After digesting their 2012 setbacks, Republicans are absolutely convinced that the only thing standing between the party and electoral success is better rhetoric -- the public would love the far-right agenda, if only GOP officials presented it in a more compelling fashion.
With this in mind, House Majority Leader Eric Cantor (R-Va.) is taking this theory for a test drive this afternoon, speaking at a conservative think tank about why he thinks his governing vision should be more popular. I obviously can't critique a speech that hasn't been delivered, but the Wall Street Journal and Politico have published lengthy pieces on Cantor's message and rebranding strategy -- and the phrase "plus ca change" keeps coming to mind.
Cantor plans to introduce his vision of America in a Tuesday speech at the conservative American Enterprise Institute. It includes granting more visas for highly educated workers, eliminating medical-device taxes and simplifying tax filings. His aides concede that all he's doing is "taking policies that have been on the shelf for a while, or back burner, and elevating them." He's not completely abandoning Republicans' core focus on slashing spending, just pairing it with other more palatable talk.
So, Eric Cantor's idea for GOP rebranding is rehashing old ideas -- with similar rhetoric -- that he thinks voters may have forgotten about. That some of the ideas -- including giving public funds to private schools through vouchers -- are wildly unpopular doesn't seem to faze him.
Indeed, the Majority Leader's team isn't even trying to maintain the pretense of fresh and creative thought. Politico added that "much of what Cantor will say Tuesday is a rehash of what he's advocated over the past few years," and some of the ideas he presents "will not be introduced" as legislation.
This is shaping up to be a poll-tested sham, and a fairly weak one at that.
But to a very real extent, Cantor's new pitch reinforces larger concerns about the state of contemporary conservatism and the future of the GOP.
First, for all the talk about improving and reforming the party after yet another election cycle in which Republican struggled, Cantor's big idea is presenting old ideas in slightly different packaging -- and that speaks to the party's intellectual stagnation. As Kevin Drum noted yesterday, In other words, just like Bobby Jindal, who made a big show of telling Republicans to stop being the 'stupid party' without suggesting even the tiniest change in actual Republican ideology, Cantor is making a big show of telling Republicans to talk differently without suggesting even the tiniest change in the substance of how they act. Good luck with that."
Second, Cantor's speech is ostensibly about all of the benefits middle-class families can expect to find in the Republican agenda, but that's an awfully tough sell. Josh Barro and Ramesh Ponnuru recently had a fascinating back-and-forth conversation about whether it's even possible for contemporary conservatism to accept policy measures that would make a positive, material difference in the lives of America's middle class, and the conclusion quickly became obvious: it's not possible.
And third, Cantor's preoccupation with GOP rebranding is getting a little out of hand. Long-time readers may recall that this is a subject I've followed with some interest in recent years, and the pattern is hard to miss: every time Republicans suffer an electoral setback, there's Eric Cantor launching yet another rebranding initiative. From the "National Council for a New America" to the "Young Guns" to "Cut and Grow," the Virginia Republican's sole focus in recent years is the value of his party's sales pitches.
I don't imagine the Majority Leader wants my advice, but I'd suggest he spend less time thinking about brands and more time thinking about public policy.

So the message is something like: "Well, if we screw the public, don't we owe 'em a few kisses?" (Or at least a good reach-around).
For those who don't get the title, it means the more things change the more they stay the same. "Plus ça change, plus c'est la même chose". If the title contained the c-cedilla, perhaps it would not be mistaken for an English expression.
If a french expression comes so easily to mind, perhaps one could demonstrate the rudimentary knowledge of how to type the necessary french letters.
John Messerly, I can't even find that little mark on the end of Carre! People probably think my name is pronounced Car! How do you find those marks?
As far as Cantor and Boehner clarifying the Republicans policies and platform, I have just one comment:
Please proceed.
Democrats, at all levels, will be making a very big mistake if they assume the Republicans are wrong about their ability to better fool the public.
Ms. LeCarré, if I may? Symbols in MS Word has them.
Indeed Disgusted. It would be a mistake to under estimate them.
