My friend (and former MSNBC analyst) Air Force Lt. Col. (Ret.) Rick Francona spotted this animated crosswalk sign in Cabo San Lucas, Mexico. Notice what happens to the little guy as the time that it's safe to be in the crosswalk draws to an end. Seems ripe for a political metaphor, no?

It is DC traffic psychology, where the number of votes needed drives the sense of urgency for passage of a Bill.
When a large number of votes are needed, the pace is leisurely- not much sense that one should waste political energy. As the numbers needed for passage becomes lower, passage becomes more credible, and the pace picks up.
When just 2 or 3 votes more are needed, the pace becomes frenetic. When no more votes are left, effort halts instantaneously because there is no more need to twist arms or pay off potential converts when you have enough votes. Screwem for not taking a good offer when they had the chance.
PS- take a drive about an hour southwest of Cabo to the ferry to Cozumel. It used to have some excellent places not so overrun with tourists. And it is a great site for diving- the Palancar reefs are mind blowing. But if you do, get your training beforehand- the tourist trainers in Mexico are abysmal and it is surprising how few people they kill each year.

The countdown represents the number of years needed move from "undocumented/Illegal" status to getting a green card.

… undergoes background check (1 year);
will an undocumented illegal immigrant be eligible… "
Except if they have already pass away in those 50 years, or have escaped unnoticed for those 50 years, their estate will be severely billed!
Even the U.S. Senate might see the political value in the Marco Rubio Plan. (So why run away?)
