Congress takes up Superstorm Sandy aid today.
Treasury Secretary Geithner wants out (again).
Sec. of State Clinton says she's coming back to work next week.
Chief Justice Roberts gets another chance to swear in the President.
Gabrielle Giffords plans to visit Newtown, CT.
A fight to make gun-registration records secret.
A mind-boggling Martian meteorite.
Meet Sutro Sam, a rare (and adorable) instance of a river otter living in San Francisco.

They had better get something DONE today on Sandy aid, or will Boehner shaft them again?
There is no doubt that the only reason Boehner kept his speakership was by "promising" this vote on Sandy the day AFTER his own vote (go figure) to all those Northeastern states Republicans.
I too was taken under the spell of Sam the river otter!! So cute!!
That otter is simply far too distracting for it's own good :D
What happened to the filibuster reform?
What a cute little soul!! Thanks for sharing!!
Someone should tell Grumpy old McCain that Soldiers, teachers, algae growers, etc are americans too! When he starts ranting about special interests getting tax breaks and that the american people should get tax breaks!
I am most interested in filibuster reform - whether it was or was not proposed, whether it did or did not pass, and the back story.
The Senate should pass a bill right now to extend the debt ceiling. The Dems should then tell the House that the decision to not extend the debt ceiling is now all theirs and they bear the entire responsibilty for the country going forward or going into bankruptcy. It's time for the teaparty to show that they are capable of understanding how the economy works.
caribbean amphibian...um, i mean reptile....

I have worked in wildlife rehab and I think that Sam might be a female. This time of year otters are giving birth to their pups. If everything works out we may be seeing vids of young otters in a few months.
Sam has found a fresh water spring right next to the ocean - so that's how he can stay there. Don't know how or why he got there. I'm thinking how lonely he must be. Perhap's John is correct and Sam is female waiting to give birth. Now that would be something!
love love love the otter. Everything else is as expected.
We sometimes have river otters visit within sight of the Golden Gate bridge http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VhqIfbGwkyY&list=UUbtn6yhAGZfP8zRqnXsbAsw&index=5

pretty amazing!
I am so glad this sweet lil critter is not living on the Alaska coast.
It's cool how they know where the meteor came from. I do disagree that nick-iron asteroids formed in space, I can only see them having come from a destroyed planet.
Fishing the Edisto one day I saw a sea serpent! Much to my surprise it turned from a series of humps into a pair of whiskered otters!
Saw a Wampus Cat once also. Putting on my glasses turned it into a buck up on its hind legs trying to get at some out of reach branches.
Sam reminds me of how great it is to roll around on a hot rock. Now if I could just find a hot rock.