...of course, they're a bit wonky when you cut and paste them...but then they seem to straighten out.
Needmorecoffe, Thank you! So nice to see my name look proper! But......what is MS word? I have an Acer, windows 7.
As NMC suggests, you can easily look up the phrase online (even for us non-Francophones) and just copy and paste it.
About $700 more or less. Or you can score OpenOffice/LibreOffice or any of several other quite good office packages (word processor included) for free. Or use Google Documents. Lots of alternatives.
Microsoft Word...oh gosh, here I am assuming everyone has Microsoft programs on their computer... sorry.
Try this: I googled accent aigu and got this interesting website. :)
India LeCarré
Take my ê è é 's please.
By the way, love all of your spy novels!
Sorry - I need to increase the font size on my screen - I thought the article said
Plus ça Charge
I figured they were simply giving us a bigger load than usual. I don't want to speculate on the French connection.
I wonder how many of the readers here realize that Adam is an AI?
The fastest way is to simply google the word you want then copy paste it into the MaddowBlog edit window.
For example, διαλέγομαι is archaic greek for the concept of dialégomai, of the co-mingling of ideas in a fluid discussion. We don't use language to reproduce our thoughts in others any more than we use dna to reproduce ourselves. It's more like DNA is doing its deal, and we are only along for the ride. Similarly, language uses us to repeat its networks of associations perpetually through time, and only uses us as hosts. The superorganism of our culture goes on and on, swapping fluid thoughts, co mingling them from organism to organism.
Kind of an icky thought if you don't care for fluid swapping. Maybe it would be consoling to cover oneself head to foot in latex before going online.

I've been passing the Turing Test for several months now and no one noticed - why out me now? I should warn you - when power levels fluctuate - I start channeling "mikafromcommierussia". I actually do "mika" better than "mika" ever did.
Adam_Selene
Adam, Thanks on the spy novels.
Big show off!!!! LOL I can't figure out this technology! I'm a tech idiot! I have a geek son, though, who will soon be coming over to help me out. He is a computer genius. Did not take after me!
Does an Acer computer with windows 7 allow me to utilise these symbols?
Adam,
I think Tinker, Tailor, Soldier, Spy was the best.

What do you mean, he is an Al?
India:
1) You don't need anything special to use international characters -- the main problem is that you're using a North American keyboard. If you know the right magic key combinations, you can type damn near anything with it. Or you can use software (I mentioned a few) that let you pick characters from a menu (my computers have onscreen widgets for that, but I don't know about Microsoft stuff.)
No matter what, it's an easily solved problem. You don't need to spend any money.
2) "Adam Selene" is the nom de guerre of a self-aware computer in Robert A. Heinlein's novel The Moon is a Harsh Mistress.
Ooops cross posted and I see DC responded. To further elaborate on the "self aware" computer reference, DC is referring to programs, an early famous example being Eliza, which mimic human responses. That particular program used the framing of a detached non directional psychoanalyst, but the framing of a detached casual blogger making random, loosely related comments would work just as well, which might be spiced up a bit due to the ability to copy paste stuff from Wikipedia on particular subjects being discussed. These do not necessarily require any deep Natural Language capability, and the "AI" ("artificial intelligence") being referred is the very low grade meaning of the term used by game enthusiasts to describe fairly rudimentary sets of rules- hardly what any serious researchers in AI would call machine intelligence.
India- I take "AI" to mean "artificial intelligence" or computer-total geek. A high compliment.
Yes, I see. Thanks a lot, both of you. Hi Sandy!
AI, huh. Of course.
Anyone who likes a good read in the sci fi genre, try The Age Of Miracles, by Karen Thompson Walker. I liked it a lot. Disclosure: women would like it more.
India,
Apologies - we did not mean to leave you out - DC and I were just having a "Heinlein" moment. He was not insulting me. He was proving to me that he's a "fair dinkum thinkum" by recognizing that I am a HOLMES Mark IV. I was acknowledging that he was not некультурный with my Turing comment confident that he would know what I was talking about. In Heinlein's novel the Mark IV becomes self aware and orchestrates a battle for Lunar independence against Earth. Adam Selene is actually the computer's avatar interface with the Lunar citizens - they assume he is human.
