For the love of god, why must we continually endure the nonsensical ravings of Michael Steele? I change the channel every time I see that cretin.
Michael Steele is one of the few Republicans who sees life/politics as they are. He is not a far right wingnut. Yes, I meant wingnut - one that has been tightened too much and has squeezed all the common sense out of the radical wing of the Republican party. He still believes in and speaks on behalf of the majority of Republicans who are moderates. I enjoy listening to his point of view as it gives me insight on what most Rs believe in and why. He's also incredibly funny, well spoken, and polite, which are things we should all strive to be.
It was him or Pat Buchanan...
"What country can preserve its liberties, if its rulers are not warned from time to time that its people preserve the spirit of resistance? Let them take arms." Thomas Jefferson
IT'S TIME TO WALK!!!! CRAW!!!! TO WASHINGTON AND PROTEST !!!!!!!!!!!
LET THE TEA-PUBLICANS KNOW WE ARE NOT GOING QUIETLY INTO THE NIGHT!!!!!!!!!
Quote: President John Adams
Remember, democracy never lasts long. It soon wastes, exhausts, and murders itself. There never was a democracy yet that did not commit suicide. The jaws of power and Greed are always open to devour, and her arm is always stretched out, if possible, to destroy the freedom of thinking, speaking, and writing. There is danger from all men. The only maxim of a free 'government' ought to be to trust no man living with power to endanger the public liberty.
Here's a little tune for our call to our pal Harry: (Throne of Agony)
Norm Ornstein mentions the Worm turns on O'Donnell.
.
Even the lowliest of worms will turn when provoked, you grey beards of the Senate. Our Rome is burning. The party is over.
Rachel: Re your comment that Michigan will be the only state to actually fix its electoral college vote to guarantee a Republican win. You seem confident that the other states that originally planned to do this are now too embarrassed by the adverse publicity to do so. Please don’t be so confident. Whatever they say in public, you can bet that the Republicans in all these states will be working out of the radar and suddenly – POW! If the Dems drop their guard, when they least expect it, they’ll wake up one day and find the legislation delivered, signed and sealed at the speed of light.
I was thinking the same thing. Some of us heard about corrupting the electoral college in WI a month ago. It is full steam ahead here. Scott Walker passed the vast majority of his agenda already so he can sit back for years, even, and wait until no one's looking. We are the model of Alec legislation. The only "shame" I see is how curious it is that Walker, while having very close ties to ReiNCe PRieBuS, has very little to do with Lyin' Ryan or Our Dumb Senator Ron Johnson (local nicknames).
We still have a US Supreme Court.
I think that IF the Reichpublicans were smart (not gonna happen in our lifetimes-LOL), they would not RUSH to pass these Electoral College Rigging state laws until it gets a little closer to 2016. That way the PUBLIC and or the DEMS would not have time to mount either a popular or legal fight against these cheating laws.
My HOPE is that these cheaters will not get aweay with this blatant attempt to steal another Presidential Election.
I was extremely disappointed with your coverage of Mary Jo White. Matt Taibbi made very specific allegations against her in Rolling Stone, of which I'm sure you're aware. These were not at all addressed in your interview with Spitzer. It was all vague stuff about the revolving door we all already know about. What we want to know is what her answer is to these allegations, not airy stuff about whether she's got the brains to comprehend what Wall Street does.
I have no doubt she does. What I want to know is simple: is she corrupt?
I guess I watched a different segment. As far as I could tell, it was all about which Mary Jo White would we get. The tough cop or the defender of wall street. I don't think we've had a chance to interrogate her yet, Ben.
Mary Jo White worked for Spitzer. Maddow interviews Spitzer re White. Wrong person to ask, wrong questions. It was puffery. There are SPECIFIC questions to which SPECIFIC answers are needed.
My specific question is a legal one. Not knowing the law, perhaps someone else here does. Having defended the big banks previously, will she have to recuse herself from trying to prosecute them now? If so, then choosing her guarantees their protection from prosecution. It seems an obvious conflict of interests.
I don't think we can assume Obama's legal team looked at this and decided there is NO conflict. They may have chosen her precisely because they decided there would be.
The republicans taking a "hot bleach shower" to cleanse themselves of Romney's policies was a poor analogy... I don't think they can get much whiter.
The president should be elected purely by popular vote. Sign the petition to amend the constitution.

It would seem that as an attorney who represented some of the banks that the SEC regulates and may be subject to decisions by the SEC whether or not to prosecute, Mary Jo White might have an ACTUAL legal conflict because of confidential information to which she was privy while they were her clients. I assume that the Obama administration has looked at this issue and concluded that there is no conflict, but the banks will surely look at that very closely and the courts are quite strict in their interpretations of attorney-client confidentiality. I think it is worth the media taking a look at this with legal ethics experts.
The name "Michigan" allegedly comes from a Native American word, but has anyone noticed the similarity to the Yiddish word "michigas" which means "craziness"? And the personal form of the word, "meshugana" meaning "crazy" is quite similar to "Michiganer"?
I noticed that many of my comments have been collapsed by the community.Even though I've never threatened anyone, or cursed or lied. I blog over at a right leaning blog and everyone's comments are welcome and not collapsed unless is its criminal. The left doesn't believe in free speech. That's apparent.Especially on college campuses.

Good Day and don't try this at home.
I think you were intimating that you will not be blogging on this site in the future. If that was the message you were trying to convey, allow me to wish you adieu.
Never lied?
Right...
OK Rachel. Yes, I posted right after the holidays, asking TRMS to kick some a**. But I did not expect you to lessen to me !! And the truth is TRMS kicks a** on every show so it was a pretty safe bet on my part. But as an American I still want to claim credit where credit may or may not be due. Ya. I built that. Ok, we built that?? Do you feel better ?? Ya. . . . me to.
