast. The only way that Pelosi can win the Speakers position is if about 18 GOP members vote for her...and if you think that is going to happen, you are sadly mistaken...but that would not be the first time that ever happened.

Used to be a time when talking heads were MORE interested in communicating effectively, rather than putting out the ole' razzle dazzle.
I've put up with annoying oil company propaganda (AKA commercials,) very frequent commercials and even clip after clip after clip of delusional RepugnantCONs spewing their nonsense, but the pressured speech and run-on sentence act is the last straw.
I'm sure that there are other 'consumers' that simply love Ms. Maddow , no matter what - BUT I won't be allowing myself to be tortured by this show any more.

I am so damn tired of these Jesus Freaks. Now McDonnell has essentially made abortion illegal in my home state of Virginia. Why? Because abortion is something he doesn't like based upon HIS religious beliefs.
I think it's time to start playing hard ball with these Jesus Freaks. Will somebody please enact legislation that REQUIRES every church that has a Sunday school to teach evolution. And if they don't, they lose their tax-exempt status.

@Cliff.......the only way our debt gets downgraded is if or when the Republicans refuse to pay for government services they have already authorized. Do you pay your bills Cliff? if not, expect some downgrading of your credit. If the elected GOP want to bring on a world wide recession with this proposed game of chicken, it's on them.
Cliff isn't smart enough to know how what he's parroting affects him!
MD...is that how you pay your bills...by borrowing more money to cover the commitments you have already made? A sensible person finds a way to either make more money or to cut their expenses, not go deeper into debt.

When most people go into debt they eventually pay their bills, and we will too, but let's let the "patient" recover first, huh???
How long does the patient need to recover? Right now we are deeper in debt than we have ever been before. When do we start? When does the insanity stop?

An interesting fact about numbers this size: It's hard to imagine just how large this number is. When teaching I've tried give kids an idea of the magnitude of a number by telling them how long it would to count to that number. When they try to guess they never come close, as I'm sure most adults wouldn't either. So ........ to count to 2,2800,000,000,000 one second at at time,it would take 982,328 years. ......... THAT'S YEARS! ......... We don't have enough time to pay that back, so it's no it's not just our kids we need to worry about.
Thank God someone put this in terms we can all relate to; Dollar Store values.
