President Obama goes on the road to talk gun violence today, after sending out a pic of Obama shooting a gun at Camp David.
Of course, the Skeeters aren't convinced.
Did you make the NRA's enemies list?
Top GOP donors have a plan to prevent the next Todd Akin or Sharron Angle.

New York's governor wants to buy up homes in flood-prone areas.

Re: the NRA's "enemy" list:
Well it looks like you could side with the thoughtful caring organizations in this country who dedicate themselves to helping people , or you could side with the emotional gun nuts and the NRA. Such a hard decision.......
The Skeeters, lmao...skeet skeet skeet
In the NY times article, "the more you know Steve King, the more you like him?" OMG I live in Stevekingland and that is definitely not true for me. He's a nut. He's got one of those full page pictures on the John Birch Society pages, what does that tell you? When he comes to my town for a town hall meeting, I stay away. I always fear I will be the little old gray haired lady being carried out kicking and screaming by my elbows.
That New York Times article is symbolic of what has happened in the Republican Party over the years. Rich old white guys deciding what Republicans we all are being asked to vote for. Is it no wonder the Republican Party is so bankrupt when it comes to addressing the issues that are important to this country?
I feel insulted that I didn't make the NRA's Enemies List. Wonder what I could do to get on it?
Reading through the list of the NRA's enemies made me so proud of some of my favorite actors/musicians/entertainers. My only regret is that there doesn't appear to be a link that you can use to add yourself to the list.
So have the Birthers started in with the "OMGOMGOMG See He is practicing to lead the Kenyan Anti-Colonial Revolution on America!!!" line of conspiracy yet?
By the end of the week someone will have Photoshopped an AK-47 into that picture...
Yep, Obama with a gun is PROOF he is planning to take over the country!!!
Wouldn't it be more economical to just print a 'friend's' list? That could go fit on a post-it at this point!
True. Unfortunately a bunch of those friends are in the U.S. House and Senate. Let's listen in: "Hmmm, follow my constituents or follow the bloodthirsty lunatics with all that money from firearms manufacturers? How to choose, how to choose..."

Thanks for the link to an excellent article!
According to the norton on my computer, your link to the NRA enemies list has a malware bug and shouldn't be opened.
There is something on that website. I had to clear my cache after visiting that page. It knocked me off of this blog when I left and tried to come back. I couldn't post or even read the comments until I cleared my cache!
You two are probably on their "secret" enemies list now!

Thanks Tricia!!!
damn, i'm pissed - didn't make the NRA list. what am i doing wrong?
I am from KC and am proud that our baseball and football teams along with one of our more important investors made the list. Way to go Royals and Chiefs, you might not win on the field, but you are winners for making the NRA enemies list.
I am reminded of a line from Henry V, something about a band of brothers. Especially public corporations like NBC if you don't make the NRA enemies list you should be ashamed.
I used to be an avid hunter. I was sponsored as a member of the NRA by a friend. I lasted six months before I decided it was a big waste of money. This was 25 years ago and I thought they were nuts then. I may not be on their "enemy list", but they are on mine.
Where are the tough new laws by our "law makers/politicians" instead of just concentrating on the ban(s) ?
How about someting like this -
We need very strict tough laws dealing with gun violence, such as:
1.) Any crime committed with a firearm guarantees a MINIUM of 10 years in a FEDERAL prison. This includes firearm straw purchases(which is a crime).
2.) If a person committs murder with a firearm then execution.
Of course both the above means tried and convicted. For both of the above there would be no plea bargins, no insanity or temporary insanity pleas, no mental instability pleas, no reduced sentences, no other pleas and no age limitations.
Examples:
If a 15 yr old gangbanger is ordered by his/her gang leader to "do a hit" on rival gang members resulting in deaths and the 15 yr old is caught then rats on the gang leader, both are executed. If no deaths then both get minimum 10 years in prison.
If a person holds up a convenience store using a firearm - minimum 10 years in prison.
Wyatt-
What if the 15 year old gangbanger used the 9mm his old man keeps in his dresser drawer to do the hit? Should his old man face charges because his weapon was used to murder someone?
wine ( should I say whine?)
Bar owner and even bar tenders are considered responsible for someone who drunk drives and kill someone. Same rule applies. The "old man" you describe is an irresponsible gun owner.
Why should you say "whine"? I was only asking for some clarification, and I appreciate your response. I am a bit confused, however, about how the rule regarding a bartender over-serving a customer can be applied to someone who fails to secure their weapons. Maybe you could clarify that for me.
Thanks so much.

In the state of California a person can be held legally for someone driving under the influence who causes death or injury in a car accident. Let me find it for you. Both are responsibility issues.
Everyone responding to this blog is assuming they are
covered by freedom of speech. That is not necessarily so if you live in
Indiana. Advocates on both sides of this issue could find themselves in court
in Indiana if someone filed a complaint with the prosecutor that swears a
person feels threatened and intimidated by the others writings or speeches. The
Indiana Appeals Court ruled on January 17, 2013 in the Brewington v State of Indiana, No. 15A01-1110-CR-550 that citizens of Indiana were no longer free to blog.
UCLA Law Professor Eugene Volokh writes “This, I think, clearly
violates the First Amendment, and has a potentially very broad sweep. The law
doesn’t just apply to disgruntled litigants, but also to newspaper columnists,
advocacy groups, politicians, and so on. Under the court’s view, someone who
goes to a legislator and says, “If you vote for this law [or because you voted
for this law], we’re going to condemn you so much that your constituents will
have contempt for you and vote you out of office,” would be guilty of a crime.
Indeed, someone who simply keeps writing harshly critical columns about a
legislator’s actions, without an overt threat of future such columns, would be
guilty of a crime, too.”

Gun-savvy people, I have a question:
In the picture of President Obama firing a shotgun, most of the smoke is coming out the muzzle of the gun, as I would expect. But why is there another puff exiting laterally about 3 to 4 inches from the end of the barrel?
Can't claim to be too gun-savvy, but comments I've seen from various sites suggest that it's a vent, cut into the barrel to reduce recoil.
It's called a port, and it's an optical illusion that it's exiting out of the right side of the barrel... It's exiting straight up, and the goal is to reduce "barrel lift" for a second shot in shooting doubles...