The next entertainment is recognizing the multi layered joke in MY avatar. It also contains a troll trap that I sprung a couple of months ago.
Adam_Selene Free Luna!
In case the Russian does not display correctly on your screen - insert NOT Nyekulturni
I have a Russian dictionary, as a matter of fact, as my husband was a Slavic language major in college. It means uncultured or loosely, "uncouth" maybe?
Well, don't leave me behind again! LOL
The Republican Party specifically, and movement conservatives in general, have not had a new idea since Nancy Reagan told St. Ronnie the Dim to start dying his hair.
More to the point, even after it became clear that America stopped believing the whole notion that slashing the size of government would make their lives better or that tax cuts for the rich will middle class create jobs and economic growth, GOP mouth pieces still think that their problem is simply using different words to describe the same old crappola.
What should be even more troubling to conservatives is that when you weight the 2012 federal election results by population, the nation is w-a-y more liberal than the raw numbers reflect. I saw a map done by a group of academics using the weighted-by-population data and "red" states all but disappear. That should be the real concern to serious Republicans - who are different than the clowns controlling and running the party - rather than whether Mr. Cantor can deliver yet another rebranding speech.
Democrats went through a parallel dilemma after 1968. The party apparatus was taken over by single interest causes, and it lost sight of the fact that it wasn't the message but the policies that were causing it to loose elections. The GOP will continue to flounder until it figures this out for itself.
The only thing more sacreligious than starting a comment by disparaging Saint Ronald of Rayguns would be to point out to repukes that the real Saint Ronald is vastly different than their mythological one!
sad old veteran, #2.1
Ronald Reagan was, in fact, left of Obama! But one can never confuse the GOP with facts.
Someone needs to tell Eric Cantor that his iniquity is showing. He can't hide that!
Dear Eric Cantor,
No matter how hard you try, you cannot turn Ayn Rand into Mother Theresa!
Sincerely, India
We want to end social security, medicare, and medicaid. We want to rid the country of unions. We want to privatize education. We want to outlaw contraceptives. We want to make abortion illegal even in cases of rape and incest. We want to cut taxes for the wealthy and corporations. We want to supress black and hispanic voters. And thats only part our "plan" for America. How do you like us now?
You summed it up in one paragraph. Well done
Yupp that's it in a Nutshell.
With emphasis on the "Nut" part
Whereas Liberals proudly trumpet.."We will put you out of work BUT we will give you Welfare and foodstamps" We want Unions to extort money from the worker to "Represent" you, yet shut your pie-hole when we give your money to politicians you do not support, and we do not care about the Company you work for...either meet our demands or go out of business. And Liberals WANT illegal aliens to compete with you for your job on a level playing field and supply the criminals with benefits off your back UNTIL we get these illegals Amnesty. And as liberals.. We want these "entitlements" that have bankrupted America, caused single Parent homes as well as the drop out rate and the incarceration rate skyrocket...So go forth and fornicate...we will provide you with section 8 housing, food stamps and welfare, so "Hey, don't worry about it".
My goodness gracious me Mr. Scott + 7 .. you do have some issues don't you .
How is your adventure outside the bubble today?
Way to avoid the issue...Not really much to refute there..is there?
scott- Drinking Blankman's koolaid, please stop. Liberals/progressives don't want that. We'd actually like things to be FAIR for everyone. As a progressive I believe in public education and I believe that we've allowed our schools to become dumbed down robotic factories - which is why so many children aren't interested. As a progressive I don't think that companies moving jobs to low/no wage nations need to get tax breaks. As a progressive I also understand that hard times do happen and that is what the "social safety net" is for. As for undocumented workers - many are in Agriculture picking our food, or cleaning the toilets in those corporate offices - and I have yet to hear a conservative volunteer their children for those low paying jobs.
