That's one small step for an old dog, one giant leap off the cliff for the naive and pure neophyte.
It's called compromise. One step at a time. And you aren't losing your innocence or purity when you do it.
So much like the GOTP the puppy doesn't quite get it, and initially is too afraid to "get how it's done" - unlike the GOTP the puppy figured it out. I'm sensing that the puppy is reality based unlike the GOTP whose imagination and bubble continue to leave them wandering around at the "top of the stairs"......
Cute puppy...
Clearly the puppy wanted to learn but the GOTP does not seem at all inclined to do that....
We Dems get the concept of nuturing; the GOP simply doesn't want to be bothered with it. And yes, this *is* applicable to the care and feeding of Human Civilization.
I think the GOP know exactly what they are doing.

I'm so blown away by the kindness of the situation I can hardly think of politicians at all, :-(
Kelsby, Me too!!
How amazing! Animals are wonderful. We have no real conception as yet, of how intelligent and thoughtful they are.
Larry 74, If you are here, link up the penguin video.
That adult dog cares about puppies far more than the GOP cares about children. I love the video!!
Like I say: the failed evolutionary experiment in creating biological intelligence that can foresee the results of its actions and modify its behavior accordingly is NOT the "intelligent species" on the planet. Animals never have to be taught kindness or concern for the community.
Well, clearly, the Adult Dog is Governor Christie and the Puppy is the GOP.
The stairs represent dealing with reality and compromise.
Except the puppy wants to learn and do it, I don't see that in the freshmen GOP.
I'm just glad it was dogs. When I saw the headline before the video appeared, I thought it was a metaphor involving Tim Pawlenty.
Doesn't the current incarnation of the GOP advocate leaving the puppy at the top of the stairs to either spontaneously learn by itself or starve?
Ali, This was definitely a Democratic dog. He did everything he could to help the puppy get down the stairs. That dog would hate the Ryan Plan.
Are we all Jonah Goldberg now? Everything doesn't have to have a tedious political moral drawn from it, particularly a silly one.
In this metaphor, Jonah Goldberg would be what the puppy subsequently left on the living-room carpet.
Too distracted by the cute to worry about paw-litics. :3
Not political but:
Who said an old dog can't teach a new trick?
No metaphors necessary...just *dying from the cute*
"I get by with a little help from my friends. . . "
The Leader of The Pack - - - (being the President of the USA) is always there to help every congressman & woman to achieve success for the country. Young congressional pups would do well to learn from a former Professor of Constitutional Law - Mr. Obama
Okay, I trust that big blond dog...so I'm going for it!
Politically, the metaphor would be something like the Democrats learning to navigate gun control laws after decades of fear of the "power" of the NRA. As Rachel proved, the NRA's power ain't all that anymore, but there are Democrats like this puppy who are still afraid to go down those stairs. How's that?
Sometimes you have to use a more dogmatic approach.
I'm sorry, but my karma just ran over your dogma...
No need to go off the cliff! We can just take one step at a time.
"Come on! Jump over the cliff! It won't hurt!"
Life could be so sweet if we just learn to help each other other out instead of just looking out for ourselves!
Repeating an action and expecting different results isn't insanity. It's Lab work.
A waste of time. Climbing stairs is not something tested on the standard achievement exam. This time could have been better spent teaching the importance of trickle-down economics.
Shouldn't the adult dog be guarding something?
with an assault weapon
Guarding something? Like what, Andy Mitchell?
Lil' Pup: I am afraid of change.
Older, wiser dog: Change is great. Try it, you'll see.
Lil' Pup: I've always been here. I am comfortable here. I have everything I need.
Older, wiser dog: But if you stay there, you'll never know what you might be missing.
Lil' Pup: I'm still afraid, but I will try.
Older, wiser dog: Don't be afraid, I will help you. See, there's nothing to accepting different things!
Lil' Pup: Ok, I'll try, here I come. Feet don't fail me now! Oh, my, its great here, so much more room. I will never be close minded again.
Moral of story: Sometimes the grass is greener on the other side if you aren't afraid to accept change.
Come on Republicans, step out of your fantasy land and into the real world, it won't hurt.
Biden: Come on, Ryan. Let me show you how it's really done.
Um...The steps represent 'Fact Checking' and 'Truth' and the puppy is 'Fox News'? The older dog is, well, a 'REAL' news network..?