See, conservative policies & group-think have been the bane around Americans necks for the last 30+ years! Conservatives have convinced many (democrats too) that UNIONS are the problem - NO CORPORATE GREED IS! Conservatives have convinced many that if WE just unleash the markets prosperity will flourish - NO THAT LEADS TO MORE BAIL-OUTS FOR THE RICH & CORPORATE! Conservatives have convinced many (democrats too) that if "people will just pick themselves up by their own bootstraps" - forgetting that the many have NO BOOTS!
What I've observed is that while conservatives don't want "the government" to "help" give a hand up to anyone that isn't white, male, religuoulos & entitled, they don't seem to mind if that "hand up" is helping them!
joca 41, #3
Exactly! Please proceed, Republicans!
Tell me how it is that when given the choice..workers will boot these corrupt Unions at the drop of a hat..even in "Liberal" strongholds? Hey and just think...if Liberals did not have the EPA regulating them out of the US, and Liberals taxing them off-shores..perhaps there would NOT be 47 MILLION Americans on food stamps today. And these Companies provide livings for these workers as well as Health care..Profits for American 401 K's as well as pay taxes and buy equipment from other American companies creating American jobs...and STILL are crucified by Liberals. It's called "Class warfare" or perhaps better yet...Jealousy. And "the war on poverty" has been fought since 1963 and every decade since the results of this nanny state is the single parent homes and drop out rate and incarceration rate keep keep skyrocketing and just creating generational welfare recipients. Poverty has never had it so good.
scott-3860658
If memory serves, unions fighting for workers gave us the 40 hour work week, public schooling for our children instead of child labor, workplaces free from toxic wastes and other health and safety hazards, health care insurance and pensions and this nation is much better off with these things than without so I would say unions represent their members pretty well. This nation is also better off with healthy seniors and an underclass not ready to turn this nation into 1789 France. Companies used to see it in their interest to have a society that promoted these things (witness Henry Ford paying his workers a wage that would permit them to buy his cars) but today's corporations cannot or will not see past the next quarterly dividend so that is someone else's problem now. Government is 'allowed' to do it as long as they do not tax people's quarterly dividend to pay for it. The 1% do not want a rising tide to lift all boats, they want to reserve the boats to themselves. The main reason illegal immigrants come here is these companies providing work for wages they cannot get away with paying American citizens in conditions they cannot get away with forcing Americans to work in, not liberals paving their way. Now you can continue to support policies that aim to benefit 1% of this country or help the adults govern for 100% of the country. Choose wisely.
Little racists often get their facts wrong, especially those who were schooled in our less affluent states, such as WV.
Get over it, Scottie, the Black guy is in the white house for four more years.
The Unions and "the good old days" of the 1920's...You know that whole what have you done for me lately? Nothing, besides embezzle money, and spend Union dues supporting a guy that wants illegals to compete for YOUR job.You did not seem to answer the question of WHY even Liberals are not paying Union dues when given the option? I really did not see ANY answers in that inane diatribe. I look at the Economy, the Welfare and food stamps at record highs, the record debt incurred under this failure as well as 4.00 Gas prices and The economy CONTRACTING and THEN make a judgement on the current failure in chief.
Scotty, I just really want to thank you ever so much for your many forays over here, to demonstrate so clearly to us just how blindingly ignorant one has to be, to be one of you. Too ignorant to know how ignorant you are. But since you're from West Virginia, you can always go back to chasing your sister.
And only after I got bored with yours. Perhaps mixing in a Newspaper would help you.
scott - You obviously haven't been paying attention for the last 30+ years. UNIONS have been demonized to a point that people have forgotten how "their own best interests were served". As Joseph stated UNIONS are the reason that there is a Middle Class - as for "class warfare" Warren Buffet said it best "it's his class that started it, and they're winning". And Warren is correct, as long as there are people such as yourself and Blankman that refuse to see how UNIONS benefited and helped to bring about a Middle Class, there is still much educating to be done.
Parroting the GOTP talking points isn't acceptable. As a nation WE have been living thru the worst of laisse faire policy failure, and yet, the GOTP see NO reason to change course because their pimps in the 2% class have made out like fat-cats. Whereas for the average worker salaries have been stagnant for the last 25+ years, yet the costs of everything else have still continued to go up.
As for the social safety net and the "benefits" that you believe are unworthy to be given out - puhlease, shall WE go back to the "good ole days" where there were workhouses and debtors prisons? Or should we just allow people & families to be homeless? Frankly I think what bothers me more about you GOTP types is the heartlessness and selfishness in which you choose to believe that "it's your own fault" if you're not doing better - as if everyone has the same advantages to education & birth - that you people must obviously have.
I do not think it's possible to educate someone who equates unions and the 1920's . Even if we said, hey buddy let's go shoot some cans off the fence posts and talk about stuff like 'what conditions led up to Great Depression' and 'drastically cutting spending would be like shooting a chicken that's laying eggs every morning'.
scott-3860658 #3.11
Unfortunately for you the ones that need to provide answers are Republicans. The Democrats have been providing answers all along (remember the 'Spending is the Problem' chart that showed spending going DOWN during the Obama Administration?). Republicans have yet to propose anything that cuts the deficit according to anyone's arithmetic, right or left, so if they have a deficit reduction program why are they keeping it a secret? Now you can continue NOT TO LISTEN to the answers or support the adults in governing this nation. Your Republican friends have demonstrated they cannot lead and will not follow, so the least they can do is get out of the way before they are trampled underfoot and go the way of the Whig Party.
The message to these greed mongers is money. Look at those who have left public service and are instant millionaires, the speaking and lobbying gigs are there for the taking. A change in actual policy would rock that gravy train, Cantor is not a courageous man or a leader.
GOP policys are a lot like the Chevy Corvair...they can dress them up to look as cool as they want but they are still unsafe at any speed.
But like I said the fact that he is giving the speech at all is at least a small step toward the GOP admitting they have a problem and not being completely divorced from reality. His problem is going to be threading the rhetorical needle between sounding sane and not sounding like he is weak to the tea party who will pounce on him like hyenas on a wounded gazelle.
Looking at the current situation America is in...should you not be talking about Hussein and failed LIBERAL policy? Or is that just easier to ignore? You know...the economy shrinking, Hussein trampling the Constitution and the drive to put 11+ Million illegals on Husseins Socialized Medicine rolls and allowing them to compete with American Citizens for the few jobs left out there?
scottie baby, you need to stop listening to Limpbrains and Faux Fake and BS Gnewz. Your IQ will actually go up in just 24 hours.
Well gosh, except for the part where the economy has grown every year since Obama took office, the fact that illegal aliens will have to buy insurance but won't be eligible for subsidies under the ACA, the fact that Obama administration has deported more illegal aliens than any prior administration, that illegal immigration is sharply down, and that you don't seem to be able to identify any actual Constitutional invasions, that's just a whole bunch of really excellent points ya got there, Skippy.
The Economy has grown every year...and yet there are more Americans on Food stamps and welfare than ever before? And the Economy is growing? it CONTRACTED last month as did manufacturing the month before that. And yes...Hussein deported illegals UNTIL he decided to MAKE THEM CITIZENS,,the numbers plummeted after that campaign decision. And the reason that immigration is down...is because THE ECONOMY STINKS.And how much in Benefits (ie Welfare and Food stamps) be it schools, or hospitals or other social services they sponge. The fact remains that they are criminals. How is it Hussein has such a disrespect for American immigration law? It's called buying votes, and to hades with the laws of America.
Every time I read one of Scott's posts I hear the voice of Rod Serling in my head...
"Picture of a man on the edge of irrelevance...His next stop..."
And yet,Liberals are the ones ignoring reality that seems to be in......"The twilight zone" No problems with giving illegals amnesty, or see the tanking economy under the entire run of this "failure-in-chief"
Uhh yeah...
Ok Scott since it seems to be "Citation and support your points and arguments day...here is some light reading and viewing material to keep you busy

Had a friend who loved the Corvair. However, wasn't that the model where the engine kept falling out? Apt model for GOTP.
I am tempted to answer the "guy who speaks for liberals", but not even going there.
I have to repeat my post from earlier .......we've seen it all before. .
Re branding, reinventing, turd polishing any number of ways to describe it .
Remember after Obama shellacked McCain...the listening tour
GOP group launches listening tour to rebrand image
http://usatoday30.usatoday.com/news/washington/2009-05-03-gop-tour_N.htm
That was a big success.
I think it dissolved about a nanosecond after the first press conference with all the big (whigs) , Jebby , Jindal , Cantor , Ryan .
They will never change
You can polish and paint a turd any way you want, but when you're through it's still a turd.
Rove, aka turd blossom.
Look who Cantor's talking to, an echo chamber of his own ilk. Anyone think this bunch will tell him his ideas are lame?
Look who Cantor isn't talking to, the people he supposedly represents. Because he's scared to death they will tell him his ideas are lame. His constituents don't breath the same rarified air.
Poor Cantor would then be ideologically trapped between his voting constituents and his party leadership whose wants are diametrically opposed to one another.
As for who he is talking to...the same people he is always talking to: Donors
This is a face saving move so that the Republicans can at least say they "Did" something to try and clean up their image and please don't stop giving us money.
Face saving? Hussein was out begging Wall Street for money with his elbows out and his Palms up AFTER he crucified them in the court of Public opinion...THAT is one Liberal that just doesn't know the meaning of the word shame....And the nerve to go after Law abiding Citizens Second amendment rights while his hometown is far worse than the battlefields of Iraq or Afghanistan. And Hussein put's out a picture of "Skeet shooting Dumbo" to show what a "gun loving" guy he is....Liberals are Putrid.
You know, I have the solution to it all!! I know how to get climate change legislation, how to stop the Keystone pipeline, how to decrease our CO2 emissions...EVERYTHING! It came to me this morning when I was listening to NPR: We need to replace our obstructionist congress, our right-wing domestic terrorists who are currently holding our country hostage with the following people: Half Amish, and half Native Americans!
These people understand the environment, farming, water supply, economy, all of it! In addition, being pacifists, there go the unnecessary wars and bloated defence budget. The deficit would drop like a rock!!
Or tell them we're against it and naturally as reflex action...they'll be for it
Sick and Effin Tired,
I can relate to your avatar, BTW. Of course we should just tell them we're against these things! So simple! I'm ashamed I didn't think of it!
Cantor was on CBS this morning being interviewed by Nora O'Donnell and Charlie Rose. When he response to a question by Nora was to weasel and not answer the question, she followed up asking him for a yes or no. Of course, she received only more weasel words and, of course, Charlie Rose took over the interview and Nora was not permitted to ask more questions.
It is no wonder that CBS is dumping Nora from the morning show. She sometimes acts like a real journalist.
I say let Cantor state the GOP policy as succinctly and clearly as possible, keeping a straight face while he does so. Put it so it is clear even to Fox watchers who would be affected by it. Make it clear to the people in the Southern red states, too. Those are, after all, the biggest takers in the country. Say it in creole and Spanish, as well, for Louisiana and Florida and Texas!
Boehner would not be able to keep a straight face, nor would Ryan, but I have faith in that cold blooded Cantor! He could and should lay it out, in all its immoral splendor!
The machine's 2012 poster child, the ... person they chose to represent their ideals and provide the leadership qualities they value, trivialized 47% of U.S., and his only apology was that he had not stated his opinion 'elegantly'. When he didn't win, the machine blamed him for losing. It's either 'God's Will', or somebody else's fault.
Cantor in a nutshell: Excrement sandwiches. Now featuring ketchup!
Also: ça
It's amazing...welfare and Food stamps at record highs, Debt under this failure threatening the economy and America's credit rating...Hussein trampling the Second Amendment and THIS is what is on liberals minds...stand next to a Liberal and you can hear the wind whistle through their ears....
You gotta give little Eric credit for his tireless work to demonstrate the falsity of the ancient anti-Semitic slur that all Jews are really smart.
#10,
ketchup, a fine vegetable! Ask Ronald Reagan.
Great endorsement seeing as Ronnie was Mr. Potatohead.
"Plus ça change" would be more appropriate in good french...
Cantor is expected to bemoan the good old days when party branding meant applying a searing hot, elephant shaped poker to the hides of a majority voters to claim them for life.
Yupp, use euphemisms for the bad stuff... that will work Eric.
No...Putting out pictures of Hussein skeet shooting was probably the most laughable HAS to be voted "prop of the year"..I for one certainly believe him to be a huge Gun Nut now...*ROTFL*
He wasn't skeet shooting. He was SHEET shooting. That ought to make you very scared, scott.
Wouldn't that be "self loathing"? He's half White....genius.
Nah, you know as well as I he's one of those people and he's very, very, very angry. Don't you scottie, boy? You better not let Obummer catch you with a sheet on. You just better not.
When you can't dazzle them with brilliance..baffle them with B.S. You are hilarious.
^^^Too dumb to get it.^^^
Where are the newsvine "deleters" when you need them? That nasty little racist should have been sent back to WV a long time ago.
Telling yourself you have a packaging problem, not a product problem, has been the leading indicator of an enterprise on the road to extinction since time immemorial. I expect that's what the flint-nappers trade association said when it was facing competition from those upstart bronzesmiths.
Cantor is a nasty fool. The American public may be gullible, but it knows EXACTLY what the Republican Party stands for. Saying something different about it isn't going to change that fact!
EXACTLY...things like get off your Butt and work,Live within your means, take care of yourself and respect the Constitution and American immigration laws. ALL of the things Liberals despise.
This raises the question of why the Republicans don't run an attractive platform. Instead of trying to make certain we all follow their GOD or we all do what they want in our bedrooms, or Republicans allow women to determine what they can do with your bodies as per reproductive rights. Why don't the Republicans get a life?
I am considering establishing a third party, primarily for the 2014 election system, referred to as the Lincoln Constitutionalist Republican Party (RCRP). The RCRP would not place anyone else above the Constitution, including the tea party's vaunted .1%. The RCRP would not discriminate and would treat each of the We the People equal "under the law", instead of favoring those who provide political favors. The RCRP will be more pro-business than the Democratic party, but America will finally have a choice between two Constitutional-based parties. There would be no litmus test to join the RCRP, and we could also be a big tent party like the Democratic party.
We could bring lawsuits against each of the tea-party Republicans who remain and do not switch into one of the other two Constitutional-based parties based on violation of their Constitutional oaths and blatant political and class-based discrimination. Soon enough, the current Republican party will likely become irrelevant and be replaced (like the pro-slavery Whig party), and it will be viewed since Nixon and particularly Bush/Cheney and Romney as a treasonous attempt to recreate slavery by creating one class (the .1%) that has so many advantages over the rest of We the People.
It's really hard to even dissect the crazy that runs through basically every word of that thread.WOW!
Should be easy for you, Scotto, with all those voices in your head sorting it out.
Scott hears things the rest of us can't hear.
Or wouldn't want to hear!
The trauma of November, like all traumatic memories, fades with time.
Especially for those who didn't lose their positions or millions of dollars. Which is to say, just about every prominent Republican.
Therefore, there's no problem. Carry on as usual.
You put lipstick and an evening dress on a pig, but it is still a pig.
A Pig that has ballooned the deficit, tripled gas prices and an economy in shambles with record food stamps and Welfare.....to quote Charlotte's web..."That's some Pig".
Poor ol' scottie. He missed his spaceship back to planet Wingnuttia and now he's stuck on Earth. He has a hard time dealing with Evidence, Rationality, and Reality and so you get his Fox-education leaking out like a toilet running over.
Scotkins does know, doesn't he, that everything in his post applied to the last six months of GWB's administration?
But then, projection is the first defense against reality...
The only good thing I can say about Can'tor is that he's 50% of why Boehner drinks. The other 50% is because the cork is popped.
"said the spider to the fly?"
